On arrival for a Thursday lunch we were told there were only two choices: sausages and chips or vegetable soup and a roll. Blackboards around the pub seemed to suggest more extensive menus at other times. There was no apology for the lack of choice so I can only conclude this is norm. I suspect it gears itself up for Saturday and Sunday trade but if you are coming in the week don't expect much. What was on offer was ok and the draught Guinness was good. The ladies running the place were friendly but the lack of any other customers probably points to the reality.

A really excellent Bed and Breakfast on the edge of the Cotswolds. We had a lovely en-suite room with a fridge and gorgeous modern bathroom with a large overhead shower. Carrie and Edith were the perfect hosts and Carrie’s breakfasts kept us going all day - the pub was relaxed and friendly - Ziggy and Dolly (the dogs) were particularly welcoming - we would definitely come here again

We visited The Lampet Arms for lunch. Sadly we were disappointed, the landlady was able to provide us with a fresh sandwich but it was not what we had hoped for.

What a pub! All my life I’ve been looking for a pub like this: affordable, friendly, the real deal! We bought 3 drinks, came to under a tenner. Lasagna and scampi were great - cooked on site and really tasty. All in al, a great place!

We walked there last night with the dog for a quick drink and stayed for dinner. Phyllis, the landlady, was a delight to talk (and a really good cook to boot). The pub is child friendly and dog friendly and the regulars made us feel very welcoming.

We stayed here while we visited a friend in Banbury. We loved the singularly quirky bar, it really made us smile every time we went in. Nothing was too much trouble and always being greeted with a smile was lovely. The ensuite room was warm, clean and comfortable. We are recommending to everyone.

Visiting with my son whilst he trained at nearby sibford school. Had a lovely meal here. Home cooked, good portions and great value. Phylis was lovely and a mean cook. Very homely and welcoming place. We’ll be back!

Called in en route home to Gloucestershire, what a unique place, super friendly genuine welcome, the food was very good, the fish and chips delicious (an ocean wanderer), the ham and eggs a hearty portion. Other establishments can learn a great deal from this village pub. As the warm genuine welcome, hearty food, and good beer is a winning combo. Thank you for a great lunch.

11 of us for a family and friends Sunday lunch... lovely service with lots of smiles and laughs. I had roast beef (and others a choice of Pork, Lamb or Chicken) - with all the trimmings and extra roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Great value, lovely pub and a cracking roast! Will return... now for some pudding I think.

I was staying in the accommodation for one night and so ate in the pub. I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect ... it’s a quirky place ... but I was very impressed by the service. As a woman on my own I felt very comfortable - I actually felt like I’d been invited into someone’s house! It was clear everyone else there were regulars and felt at home too. Great menu - lots of choice and excellent food. Home cooked and good quality. Very personal service - the landlady popped over to make sure I was ok and enjoying the food. I’ve already recommended it to friends and if I was staying again, I’d certainly have dinner there. Serves until 9pm.

A dozen of us were looking for a good place to eat on a golfing trip. We booked ahead and from a wide selection chose a variety including liver and bacon, braised beef, fish pie, lasagne, chicken curry, ale pie, gluten free sausages eggs and chips and fish and chips. Without exception they were excellent and generous portions to say the least. Extra bowls of chips and fish pie were brought out. To cook that variety, to that standard and serve together in a small country pub, deserves ny highest accolade. The ambience is a little quirky but so friendly I dont think I will be the only one of our group returning.

As a villager in Tadmarton I cannot give high enough praise to Phyllis, Des and Laura at the Lampet for giving us an excellent village hub. It is the focal point for our community along with the church and village hall, serves Hooky and lovely home cooked food. It is welcoming to locals and regulars alike and the old adage enter a stranger and leave a friend rings true here. Pay it a visit.

Really comfortable and quite room one of the best curries I’ve had outside of an Indian restaurant. Great Saturday night crowd with real locals and all the eccentricity that goes with it nearly as mad as my own local. I came up for a Kart race and hope we return this year just to give me the excuse to stay here again !

This is a really nice country pub. A warm welcome from the landlady, a good range of local beers and some from far away and a smashing pub lunch. The food is not fancy, but nice warm English home cooking. We particularly liked the pies. Our (small, silent and well-behaved) lurcher was also very welcome. There is parking at the back.

Just back from a wonderful, meal at this great village pub, a warm welcome from the moment we booked the table, via phone. On Arrival we were welcomed with such a warm and hospitable greeting, we ordered from a wide variety on the menu. The home-cooked food was tasty and plentiful, the steak was cooked to our desire, and the sponge pudding was as light as a feather! The pint of Hooky was perfectly kept, and the overall experience was fantastic. Deffo will be back, thanks to the lovely landlady and landlord!

My boyfriend and a group of our friends decided to go for a drive and find a nice country pub to spend a Sunday afternoon in the beer garden of and we came across The Lampet Arms. Lovely welcome and when we decided to stay for some tea, we were served very generous portions (one pal had to take half of her veg pie home with her!) and really tasty food. Would highly recommend!

Came here for bank holiday weekend with hubby our 8 year old and our chocolate Labrador. We've never been before and so glad we did as this pub was lovely, the breakfast we had was one of the best breakfasts we have had, all home cooked food. There was a live band on the night we stayed and we really enjoyed it, all the local people are very friendly and the owners will do anything for you, nothing was a problem, the dog sat in the bar with us all evening and other dogs were in there too. The room we stayed in was in a old converted coach house out the back, it was clean tidy with an en suite and the views over the fields were lovely. Lots of places to walk with the dog. Will definitely be coming back here. Thank you so much for making our stay to remember.

Excellent service, and accommodation available too. Arthur had just driven back from France and this was a mid-way stop before Shrewsbury. An extremely comfortable room and quality beer - what more could a man want. Thanks

Another fabulous evening meal in the Lodge at the Muddy Duck. Lovely cheerful staff, prompt service and great food served hot as it should be. This is still the best pub for miles around and well worth a visit. The only negative is (still) the absence of a lovely welcoming fire. The room is begging for it.

We had a lovely meal last week, sitting outside. The food was superb, and the service was efficient and friendly. I can recommend the home made nachos. Probably the best I’ve ever had! And a good choice of vegetarian dishes too. The place has a lovely atmosphere whether you’re going for a meal or just to enjoy a drink.

First visit here & first time in Banbury. Its inside the main shopping centre but just on the end of it backing on to the canal. Great place to sit outside in the sun. Its also inside a food hall area so you can order food and eat and drink at same time. 10 different beers on tap and some other cans & bottles in the fridge. You can also get some to take away. Staff friendly and helpful, sorry should of got his name, will be back. I didn't have any food but there is a big choice. Its a 5 minute walk from bus station

Our first visit to the Red Lion today for Sunday lunch. We visited with some friends, as the pub was the perfect central location for all of us. The pub was busy, but we were warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our table. The food was AMAZING - white onion and leek soup, followed by roast beef for me. Both dishes were full of flavour. The cauliflower cheese served with the roasts was delicious, we almost resorted to arm wrestling (jokes) for the last spoonful. The waiting staff were all really friendly, attentive and most of all fun - no surly untrained youngsters here. A fantastic afternoon with our friends, topped off with meeting the Chef on our way out - great to be able to compliment him and his team for a lovely lunch. Will definitely return and will recommend.
