The Last Inn in Gwynedd

Started off with Courage Directors. A really good pint here. Had to have a second just to be sure. The fish pie was superb. Recommend this place for drinks, dinner or both.

Very disappointed by the food in this cosy pub. I had fish cakes which were flat as a pancake, dry and tasteless and served with a very average mixed salad heavily drizzled with balsamic vinegar - which is so unappealing. My husband had pie which was ok but served with thick gloopy gravy. I would go there for a drink but I definitely wouldn’t eat there.

As I wasn't asked whilst in the premise... Whilst standing at bar to acknowledge my reservation people came in after and shouted that they wanted a table...waiting staff then sorted them out first. Given a poor standard table....in that it was too small for plates and glasses. Table also wasn't level....solution by the premise was to hand me a number of beer mats to sort out myself.. Reputation from locals isn't good, nevertheless I ventured in so as to see for myself. Very disappointed. Will never visit this business again.

Stayed in Barmouth for a couple of days and popped here quite regularly. Great "proper" pub with nice food options. We stayed off season so, unfortunately, missed the quiz and live music that is on during busier times

Very disappointed. Having visited on a previous occasion when in the area, knew the food was nice. A Sunday evening out of season and did think wouldn't need to book. However we did. Walked in and waited patiently at the bar. Someone else walked in straight up to a member of staff not behind the bar to ask where their table was. Lesson learned... I asked them about ours. We were on the list but no table number assigned. She then disappeared for the toilet (presumably as she said she was about to burst) and the person behind the bar suggested a table in the corner. We took it. Given that the table was later than intended for food, we took what we could. Someone else who hadn't booked then got given a better table very shortly after us. The table was rocking quite badly. I was provided with bar mats to sort it. We couldn't have eaten as it was. The person sat next to us didn't seem to appreciate us having a dog. Our dog was included on our reservation so had every right to be there. The upshot........... The kebab shop down the the road has nice doner meat and big portions. Despite having a reservationthere was no enquiry as to why we had chosen not to eat there. Clearly our custom was more welcome elsewhere. My opinion...... Busier than it deserved on a Sunday night.

I've been eating at the last inn on and off for years now. The last meal I had was a steak, which was absolutely in my top 3 ever. And I've had some steaks! Would highly recommend. A cosy traditional pub with all the desired draft beers. And excellent food. See you again soon

This quaint inn is located near the seafront and has a charming interior. I enjoyed a lasagne and chips and my husband enjoyed a great burger. Booking recommended as the inn is very popular. We were lucky enough to catch the last same table near the bar on our first visit (6pm on a Saturday) but when we returned another day at a similar time, everything was reserved or occupied.

We didn’t book, but the manager fitted us in. The waitress worked hard and was very attentive when we needed her. We both had duck and it was cooked perfectly, pink and succulent. No negatives at all, a very enjoyable experience. We will be back, but will make sure we book next time.

This place wasn’t the cleanest including toilets. Food and service was a 3 out of 10. Unhelpful staff except for the younger waiter. This place has gone down hill.

Very homle good food dog friendly

My dad drank there and refused to ever go back due to there more about making more money from outsiders than respecting there locals and shun them in the summer cus its more about money, but i the winter its your locals who keep your pub going so my thoughts are respect your locals first.

Went there last Friday with friends very crowded in door way so much as my friend fell down a step with no markings and fell flat on her face a nice lady helped me get her to sit on a chair she had hit her face and hurt her ribs, in that time no staff member came over to assist and even when I went to the bar to explain the staff member stated yes I know but there’s nothing she could do at that point we should have walked out but my friend was still shaken so we continued to have our meal which. Was good. When I asked for the bill I again had explained what had happened and again no member of staff came over to see if she was ok hence we will never be going there again shame it spoiled our weekend

We just had a delicious meal at the last inn. We had kats Balti a fish pie 2 desserts 2 glasses of red wine, 2 pints of Guinness for £80! The food was absolutely delicious. Staff were so lovely. Really nice relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend the last inn. My compliments to the chef and staff

Small pub full of cozy and quaint atmosphere, good menu with variety and food is tasty. Perfect for a warm winter evening meal.

Beware the kitchen closes at 8.30 not 9 as it says on the website and last orders for food is generally a little earlier than this anyway (before 8.15). It can be hard to get tables in the evening

Been coming to the Last Inn for over 40 years. Always stop and eat here if I'm at Barmouth. A surprise in the back of the pub too. Lots of memorabilia of Barmouth decks the walls with a wonderful fisherman's vibe too with nets and boat ornaments. But of course we always come for the food. ♥️

Super cozy pub. Loved the string lights. My friends and I came for dinner. The portions were large and hot. Dog friendly! Definitely worth the visit.

Lovely cosy, relaxed atmosphere that made families feel welcome. Staff were kind and checked in on us throughout are time there. Proper pub grub at an amazing price. A fantastic find. We will be returning.

This is a beautiful pub and the owners have gone to great lengths to make it attractive. The staff are delightful. The food is OK for pub food, perfectly acceptable but not outstanding.

Simply the best pub in Barmouth! Had my 40th birthday meal here last night and what a treat it was, from the service, ambience to the food its just quality, we don't come very often but when it's a special occasion it's my first choice, thank you for a lovely night guys 😊

Amazing food, quirky look, great atmosphere

Visited the last inn for lunch. Was extremely disappointed, I ordered a ploughman’s. I have eaten here on numerous occasions in the past when in Barmouth. This was one of my favourite lunch time choices. The ploughman’s was always wonderful with Snowdonia cheeses, lovely meat, pate, nice fresh bread, pickled onions, chutney etc.. presented on a large board. This time the price has increased with little choice, only smoked cheese no Snowdonia cheeses, very limited in three items you could choose. The bread was a very cold, dry ciabatta which was just terrible. This is not a ploughman’s anymore!! Washed money will not eat here again extremely expensive, for poor quality food.

Really disappointed. Have always raved about this pub. Food was ok. I had the lamb, which was a bit overcooked, asparagus was rock hard. Menu was on the expensive side compared to other establishments. Waiting staff were lovely. Toilets were abysmal, tired, tatty and didn’t seem clean. £6.60 for a pint of Peroni is a disgrace. Pub seems to be after profits instead of quality and pride. It is after all a Marstons pub… would rather go somewhere and pay. Which we did! Fanny Talbots for lunch! Couldn’t fault anything!

Cosy pub with good food, delicious beer and great child friendly people. We especially liked the possibility to take the drinks into the small park opposite. The integrated waterfall is also unique.

Beautiful batter on perfect piece of cod with chunky chips, with great peas. Luscious rump steak sandwich with fries. Everything cooked fresh and hot. Merlot and pinot Grigio were good value and excellent. Nice toilets. Good location. Friendly and efficient staff. Hope to return to this pub and Barmouth, as this town seems to have good food venues. Go Barmouth!

Don't know what's happened to this once a gem of a place for food. My husband and I went and the food was awful. My husband stake was nothing but fat and chewy. My salmon was little over cooked. Overall didn't enjoy our food at all.

Not great! Ordered a chick pea curry with rice and a salad garnish. It came without the garnish, so I mentioned it. Waitress eventually brought a small bowl of salad and banged it down on the table. I then pointed out a lot of water in my bowl, she insisted it was the curry sauce... It was not, more like water from the rice, I couldn't eat it... Surprisingly she didn't charge me for it.. Won't eat there again, waitress attitude not great either.

Without doubt one of the best pubs I have ever visited.

A confusing atmosphere with dark eerie lighting. The pub has certainly stuck with a nautical theme but internally feels like a bric-a-brac. Food selection looked good (did not eat) however rather expensive and drinks were very expensive here

Booked for dinner last night, great restaurant and dog friendly. Opted for the lasagne and lamb shank with hasselback potatoes, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced.

We had a lovely meal, the staff were great, we were about to order a dessert and more drinks when two dogs turned up at a table beside us, one was promptly plonked on the table and the other in a very narrow walkway, the stench of wet dog was disgusting so we left without ordering more food.🤢🤢🤢

We tried on a couple of occasions to book here because it had been recommended to us as a good place to eat. First attempt was strange as barman said the next night ie Tuesday was music night and could not book. We checked online the following night and Wed and Thursday were fully booked. We decided to ring and managed to get a table for 6pm on the Thursday. When we arrived there was a note on our table with our name at six and another booked in at 8 o clock. WE were asked if this was ok but had little choice. Food was good and we enjoyed our 'short' visit. Expensive for such a short time to eat.

Couldn't get a table at first because really busy but after the rush was over was able to get one. Hubby had steak which he said was delicious. I had lasagne which I found really dissapointing to say it was around £17. It was in a small bowl with a few chips and a small amount of veg. It was just pasta and sauce, hardly any meat. I must add the staff were all polite and friendly. A big mention to Bella who went out of her way to find us a table and make sure we had everything we needed.. Nothing was to much trouble for her. She is a credit to The Last Inn.

Quick drink visit. Sat across the road with views of the bay. Food looked amazing as always, but we didn't eat this time. Worth a stop for sure

Great place … very dog friendly … been several times with my boxer dog 🐶 over the last 2 years. Burgers were huge and tasty. 😋 The young lady who served us was polite, friendly.

50/50 really . Been to Barmouth loads and have always fancied eating here , so to we did . And I'm sorry but I was slightly underwhelmed. We had fish,chips and garden peas which strangely came in a very open metal basket , not good for holding peas ! PUT FOOD ON A PLAYE PLEASE 🙏 ... The food . The fish was lovely, but we were served FROZEN chunky chips, Proper chips please .

Great service, reasonably priced

Pre-booked for 7:30pm evening meal on Wednesday 14th August and were glad we had. It was busy. An old building, numerous small seating areas, but with lots of character and atmosphere. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was, in our opinion, good pub food. Nothing fancy, but nicely presented and decent quality. Value for money: we had two starters, two mains, a shared dessert and four beers for a little over £70. We felt this was good value for money.

Very quirky pub with lots to look at inside. It's quite dark in the back but there's a real atmosphere. We ordered 4 main meals which arrived in good time even though they were obviously cooked to order. We had the home made pie and tortellini as well as chicken in a basket and a kids pasta meal (this was a huge size for a lids meal). The pints aren't cheap but there's a good range of drinks and you can eat sitting at the front outside if it's a nice day. Would be great for history buffs or tourists

We wanted a nice pub experience in Barmouth and relied on the reviews. Drink selection typical of a pub and ok. The pub seemed a bit dingy and the toilets weren't clean. The decor was wild, of course it's a pub, but that could be nicer (without plastic plants and algae fountains). The mood among the employees was not good and you could tell that as a guest.

Sat outside, which was a lucky find as we then sat there watching people go in the out as it was chocka inside. No tables. Didn't eat, but the menu looked good.

Amazing quirky little place, one of the most interesting pubs we’ve ever visited. We came for lunch as a family, 2 adults and a 2 yr old and 5 yr old. The kids enjoyed their fish fingers and chips, they were thrilled with the decor which made it more interesting for them. My wife and I had a steak sandwich and club sandwich, which were the best things we’ve had for lunch in Barmouth so far and we’ve been to quite a few places. We were really pleasantly surprised by this place and will definitely be visiting again. Would recommend to anyone if you’re staying in Barmouth, just bear in mind it gets busy so you’ll need to book and the higgledy piggledy layout won’t suit some people, although we loved it.

From a week in Barmouth walking, tourist-ing (and of course eating and drinking) my 3 friends and I all agreed that The Last Inn was the best for beer, food and atmosphere! Too many pubs only sell lager, IPA & Guinness in the beer section, but here Directors & Pedigree were available too. The staff were all very polite and knew what specials were on the menu; the old pub was really nicely decked out with lots of little lights and original features (I think it goes back to 16thC?) We ate there a second time for our last night after a unanimous vote! Not sure why they have music nights as the tables were booked up on non-music nights; (also whoever writes the table reservation cards, you’re doing it upside down!) The country duo on Fri night however were really good, and I’m not usually a fan.

Nice to sit opposite and watch the harbour and for me coming from Kent...a pint of well kept Directors was a real treat.

Don't let the look of the place fool you. Did not rate the place at all ,sorry.
