We have been several time since they have been under new management. Excellent food and excellent service. They should be more widely known.

Fabulous meal in a cosy, friendly setting which is still very much the village pub. Delicious food served by attentive but not-overbearing staff and the cheerful chef. Too many good dishes to mention but we particularly enjoyed the Venison Tartare starter, the Salmon with Brown Crab Croquette and the Fish Pie. This delightful venue is still fairly new on the scene, get in while you still can.

I'd just like to say what an excellent meal we had at the Lamb Tavern on Saturday night, I had the lamb rump which was perfectly cooked on a bed of samphire accompanied with courgettes roasted with parmesan, jus was top class and a small mash finished this plate brilliantly. My wife had the poached salmon from the Specials menu and our friends had calves liver and the chicken kiev, all delicious! The service was good with two waitresses and front of house manager all making us feel welcome. I don't understand why the restaurant wasn't full, it deserves to be!

We went to the Lamb for lunch. It's fairly cold inside both in temperature and the somewhat austere decor. We ordered our food when the maitre d finally arrived (he was elusive throughout). He managed to make mistakes with both the drinks and the food order, so not a great start. The food itself was overcooked, both the steak and kidney pie and the steak sandwich. Five hours later I still feel ill after eating there. I would not return.

We found this place almost by accident. It is a very lovely pub in a cotswold village. At last we have found a pub that actually cooks proper food from scratch. I have the liver it was superb and the home made sauce was yummy. My Wife had the pie. We were warned that we had to wait a bit as the dough was raw and needed cooking, we of course did not mind and my Wife said it was superb. We in oxfordshire have so many pubs and restuarants that just heat stuff up and open jars. When the food is cooked from scratch it is better for you and tastes a whole lot better. I could only give this place a five star but given the option it would have been a ten star. We will be back.

The young waitress was delightful. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, nicely seasoned, fresh and original. Portions were sensible and did not over-face you. Two courses were sufficient for £28 good value for money. Things that could be improved, it was cold and no real fire to create a cosier atmosphere. Slightly on the cold side both the temperature and the welcome but warmed up as the evening proceeded. A very nice chocolate presented with the bill.

Under new management, the Lamb Tavern, as it is now called, offers truly delightful and wholesome cuisine. My artichoke and poached egg were yummy, which I then followed with some liver with a bacon dumpling and accompanied with some massive onion rings. The only criticism is that there was a lot of gravy, and it would have been best if it had come by default with mashed potatoes to mop up the delicious juice. My dining companions had pies which they loved. We followed with desserts that were accomplished but on the large side, especially those served in glasses, so much that I could not finish mine. I will definitely go back again and will recommend.

We had previously visited this pub under its previous management where we had a great lunch. A little disappointed to find out the new management does not have a lunch menu anymore and there is only the main menu. Nevertheless we had stopped for lunch and committed ourselves. Food. Starters: We had a starters and a main. £9.50 for 6 pieces of calamari, and a smear of mushy pea on a plate, which in my opinion came straight out of a packet, and was an extortionate price for a disappointing plate of food. The other starter we opted for was chicken wings. For £8.50 we got 4 plain chicken wings drizzled with soy sauce and a scattering of sesame seeds, again not worth the money. Main course: the steak and ale pie was very good, home made a very tasty with plenty of veg and gravy. No complaints at all. However, the fish and chips was not so great. For £16 we were served a half decent bit of fish accompanied with 9 chunky chips and what was supposed to be mushy peas and tartare sauce. There was more tartare sauce than mushy peas but at least the lemon was chargrilled. Drinks: 1 x Diet Coke and a medium glass of wine which was very nice but at £10 a glass it should be. Service: it was quiet and we were served adequately. In summary, overpriced food and drinks. We usually do not mind spending good money on good food but unfortunately this is not the case here. A lunch time menu, as previously served, would help as other customers were also asking for sandwiches and lighter bites. It is a lovely pub in a lovely location.

Had Sunday lunch recently and it was wonderful, a special thank you to Ronan and Maddison for looking after us.
