We live locally but had never visited The Lamb. We were impressed. We booked a table on night where there was live music. The pub had taken the trouble to phone us to check this was ok and to confirm they’d seated us in the restaurant. The service throughout our meal and from every team member was excellent, friendly and attentive. The pub was packed, and we were advised that our food would take bit longer than usual to prepare. We appreciated the heads up and were happy to wait in what is a very traditional pub setting. The food was first class, tasty and well presented. Overall an excellent experience that compared very favourably with any of the local pubs we visit. We would thoroughly recommend The Lamb and plan to revisit.

The friendly staff were keeping the fire roaring in the bar area which made it feel very cosy on our recent visit. We enjoy going to the Lamb regularly and this time had me so cauliflower with grilled halloumi as our starters followed by fish and chips. The bar areahad a great glow to it and we look forward to coming back soon…

We were going to pop down just for a burger, but when we got there we found that it was Steak Night. So, 2 lovely steaks (we had some bread and butter to start) with pepper sauce, along with a really good salad and chips - cooked exactly how we wanted it and presented well. Excellent desert of bread and butter pudding (old school, with a twist). Second time we have eaten here and sure to come back. Friendly and polite staff, as always. M!chael & Tracy

If you’re looking for warm and cosy, a real fire, a great atmosphere and wonderful food then don’t pass this one over. The food here was outstanding, prawn / lamb and Linguini/sea bass. Really well cooked, great sauces and very tasty indeed. STP for pudding was us just being greedy but it was fantastic. Service was super friendly. Very highly recommended all round, what a great place to eat.

Great food let down by terrible, terrible service, staff disinterested, disorganised and even got our tables mixed up. Long wait for food, luke warm and best - shambles, won't be going back there again, pity as the food was excellent.

We went for Sunday lunch and oh my what an experience. Pork Scratchings to start - now, dont laugh - but, these were not your scratch n sniff in a packet, but large and warm - lovely. My wife had roast chicken and I had the lamb - and when it cam with its plate of meat, potatoes and the odd veg - then came plate of mixed vegetables and cauliflower cheese and another dish - i have forgotten what. We had some lovely deserts and drinks too. The staff are excellent, polite and friendly and not in your face. The pub itself is located down a small street has a large car park and looks nice inside too. We will be back. M!chael & Tracy

We have been several time since they have been under new management. Excellent food and excellent service. They should be more widely known.

Fabulous meal in a cosy, friendly setting which is still very much the village pub. Delicious food served by attentive but not-overbearing staff and the cheerful chef. Too many good dishes to mention but we particularly enjoyed the Venison Tartare starter, the Salmon with Brown Crab Croquette and the Fish Pie. This delightful venue is still fairly new on the scene, get in while you still can.

I'd just like to say what an excellent meal we had at the Lamb Tavern on Saturday night, I had the lamb rump which was perfectly cooked on a bed of samphire accompanied with courgettes roasted with parmesan, jus was top class and a small mash finished this plate brilliantly. My wife had the poached salmon from the Specials menu and our friends had calves liver and the chicken kiev, all delicious! The service was good with two waitresses and front of house manager all making us feel welcome. I don't understand why the restaurant wasn't full, it deserves to be!

We went to the Lamb for lunch. It's fairly cold inside both in temperature and the somewhat austere decor. We ordered our food when the maitre d finally arrived (he was elusive throughout). He managed to make mistakes with both the drinks and the food order, so not a great start. The food itself was overcooked, both the steak and kidney pie and the steak sandwich. Five hours later I still feel ill after eating there. I would not return.

We found this place almost by accident. It is a very lovely pub in a cotswold village. At last we have found a pub that actually cooks proper food from scratch. I have the liver it was superb and the home made sauce was yummy. My Wife had the pie. We were warned that we had to wait a bit as the dough was raw and needed cooking, we of course did not mind and my Wife said it was superb. We in oxfordshire have so many pubs and restuarants that just heat stuff up and open jars. When the food is cooked from scratch it is better for you and tastes a whole lot better. I could only give this place a five star but given the option it would have been a ten star. We will be back.

The young waitress was delightful. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, nicely seasoned, fresh and original. Portions were sensible and did not over-face you. Two courses were sufficient for £28 good value for money. Things that could be improved, it was cold and no real fire to create a cosier atmosphere. Slightly on the cold side both the temperature and the welcome but warmed up as the evening proceeded. A very nice chocolate presented with the bill.

Under new management, the Lamb Tavern, as it is now called, offers truly delightful and wholesome cuisine. My artichoke and poached egg were yummy, which I then followed with some liver with a bacon dumpling and accompanied with some massive onion rings. The only criticism is that there was a lot of gravy, and it would have been best if it had come by default with mashed potatoes to mop up the delicious juice. My dining companions had pies which they loved. We followed with desserts that were accomplished but on the large side, especially those served in glasses, so much that I could not finish mine. I will definitely go back again and will recommend.

Have used the Doghouse quite a lot recently and have always enjoyed it. Nice restaurant and good food, and the service usually from Helen is very good and cheerful.

We came for a family birthday meal, expecting a nice afternoon together. Instead, we waited nearly two hours for food that was nowhere near worth it. We ordered in two parts — the first took over an hour to arrive, and the second followed about 30 minutes later. No updates, no apologies, just a lot of waiting. When the food finally came, it was hugely disappointing. My daughter’s fish fingers were almost burnt, and the peas were rock hard. The jacket potatoes, which are supposed to come with salad, came with chips instead — again, no mention or apology. They were also so hot they were clearly microwaved. My mixed grill had chicken that was somehow rarer than the steak — completely unacceptable. Other diners were waiting nearly an hour for a simple salad. What’s going on in that kitchen? To make matters worse, we overheard staff blaming our table of six for the delays. That was the final straw. This visit felt like a complete waste of our time. We won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you’re ready for a very long wait and very little accountability

Best chips for a long time today from Leo's. Golden brown not dark brown. Cod in batter was great, as it usually is
