Very nice meal and atmosphere. Donna provided excellent service. Would have been nice to have more decaff coffee choices though.

The staff were amazing, they cared a lot about us and were very attentive. I will definitely return. The drinks arrived really quickly, with ice and lemon and then the lovely waitress took our order. The food arrived quickly and it was hot and delicious, I wanted more. We had some deserts which was speedily served and we sat down and enjoyed the quiz. It was fun and short and I will be coming again for it!!!

We had a very nice meal at the Gate today, the Hunters Chicken was delicious. Nice couple of beers and excellent, friendly service as always from the lovely Donnor.

Always great to pop in for a pint. Friendly, good old fashioned pub, serves good ales, beers and a great Sunday roast at a really good price. Always helpful and friendly.

Been here quite a few times and I was served by Donna and Sophie and they were fantastic although busy they had time to make conversation, the food was lovely too def be back.

Worst meal to date, we went for Sunday lunch and order 2 roast beef diners, the beef was that tough we couldn’t given cut it with steak knife and ended up leaving it, when mentioning to the staff apparently they knew all about it and it was a supplier problem suppose makes that makes it all ok then ? Surely if you have a meat problem why would you carry on serving it to end up with poor reviews Found the pub very cold looked like they had a heating issue only having a small electric radiator just the inside the door Won’t be returning any time soon

We were greeted by a pleasant lady who we later found out was Donna. We hadn't booked and she told us we could sit at any table without a reserved sign on it. We chose a corner table and server Emily soon arrived to take our drinks order. These were brought fairly quickly and our food order was taken by Donna not long afterwards. My husband ordered a sirloin steak, light version, and I asked for the Ultimate Veggie Burger, again the light version, with a side of fries to share. There was a bit of a wait for food but not unreasonable as by this time, the pub was getting busy and tables were filling up fast. When the food did arrive, it was nicely presented and well cooked; it's amazing how many times a 'medium-rare' steak arrives either over- or under-cooked. My husband said his steak was a little chewy at one end, and he probably wouldn't order another, but with a 30%-off voucher, wasn't bad for the price. I thoroughly enjoyed my veggie burger and salad and would definitely order again. Part of the reason for ordering the light version is to leave room for a pudding and these did not disappoint! I had Banoffee Chocolate Tart, which arrived really nicely presented and was yummy. My husband ordered apple crumble and asked for it with squirty cream rather than custard - no problem, said Emily. We both enjoyed the desserts and will definitely be returning to The Gate. Thanks to all the staff concerned for an enjoyable lunch experience.

Donna was absolutely incredible especially when she was serving us! She is very enthusiastic and sociable she was deffinetly the highlight of my trip here. Donna is extremely bubbly and is just a lovely person in general I loved my visit today thank you Donna!

We were served by Michelle and Donna who as excellent as always. The food is always good, value for money and good choice. The atmosphere friendly and welcoming and we always feel comfortable. Dotty particularly likes the dog friendly environment and the welcome she gets.

Always made very welcome, including Dotty the dog. Michelle and Donna are cheerful and efficient. The lunch menu is varied and you can choose either large or smaller versions of some dishes.

The man with the beard, who I believe to be the manager, wad extremely welcoming and very nice and knowledgeable on the food and drink. We had a wonderful experience and I'd definitely recommend coming here

Everytime we come here the food and staff are absolutely amazing. Michelle and Amanda were friendly and attentive. There was a wait on food, due to it being very busy which wasn’t a problem as the food still arrived very quickly. It was delicious and hot.

Last Saturday I went to the gate for an evening meal with family. On arrival I gave my name to the manager to be ignored. The food was OK but the place lacked atmosphere. When it came to ordering desserts at 8.50 the waitress said if you want desserts you will need to hurry as the kitchen closes at 9.00. We felt like we were an inconvenience. I've been going to this restaurant for over 30 years but will not return.

Very unwelcoming welcome from all the staff except the man behind the bar was friendly. Out of 9 meals 6 were barely warm.. 3 steaks were tough and chewy. Never had a check back to see how the food was or to see if we needed anything else.....or to complain!! I pre booked and there wasn't enough chairs at the table or enough cutlery. One waitress never cracked a slight smile or barely spoke! Very disappointed for a birthday meal! Won't be bothering again!

We have been to The Gate Inn many times over the past 24 Years since moving to Leicestershire. We were not disappointed on our visit this time. The staff, Donna and Fuzzy Shell made things special with their sense of humour which is very important to us. Going somewhere for lunch is not just about the food, it is also about having a laugh and a good time. Well done Donna and Fuzzy Shell see you again soon.

My wife and I visited with friends for a Christmas meal. The food was delicious and plentiful. I had prawn cocktail for starters which had lots of prawns and was very tasty. Main course was traditional turkey with all the trimmings, and this was hot, very well cooked and delicious. Christmas pudding with brandy sauce finished things off, and again could not be faulted. The staff were attentive, helpful and jolly. We could find nothing to fault but plenty to praise. Highly recommended.

We always have a couple of meals at the gate when we holiday in the caravan up the road. Shaun and Ellie are great and never feel rushed. Roast dinner on Sunday is the best around and is a proper traditional roast. Apple crumble is my favourite. The food and drink are so reasonable and service is 5 star. The first time we came to Gate about 8 years ago. Love this pub,very rural location,we only knew about it from people who lived there. Nice village pub, friendly staff.
