Raj Indian Restaurant in Wycombe

Brilliant service, fantastic food, my chicken was so tender it melted in my mouth . Hubby vegetarian and his food was great and flavoursome.Ordered a nan bread to our spec, it was top notch , light and fluffy and very tasty. We were so impressed with the food and service.

Excellent food and service very friendly staff, very good value for money. defiantly will be returning , also you can take your own alcohol which is a big saving.

Very good food,with some combinations on the menu I've not seen before. No alcohol licence, so bring your own.

Sat inside for a meal with a few friends service was prompt and food was fantastic would recommend to anyone!

We alternate between Raj and the other nearby. Wasn't as good this time, disappointing vegetarian dishes too much chilli not much else for flavour unfortunately.

The Raj has been my go-to takeaway for sometime, but the quality has declined over the last 6 months or so. The drop in standard was very noticeable during the week but still excellent on a Friday and Saturday. (different chefs on at different times). However the last few takeaways have been dreadful - bland and swimming in oil/ghee, which is unacceptable.

When I first started ordered from raj Indian takeaway. The food was amazing but the last two times I’ve got it the chickens has been like rubber. I don’t know if they’ve got a new chef or not. The only thing I don’t like about the restaurant is been in a wheelchair they don’t have wheelchairs access. They don’t even have a disabled toilet like you can get into the restaurant that’s no problem, but if you need to go to the toilet, you can’t go to the toilet I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting a takeaway from raj i’m not eating them because I can’t because I don’t have a disabled toilet that the food ain’t as nice the last two times I’ve got it. Just puts you off when you’re paying over £35 for a takeaway and half of it goes in the bin and I found a coma the last two times a bit spicy being someone is allergic to spicy food. I’m not eating something you can taste of spice or not after me telling me to find out I’m allergic to spicy food and I get told it’s not spicy, but when you’re six-year-old niece says the same thing to you, it’s too spicy I don’t know it just puts you off when the food is like rubber and being in a crisis. We are at the moment £35 for it to go into the bin or to order them. I don’t think when I know I want to go back there again in a hurry.

Friendly and helpful staff, tasty food at excellent prices. No bar but they're happy for you to take your own alcohol with you. A very pleasant Sunday lunch time buffet meal with the family. Will definitely go again.

This place is a little gem in Hazelmere High Wycombe, u can bring ur own drink and eat some quality Indian food...its a win /win.

Food was excellent. The staff are very polite and helpful. When I went our group where the only ones there. I should point out that they do not sell alcohol at all and they don't mind if you bring your own, soft drinks are sold there .

I’ve had a couple of deliveries from raj and never been really impressed but thought I’d try again (as there’s not much places to order from around here) this time we had a masala and butter chicken but was once again disappointed, every dish I’ve had from this place taste the same, a watery yogurt almost curdled like sauce with no flavour and no real spice to anything you’d get in an authentic Indian restaurant. Will not be ordering from here again.

Terrible… my son treated my daughter in law and the I to dinner … The order was wrong, the onion bhajis were soggy and the meal was second rate yet over priced. NEVER AGAIN

Lovely food! We decided to go out last minute and we're happy to find a table on a Saturday somewhere. Service was very friendly but very slow. They did apologise and said that they had a lot of takeaway orders. Bring your own alcohol so we grabbed a couple of beers across the road (... could have done with a couple more due to the wait for food!) Will definitely go back ..the quality of food saved them!

Decided to try after reading reviews and our local was being refurbished-ordered butter chicken, this was more like a very sweet korma - not butter chicken just couldn’t eat it was so so sweet also a lamb korai this was slightly better but such a thin sauce no real flavour ‘exotic highly flavoured spices ‘ it stated on the menu - guess they forgot to add them very bland had a side dish of sag paneer this also was so over sweetened all you could taste was sugar. The pila rice just looked and tasted like plain boiled rice garlic naan was limp and tasteless the only item that was any good was the papadoms they were light and crisp. I don’t usually leave bad reviews just leave good reviews when justified but this meal was really bad - at least they did turn up in reasonable time.

Use it quite often and always good - but seem to be harming more sales potential by no longer serving alcoholic drinks. Soft drinks OK but it seems a bit bizarre to have a no alcohol policy.

Good Indian restaurant. We've enjoyed going there for years and they've never let us down. First class food and friendly service. Also, in this difficult Covid era, there is plenty of space to 'socially distance '. Highly recommended

Ordered online for delivery. Food was excellent quality, hot and delivered double quick. We’ve used the Raj a couple of times when we visit and will definitely be going again when we come back to Hazlemere…..can’t fault it.

We've had a lot of meals here plus takeaways and it's always good to excellent. Friendly staff and we've also had home deliveries in lockdown. Worth recommending. Fair pricing too.

We tried the Raj after using the other restaurant in the village Jai ho but the curry was cooked with the English palette in mind as I would never expected chicken tikka Masala to have coconut in it. Tomato,tumeric yoghurt,massala paste onion and lots of fresh coriander but coconut. Na. Although every one ordered different dishes they all looked the same a soup with meat in. Might try one more time but a dish with classical ingredients preferably dry.

Great food & Service. Crispy Onion Bahji and a Biryani that was super fragrant. Nice relaxed surroundings. Would recommend

Wished I had gone with the two I read that rated these as poor. Over price budget food. Lamb rogan josh lamb was tuff only about 5 bits in it. Annash duck only had the drum stick.. Loads of coconut sauce pilau rice was boiled not pilau it was basmatic with peas in it would rate this restaurant at all wouldn't use again alot of smoke and mirrors

Used this restaurant umpteen times between 2017 and 2021 and they always please. Tasty food, courteous staff, home deliveries, reasonable prices, hot on hygiene it seems and worth recommending.

Had a birthday take away from raj, they were polite, helpful, collection was easy, fast service, hot food, unfortunately when we got it home 3 of the main dishes ended up on the floor 😑 we phoned raj back and explained, they were happy to replace all lost dishes for us, they couldn't have been any nicer and when we did get round to eating the food it was excellent. Very disappointing . Ordered chicken tikka dry as a main. Not sure what I got but it certainly wasn't edible , looked like it started off with a yellow sauce which had been washed off before reheating , horrible waste of money.

12th February 2021, ordered a birthday meal, had to call back to find out when the meal would arrive meal did arrive eventually but was completely wrong and one dish was burnt, called restaurant they would not offer a refund only a free meal, we ordered the meal the following day, it arrived and was WRONG again, I have used this restaurant before and the service an quality of the meals has been good, but it seems standards have slipped will not be using them again, there are plenty of other good Indian restaurants that deserve the business.

We decided to order through the website a collection from this restaurant for me and my girlfriend, when we collected the staff were very nice and service was fast. After we got home we realised they had added 2 extra mixed meats completely free to the order, not only that but the food tasted amazing! Highly recommend and would say the best Indian in bucks for sure! Thanks Guys! Alex

During lockdown Raj has been our takeaway lunch time treat. Beautifully cooked to order and ready in 30 mins for collection.

The best Indian restaurant in the Wycombe area in my opinion. Friendly staff throughout. The food is spot on every time whether eating in or taking out. The madras is perfect. The £10 meal deal for takeaway on a Tuesday is superb value for money. Keep it Raj 👌🏼

Ordered buffet delivery for 7, easy ordering , asked if it could be bagged for 3 different couples and a child , this was done with no problem to saved us sorting it out on delivery which made it very easy for us, food was amazing and all different starters and mains were enjoyed by everyone , very tasty food cooked lovely , on top of that we had food delivered by a very smartly dressed man which I thought was a good standard , well done raj from phone order to delivery all excellent

Raj is the nicest Indian in the area! Delivery is prompt, the staff are incredibly friendly both on the phone and in person, and the food is delicious. Can not fault them at all!

The food was OK but too much food colouring is used. We had a takeaway and the writing on each dish was illegible so we weren't sure what each one was.

Had take away here twice during lockdown, they take the precautions seriously and have enough space to safely wait. The lamb madras is incredible, probably the best I’ve ever eaten. I’ve heard a rumour that they’re famous for there onion bajis - they are really good. Will be back.

The food never disappoints and, in my opinion, is better than others within High Wycombe. My favourite is veg bhuna and pulao rice.

The Raj, have never delivered before but in recent times they have branched out. Just had the most amazing meal! Great value for money too! The dishes were packed to the brim, enough for 2! I will definitely use them again, it was delicious !!!!!

Used the Raj delivery service a couple of times since it was introduced due to lockdown. Each occasion the food has been hot, fresh and delicious. Delivered in a timely manner by friendly staff too.

Ordered take away twice during lockdown and both time’s have been very good. The pathia was great abs the value is good. Best around

I don’t usually post reviews. However tonight we had a lovely takeaway from the Raj. First time we have used them. Friendly staff, quick service and delicious non greasy food. We were missing a naan, however within 10 minutes it was as delivered. I’m afraid our usual (not named) take away has now been replaced. Thank you. Our first non home cooked meal in the last three (corona virus) weeks. Much appreciated! We hope to make a personal visit once we are allowed out. In the mean time same thing next week

The service here is quite mixed. It’s not particularly personal or particularly friendly, but it is efficient.The food is ok, but lacks any real depth of flavour and everything tastes pretty much the same regardless of what you order or the spice strength.It’s an ok Indian restaurant with a good atmosphere but unfortunately nothing stand out about the food.The onus bhajis are good but everything else just not really to my taste. Sorry!

We visited here on 11/1 at around 7pm. We were not welcomed on arrival, as per normal. The service was slow and rushed and the staff were clearly rushed as it was busy but there was no care into the service and food. Food was a slow service, as well as my mum being diabetic this is not great! We are normally locals to raj and have enjoyed all of our times here and are always offered a complimentary mint and a hot towel / on birthdays a complimentary shot of alcohol! Overall the meal wasn’t great tonight and was burnt and service was rushed.

Visited and dined over Christmas and found good, tasty meals again for six of us. Staff always friendly and helpful and shake your hand. Fair pricing for meals. Hard to fault and often recommended.

Small family celebration, early on a Friday evening. Staff friendly, pleasant, and provided consistently great service, start to finish. Food absolutely delicious. Plain papadams with plentiful condiments, for a simple but very tasty starter; a server spotted when we had finished all the onion salad, and replenished it - a small gesture but much appreciated. Mains consisted of duck dhansak, veg biryani and chicken korma. All mouthwatering. Plain naans were fluffy perfection. Great value, too. Our first time eating here - will be back, and would heartily recommend.

Tasty range of curries, that are good value, matched with friendly, attentive service. The lamb shashlik was the hero of our meal.

We like this curry house cos the food is lovely, it's not expensive, the seating is good and the service is excellent.

We arrived without reservation Friday night.... The waiter gave us a table and even if they looked under pressure he was very cool and told us that he would be back soon.

We’ve been coming for years and we absolutely adore EVERYTHING about this place, the food, the staff, the service... we come here for the amazing Tuesday banquet deal, and for birthdays, celebrations, and Boxing Day! Looking forward to our next visit already :)

Came here on Valentines night. They were very busy, but the service was very good. Good choice of menu, I had chicken Tikka Bhuna, my wife had Lamb Jalfrazi, we both had an onion Bharji, it was all lovely. Definitely worth a visit.

Restaurant was quiet for a Saturday evening, but the food was very nice. We ordered a selection of dishes and they were all equally good. Would go again.

We’ve been coming to the Tuesday evening banquet for several years, and have noticed a rather sad slow decline in the quality of the food. Five “courses” has dropped to four, portion sizes have decreased, and items like paneer stuffed chillies are no longer on the plate!

Great food and friendly staff. Prefer avoiding Tuesday nights as food quality appears to dip in favour of their all you can eat nights. Decor could do with updating and the restaurant is largely open plan with just rows of tables.

Return visit and Dined with friends, Christmas Eve, and we were all pleased. Raj was once given poor marks in hygiene listings but hopefully that's all over and lessons were learned. Pleasant efficient staff. Handshakes if you're recognised from previous visits. Deserves recommendations.

I went here with two friends. All three of us thought the food and service were great. I am VERY fussy when it comes to Indian food (my mother was born there). I had a lovely sizziling prawn tandoori. It was a 10/10

My wife and I moved to the area 2 years ago. We’ve been regular customers to the Raj for ages. We love the chicken tikka. It doesn’t taste like anywhere else. We dined so often on the banquet Tuesdays that we were always recognized and greeted by the waiters one by one! We recommended it to lots of friends and often brought them to Hazlemere to show them just how good it was!

Food was OK but nothing special. But the service was not up to scratch.
