The Lansdowne Bar & Kitchen in Glasgow City

I always loved Indian cuisine and became particularly demanding since my husband (Indian!) introduced me to the understanding of the importance of the perfect blend of spices, level of chilly, slow cooking. And that’s particularly difficult to find if you are not in India! As a first time, we have been impressively pleased to experience the authenticity of the Indian food. Recommend by some friends, we decided to go to The Lansdowne in Glasgow. We tried a variety of dishes from crustacean to street food and classical chicken curry to grilled lamb chops, accompanied by selected wine, cider and the unmissable lassi! It has been a superb experience even more valuable as we were in Scotland, not India! Warm welcome and professional service. The restaurant is cosy but classy and elegant. Impressed by the attention to the details.

Amazing place to eat. Tandoori mixed grill was bursting with flavour. Great atmosphere. Very relaxing. Staff cannot do enough for you. Dog friendly. Definately worth a return visit.

Food quality was at highest level and atmosphere was also pleasant. We had ginger fish pakora, kerela style prawns, samosa, vada pav, aloo paratha, lamb chops, dal makhni, chilli garlic chicken and we couldn’t stopped eating. Highly recommended

Lovely place with great service and amazing food 🤤 will definitely come back

With my buddies, we arrived here for dinner. We were ecstatic to see the menu and placed our orders for our all-time faves, which included fish pakora, cauliflower-broccoli pakora, and vada pav. We enjoyed the appetisers. The main courses were substantial and plentiful. The cuisine was excellent all around. We received excellent service from the person serving us. The atmosphere was elegant. I would most certainly return.

Visited The Lansdowne, great place, great food and lovely ambience… do try out their pakoras its delicious the aroma of these pakoras will make you drool… the rotis and naan are huge… dont forget to indulge on that non veg thali and not to mention their grills…

Thus was my first time in restaurant today with my work mates, we had a lovely day,food was absolutely beautiful from our starter to our main meal and the service was excellent,we all had a lovely afternoon would definitely recommend to my family friends

Been to the Lansdowne twice this year already but the second time was very disappointing. Table of 4. We got out drink orders taken quite quickly. But they took ages to arrive, and when they did it was only 2 out of 4 drinks. Had a further wait to place food order. Where we mentioned about our 2 missing drinks. We eventually got some pakora, but had to wait over an hour for our curries. Genuinely thought we had been forgotten about, which the waiter replied "We're really busy". Couldn't help but notice the amount of takeaway orders that were going out past our table as we were waiting for our food, which was quite annoying. We were in about 7pm and some of us didn't get something to eat until 9pm! When i mentioned the wait when paying the staff member didn't seem that bother, just mentioned something about the rugby being on.

This has to be one of the best Indian food I have ever tasted in the UK! I still cannot get over the starters specially the lamb chops (so juicy and flavourful), the bullet chilli(delictable) , the chicken tikka platter - omg it just melted in my mouth and I can go on! We went there for a family lunch about 10 people along with children and a toddler as well! The staff was so soft spoken and accommodating for every request we made. The food was fresh and tasty… and not to forget their drinks were really presentable and had a kick ! The place is amazing and is good for every kind of crowd- homely family lunch section, buzzing bar segment for friends for those night outs and pre gaming sessions as well as romantic date settings. Not to forget they also have a beautiful glass house which we are so looking forward to book soon for some occasion! This is one of the best places I have found in gLasgow! Will definitely come back!

Wednesday night and it was really quiet. However. The food made all the noise. Went in after seeing a review in “Glasgow’s Good Food Group” in facebook. Spot on. Great food. Lovely folk and good value. Will be back and soon

Fantastic food and nice service Excellent.

The Lansdowne is great, our favourite Indian in Glasgow. Relaxed service and delicious food, we had a great meal last night. Favourites are the fish pakora, monkfish kebab and butter chicken 👌

The food was very good when owned by Mother India but unfortunately very ordinary now under new ownership. I had a veg Thali which said 2 dishes of the chefs choice. The two dishes were a very bland chana dal and equally indifferent aloo gobi ( with peas) which was mostly potato. It came with a tiny dish of raita and lime pickle and a choice of bread or rice. Obviously chef doesn’t eat very much and chooses the cheapest ingredients. If this was served as a thali in India they wouldn’t get much custom. My friend had the best ever chicken curry. Well needless to say it wasn’t and it was a tiny portion. On the positive side the organic Spanish wine was very good value.

Tastiest Indian food in Glasgow westend. Super delicious food in an iconic basement. Perfect winter warming and nutritious food.

Can’t praise the place enough. Wet Friday night with a) disabled husband b) small dog c) small baby. So hard to find a venue where we wouldn’t be in the way. The staff were so so so inviting. They helped with my husband, the baby etc. The evening actually restored my faith is restaurant outings. The food was excellent. It is now my favourite local venue.

Nice friendly and nicely off great western road. They are also open during the afternoon. Really nice if one wants quietness and time to speak

5 Star. Fabulous food, a great selection. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Food was really tasty and extra spicy options when we requested. Venue is comfortable and easy walking distance of the underground and local pubs. A great night had been all.

We came in at 7:30 and stayed till closing, just enjoying the vibes after our meal. We had an amazing array of small dishes, all of which tasted deliciously. Some were on the upper limit of spiciness that I can take, so it was perfect for me. The cocktail menu is short, but sweet. Twists on classics, each one great. The music is classy, calm and relaxing. Service was great as well, friendly staff, always ready to come by and check in. I'll definitely return.

Haven't been here in years and we had a lovely, relaxing meal there last week. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The setting was beautiful, relaxing, and cool (in the summer heat). And finally the food was delicious. We had brocoli and mixed veggie pakora then the potato dosa starters. I had the daal mahkni, and my partner had the tabdoori chicken tikka, we also shared the garlic naan. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back.

Had the itison (£35) deal. Arrived at 17:15 and were told they needed the table back in 90 minutes. (fine, we only needed 60) they took ages serving the set meal and told us to move as 90 mins was up, we still had half a bottle of wine and a pint left to drink. (restaurant was no more than 1/3 full) food was nice enough although butter chicken was very sweet. We won't be back. Plenty of other Mother India restaurants in Glasgow. Not to mention Curry Cottage in Cowcaddens

Can honestly never fault this place. Undoubtedly my favourite Indian in Glasgow, flavours are always a step above the rest. Tonight’s service by Niranjani (alias NJ). Was also perfect. Attentive, happy, informative and a genuine pleasure. If you haven’t been. Give it a try, I’m sure the food and staff won’t disappoint.

really good meal last night at Lansdowne. can not fault the food, everything good, such as clearly home made onion bhaji. Lovely waitress too. just 40 yards off Great Western Road, but not everyone knows a fine Indian dining experience is here.

Absolutely stunning place and the food was astounding!

Visited the restaurant for the first time last week. Food was great and staff were friendly and very helpful and attentive. The menu was pre selected due to it being for a private dining event, however the menu looked extensive and I would certainly go back and sample the menu.

Took my wife for a birthday dinner for two. We were seated in the lovely glasshouse, which was a nice, quiet, intimate wee space. Starters were phenomenal. The fish pakora was light and tender in a slightly savoury batter with whole spices and a slightly aniseed sauce which we think had some fennel in there. The aloo tikki came with pomegranate and sultanas, giving little bursts of fruity sweetness. I had the king prawn achaari for my main, which had a beautiful balance of spice and citrus zing. My wife had wonderfully succulent, char-grilled chicken tikka. Service was great, too - no one hovering over every five minutes asking if everything was ok with our meal. We will definitely be back.

It's one of Glasgow's fantastic Indian restaurants. It's not a low-budget menu, but worth it in my opinion. Very happy to eat here as often as possible.

Sensational food, if a little slow service, not to worry, was worth it!

Oh dear first time ordering as I wanted something a bit more up market after reading reviews however wish I stuck with wee local Indian that does tea time special for a tenner This curry was lazy cooked I don't appreciate big bits of ginger in my mouth very unpleasant rice was also tasteless and big bits of mush also wasn't very warm on arrival so I assume it was left sitting Won't be back I'll be sticking with local when I can't be bothered going out and when I can I will drive to anarkali on Victoria road alot nicer than rubbish I got tonight People must be easily pleased or they don't know what a good curry tastes like Never ever have I had big chunk of ginger in garlic chilli chicken.

Booked for lunch and when we got there it was in darkness.We were told it did not open till 5pm.They accepted my booking and even sent a reminder email asking me to confirm booking.My friend called on Monday to check our booking was ok and told yes.Her son had been let down by them before so she was double checking.Not even an apology.I was upset our day out was spoiled.

We went to celebrate our daughter's engagement and hosted party for 25 people.We had the best experience of Indian food. Food was freshly prepared , authentic and flavourful, . Staff was lovely , polite and specially Uday Bisht was really helpful and provided the best service. Highly recommend this place. Best food in Glasgow

Food was amazing but service was not great! Items missing from order and around 50 mins wait between courses.

This surprisingly large restaurant had a wonderful tasty menu. I liked all we ordered and the portions were generous. The service was better than some 5 star resteraunts I've been too so I highly recommend trying the Lansdowne out. It was relatively quiet when we began our meal. Good selection of table beers and wines including Kingfisher on draught a particular favourite with Asian/Indian food.

Really lovely meal, authentic and superbly created. We loved the butter chicken and lamb dishes that had the kick of 🌶️ with a slow heat that worked brilliantly. Really engaging team, ideal local for anyone visiting Glasgow’s west end, and it’s only a short subway or taxi trip away from the city centre. Thanks for a super evening, we’ll be back for sure.

The food and service was phenomenal! Definitely going again!

Now a wonderful Indian restaurant. The veggie dish has a great hit of flare about it in terms of the serve and how it's selected. You are at the chef's mercy hahaha. High recommend this as even though it's a massive venue, they have sectioned it off very well to create great bubbles of atmosphere. Staff could not have been more helpful and even dealt with all of my questions about the menu with aplomb.

What an amazing Indian this is! Mother India at the Landsdown is the best Indian in Glasgow. It never fails to disappoint, with both the food and the hospitality of the staff. Love it.

Wow wow wow Great food, amazing staff, Never heard of the Lansdowne restaurant. Last month i visited mother india cafe kelvingrove. Where one waiter told me about the Lansdowne restaurant. You must visit this restaurant. The food here is excellent.! We all thought it was best indian food we have ever eaten at the Lansdowne. Also service is excellent. They recruited extremely helpful and polite staff who are a credit to them. Our waiter was shrijita and she was absolutely lovely! Any way for us everything was excellent from reception to departure. Will visit again in future when we will be in Glasgow.

Visited with girlfriend Authentic indian food in glasgow .before tried many others restaurants in glasgow in my previous visits . This time walking towards botanic garden i saw board of amit sharma at the lansdowne. Then i google lansdowne. Really impressed with the food pictures and then we both decided that we will go for a dinner in evening. I will highly recommend this restra to everyone . They have ala carte menu also and mumbai street menu also . We tried four dishes from mumbai street food which was very authentic taste of Indian street food We ordered aloo tikki Dahi bhalla Chilli paneer Chilli chicken Which was really great taste . Main course we ordered chicken tikka Southindian ginger lamb and peshawari dal makhani which was really fantastic. I will give 10/10 . Will visit again in future . Well done Keep it up . Ultra fantastic food, staff and their great manager Uday made the Saturday meal out there into an unforgettable experience.

We had an amazing meal at the restaurant tonight. Service was really good, fast and kind and everything we tried was delicious, especially the chilli paneer and the spiced scallops with crushed cauliflower. We will definitely repeat and recommend it to all our friends! It was good value for money as well. Lovely!

Heartwarming food with staff to match

Came here for a weekend lunch menu. Hard to complain for the price of the lunch menu. Starters were excellent, mains were decent if not a bit bland but the Indian dessert was very good. Friendly and attentive staff even with what we thought quite a rude customer that came up to the counter right after being seated to order instead of waiting for staff to serve them. Would go back

Food was delicious! Standard, quality and flavours, excellent. Loads of veg and fish options! A gem, with reasonable prices. Well worth a try! It will become a firm favourite after 1st visit for sure!!

High quality food with authentic Indian taste. Chief is brilliant in food presentation and maintaining the taste and essence of Indian prime dishes . Staff are on hand to help with any questions and efficient. Location is conveniently connected and easy to find parking around this restaurant. Must try their dal makhani and paneer butter masala. Wide variety of Indian street food also available. Which also very tasty. Due to recommend visiting with friends and family for a good time. Also serve excellent selection of alcohol and wine. Recommend for both sit in and takeaway.

First time I’ve tried this place - absolutely excellent, food is fresh, tasty and feels different to the usual high street curries. Service was really friendly, very helpful waiting staff that took time to explain the authentic dishes on the menu. Will definitely be back.

Great service and delicious food, as always. We had a variety of pakoras (especially loved the fish pakora with tamarind sauce) to start, and curries/rice/naan for mains. Lamb, king prawn achari, and salmon with puy lentils were all excellent 👌

Was searching for dinner in the area (almost nothing was open). Saw their sign saying authentic Indian food so I went in, and it was the best decision I made that night. The food was awesome with generous portion (I’m from NYC), staffs were all very friendly as well, if I could visit again I would!

Best dinning experience ever. I was with my family, we all enjoyed the food, ambience and most important hospitality. Staff was so friendly, I remember few names Amit , udhay and rosy. I really loved the food, kids just loved their chicken, me and husband vegetarian so we loved mixed pakoras , dhahi balle , saag , daal and I must say bangan bartha was so superb 😋 ( really loved the smoky taste, different from home). Looking forward for our next visit to Glasgow 👍

Very tasty food and service. Some of us did not tolerate spicy food so they kindly prepare some korma chicken/prawns. I also would like to recommend the pakoras and the hummus. Finally, this is one of the few places in Glasgow where you can drink a st Mungo pint. Again, increible service!!

This is a lovely place. In the most unexpected place. In the basement of a tenement in an upmarket street off the great western road. Google maps takes you there precisely. Which to mention first? Staff, dining room, food? Staff 5*. Really helpful. Dining room 5*. Piano music very relaxed. Food. 5* some old favourites and some interesting things. Green chilli fish pakora. A big veggie menu Yum. Reasonable prices satisfying portions. Above all. Just a really nice crew running the show. Massive recommend.

My family and I have dinner this evening in the landsdown restaurant and we are very pleased with the service and the food was excellent.

Had the most amazing time at The Lansdowne, the food, drinks and service were all incredible. All the dishes were prepared flawlessly, Chef Amit Sharma is an absolute artist and the whole kitchen team created wonders. Dhar, the management and the staff were incredible as well. Absolutely one of the best places for great and delicious food and an overall great time.
