We had not visited here for quite a while and were pleased to note that the interior had been refreshed and was attractive and clean. However, although the staff were polite and helpful they did not engage very much and would benefit from "meet and greet" training. Our food was rather mediocre and certainly will not have us rushing back.

Came as a family for my son’s 24th birthday and thought the food was fantastic. It’s been a while since we have been and it was as good as we remembered. Drinks were a bit slow but I put this down to it being busy and not enough staff. Other than that it was great

So good, had to add a review. I live locally and have eaten in Viceroy many times, the service and atmosphere is always fantastic. However for one reason or another hadn’t eaten there for a while and tonight ordered a takeaway to collect, it was the best Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi I’ve ever eaten, (probably best curry). Please don’t change anything about that dish. It’s perfect

Awful. I’ve ate from here for ten years. Always been bang on. The jalfrezi tonight was watery and no good. Waited 1hr 15 for pick up and had to get cash as machine broke. Apparently changed hands so avoid ….. I won’t be going back

Visited the restaurant mid-week just before Christmas. Nice location right on the parade and the staff were good. Surprised by how quiet it was though and as a result, it was lacking ambience. The mixed grill & 1/4 chicken that we had as starters were tasty but very small/not much meat on the chicken. The chicken pathia and naan were nice but the Viceroy's Special rice was very bland. Overall, it's ok but there are better places locally for a curry if you venture further afield.

We have been going as a family for years, but the standard and quality of this place is now unrecognisable. The curry is so watery - no thickness or flavour at all. We had to complain by calling back and they initially refused to do a refund. They suggested I drive back down, which is totally unacceptable. Had to wait 30 minutes in the store for the takeaway. Only when I asked the main manager did they check on it, to come back and provide no update. It’s lost all good customer service. This place used to be a star of Bourne end, but I’ll be sure to avoid.

Lovely lunch, the food was amazing and well presented,good portions and car park nearby. Lovely staff and wine and food.i will definitely come back.

We had the worst take away from there ever. We've used the last vice for years I think its changed hands not the same chef that's for sure we finished up throwing both meals away.will not be returning sad to say

Yes it’s a little shabby now ( who can afford renovations at a time like this!) but food is excellent, yes you have a wait but the food is cooked fresh to order. Best in the area by far.

Been coming here for takeaway since about 1988. Had always been very good and tasty. They prided themselves on not using lots of food dye and the Chicken Tikka Biriyani was slightly coloured with things like cardamon which made things interesting but delicious. Of late I have been disappointed and noticed even the Nan Peshwari wasn't as good as in the past. Had a takeaway a couple of weeks ago and the Biriyani and meat was RED. I mean bright RED and very average to eat. Remembered again today and felt it should be posted here. Not something I would normally bother with.

welcomed on arrival shown to our seats, the deco was very shabby in places (by the back wall seating. I didn't want any mains so I chose starters which I was made to feel very uncomfortable about, when I asked if they could come out the same time as my friends mains I was asked three times if I was going to order a main. I was given onions on one of my starters that were not freshly done, when you called a waiter over they never smiled they were quite sharp. the impression they were given was order eat up and leave I will never go back the again we spent over £200s there the food was not very nice definitely not worth the money

We have been eating at this restaurant for a number of years, & such a great restaurant, with great service & wonderful food………….BUT! We booked a Friday evening, as previously you would need to book as always busy on a Friday or Saturday evening, but this particular Friday wasn’t that busy in the restaurant! We placed our order, but waited at least 40 minutes maybe more for our starters! Our mains were just as long! The food when it arrived was delicious, as previously experienced, but the service was absolutely dreadful! With no apologies for having to wait so long! It seemed that they were concentrating more on take aways & home deliveries, but even deliveries have had bad reviews, people having to wait hours!! It’s very sad to see a restaurant going down hill, as previously having some wonderful meals here! Note to the restaurant, if you’re interested, you need to get more staff, to enable you to cope with all your bookings, wether they be in the restaurant or outside! Please don’t allow your restaurant to go down hill, as it would be very sad to see.🤨😉

Booked a table based on a friend’s recommendation. Expectations weren’t set massively high, but I’d been told that the food was really nice. When we arrived, we had to fight our way through the open front door that was blocked by people collecting orders that I’m assuming were made over the phone. We eventually got to the front desk and when we gave our details and explained that we’d booked a table, the guy just looked confused and gestured towards the restaurant. We found our own table and then wait for 45 minutes before I had to physically walk across the restaurant and get a member of staff to come and take our drink order. Everything took way too long and when the waitors eventually took our order, they were very rude. We ate our meal with cold air blowing in through the open door and listened to all sorted of tradesmen’s conversations as they stood in the doorway. The food was exceptional, but unfortunately it was marred by the terrible service and atmosphere. If I could offer the restaurant staff any advice, it would be to hire more staff and to have a separate location or a different system for take-away orders.

We've been cautious with coming back to restaurants post covid but had a fabulous first meal back at the last viceroy tonight. Great social distancing and the same lovely food and amazing service. We've missed our Friday night curries and will be back next week!

The food was excellent and was a great family friendly atmosphere. Our 8 year old and 11 year old loved the food too and the service was great and accommodating. We will be back.

We enjoy eating at The Last Viceroy about once a week, and are never disappointed. All the friends we have introduced there say it's the best Indian food they have ever tasted. The flavours are amazing.

We have been having takeaways from here for about a year and always been delighted.But the last one we had was not good at all.It might have been that the food was over-cooked, or it might have been in the fridge for a long time.Whichever, it was way below what we have come to expect.Fingers crossed it gets back to where it was before, and will be very good again.

Ordered Take Away. 10 mins to get through. Should have realised too busy. Ordered 30 minutes to pickup. Arrived waited 20 minutes. Got home 2 dishes missing. Drove back. No compensation. Been eating there since first opened, think time for a change. Such a shame because food is really good. They just can’t cater for the number is orders. People who had booked tables were walking out. My first bad review. Please get a grip and change

I had always considered the Last Viceroy a better culinary standard than say The Coriander a few doors down. However on my last visit I was completely wrong. I’m not sure what changed but my onion Bhaji was disgusting and tasted like sawdust. I’m sure they can change and will maybe try them again the future but on this occasion I was very disappointed. Especially as on a previous visit several years ago I had an excellent lamb shank.

Sunday lunch time ,nobody in restaurant or staff had to call out to see if they were open.Soon notice that there was no heating on,wife went to the toilet no loo roll and the tap unable to turn off the heating was switched on 5min before we left my main meal was reheated tandoori lamb very dry told the waiter replied yes can be dry.Paid my bill and told second waiter about my meal in one ear out the other will not after many years go back again

Of the 8 times the waiters were at our table, 2 of those were proactive, the other 6 we had to call them over, including asking for menus so we could choose our food followed by calling them over to order! They forgot our drinks order and when they did bring it over, they kept bringing extra drinks (which they proceeded to charge us for even though we sent them back). They also forgot some of our food order/mixed it up after 1 hour 45 minutes of being in the restaurant. One of the towels they gave us to wipe our hands was dirty. When we eventually got our bill it was incorrect due to the drinks. Great atmosphere and tasty food once it arrived but they don’t seem to have the resources to cope with a restaurant and take-away orders on a Friday night. A lot can be said for service with a smile which was not present during our visit. Would not visit again but would consider ordering a take-away to avoid the poor in-house service.

Ordered a korma but was given something completely different ?kori. It was a tomato based dish with onions and peppers which I strongly dislike.

We recently had a delivery from the Flackwell heath takeaway and were completely disappointed. We ordered at 8pm after 3 phone calls or arrived at 10.10 ! Over 2 hours for 8 main dishes is an awful service and the dishes lacked flavor and had so little meat in them.... I would certainly never use them again.

Visited for an evening meal and thought the food was great. Friday night is obviously a busy night which is always a good sign. However the service was a bit slow but this didn't detract from the enjoyment of the evening.

Had dinner here last night. Really had to write this because the quality (not speed) of the service was really very poor. Whilst the head waiter was actually very personable, the waiter who delivered our food should be sent away for some basic customer training - or just fired. He brought the food to us (five dishes in total for two of us), literally threw the bowls down on the hot plate (which wasn't hot), never said what they were and quickly remarked 'be careful, plates are hot', all in a matter of seconds. We were by this stage the only table in the restaurant, so they weren't exactly busy. Clearly this waiter had better places to be. He cleared the table in similar fashion, leaving it up to the head waiter to ask if things were ok.

We walked in on a Sunday night for dinner to try this Indian restaurant in Bourne End. There were five of us and and a toddler. The restaurant was hot equipped with toddlers. There was no high chair available.

Enjoyed a pleasant evening at this small cosy Indian Restaurant. Staff were friendly and service good. Food was fine and nicely served. Meal for two with bottle of wine came to ££60, not bad I thought.

We went there for family/birthday meal on Saturday evening. It was busy and I’m glad I booked a table in advance. Food was very delicious and great atmosphere. Very recommend!

Took my family to the restaurant in Bourne End because i have had several take aways from the one in Flackwell Heath and all I can say it’s worth the trip from Oxfordshire, the King Prawn Shashlik is amazing along with the Chicken Tikka. The service was very efficient and we enjoyed the experience and will certainly be returning. Well done guys!

Visited on New Years Eve, food was great as usual, service was awful, appears they were very short staffed with only a couple of waiters.

First of all a confession - we meant to submit a glowing report here last September 2018, after taking our elderly Mum here for lunch.

This place is very well patronised by locals who know a good thing. The decor is smart but quite cosy. Onion bhaji were superb - crisp and flavoursome. Chicken chat excellent as were mixed starters. Balti lamb was very good but not quite as inspiring as I had hoped for. Perhaps with so many dishes on the menu some of them become a little similar? Anyway everyone else loved their food and the service was friendly if a little slow. I'll be back!

I've been going to this restaurant for years, for both sit-in and take-away. It's generally been decent, but recently, the quality is so extremely unreliable that I'm now looking elsewhere. When it's good, it's nice, but the most recent one I had (take-away) was the worst I have. Puree thick and like cardboard and the other dishes completely lacking flavour and all cold-to-tepid. We actually regretted eating it.

Following a recommendation from Bourne Marine where we moored we had a great evening here with our children. The staff were very attentive and helpful and made our evening very pleasant. The children enjoyed a 1.5 Korma which was very tasty and we had the Lamb rogan which was very flavoursome. Thanks and hopefully we will be able to return another time.

I'm really surprised by all these five star reviews. I'm not normally one to say negative things about restaurants, but after reading the reviews before I went, I have to say I was very disappointed.

I came here with a friend on a Friday evening. It was very busy which is always a good sign. However the tables were rather crammed in with little space. We were so close to the small table next door that they had to borrow our table to put some of their food on before we received our meal.

We have ordered a couple of meals from them and every time it’s been perfectly prepared... really good food from these guys. Very happy

We trialled this restaurant last weekend by ordering some takeaway. The ingredients & spices smelled very fresh & promising. The actual flavour of the food was Ok, but nothing particularly special. We much prefer the Indian food options available just a mile or so down the road in Cookham, albeit that a takeaway there costs around £20 more than this restaurant, we believe the flavour is worth the additional cost.

It was a very busy Saturday night - the restuarant was full. We had booked a table so we sat down straight away. The service was very, very slow. Our first drinks took ages to arrive. Our orders weren't taken for a while. We complained twice and were then served. The food was very good. BUT.... when 2 of our party went to the gents loo, they actually stood and watched the waiters refilling the large chutney jars with all the left-over pickles, onions, chutneys being returned from people's tables. Absolutely disgusting! We wont be visiting again any time soon.

I am always amazed at how this restaurant survives!! I have a few friends who rave about the food, but anyone who has any sense of taste in their mouths would realise that this is just an average Indian restaurant with an average service, nothing more... My recommendation is to drive two miles further to Cookham and avoid the Ghee heartburn and get some fresh spice based curries.

Mid week dinner, early evening, restaurant not busy. The greeting was just about OK but not warm or welcoming. We were seated promptly and table was OK but, soon afterwards, the table next to us was given to a small group of men despite the rest of the restaurant being very empty. The noise level rose and conversation became difficult. No-one asked how our meal was and there seemed no genuine warmth or interest from any of the waiters. there are several restaurants in Bourne End so, as locals, future meals out will go to somewhere that WANT our business.

We have had a fantastic family meal at this restaurant and would recommend anyone to go there. The service is amazing, the food is absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very busy, even though our booking was an early evening one, yet still all our food (8 of us) came out together. All the curry dishes were outstanding, particularly the lamb dishes.Only food criticism would be that our onion bhajis were very dry and hard - almost as if they had been over-cooked - this is the only thing stopping this restaurant getting a full marks rating, but it wouldn't stop me going back there!

Living in the frozen north, we are spoilt with really good curry houses, we've tried quite a few on journeys south and struggled to find good curries.Well this one is a gem, excellent tasty food and really good service.Highly recommended, we will call again when in the area.

About 2 miles from LOUDWATER and is exceedingly good. Parking can be outside or Pay & Display 2 mins walk. I have older friends who visit 3 times per week so that's how good it is. Very busy worth booking. Food of highest standards and good waiters. Definitely worth a visit.

we visited on a Thursday night and fortunately had reserved a table as the restaurant was packed. It took forever to order our drinks and food. WE waited over 30 minutes for our starters and then another long wait for the main course. We ordered a bootle of wine to then be told 10 minutes later it was not in stock and they brought a bottle of vin de table when we had ordered sirah. They then replaced it with a difference sirah which was fine but we had to remind him because he had forgotten we had ordered wine ! on leaving I said to the guy at the door good food and very poor service and he just shrugged his shoulders and did not care.

I have been to many Indian restaurants but they are NEVER as good as the Viceroy! The food is always an excellent standard.

I've been a regular for nearly 20 years and the food has always been of excellent quality, served hot and fresh. The staff are delightful, particularly the manager who always greets me by name, although a lot of the waiters are new. However, it's becoming a victim of it's own success in that the number of people coming to collect takeaways is quadruple that of the diners in the restaurant, so they really need bigger premises.The only bad experience I've had in all the time I've been going was the last time. I ordered Lamb Shashlik and they brought me Chicken. Not the end of the world, but the other half doesn't eat lamb and so this was my opportunity. They apologised but didn't adjust the bill or even give me a free Coke or anything! I suppose Greed is Good!

Having been a regular customer for over twenty years last night's experience highlights how easy it is to loose loyal clients!Having ordered large party of some 16+ young football fans arrived and took over the restaurant.it was impossible to hear anyone at our table speak for the noise they were making. Our request to move tables was not possible. We eventually left after our starters to find they were kicking a ball and drinking in the street. Although we paid for our drinks and starter the manager should have waived this charge, but greed obviously clouded his judgment!The silver lining was that we completed our meal at the Spice Merchant in Maidenhead, which was excellent.The morale of the story , there are other good Indian restaurants in the area which are better managed. Sad to say although the food is great, we will not be going back .

Have eaten here for more than 15 years and would go more often if we were a little nearer. Fantastic food (the mussels are brilliant) friendly helpful efficient staff who go out of their way. This is a really well run quality restaurant and one of the best in our area always worth the trip

Even though it had been ordered earlier in the day.Crowds pushing for their takeaways as the restaurant was crammed to the rafters and a second sitting expected any time.Food was cold,and my veggie samosa had meat in it.Was violently sickThere is a general problem with this and other local restaurants that they can do takeaways and restaurant service......well they can t and it's getting worse.Had same problems a while back with Maliks in Cookham.Greed.

We went further a field as our three curry houses in our high street are going down the pan! We've visited before with friends and this time, the food and service we're exemplary! This is our new local 'via uber' curry house. Nom, nom, nom!!

Always so busy, booking is essential, but always excellent service and food.We all had our regular dishes, chicken; pasanda, dansak, tikka masala, korma and rezella, with sides of; pill rice, sag aloo, onion bhaji - all delicious!Service is quick and very efficient.

I had heard good things about this restaurant but sadly, I was misinformed. Despite making a booking, it was physically difficult to get in the building due to the queue of people waiting to collect take-away meals. There is no waiting area at all & no separation of diners & collectors! This is totally unacceptable & the throng of people jamming the doorway is completely out of place here. Either it is a 'class' restaurant (more on that later) or a high-volume takeaway, it can't be both. The reason there is no waiting area is that the management have crammed every last square cm with tables. While I can't blame them for wanting to take advantage of the numbers of local customers, I have to say that without a doubt this is the most congested place I have seen for many years. There was one, and only one high point of our visit & that was finding beef dishes on the menu. I personally object to eating lamb & find chicken excessively bland so I was really pleased to be offered beef. I ordered it one step up from mild heat, they call this 'fairly hot'. However, this is where this visit really start to unravel & exposes the sham that this place is anything above average, at best. I was not warned that the chef has no sense of taste at all. My food was the hottest I have ever been presented with in my life and I used to live in Bradford! My companion's dish was also excessively hot yet strangely lacking in flavour. When we both told the waiter that our food was verging on inedible, instead of issuing heartfelt apologies & providing something suitable, he just shrugged & walked away. Before we had been exposed to this overly hot curry, we had been offered a choice of two (yes two!)slightly different beers or twenty different wines on the list. Again, this shows a total disregard for the customer experience. We even had to ask for water, it was not provided even though the irresponsible staff clearly know just how much you are going to need it when the food arrives. Another two 'firsts' here. The table was the smallest I have ever been given & so was the naan bread. When I mentioned that the bread was only the size of a small side-plate, the waiter said that anything bigger would not fit on the table! I assume he was trying to be funny but in a way he was right & we had to use the window sill to accommodate all our modest meal.The only thing that was full-size was the bill. Considering how little we actually ate, this was a very expensive meal indeed. So to sum up, getting in the door was difficult, the food we had was inedible, the naan the size of a crumpet, the staff completely unhelpful, choice of drinks lamentable, value poor & the congestion unacceptable. Don't even think about wheelchair access. My verdict is to give the place a miss until serious improvements are made.
