The Lane Paisley in Renfrewshire

My friends and I visited the lane on Saturday night. Once approached by a goth/farmer like barman to see IDs. All of us, 20 years of age were refused service however the barman proceeded to tell us that he believed one of our IDS were real and therefore the one friend could buy us drinks (more illegal than serving us). As the night went on we met many other women who had been told the same also all of age and very unhappy with the experience as we felt very judged. Barman also seemed very sexist as he wasn’t even asking for males ID and only refusing women.

We visited this establishment on a Friday evening, 3 of my friends were allowed entry and 1 was refused due to wearing “sports clothing”. He was wearing an Adidas which the door staff deemed as “sports wear” despite my partner wearing the exact same top just in a different colour? Upon querying this “rule” I was told they do not have a policy in place, nothing was on display to notify customers of this and nothing is on any of their social media. I asked how would customers know to dress appropriately if it is not advertised anywhere. We have been to the lane a few times and my friends have worn the similar clothing every time. There was other people in the establishment already dressed similarly too. I asked the staff why we were allowed in earlier in the week when my boyfriend had a football top and shorts on (surely this is more sports wear than a branded T-shirt?). I was told the rules are different because it was a Sunday, if this is the case it should be advertised. I understand if they have a dress code but this should be available to customers so they can dress appropriately for the venue. I would say the lane is a casual bar/restaurant so do not see any reason why an adidas T-shirt is deemed to be unacceptable. It is a shame because we had planned to spend our entire evening there, from around 7pm-12am, between the 4 of us they have lost a lot of custom and future custom. Highly disappointed.

Have been a few times for drinks, liked the look of the menus so decided to come here for food for the first time. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend the salt and chilli sharer. Enjoyed the mains and the venue is top class, looking forward to coming back. Great value for money too.

Very disappointed.took my son on tuesday night for his 21sr birthday dinner.place was frozen.i ordered chicken fajhetis.wraps were rock hard.all I could see on sizzler was yellow peppers.had to hunt for the chicken.it was the tiniest wee cubes of chicken and it was covered in chilli sauce.my son got balmoral chicken.u could have broke your teeth with the bacon.loads of chips covered in salt..I had to put my jacket on would have liked a cocktail but I was too cold to stay.had to get home to warm up.so disappointed because it was a special birthday.

Don't be fooled by previous reviews on here, this place is my go to for food and an amazing night out, it has been for over 2 decades. The interior is superior in comparison to anywhere else in the west of Scotland. Nothing comes close, Walking through the doors lets you believe that you are still outside with its cobbled street effect, which lets you choose 2 separate bars to drink or eat in. The beer garden is great in the nicer weather. The toilets are spotless, which is a rare sight in Paisley where pub landlords seem to neglect. The food is out of this world. The salt and chilli chicken is mouth watering. The burgers are delicious and the wraps are packed full of ingredients. The portion size you get for your money is delightful. They also deliver through just eat for when you're not in the mood for leaving the house. The staff and new improved management are so friendly and will go out of their way to help you find a seat when you arrive. The door staff are also approachable and friendly. I have never had bad night in here due to the professional capacity that the staff conduct themselves. Drinks prices are very competitive, with many deals much cheaper than other nearby bars, and great deals on delicious cocktails. All of this shows why The Lane is the busiest bar in the town at the weekend.
