The Lamb in New Forest

Just the kind of Sunday roast you are looking for! There are loads of place to find a Sunday Roast Lunch but few will match this. Generous portions, quality ingredients (the gravy will become famous!), comfortable and stylish restaurant, relaxed vibe. My roast beef was beautiful and the veg selection spot on...the added side of cauliflower cheese is a lovely touch and more than enough for two. The apple crumble dessert was 1) huge 2) perfect... the sweet cinnamon apple piping hot and the crumble on its own could be bagged up and sold! The service was swift and friendly, without being too instrusive - so thanks for that - not a great fan of continual "is everything okay for you?" Good value too, worked out about £30 per head for main, desserts and drinks (beer, soft drinks)

Haven't been here for ages but saw on Facebook that it was new people so we thought we would give it a try.. We were not disappointed food and presentation was good...Desserts were lovely as were the staff. Will definitely be coming back very soon

Such a fabulous lunch time meal. We went as a group of 6 and the service was 5*! Friendly and approachable. Excellent roast and I had the vegan Wellington meal and that was delicious. Child friendly too. Highly recommended.

Have eaten at this gorgeous country pub twice now and had an amazing meal each time! On our first visit we tried the burgers - I had the chicken burger and my son had the brisket burger. Both were beautifully cooked and presented. The homemade slaw was gorgeous and the chips were really well done. Service was great and staff were really friendly. We then returned a couple of weeks later to take my dad-in-law for Sunday lunch. What a treat! My lamb was incredible, the rest of the family had the beef which they report was of great quality and perfectly cooked. A great variety of vegetables, lovely toasties and a HUGE Yorkshire pudding. The gravy was tasty as well. Portions were perfectly sized to allow room for dessert and trust me, you do not want to miss out on that! My lemon posset with home-made shortbread biscuits was delicious. My hubby and son had the apple crumble and grudgingly let me try some - thank goodness as it was the best apple crumble I have ever had, just sooooo good!! The pub was busy but service remained really good with lovely staff and a roaring fire in the wood burner next to our table. A perfect Sunday lunch! The pub is under management by a new team, led by Jon. He and Lyn are such lovely warm people and their staff are wonderful. They deserve every success and I hope that more people hear about and seek out this fabulous pub!

We are here for Valentine's Day - Lovely food & service. The crumble was enough for 2 easily.

The Lamb has only been back open since the 27th Jan of this year so still early days for them. Saying that the young staff were friendly and an efficient service throughout our meal . The menu covered all bases including a separate Vegan menu which was refreshing to see in a pub. My husband had the Vegan chickpea curry and I had the triple sausages with bacon mash. Both meals were presented well and very nice. A small suggestion would be to provide cushions on the hardwood dining chairs for a bit of comfort and maybe have some warm lights in the windows to make the pub look a little more welcoming from the outside. Car parking at The Lamb is easy as is the access. They are also dog friendly!! Good luck to all of the team at The Lamb!! We will definitely be coming back!!

We tried out The Lamb Inn in Winkton which has recently been taken over by Jon and his team. We had the Sunday lunch and I can truly say it was the best Sunday roast I have had out for years! Roast Beef was perfectly cooked and a generous portion too. Great selection of roasted veg and a huge Yorkshire pud! My girls (aged 6&4) had the child sized roast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Family and pet friendly. We sat by the fire, the pub had a lovely atmosphere. We’ll be visiting again soon! Thank you!!

Really nice food had fish & chips , chicken burger & cheese burger! Homemade coleslaw! So good we’re going back ASAP, sat by the log burner, really nice staff and dog friendly! Highly recommended this beautiful pub in a country setting!

Very good Sunday lunch, excellent friendly service. Good portions, the fish was fresh batter crispy, the roast lamb was cut thick. Vegetables lovely and fresh too.. only one question why put beef stock gravy on lamb or pork? Especially if someone cannot have beef stock. Though the vegan gravy I had was very nice, no complaints with that at all

Lovely spot for a bit of lunch and a pint. A proper old boy's place but with the right level of charm and atmosphere inside to make it an enjoyable lunchtime experience. On a sunny day like yesterday, take your food and drinks into the peaceful area round the back and enjoy the nice, open, green garden space. I'd recommend the schnitzel for a naughty treat. Amazing peppercorn sauce, sauerkraut, and sweet potato mash!

New owners have greatly improved the food. Sadly, shortly after posting this review, it shut down AGAIN and as of July 2023 is closed with the landlord again seeking new tenants.

Outstanding. At last a New Forest pub with an interesting menu using local ingredients and produce. Highly recommended, delicious food, great beer (including well kept Timothy Taylor’s Landlord..) and wine, and excellent friendly service. (Now sadly closed. 3/7/23)

On arriving at The Lamb Inn I was pleasantly surprised. The pub looked warm and inviting. Sadly, the menu was rather strange, (English) we couldn't find anything English. The spring rolls were dripping in oil, the caesar salad incorporated lettuce giant hard croutons 4 anchovies placed in what one would call a finger bowl. The kimche tasted like cabbage soaked in vinegar. Need I say more!! The only thing that tasted good was the chips. Rather expensive at £47.00 for two!!! We are very surprised at the 5 star reviews??

Not been here for several years but, I will be going back. My daughter and I had the fish and chips which was nicely presented and delicious. Not sure what was in the batter but it was excellent. Not overly large portion which was fine for us. Inside has been tastefully decorated. I understand the owner is the chef. Well done ! Highly recommended. There is ample parking.

Good to see this pub has reopened recently under new management. Not much has changed decor wise but from the number of visitors on the Sunday I was there the food was flying out of the kitchen...so definitely an improvement. Drinks were slightly more expensive but the service was good and welcoming. And they allow dogs 🐕

A delicious Sunday Roast in the evening, tender perfect beef, amazing roasties and gravy! All really really good. Great speedy service and offered a kids meal which wasn’t on the menu. Arrived at the Lamb lnn.. Friendly atmosphere.. from customers immediately.. and greeted by Juliet from front of house & then Alex behind the bar. Service communication Perfect.. Then we knew it was going to be good here!!! ordered our drinks then decide we would have a meal too... We were asked if we wanted to sit in the restuaurant... We did, lovely setting thanks too Juliet for asking. We had the "Tapas dishes" with lots of selection to choose from our choices were delicious.. Compliments to the chefs. Great place nice atmosphere. Fantastic service and food. Thank you Lamb lnn... staff you made our visit...

Well done Colin and team. Absolutely delicious food and great friendly service. A great way to eat and try , English style tapas. Crispy duck & noodles, pancake rolls, fig & lamb crostini, new forest mushroom and truffle mayo toast and pulled brisket burger with chips were superb and very tasty. Good luck and be back soon.

Great pub. Welcoming with friendly staff, food smelled and looked fantastic (we were only drinking). Proper pub that's worth going out of your way for.

Although the decor is good and service was reasonable, there was no wine list and only 1 beer on offer. When it gets late there's too much focus on a couple of locals who turn the music up loud and become a bit of a nuisance.

I came on Sunday with my girlfriend and we had Beef Roast and it was delicious. The beef fell apart in your mouth and the gravy was Excellent, very warm and friendly environment. We will be returning in the future.

As this place has only recently reopened the food was slightly limited, but the menu was related to our requirements for a large family get together. Pizza's were handmade especially for us and if these get on the menu then I would recommend them, delicious. The staff are so friendly the location is nice the atmosphere lovely and the 2 log fires complete the comfort. I certainly hope that mine host get the support. Well done Colin and Juliet.

Lovely afternoon having a drink at the (under new management) Lamb Inn. Staff are attentive, kind and helpful. Excellent selection of drinks and really good atmosphere. We can't wait until they start doing food (approx 10 days time from 25th Feb). Would highly recommend.

Beautiful pub, particularly the garden with its cobblestones & verdant foliage. Drinks, rooms and breakfast were all 10/10, but unfortunately the chef was off sick so we didn't get to try the main menu.

A great road pub. Excellent spacious beer garden that the suns sets into. The food was fantastic I had the Chicken burger and my wife had the Lamb burger. Both were fantastic. Especially for the price. Even though the bar staff stated they had supply issues, they assisted us with recommendations for replacement drinks and were extremely accommodating. I would say the beer choice was lacking but due to the explanation I can't knock a star off for something that is completely out of the staffs control.

Good pub food. Great lamb shank but just ok ribs and overcooked onion rings. The service could be a bit better too.

Incredible food and a very welcoming pub. We took our Frenchie pup with us and she was well looked after. It was great to find somewhere that did lovely homemade food (thoroughly recommend the ribs) with good portions and good prices. The staff were friendly and attentive, including treats and water for our dog.

Superb menu and dog-friendly. It was very quiet on the Thursday we went but it can apparently get busy especially on Fridays. Well worth the scary narrow road!

Amazing amazing amazing sunday roasts! Food here is clearly so much better than the standard pub grub. New managers clearly know what's up. Lovely atmosphere and very dog friendly. Prices are also very reasonable (especially when you look at the prices of neighbouring pubs!)

Not family friendly at all! Won’t be returning to the lamb and as a local it’s very disappointing. Popped in, after a family dog walk for a quick pint. After a long wait for the I can only guess the newly training bar staff to serve us our drinks, we sat in the garden. Whilst waiting for our drinks there were a few rowdy gentlemen swearing at the top of their voices which was unpleasant enough for our children. Our children were outside playing when we were rudely interrupted by a member of staff asking us to keep our children quiet as there are people in the restaurant. I could not believe we were asked that after hearing all of the abusive language being shared at the bar. Poor service and poor behaviour toward local family’s!

Had fish and chips (fish of the day), the staff were very helpful. Plenty of parking spaces. Very comfortable seating at the tables, others of our group had, burgers, curry and meat pies, quite a big piece of fish, the chips were more like wedges, very hot, we all enjoyed our meals, there were 14 in our group no complaints, they take both cards& cash.

Lovely establishment, friendly and welcoming, even allowed my dog to lay on one of their sofas, she was very happy with that idea. She was clean and she doesn't moult so not a problem. Had she been muddy or anything I'd have sat elsewhere. They even serve J20! YAY. There are soany pubs that don't and have what they say is the equivalent but it's far from equivalent. Lol. Can't beat a proper tasting j20. Will be going again.

Recently under new management but with very little furniture it’s cold and uninviting, wood burners in place but not functional and it’s winter, the season of good will and cheer, not here!

UPDATE: Sadly Risaro is now closed (although I think the pub itself is still open). Original review: Great takeaway food! Tasty pub burgers, great chunky chips, onion rings and bbq beans. Slow cooked brisket was lovely and tender. And a couple of pints of draft beer to boot! Would definitely order again though, and look forward to visiting in person when lockdown ends.

If you go for a meal check first if the kitchens open if you just want a drink fine

We visited for a late lunch on bank holiday Monday the food was great and reasonable price the staff were very friendly and welcoming to us and our two dogs. Great outdoor space too.looking forward to going back 🙂

Empty on a Friday night. More staff than customers. No atmosphere. Food was passable. Apparently the "cooker" had just broken - funny that 2 to 3 other tables were eating when we arrived at 7 but the kitchen didn't open until 7.30 . Slaw missing off all 4 burgers, nor was there any cheese on the burgers. Fries were hot and plentiful. My burger was overdone and very black, others were better. We ate because we were starving. Expensive for what we had. Very disappointed.

This was our first pub meal out after lockdown. Neighbours said they had had good deliveries from this pub so we thought we would give it a try.The lamb is on the edge of the New Forest so quite rural and when we visited not very busy. It's part of the three pub RISARO chain which specialises in 'long and slow' cooked meats from their smokery. A burger with slow cooked beef and smokey sauce was tasty. A stew with brisket was also tasty but a bit glutenous and sweet from the root vegetables. Portion sizes were generous. Tribute and Sandbanks bitters were well-kept.Overall, the pub lacked any atmosphere as it was quiet and we had to sit outside. However, the landlord was friendly and the serving staff pleasant.

Great find on a bank holiday weekend. Food was top notch and the team at the Lamb were friendly and attentive. Met a lovely local Malcolm and his Westy Darcy who made our visit all the more pleasurable 👍

Had Sunday lunch here today 02.05.21 and had the brisket roast dinner it was amazing the meat just melted in the mouth the roast potatoes were light and fluffy on the inside and golden on the outside I'm not a fan of vegetables but my wife said they were cooked to perfection all the staff were very nice and polite.I could not fault this place and will be going back very soon I hope thankyou to everyone at the Lamb at Brockhampton for your hospitality it was amazing.

The delivery service is something we've used a few times over lockdown as we love the food from here. Our family favourite is the salted caramel /chocolate cake with cream, it's absolutely delicious, I imagine it's full of a weeks worth of calories but worth it! The children's meals are good sizes too. Lovely baguettes, burgers and chicken goujons.

Really great local spot. You can order online from your table, safe and up to date with covid rules. Fantastic slow cooked food, full of flavour! Great beer!

The food at the lamb is beautiful and the staff are very kind. We have ordered from the lamb quite a lot since lockdown and we can not fault them with delivery, food quality or staff. Tonight I turned up to collect my order only to find I had ordered the food from a different branch by mistake. The staff at the lamb sorted it all out for me and cancelled my wrong order from the other branch and made the food for me there while I waited. Very happy customers and we will sure be in to visit when you open. Thank you so so much.

We had a delivery of slow cooked ribs tonight. They were amazing. So tasty and huge. Will definitely be visiting the pub when it re-opens. Delivered on time and still hot. Thank you very much.

Ordered a takeaway from here today Maybe ordered the wrong thing for a Sunday as they were probably more concentrating on roasts. Burger was overcooked and dry , fries were soggy more to do with the packaging in paper would of survived better in a carton. My daughters veggie burger was really good. Honestly more like an average takeway than the restraunt price suggests it should be .Got a discount for ordering first time but 27 quid for two burger and chips of poor quality .won't order from here again .

Tier 4 lockdown and we decided on ordering a roast dinner from the Lamb. What an uplifting experience to be able to have a decent roast dinner delivered to your door. We had the Beef and it arrived bang on time and warm even though we are in xchurch. We eat out every week in normal times and really miss our eat out roasts etc during lockdowns. Their gravy is awesome!

My family and I, booked a table for some food on Christmas Eve. When we arrived it was very quiet - there was approximately 5 other people in the pub which seemed very quiet for Christmas Eve. The only other table in the restaurant was eating a packet of crisps as their “substantial” meal. They was very loud and clearly very drunk.The waitress (who was the only member of staff), was extremely unprofessional, wearing her face mask on her chin and was wearing a tiny dress. She didn’t really know what was on the menu and put us on a table at the back room, because otherwise she would “have to clean the tables in the bar.” In the end, we actually asked to be moved back into the bar because we felt the bar was a bit more Christmassy and lively. Unfortunately, we felt that overall the whole atmosphere was horrible and dead.The food was okay but wouldn’t recommend at all. Such a shame as used to be a nice pub.
