Met up for a girls lunch…. A lovely warm welcome and attentive service. We all chose to share a plate of whitebait with tartare sauce- a very generous serving - crumbed and crunchy- delicious. We all had sea bass with wilted spinach, sautéed potatoes and tomatoes- beautifully cooked and very tasty. No room for pudding unfortunately!

Lovely meal but I'm afraid it was spoiled by other customers with four very yappy dogs. If people really have to bring dogs into a restaurant then they should be placed away from other customers wanting to eat their meal in peace.

Beyond atrocious. The food arrived looking cold, boiling in the middle- it's microwave happy kinda pub... The picture is of one of the side dishes for Sunday Roast. God knows what it was supposed to be, but 'cat sick surprise' is probably the best description. Toilet had a half broken avocado sink from the 80s with a mismatching cheap toilet, brown flower tiles, and fake hydrangeas in vases. The ingredients themselves are probably pretty good given the pub have a farm. But you wouldn't know it with the butchery occurring in the cooking skills. Avoid.

Recent evening meal for son's birthday We all ordered the whitebait to start That was a meal in itself! The mains we had were fish and chips, the venison sausages and the chicken schnitzel. The presentation of the food was excellent. Each dish piping hot and delicious. The pub promotes locally sourced produce and this is reflected in the taste of the food. Sadly we were too full for dessert but heard a chap on the next table say his cheesecake was the best he had ever had! The service was excellent, the staff very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere here is lovely and the pub is located in a divine place. We have eaten here on several occasions and each time has been superb. Keep it up Langton Arms!!

Terrible food on a Friday night, not sure what it’s awarding winning for but it wasn’t for the food they served us!! Crispy beef salad was not crispy in fact it was the opposite and it wasn’t a salad!! There was a mound of beef on the side of the plate with a mound of lettuce on the opposite side - a crispy beef salad this is not! The scotch egg starter was also very soggy and not at all crispy or golden. The special of monk fish scampi again suffered from not being a crispy scampi and once again had a soggy texture with the monk fish bring very tasteless. Overall very poor

Reasonable value for money with very pleasant staff and a simple, comfy and clean room and en-suite. Supper was great and a generously-portioned cooked breakfast set me up for the day although they were sadly short-staffed at breakfast but the lady couldn't have done any more than she did if she'd had roller skates and another pair of arms! If there is a function on AND it is raining, do take your umbrella as you can't access the room from inside the pub - you have to go outside and round the back.

Wine list is small but that isn't necesssarily a bad thing. The red Chilean I had was superb. The prices are pretty average but not over-inflated gastro pub prices and for what you get, is most definitely good value. It was one of the best pub meals I have ever had. The menu was varied and had a great selection. The best bit of all was we were able to have breakfast the following morning even though we were not really resident (motor home) By breakfast it was a full one at £13.95/ head, fantastic value and saved us the washing up! Not sure which planet the recent whingers come from. Good food, not over-priced in my opinion (and I'm not wealthy) and perhaps best of all in these strange times, the welcome opportuniy to dine 'al fresco' in the nicely-realised individual gazebos. All four of us enjoyed our lunches (all different) and for those that are not local (as none of us were; this was a good mid-point meeting place), Kingston Lacy (National Trust) is nearby and well worth a visit. Just one observation. Staff serving food at other pubs/restaurants visited recently wore face-coverings. This was not the case when we ate at TLA (two Saturdays ago) Oh, and try and make sure that you don't run out of Crabbies'! Recommended.

Have eaten here a few times and appreciate good quality comes at a price and that has never stopped me.Last visit a pie at @ £18 is a bit much. of course very lovely but the overall menu is very limited and not that exciting. Lasagne/sausages etc.. A couple of fish dishes but with a butchery quite meat centric. Starters are very boring in choice and not tempting, apart from the mushrooms I would say, and afterwards although OK at £8 + felt going through motions good range of Carafs of wine is something they have got right and staff are extremely good but feel they are stretching it a bit now as maybe a captive market as most Wimborne area pub eateries are not that great.

We have frequented this pub regularly and in fairness the food has always been great.... and with a lovely peaceful country garden backdrop. On this occasion we had a pretty awful meal presented. It was a lovely September lunchtime and we sat in the garden. An umbrella on our table got caught by a gust of wind and blew high into the air, knocking over my fresh pint of cider. In fairness they gave me another glass straight away, being very apologetic as the umbrella hit my wife in the face on its way up! We reviewed the menu and noticed sadly that the crumbed ham salad and fries were missing, having devoured them on many previous occasion. We asked if it was available and they politely agreed to prepare it for us. When the food arrived we noticed the chips looked smothered in fat, either goose or duck fat we thought, but sadly they must have been turned straight onto our plates rather than drained on paper and the whole plate of ham and salad was rather spoiled by a thick layer of fat. As we had ordered in the garden we paid upfront. What we should have done is complained, but my wife didn’t want to kick up a fuss after the umbrella incident so we left unimpressed.....

Our walking group used this pub as both the the starting point and lunch destination for a country ramble. Although most of us have homes within about 15 miles of it, it was a new experience for many of us. The pub is tucked away in a small village off a Dorset lane, with the least indirect approach across a picturesque ford. It is a substantial and well-maintained pub, standing across from the village church. Inside, a relatively small main bar might give the impression of limited space, but a succession of individual dining areas demonstrates that it is operating as a destination for many functions. We chose our lunches before walking, arriving back for a drink and our meals several hours later. With 18 of us, it was not surprising that after we had moved to our reserved tables, our food took some time to come, although most of us had probably hoped that the pre-ordering would have led to brisker service. We were all possibly a little surprised to find that delivery of the one course meals we had all ordered was preceded by a complimentary amuse bouche in the form of small cups of a delicious vegetable soup prepared with the pub garden's produce. When the meals eventually arrived, they were uniformly good, accompanied for most of us by a draft beer at prices which felt more appropriate for a city inn than a country pub.

The family that own the Langton Arms also own a farm, a farm shop and butchery and grow vegetables on their own land so the ingredients for every meal are of a high quality. (They also have a function room, staff accommodation, are licensed for weddings, have a self-catering cottage in the village sleeping 10 and a holiday let in Turkey ideal for honeymoons, so a bit like the Dorset Mafia they have everything sewn up - But in a nice way)

Attended a special birthday celebration her for Sunday lunch. The service was faultless - professional caring and not intrusive. The food was without fault - Sunday roast children's meals and fresh vegetables. We were not rushed and were attended to in the best of fashions. A must if you are in the area and looking for super food at very reasonable rates. Excellent - many thanks

Outstanding country pub, lovely spot for a summer's pint in the garden in a nice quiet village. Also plenty of room inside on colder days after a nice country walk. Good range of drinks and various options for food, not especially cheap but quality all the way.

It was some time since our last visit so we booked in for Sunday lunch. The service remains excellent, attentive and knowledgeable - top marks. On this occasion we ate in the restaurant rather than the carpenters bar and would recommend either. My wife chose roast beef but when she requested it to be "well done" the proprietor suggested opting for the braised steak (with all of the usual trimmings) - a really good suggestion. I had the pheasant - delicious. The selection of vegetables was varied and perfectly prepared. A nice Portuguese wine is available by the 50cl carafe, adequate when the driver has to stick with a soft drink!

A good competent Roast Lunch. Very busy and car park is limited. the beef and turkey roasts were of a high standard. We would seek to return when less busy. Staff were managing but seemed to be working at 110% the reason for a four star review along with the marginal overcrowding of the tables and some restriction of space.

Really good atmosphere and our first meal out with our dog! We were given a table in the corner of the bar area which was perfect. Other people had dogs too and they were greeted with biscuits and a bowl of water. The food was lovely. An amuse bouche of really tasty veg soup with bread( I could have eaten more), followed by baked camembert for 2 with gorgeous accompaniments, including the tastiest crispy garlic ciabatta slices. We both had very tasty beef, one pot roasted and one bourginonne. Great portions with lovely veg on the side. We shared a berry cheesecake with luscious ice cream. A great evening with drinks £70.

Very warm, attentive and friendly staff and the restaurant seasonally decorated. A friend and I decided to have a pre Christmas lunch here as we appreciate the true Dorset Country pub feel of the place. Our food was excellent, both in quality of products, taste and presentation. We met for a family meal and were welcomed and made to feel at home. Despite there being two other large parties on the premises, we were given attentive service and we looked forward to a memorable meal. Between the four of us, we chose Sea Bass, two small ploughman's lunches and one normal ploughman's lunch. The Sea Bass was attractively presented and a tasty meal. The small ploughman's came and were the size that I would consider was a normal meal. The normal size ploughman's was so large that I sighed in response to the meal being put in front of me.

We had a very busy weekend with friends from the North visiting for the Weymouth Ironman contest . The weather was beyond grim but when they left a very damp and wet Dorset we decided to visit an old haunt , The Langton Arms . We have been disappointed with this pub in the past but I can honestly say that we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of some very excellent food. It doesn't have a massive menu but the mushroom starter was excellent as was the duck breast and pate . The salmon and steak pie mains were first class and I certainly could not have managed a desert . This was all washed down with an excellent gin and a very good local beer. This is not the cheapest pub around but the food was very good . Thank you . See you again soon .

Visited Kingston Lacy and then visited this pub for lunch with eldest son and granddaughter, aged just 2. Granddaughter fell asleep in the car on the way so we made her comfortable in a window seat. Very interesting menu with many meats locally sourced from their own farm, butchery & shop. The chicken stroganoff and beef burger were excellent. Thea eventually enjoyed her chips and ice cream. Thanks to Lucy who looked after us all very well on table 4. Thea also liked the playground in the garden! Will return

We were greeted by very polite and friendly staff. They offered a nice varied Menu. The food was lovely. There was a choice of Four Real ales one of Which was brewed locally in Cranborne (The Sixpenny Brewery). I would recommend this pub to anyone who enjoys good food and a lovely pint. We visited here a couple of weeks ago for lunch on a Saturday. The pub itself is really nice, the staff are all very good and the food is delicious. What really tops it all off is the amuse bouche served before your meals arrive. On this particular day it was vegetable soup with celery salt and a slice of really lovely bread. As I’ve said above, you cannot fault it.

My husband and I went there for lunch this week - our second visit. Both times the food, service and ambience were all excellent. We had the added unexpected bonus of being served an 'amuse bouche' of home-made vegetable soup which was delicious, as were all the other items we had - the homebred gravadlax, the beautifully cooked and presented chicken livers, and finally the very tasty burger from the on-site butchers with home-made coleslaw and rustic chips, and a really light brioche bun. A wonderful experience.

Visited this pub for lunch on August the 5th. My son ordered a meat pie, chicken I think, and I ordered a twice-baked cheese souffle. My son said the meat pie was edible but he wouldn't queue up for it. My twice-baked souffle was inedible. It was as flat as a pancake, with a tough skin and the bottom was badly burned. I had eaten at the Langton Arms before and though the souffle wasn't top class at least it looked like a souffle and it was edible. The bar staff seemed indifferent to my complaint. I emailed the Arms afterwards and complained about the poor quality of the food but received no reply. The bill came to £38. Never again.

On another baking-hot day in August we had lunch in the pleasantly cool restaurant (thanks no doubt to the very old thick walls of the original building). The welcome and service was attentive, professional and friendly with the food arriving at a relaxed, and enjoyable pace, so we felt unhurried and enjoyed our meals. It is a very well maintained beautiful old building in a lovely setting next to the village church. Well worth any detour you might have to make to get here!

We turned up unexpectedly on a busy Saturday evening. But when we realised there was a wedding party, we didn't think there'd be room for us. Fortunately a table was found, the welcome was fab and the home-grown food excellent. We were on our way home from abandoning our campsite due to wet weather, and this was just the kind of pampering and delicious meal we needed to cheer us up. And there was a field to park the trailer tent for a couple of hours - just perfect! Thank you - I didn't catch the name of the member of staff who found us a table. Thanks again. Really lovely service and tasty food with plenty of choice.

Food very good as always, but menu needs to include more lighter dishes, ie. Salads and more basic selection of baguettes etc. Had quiche many years ago and that was delicious. However, my husband was appalled at the way the bar man spoke to a younger member of staff in front of the customers, he had dark hair and stocky build and our guests were amazed at his cocky manner. The soup was delicious as always.

Sunday lunch was a treat to end a busy week of moving home. The setting is delightful,; over the ford and adjacent to the church. We opted for traditional roasts although every item on the menu looked appetising. Portions were generous, nicely cooked and served by delightful staff. I would recommend booking in advance as it is clearly a popular location.

Saw this pub but past it from Blandford Forum direction, and we were hungry. Luckily there was a right hand turning where we could turn around 200yrds away. Good size car park, warm greeting, and extensive menu for a pub lunchtime! I had a delicious beef stroganoff, and hubby had game pie with stilton. All hot, and home made. Such a refreshing change from all the same chain pubs. Portion sizes are generous, interior homely and plenty of space. Lovely big fireplace, prices reasonable, well worth a visit!
