We came here for afternoon tea - the place was nearly empty, but we did not get to pick a table by the window because they were supposedly booked and apparently you cannot have afternoon tea without prior booking, so all we had was the scones. We also ordered two glasses of champagne which we never received. We had to go up to the counter because no one checked on us again. All in all, very poor service, the furniture and atmosphere are canteen-like and the scones were below average. Definitely wouldn’t come here again.

This used to be our go-to restaurant - the view across the lake is great. The portion sizes are small - which is ok you can have a starter and desert but the prices are quite high. We got some shoddy service there and twice got charged for an extra main course - always get the bill - seems to be optional there. Not going back.

We visited the brasserie for afternoon tea. I felt we were waiting quite a while before being offered tea and coffee, and when we were, it was disappointing that there was only one coffee choice. As I don’t drink tea and only drink latte and mocha. I was informed that there would be an extra charge, so I didn’t bother and asked for tap water instead, to which I didn’t receive a glass to go with it and had to ask. I also felt like we were an inconvenience to some staff members. However, the cakes and sandwiches were really nice, there is a nice ambience inside and we had drinks afterwards overlooking the creek in the sunshine.

Went to an afternoon cream tea. Venue was nice but disappointed with the cream tea. Tea was lukewarm. Presentation of the afternoon tea food was not impressive. There was no finesse with presentation. Food was ok. No butter packs provided for scones. For the price they charge would not recommend for a special occasion.

Was given a voucher as a birthday present to have Afternoon Tea . What a lovely relaxed experience and the food was delicious! Everything was extremely fresh . Lovely sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a delicious cake selection. We had recently had afternoon tea at a very famous hotel in Madeira which had cost nearly 3x more than Lakeside and for us Lakeside came out on top . Will return

Myself and my family all came in for a lovely lunch/dinner at the lakeside brassarie! we had a 3 course meal and the food was extremely exceptional. The chefs were more than happy to change a few things one one of the dishes and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were fantastic. Lovely service from Antony and Adrianne and fantastic cocktails from Chris the barman. We will be back!

Cannot fault! We came here to celebrate my birthday and I was surprised with an engagement as well. The staff at The Lakeside made it extra special with amazing food, service and venue. There was 14 of us and we completed a pre-order, all food arrived without fault, with no waiting. Everyone was very complimentary of the food and service. Delicious. Then, to top it off, Anthony was amazing treating me and my partner to a glass of Prosecco and organising a congratulatory dessert for us (see picture, it was amazing!) Thank you to the staff for making my birthday/engagement celebration very special. To top everything off, I had balloons, wine and flowers in my hotel room and an amazing massage in the Spa. Thank you very much.

Really enjoyed our lunch, the service was faultless and food good. Our starters were enormous but main courses for some were disappointing. The cod loin was amazing but small. The roast beef and roast lamb again were very good, but 1 thin slice of beef was ridiculous! Desserts again really tasty but the enormous dish the miniscule sticky toffee pudding was served in made it look quite mean and with a teaspoon of ice cream!! We will return but it would be really helpful if an up to date menu could be viewed on the website.

Stayed for a summer special including dinner but ate in the brasserie again as food was good and different from normal hotel fare. Staff a bit distracted and offhand in brasserie but reception and spa were fine. Spa staff seemed a little inexperienced but reasonable price treatments. Overall not a bad experience at a reasonable price and with nice grounds and room.

Booked a spa day, then had a coffee in their Brasserie. The drinks were hot & the hot chocolate was delicious. The staff were very friendy & welcoming, especially Doug, there was no rush, told to just sit & enjoy.

Party of 12 for Christmas meal. Starter was ok. Main meal missing two bits has to request these. Cheese plate was missing chutney this was never brought out. Why were there side plates but no bread rolls? We had to ask several times for our mince pies and coffee. Overall not impressed not worth the money

We used the hotel as part of a spa and afternoon tea package. It was a let down for us which is sad as we had been looking forward to this little treat, halfway through our holiday on the island. The service was slow, maybe it was new staff? The coffee was weak and had to be returned and reordered, ? maybe new staff, again! The afternoon tea! maybe it was a new chef? The cakes, looked amazing, but were bland and wilted. The finger sandwiches were barely edible, 1 smoked salmon, 1 grated cheese & 4 tasteless cream cheese with soggy cucumber. Awful, but the scones, cream and jam were the best I've had on the island. It does not please me to say this, but eat else where or avoid the afternoon tea and go for something else.

This is very friendly 4 star hotel with a Spa that is conveniently situated in Ryde and is ideal as a base for exploring he Island. The hotel has superb grounds and a lake that is tidal and looks good when it is high tide. !! Our hotel Spring package included dinner on arrival and breakfast plus the ferry crossing from Lymington. The food was plentiful and excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our room that had a lakeside view and our stay overall. Definitely worth another visit as there is plenty to return to see on the Isle of Wight.

We stayed here for two nights on the secret escapes deal (breakfast, dinner, spa treatments, ferry, bottle of prosecco included) and were overall very impressed. We had a beautiful view from our room and the service was excellent. We found the pillows to hard on the first night but then swapped them with a. Second set in the cupboard on the second night and slept much better. The food in the restaurant was tasty and offered a good selection. Breakfast was cooked to order and the staff were helpful and prompt. Overall I'd definitely come back again and would recommend keeping an eye for the hotel on secret escapes as it was excellent value!

We have eaten several times in this restaurant and each time it seems to get better and better. The staff are very attentive and the Maitre D was just superb. Nothing was too much trouble, even for the most fussy palettes. The quality of the dishes is excellent - we had scallops to start and these were cooked to perfection. The set price menu was fantastic value at 3 courses for £20 with a good selection to choose from, but you can also mix and match from the a la carte and they will adjust your bill accordingly. If you are a really big eater, just order an extra portion of veg. For value for money and quality, this Restaurant is right up there now with the best on the Island.

One cannot fault the staff, they are friendly and helpful. The surroundings are relaxed and elegant, the views are wonderful. The food is very good and they cater for those us who are Gluten free. I have eaten in the bar, brasserie and restaurant and all have been excellent. The spa again is of a good standard, the staff helpful and friendly. It's very easy to spend a day at the spa and brasserie and come away feeling relaxed and happy. The hotel rooms are of a high standard and they also do excellent conference and celebration facilities. Needless to say one of my favourite places (and I live on the island !!)

Went here for lunch with friends. Fixed price menu which was fine for all of us even though two of the four of us had old dated menus that were slightly different. Once this mix up was sorted: Service good, staff very friendly, food also good and quantity reasonable. Retired to the lounge for coffee. Lovely light decor, it is just lacking a bit of "personality", possibly in the style of some background music. It was also a bit shy on Christmas decorations....which was a bit of a surprise at this time of year.

If you want a quick bite to eat this is a pretty decent place. The staff are quick to take your order, and in my experience even in the busy period your food is usually done within 5-10 minutes. The price isn't ridiculous, and the burgers are good. My only disappointment was the chips, I found them to be a bit overcooked but other than that, I was happy with my experience.

Looking for somewhere to eat and use for our regular eat when we are on the island and in Ryde. This will not be the place unfortunately. It says on menu 1/4 pound chicken burger. It hardly covered the standard size burger bun. Not worth h the £5.90 they charge and that is it if you want chips or anything that’s extra. Most of staff friendly, one member not sure if new but no idea how to process our order. The quest is still on for a nice place to eat in Ryde with our dog.
