The food was nice and quite well presented although the seating area was a bit tired. Great for us as we were a group of friends on a weekend away, maybe not too good for a couple though!

So glad I came here on half-price Tuesday; even for somewhere you expect to be basic I was surprised at how ridiculous my burger was. Me and a friend came here for a change of scene from the City Centre and also to take advantage of half-priced Tuesday; that many bars in Jesmond were also doing a Happy Hour on drinks was fantastic - if you won. The staff were okay though interaction is minimal - you order at the bar and they bring it over; but perhaps given the dark, dank and decaying look of the place perhaps I'd look as sad as they did if I had to work there. The food initially looked promising, until I opened my burger to add a little more sauce...I did NOT have a Portobello mushroom, it was a button mushroom - smaller than a digestive biscuit; nor was it crispy-fried. My £1 extra curly & skin-on chips were worse than my friends regular fries - I still don't understand how that was possible? They were just normal, bland looking chips, only slightly bigger than fries and for £1 more. Utterly stupid. This said, my friends burger was normally sized and mine (though teeny-tiny) was very tasty and the homemade Blood Mary Ketchup very good. I only wish they knew their mushrooms. I'd go back, but only on Tuesdays - at least until I know the chef can tell big from small.
