Loved this pub it has a real cosy welcoming ambience and a great mix of tradition with the nod to king richard (artwork is fab) and modern layout. Loved the gin terrace and choice of gins. Hubby loved the choice of ales. Yummy vegetarian green veg risotto that packed a punch of flavours. Plus a tasty creamy berry pannacotta. Great atmosphere welcoming staff. Plus tikki pods outside next time might need one of them! X

Nope. Having a laugh. Staff friendly. Great with allergies. But the prices...just simply ridiculous. I get things have gone up. I understand that. But for a roast it's £23.95 for 2 thin slices of meat, 1 yorkshire, unlimited (reheated) roasties, unlimited cabbage & peas plus gravy. And then if you wanted 2 cauliflower cheese florets it was £5, 2 stuffing balls was £5 and an extra yorkshire for £2.95. Goodness me. No. Only because we were with friends did we stay. Head to Gelsmoor at Griffydam for £16.95 you get it all on your plate and it tastes phenomenal.

My husband and I went to The Lancaster Arms for a Sunday lunch. We both ordered the turkey. It came on a Sharing board with green veg, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy. We also ordered some sides, red Leicester mash, honey roast carrots and cauliflower cheese, Everything was cooked beautifully and was so tasty, the roast potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy inside and tasted so good we finished them quickly and were bought another portion included in the price! I would definitely recommend the red Leicester mash as an extra. The staff were fab too, we were served by Millie who was lovely and looked after us well. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and a great red wine selection. We will definitely be back!

This has to be one of the best Sunday roasts in Leicestershire! The service is fantastic and very attentive from all the staff and focused on giving the best service and experience possible. The food was amazing, nothing we could fault, the sharing board worked well with a couple of additional sides, but personal preference, the sharing board is more than enough. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere and the patio area is great for a drink after dinner. This was our first time visiting for a number of years but we'll definitely be returning with friends and family.

First visit to the Lancaster . nice place and surroundings . we ordered a sharing platter with beef and lamb, food came very quick which isn’t a good sign but nicely presented and looked great, we soon realised some of the items were more fresh than others. the beef was awful (a cheap cut) and certainly not sirloin as advertised on menu, blood rare but really tough and we couldn’t cut it, the lamb was a bit better but very tough also . roast potatoes were solid and possibly could’ve been a couple of days old .yorkshire puddings were not fresh, the carrots were nice though! and Staff were pleasant. I’m not sure if we were unlucky but it felt like we were served leftovers. very disappointing for the price.

WE had an amazing Sunday Sharing meal here last Sunday for my daughters 30th Birthday. We reserved the private dining area so that the little ones could run around safely and without bothering everyone else. It was a boiling day but the room was soooo cool inside. We are able to get there earlier to decorate and had plenty of space and tables for the cake and decorations. Karen was our server and made sure we understood how it all worked and answered any questions we had. She was in and out during the whole meal to make sure we had everything we needed. The bar was just outside the room so really easy to get to and purchase our drinks individually which helped with the bill at the end. The way they do their sharing menu meant that there was plenty of food to be had for everyone and was quite refreshing to be able to choose what and how much you wanted without making additional orders/charges. The food itself was delicious and everyone really enjoyed it. It felt like a massive feast. We asked if we could bring our own cake as it had be specially made and they were absolutely fine with it as we also bought our own knife and napkins for it. Karen even put a lighter in the room so we could use it for the candles. I would definitely return for a normal meal here as the gardens were so inviting. We are also booking for our next special birthday celebration as we were so impressed . So a big Thankyou to all the staff at the Lancaster Arms

So very sorry but after eating brunch with friends 20/7/24 our grilled breakfast was very disappointing compared to our other visits. Our bacon was hit/ miss whereas crispy then undercooked which wasn't nice. Previously we have had 2 x bubble/ squeak delicious squares, we received a tiny one hidden away and all was overwhelmed by a large pot of beans. My husband agreed that our mushroom tasted ' odd' .I asked for a medium egg as opposed to 'sunny side up' and had to return but still not medium when refreshed. Tomatoes/ bread good, sausages were acceptable but didn't appear to be as good a quality as previously visited, feedback would be good as it could just be my taste buds... Chelsea was so lovely and friendly, Ian and Anya surpass themselves with providing top quality ingredients and food usually, and they are wonderful people who work so very hard to give the best service possible! A wedding was booked for 1pm in the gazebo area and we vacated to the lovely garden area at 12.45 , I would like to think Chef was under pressure due to this, even so, not our problem and didn't really enjoy our brunch, average and not WOW! Which we expect from the Lancaster given we spent over 100.00 for brunch, we expect more...so sorry Guys 😘😘😘

We went on our friends' recommendation. We were shown to a table in a corner so dark (it was still light outside) that I had to use my phone light to even read the menu. Service was swift and three of us ordered starters. As there was only one set of cutlery per person, the server returned to the table, threw three extra lots of cutlery onto the middle of the table with "Help yourself". Our starters, we all had the prawn cocktail, was different and very good. My wife and I chose the beef strogonoff advertised as strips of fillet steak with mashed potato and asparagus. I asked if I could have rice, as is normal wit this dish, to be informed "we don't do rice", The food duly arrived and I was somewhat surprised at the small portions. The steak was tough and some of it inedible although we did manage to chomp our way through most of it. I have eaten this dish, and cooked it myself many times, and this was definitely not fillet steak. The accompanying asparagus consisted of one stalk cut in half! At £20 each, a real rip off. Having commented on the quality of the steak, we were offered one free sweet although two of us had suffered. By this stage, our friends were hugely embarrassed at our treatment and it was they who complained. The sweets were also accompanied by the throwing of the dessert spoons onto the middle of the table with thee usual "help yourself"

im going to be honest here and just say it as it is, this is the most expensive carvery ever, they put a twist on it with table service but its still a carvery, and there is nothing wrong with that but for the price £22 for a sirloin, you get one piece, not a steak, more a thick bacon rasher slither, £16 for basically one pork chop, for these prices when you leave you should have a good feeling for what you just ate, but its a carvery, unless you are from mars its impossible to do a bad carvery, and the lancaster arms does a decent carvery but the prices are crazy for the meat, i go to a local award winning butcher and i get 4 sirloin steaks for what i paid for a 2mm thick slice, so will i go back, sadly no because the £9 local all you can eat carvery is exactly the same and i dont need a loan to pay for it. also dont forget either that the only unlimited is the veg and roasties, mash and all other sides are £4.50 each and you dont get much for that

It was served on a cold board potatoes where dry and hard, vegetables where un glazed and gravy tasted like a powdered bisto i ordered a side of cauliflower cheese thinking it would be nice and hot but it was the same cold as the potatoes, we asked a waitress to exchange the roast potatoes for new hot ones which she did willingly and she informed us that they are stored under hot lamps in service so the longer they sit the colder and harder they become. I would not recommend the Sunday board. The potatoes were hard, dry. Possibly through being left in the warmer. The sirloin is basically one thin slice of beef 3mm thick max. The veg was OK. Gravy is tasty but thin. The only thing I genuinely thought was outstanding was the Yorkshire pudding. The crumble was very poor .. it was more like saw dust. Tried here for a Sunday lunch today and what a disappointment it was. I honestly wish we had stayed at home and saved our money as this must be one of the worst Sunday dinners we’ve had. Presentation wise it looked lovely but unfortunately the food itself was very poor. For the price you are paying you expect a good standard but this just wasn’t met. Me and my partner had the lamb/pork option - for £21 each we got 1 slice of lamb, 1 slice of pork, an over cooked cold Yorkshire, a mixed veg melody which was mainly cabbage with a couple of carrots (seemed like something from the freezer) and roast potatoes. If you’re thinking of ordering a side of cauliflower cheese for £4.50 - don’t bother - we couldn’t believe how small the portion was and taste wise it was very underwhelming too. My partner took advantage of the unlimited roasties as he was still hungry and must admit the second lot were much hotter and fresher - probably the best part of the meal. But overall it was a very poor meal out - would not recommended or return.

Visited for Sunday lunch, lovely cosy pub with a good atmosphere but the food really lets this place down. We ordered the sunday roast which comes out on a sharing platter type thing. Between 4 of us, we received a small portion of meat each, a small bowl of veg and roasts barely enough to feed 2 children. Although it states on the menu that these are “unlimited”, when we asked for more, we waited over half an hour and never actually received these even after asking a member of staff to chase it up. The young lady we asked in fact laughed and told us the kitchen were slow. For £23 pp, you receive a basic sunday lunch and have to pay £4.50 extra if you want any additional sides which are also a tiny portion. The food actually tasted delicious so it’s a shame that the service and portion size let it down. For over £100 for 4 of us, we definitely will not be returning, you leave with an empty stomach and an empty wallet. Really really disappointing and not worth the extortionate pricing.

Visited on November 12th for an impromptu birthday roast, hadn’t booked so we were glad to get a table at 5.30pm. Things seemed to be going ok, restaurant wasn’t too busy so we could hear ourselves speak, but there was a strange atmosphere/vibe, the staff weren’t relaxed and seemed really on edge. Throughout the visit, we were served by four different members of the team, one being ok, one completely indifferent and two that didn’t seem to know who, or where, they were. The food itself was bang average, not awful, but nothing at all special. The desserts were definitely the high point, but with a very low benchmark to compare against. If you happened to get hit in the head by a gluten free yorkie for some reason, you wouldn’t be getting up for an eight count, granite hard. The low point though was the conflict between two members of staff that started in the bar area and ended up in the kitchen, via the restaurant. Proper Fawlty Towers style, shouting, swearing and other staff awkwardly loitering to catch it all. I don’t want that when I’m in a restaurant trying to relax and celebrate a birthday, it made for a really tense environment. Two drinks and a poor roast came in at around £33, overpriced and underwhelming, with the potential for a toe-to-toe thrown into the mix! Avoid is my advice, unless you like that kind of thing.

It’s been a long time since we have visited the Lancaster Arms, still the same great menu and lovely setting with a raging log fire that welcomed us. Bar has a great range of beers and the usual drinks, the Gin menu is pretty impressive and will struggle to find the range anywhere else. We enjoyed a good meal, service was a little slow and this is the only reason for us to score a 4 star vs a five, some other minor challenges that could have been overcome but the challenges in the restaurant and food industry at the moment need everyone to understand that challenges do arise. If your in the area give them a visit, food is tasty and generous portions, My favourite is the Smocked Salmon and Prawn starter, whilst the serving has changed its still a tasty dish.

A warning for families with young children - Best avoided Extraordinary prices for basic Sunday dinner After checking out reviews booked our first time for Sunday lunch with family and whilst food and ambiance were nice the prices were extortionate. The Sunday platter for 5 was served with little more than the same platter for 2 beside us ( just a couple more slices of meat but at over £100) served on extra small children's plates was way overpriced - effectively only 2 small pieces of meat each 8.50 for kids chicken nuggets 2.00 for small glass of blackcurrant squash and 6.00 for a child's ice cream cone We really felt like we had been robbed and definitely won't be back as service was very slow and way overpriced for a basic Sunday lunch £200 with no starters or desserts !!! The adjoining table complained as well -enough said

Fantastic pub/restaurant popped in for dinner on a rainy October evening. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and is very inviting. Food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Special shout out to our Server Karen who was excellent! So kind and friendly. Highly recommend

Visited yesterday. Very disappointed. When we went to the bar to order and was told burgers not available. 6pm? Ordered pie. Pastry was burnt and dry. Vegetables soft and tasteless. Never again. Such a shame as the bar and decor was beautiful.

Visited The Lancaster Arms on a Friday late afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The staff and hosts were super friendly and attentive. Loved the interior decor with its references to Richard III. The risotto was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented with an aged parmesan crisp which was to die for. Repaired after the meal to the gorgeous gin terrace outside with drinks to chill in the twilight. Definitely planning a return visit to luxuriate under the stars in one of the domes with a few friends and something sparkly. Highly recommend!!!

We booked in at 5.30PM so it was not very busy with only one other couple eating and two guys drinking outside. The waitress Karen was friendly, efficient and helpful. I had looked at the menu on line which seemed "OK" so was pleased with the large number of specials to chose from when I arrived. the food was excellent as was the beer choice and quality. Prices where acceptable if a bit higher than average but it is a lovely venue not a pub chain. I plan on going to try the Sunday dinner next month. That should be praise enough.

Held a birthday gathering here and Sharon, the chefs and waiters/waitresses made our evening so enjoyable. The food was delicious and I think the pies are up there as some of the best if not the best pies we have had. The clean plates spoke for themselves and I swear my brother-in-law would have licked the plate if he could have got away with it. He had the Chilli. Lovely surroundings. Highly recommended.

Extremely poor experience that was very unprofessionally handled by the team at the Lancaster arm. Would not recommend. After paying a deposit for 10 people to hire out the private cabinet room being moved out of a private hire room to a main table in the restaurant due to a family bereavement & illness. This was questioned as the booking was for a private room, deposit held by the Lancaster arms although they did not provide the room which the deposit was booked for. Will be taking further. When calling to discuss we were hung up on.

Massively over priced for a family of 4 and thats with desserts taken off as an apology for terrible service. Waited 40 minutes for 1st drinks, an hour and a half for mains. Steak was overcooked when asked for rare, dessert was stone cold when advertised as hot..... Very disappointed. Not particularly helpful or friendly staff. Beautiful setting but wont be going back

Sharon and the team were helpful and accommodating in the run up to the event and everything ran really smoothly. Dreadful, meal booked for 7pm, mid-week, hardly anyone in the pub or restaurant area eating, and our mediocre meals for our party of 8 finally arrived at 8.40pm……waiting one hour and forty minutes for one course only. Terrible service, drinks were slow in coming, we asked for mayonnaise and were brought tartare sauce. Absolutely awful, will definitely NOT be going again.

I visited with friends in quite a large group, service was non existent, every time we wanted a drink we had to go in from our seating outside and into the bar, meals were bought out staggered despite ordering together, sauces for meals offered before food arrived, food and drinks overpriced and staff don’t care. Messaged to complain and ignored, my advice would be to go somewhere else. Gone downhill lately, used to be lovely a couple of years ago. AVOID!

I had beef stroganoff which was lovely, the steak was not seasoned at all and what they call a “single” in an alcoholic drink is laughable also PLEASE if you’re in a rush don’t go here we book a table at 7pm and arrived early we’ve only just left now at 10pm the service is that ridiculously slow, infact I could go as far to say it’s the slowest service I’ve had. Unfortunately the nice beef stroganoff wouldn’t be enough for me to go back as the cons outweigh the pros.

We attended last night for a birthday meal as a party of 13 and sat in the outside terrace area. There was no table service so we had to go to the bar individually every time we wanted a drink. When we wanted to pay for our meal we were told she would bring the card machine out so we could pay individually but she then changed her mind and we all had to go in to the pub to pay at the bar again. So we wasted a lot of time at the bar instead of enjoying our time outside. I ordered pasta and it was very average and quite dry. Supposed to have been linguine but came as tagliatelle. Was definitely not worth the £17 that I paid for it. We didn’t order desserts as they were very overpriced £8 for a fruit salad! We would have ordered coffees but at this point we’re fed up of going to the bar. We complained to the ‘manager’ about the lack of service and that no one checked if our food was ok and she was very rude and didn’t apologise, even after one of our meals had to be sent back because it was so bad. We will not be returning!

Visited today for Sunday Lunch and it was lovely, a spacious pub with different bar, restaurant and outdoor areas, catering for all (Nice décor throughout and the added bonus of a real fire!) . The staff were lovey and enthusiastic to please. Serves traditional pub food at very reasonable prices and we all had different meals and all of us were pleased with the quality of food and service. My only feedback (and this is feedback, not criticism!) is that they only had one 'light' dish on the menu which was a Chicken Ceaser Salad.. which is what 'all pubs do and is probably the most boring Salad of all time lol .. if they came up with a different kind of 'Light Lunch' option then I think it would be a 100% from me, other than that, still 99% (I just had a main which was gorgeous and didn't eat the chips which made it a light lunch). Still gets 5 Stars from me despite this.

A lovely evening. Super food and delightful service from a range of hard working young people who worked well as a team to ensure we had a lovely meal. Range of food on the menu tempted us to try something new and we weren’t disappointed. Staff listened to our order and checked on our satisfaction. A great way to celebrate our anniversary and looking forward to returning to trying out something else on the menu! Already booked for a November treat!
