From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent. Drinks the were ordered first with breakfasts made to perfect next. We all ordered something different and all loved our choices. It’s a very nice little place and dog friendly too. We will definitely be coming again.

Food was not delivered,waited for an hour for me food and the management came with the driver just to apologize and didn't try to offer my money back or spare food

Lovely addition to the village. Amazing menu. Difficult to choose so will work my way through the fab selection over the next few weeks! Had the chicken wrap today which was amazing, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. My friend chose the blackdoor 🍔 which was also a bit hit. We finished off with the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream....to die for. Staff are lovely. Can highly recommend 👌.

This place is so lovely and chilled had the blackdoor burger which was delicious i loved the sauce it was exactly what i imagined. Finished it off with a brownie and ice cream and a latte (wanted to have the whole menu to be honest) Its a nice little place with a chilled atmosphere staff amazing and well priced too 😁

Please be aware, I am not complaining about our waiter, he did his job and was very polite. But I am so disappointed with this place and I have to be honest. We ordered 2 eggs benedict, one without bacon for my vegetarian daughter. What we got was basic and quite frankly, I was gobsmacked. Two poached eggs on a toasted muffin with congealed butter, both without bacon. These "meals" were £7.95 each. The bill came to £20.50 with one glass of tap water and one flat white coffee. It really does amaze me that businesses, can charge such extortionate prices for basic eggs on a small muffin. My daughter was right, this place is bad. I loved the Ladle, pity its gone. This place has no atmosphere and is very bare and clinical, its not a good addition to West derby Village I'm afraid. I went here because Amo was rammed and wondered why this was empty. Now I know. I'm not recommending this place to anyone, and will give my future support to all the other independent places that do such a wonderful job.

Would definitely recommend this new restaurant in the village after going for the bistro menu and also breakfast a couple of weeks ago. Service was smooth and friendly, good variety of foods and all very high quality. I can definitely recommend the lamb (it melts in the mouth) and the fish and chips, and breakfasts are filling but not greasy at all. The IPA they now stock is beautiful too! They even asked us if we were ready for our next course or if we wanted a little break! Totally worth a visit.

Honestly I cant work out why this so called 'business' is even open. Terrible food and even worse service off the unprofessional staff. Food used to be lovely when it was called 'it's all gravy' but went down hill when it changed to 'the ladle'. Ordered online after waiting for 2 hours and numerous phone calls and being told it was being prepared it still hadnt arrived. On the third phone call I decided to cancel my order, the young man on the phone sounded shocked when I asked where my order was and pretty sure i could hear him mocking me. Bit of a joke if im honest. Management sort it out!

Terrible service food never came. Disgusting attitude over the phone they kept saying it was coming but ot never arrived the lying muppets didnt order for over a year beacuse the food went terrible. Do not order from here

Waited for about 50min for the food before giving up and leaving. Was never told that the kitchen only opened at 11am.

Slow service on multiple occasions both sitting in and delivery. Won't be spending money here again. Shame as I like to support local independent businesses. Food is good but can't abide dispassionate service.

Had a delivery from them today, it was lovely, such tasty food, the only flaw I'd say is it doesn't arrive as hot as you'd like (still hot but not as hot as you'd get in the restaurant obviously) but that's what you get with deliveries with any restaurant/ takeaway so they deserve 5 stars regardless.

Quality food, relaxed environment, staff are very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

I want to start by saying I've always enjoyed going to the Ladle for breakfast but today was a bit of a shambles. We arrived to 2 occupied tables and were told that there would be a 20 minute delay as the kitchen was backed up. This seemed strange but ok we said that's fine. 50 mins later our order arrived and my egg yolk wasn't cooked so i asked if could have a new one but everything else was fine. I then waited another 10 mins to receive a cremated egg. I'm sure this was amusing to the chef but to me not so much. I'm not sure if it's a new chef and waitress but it wasn't the ladle I was used to. Business was turned away using the backlog in the kitchen as a reason which is madness. I hope this is just teething issues and it will get back to its fab self. I'll be leaving it a little while to try again.

Food took 2 hours, 1 wrap had mash instead of potatoes as requested. The poutine wasn't poutine, it had no cheese curds, just gravy, and the gravy was dried on the chips. This isn't the first time this type of thing has happened. I've given them the benefit of the doubt previously. But clearly there's an issue with organisation at this restaurant if this keeps happening, I've seen similar reviews to this. Delicious food when they get it right, but ridiculously frustrating when they don't. It's a game of Russian roulette ordering from The Ladle.

We ordered two burgers and the lamb poutine. Food was delivered in good time and seriously impressed. That poutine... Oh my!

Must have been a busy night, food was late being delivered through Uber eats and was cold. Very disappointing.

Made an order of 2 burgers and, frankly, I don't know for what we paid almost 20 quid. The size of those burgers were smaller than the big macs you get from MCD, appearance, well there was none actually, two buns and ingredients stuffed in between. So if you are planning to buy burgers from them, think twice, because you will disappointed, there is no doubt about it.

Nice little place, very cosy inside. Food was hot and served quickly, we had burgers and fries which were tasty. Must mention the staff are very friendly and some of the nicest staff I have encountered in a restaurant.

Ordered food on the 15/11/20 it was awful,the steak was tough as old boots the fries were warm at best. Will not be using this restaurant again.

Fantastic meal here the place has been designed well. The food is fantastic you won’t get a better burger in the city. Excellent service and friendly staff.10/10

Lovely little cafe in West Derby village and we stumbled upon it by chance as another place we tried was closed for a refurb.....glad we did as our experience was fabulous. Staff are very nice and we couldn't fault the service if we tried.... My wife had the Breakfast Salad....sounds weird but she loved it. I had the full english which obviously was way better 👍🤣🤣 Either way the food was amazing and we cant wait to be back next weekend.

First time ordering in from the ladle to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday in lockdown! Absolutely gorgeous food, had pulled pork poutine and aese and wine burger with chunky chips. Shame no deserts but understandable on the current situation.

Tonight we telephone ordered a lamb yorkie wrap with potatoes and a chicken yorkie wrap with mash it was delicious and filling ...everything was done easy from the phone call to me picking it up defo go back again and would highly reccomend to anyone ....

Just ordered from here on the just eat app, very nice and tastey food and well presented, when this lockdown ends I'll hopefully pay this restaurant a visit.

After me an my boyfriend were trying to decide and unsure where to eat tonight we walked past this lovely place, and decided to go in because it was all lit up with lovely lights and looked so cosy and welcoming.. we were greeted by a lovely guy who couldn't do enough for us and made us feel so welcome took our coats to be hung up an sat us down talking us through the menu... we ordered a selection of small plates, and thoroughly enjoyed every last bite of each dish, that we ordered some more because it was so yummy we didn't want it to end.. it was beautiful inside, the vibes were so good In here we were so relaxed, and a great choice of music also.. we can't wait to come back again!! Excellent good quality food, customer service and atmosphere. Thanks everybody at the ladel!
