The Lakeview Restaurant in South Lakeland

We had the Lakeland English breakfast. The sausage was very hard to cut. The black pudding needed a chainsaw to get through it. The toaster was on the blink, cause you had to make your own. Had to make your own coffee or tea. At £12.95 each. I wouldn't recommend that breakfast to my worst enemy

Thought it would have a loverly place to have a meal after a long day sight seeing, gents had 5 out of 6 toilets out of use, we went for burger and chips, underdone burger, had a couple of bites and was in agony the day after, never again 😳

Food is disgusting Toilets 5 not In use , 2 in use but no toilet roll Lovely view of lake if windows were clean Would not recommend it to my worse enemy

Last visited here in 2022 and didn't have anything good to say - this time round total 180. I asked about a dog friendly section but was told I could sit anywhere! Headed up to the sky bar for a drink which has nice views and in summer with the doors open it was lovely! Friendly staff and decent prices for the area.

In alll honesty it smells revolting, I was really looking forward to a nice dinner but the Carvery was crap…………wish I had a pork pie!!!!!!!!

Walked in while on a day trip for a carvery. The place wasn't over welcoming but we were hungry so went to the bar to order a drink and a carvery. Bar person told me to sit down and he'd let us know when we could go up. It was weird, as I thought a carvery was self service (apart from the meat) it was like being in a school dinner queue. The person serving had the most disgusting apron on, the same serving spoons where being used for for numerous different items. I passed on the stuffing as that was just a pile of slop and also the potatoes, which looked dried put and clumpy. The veg had just been scared by the water, so hard! The cauliflower cheese tasted off!!! The gammon and yorkshire pudding was the only thing I dared to eat and that was just because I was so hungry! The less said about the ladies toilets the better, only one word, disgusting. I won't be returning.

If I could rate this zero I would. When entering the place had a funny smell I can't even describe it other not nice. 10 of us ordered Sunday carvery and sat down waiting to be told when we can go up and get our lunch which I thought was strange but never mind. We went to the carvery where the chef cut the meat I had beef which was tough as old boots my friend could barely cut hers it was that tough. We couldn't serve our own veg another chef did which I have never experienced before. The stuffing hadn't even been cooked and looked like slop, HMP probably does better stuffing, the mash was smash, the green beans and brocoli were frozen, roast potatoes which weren't roasted and gravy which was like water. I barely touched my dinner and wish I had asked for a refund. Nearly £20 with a drink. Will never return.

Arrived with a group of friends for lunch, had a cracking weekend and fancied a nice Sunday roast to finish off. Don’t even know where to start, limited selection of withered vegetables that appeared like they’d spent too much time on a sunbed, needed a chainsaw to get through the meat, cauliflower cheese- cauli didn’t get the memo to bring his mate cheese along for the dinner party, vegetables definitely didn’t contribute to your 5 a day as all goodness had been boiled out in a process that must have commenced the week before, barely touched the meal and came away extremely disappointed and hangry

Fantastic entertainment, brilliant service with breakfast so we came back for dinner for the football and had the most incredible pizza at half time! Great atmosphere! Thank you to Fay and Rob for being the best hosts! Would recommend to anyone visiting the lake!

Called in late afternoon..very quiet.. noticed a good few tables that hadn't been cleaned away..waited a while to get served as all the staff seemed to more interested in the football..did finally get served and went to pay with cash and they didn't seem to want cash but preferred that you paid with card! Couldn't have a lime and soda as the gas was for beer but was offered tap water! The only good thing was the food which was really good. Need to get there staff sorted out. Not sure I'll be visiting again

Food was awful. Overpriced and not nice. Potion of fish and chips was large but awful. Dry batter and fish, hard mushy peas. Spoilt the end of a lovely day.

Stopped here for a Sunday carvery as its in the middle of everything and says Carvery. Got here paid cash and given no receipt… half an hour later we were still waiting to be called up. Rude bar staff saying we will shout you when the chef is ready. The tables were filthy with previous customers food bits and empty glasses just left there What was the icing on the cake for me was the mash potato was SMASH! The roast potatoes had no filling, broccoli and cauliflowercheese was hard, carrots were mashed and tasted like plastic. The nicest bit of the meal was the homemade yorkshire pudding. Its not an actual carvery either the chef was plating it up for you. Im a vegetarian and my husband said the beef was really nice but he left everything else. I ordered a nut roast and didn’t receive it and had no gravy because it was only meat gravy. Was told they would heat some vegetarian gravy up and bring it over to the table… it didnt arrive. I would save yourself the money and go up the road to the Flying Pig Pub for the carvery there. We only really stopped here for the great views of the lake. Disappointing end to our trip

Tempted by the well advertised Sunday carvery outside we were disappointed to find it wasn't available. We were offered a plated Sunday roast, waited 30 minutes then got beef like shoe leather. We asked the young waiter to try and cut it but he said it wasn't allowed as a health and safety issue??? Yes it was so bad. He was unbelievably rude and simply offered a steak knife for a thin slice of roast beef... seriously !! We were eventually given a refund but I think that was just to get rid if us.

to start with i found the staff very helpful and pleasent the lady behind the bar i take it she was a manager very nice kept the place flowing i found it clean food really good and hot drinks ie beer well kept being in trade my self you can please some people other people not all the time

Went there for one drink. Waited a long time to be served by the one staff member even tho there were other staff doing little. The drink I ordered tasted off took it back to bar and felt like the staff didn’t care and that I was an inconvenience. The place it self was filthy. Didn’t even finish the drink we had to leave.

Stopped in for some food and had the carvery. The food was very good,vegetables cooked to a high standard and the beef was to die for,a goid cut of beef and the turkey was not dry. Thank you for a lovely experience and the staff are amazing 👏

Popped in for a light lunch, good to sit at the window and look out over the lake albeit the windows were very dirty. The service was good and the server very pleasant, good selection of light lunches. Before travelling we did look at this as a possible evening meal but would have been disappointed but great for lunch

Popped in out if torrential rain, what a warm and inviting pub! Had a bit of an issue with my meal, but the staff were 100% professional, accommodating, and very quickly resolved everything with a smile. Definitely recommend!

Extremely rude staff. You are being told off for having the window open when air conditioning only been switched on a few minutes ago. Had to pay up front but told to wait before you would be assisted with the carvery. Windows, tables everything is dirty. Will definitely not recommend or be back.

Wouldn’t recommend wasting your time eating here. We waited an hour for 2 jacket potato’s. After 45 minutes we got fed up of waiting and trying to keep our baby entertained, we could hear other tables asking where their food was and being told 5 minutes. Looking around no food was being taken to other tables so we decided to ask for a refund and was told it would be 5 minutes. Meanwhile it took longer than 5 minutes in the queue to get to the till as they only had one bar maid who had minimum effort and speed. When the food did arrive it was cold, if you’re going to take an hour to serve food then it needs to be worth the wait and in our case, it really wasn’t. Very disappointed, such a waste of money and just ruined our day out.

Let me start by saying thqt the food was generally ok and the seating areas were nice. However, they absolutely cannot handle their full capacity. We were here at Sunday lunchtime and it was bar service only. The queues to order anything were 15 minutes, and we subsequently waited an hour for food (based on the time stamp on the order receipt). This is simply unacceptable, there was no warning or apology during it, nobody to come by our table to say “sorry it’s taking a bit longer today” - I think this is just the status quo. After 40 minutes I went back to the bar and asked about our food. The lady went to check and said it’s just getting plated up and we’re next. Considering it took another 20 minutes for our food to arrive, that wasn’t the truth. I complained to the manager after the meal and she said they don’t have enough oven space, plus everyone arrived at the same time (is that surprising at lunchtime?), so stopped serving starters, but this clearly still wasn’t enough. Some of the food was pretty good, I liked the pheasant hot dog and my girlfriend liked her tomato soup. However, one of the party had ordered the steak and ale pie, and this was nothing more than a stew with a piece of puff pastry placed on top (see photo). Overall, I absolutely cannot recommend visiting this restaurant until they sort out what they’re doing.

Rude staff especially the older woman on the bar. The girl walking about in a mini skirt with a face like thunder was shocking as well slamming stuff around, they couldn't have been more miserable or rude if they tried. The place needs a good clean. The Lake View as it describes itself is a pleasant place to enjoy views across Windermere.... If younwant to experience the view through windows, covered in thousands of dead insects with spiders crawling everywhere, then this is ideal. Who wants to sit and look at the view through that? The place lacks atmosphere and the staff shouldn't be working in hospitality. There are far better places to visit and I dread to think how this place must treat foreigners on holiday, they must think the Lakes is a very unfriendly place. Avoid this dump at all costs.
