I had the Chicken Curry Udon and it was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, I would highly recommend. Great, fast service from staff too.

Had a mix of sushi and some chicken dumplings. Sushi tasted as fresh as it gets. Not slimy at all. Very good texture and I'm a "critique". Impressive food. I will return.

Best sushi restaurant I've been to in the UK, and fantastic value for money. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

11/03/25 18:30 hrs I have been to different Japanese restaurant but this is my first time coming to Aka for a bento teriyaki chicken meal, I was accompanied by a friend.The meal all came and lastly was the Sashimi which I noticed more than the 1 portion (3 pieces of salmon) that I ordered, since my friend doesn't eat raw fish.I asked the waitress if this is the 3 pieces of salmon that I ordered because it looks more and that I won't be able to finish it. The waitress said that she doesn't know what happened and it's already been prepared so if I won't be able to finish it I will have to bring it home and she also said that I should have asked the one who was taking the order to clarify it before serving it. It was very clear when we ordered that it was 2 Bento teriyaki chicken and (1) 3 pieces sashimi. I told the waitress to be careful taking costumers order next time but then she never even apologise. That waitress keeps talking, she was making it sound like it was our fault and that they served us more than we could chew but then we have to pay for it. I left the restaurant so upset after paying > £40.00, because it's not our fault to be getting a wrong order. That would be my first and the last time going to that restaurant.

The service, sushi and all of the freshly served nigiri went down a right treat. Considering it was a very busy saturday lunchtime when i dined here (solo) the staff found me a table in record time and i felt welcome from the minute i arrived. The menu has all of the classics and even hot noodle soup dishes for the win!

Delicious sushi, friendly staff. I bit confusing menu system: they gave us paper menu to choose from. He decided on some positions relying on written descriptions, and when we were ready to order we were given a tablet with pictures for each dish.

Green beans are incredible. The staff is great. First time in a Japanese restaurant.

Popped in on a off chance not been here before staff were pleasant and polite seated really quick, the food was off the highest quality and presented beautifully. Really enjoyed my experience here and would recommend.

This restaurant may look small from the front, but it offers plenty of seating inside. The interior design is simple yet appealing, with a cosy atmosphere complemented by background music. There are many outstanding aspects of this place: the portions are satisfying for the price, and the food is incredibly flavourful. There is also a wide variety of menu options to choose from. The service is friendly as well.

The food is alright, but the service is really bad. There are two stuff in the restaurant, but there was only one did all the job and it was busy that time. I waited for a long time to order. I think there’s one stuff just sitting there and did nothing. The sushi is good, but the ramen is not what I expected, and I don’t recommend it.

The sushi shop to go to if you’re in Liverpool City Centre. Similar to the Manchester Branch. Good amount of sushi with good price range and a good portion as well. Their special rolls are the recommended ones to go for and the portion is well enough for one person to be full

Started off as a one-off trip for my mate’s birthday, but it’s become my regular destination for nights out – partly for the food and partly because the whole place just works. The dishes are simple, done well, and won’t break the bank. Perfect for students or anyone after good food without the faff. The pork Tonkatsu was the standout – crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor that makes you savor every bite. The salt and pepper chicken? A bit on the dry side, but hey, nobody’s perfect. AKA Sushi keeps it real, keeps it affordable, and keeps me coming back. A solid 5 stars, because when it’s this good, who cares about a little hiccup?

This sushi place is really nice, located in the Bold street. The rolls are pretty large, two might be just enough for three persons. Fast and convenient.

Came last Saturday with my 14 yr old daughter. Can't fault the place. Small and clean. Very quick service. Staff all very friendly. Ordered a platter between us. We couldn't even finish it!! Lovely thick raw tuna and salmon, soy sauce and presentation spot on!! Can't believe how cheap it was!!!

Food was great, for the price. We ordered a variety of things via the tablet, for four adults. Atmosphere was more like a school canteen than a restaurant, and service was minimal - food literally chucked on the table as they were on their way to another table. Also gave us someone else's food at one point, after we'd finished all of ours, we pointed it out - they said nothing, just picked the food up and dropped it on the correct table.

I wanted to eat Japanese food in England and visited there. The clerks were Chinese, not Japanese. I don't eat sushi or other living things because I'm scared of them, but the fried udon and gyoza I received were delicious. The restaurant was clean and I felt safe eating there.

Decorated beautifully and very nice atmosphere. I was greeted and seen to my seat (was on my own) the service helped me with my bags. I was handed a tablet and advised to order on the tablet (advised them unsure how) and was told.to tap what I want. Service then walked away. I paid £3.20 for a tiny glass of coke - asked for tap water and advised I had to pay for it? The food arrived in a nice bowl but the was cheap and rubbery. The ramen water was basically soya sauce with hot water and noodles where very rubbery and hard to chew. Only veg on the dish was lettuce which was mouldy and tasted sour. It's okay for sushi but do not recommend the ramen bowls

Great customer service, and even better food. The vibe of the place was comfortable and relaxing 😌. The staff was greeting me with a smile and they were friendly all the time. ( This good customer service surprised me) After all, I just recommend this place and I will definitely go back with my friends.

Not going to change your life. It’s fine. There’s potentially better in Liverpool. Value for money is good though.

Walked in waiter didn't even say hello dumped us on a table at the back and threw an ipad at us to choose from the menu then left us for ages. No words from him at all. Food was bland and not very much of it. Staff must smoke near the fire door exit as we could smell the cigarettes and smoke. Very unpleasant. Would never go back.

3.5 stars rounded up. Their raw fish is terrible, but I should have known better given the price point. Order rolls only, which are huge in size and worth the money. Two friends and I visited without a reservation when the higher quality sushi restaurant they recommended had a 30 minute wait. We were seated immediately in a bright cafeteria-like dining hall. - £7.99 crispy squid. Different than what I’m used to , but I liked it! The squid wasn’t too tough, and the chunks were big - £3 sweet potato fries. Standard - £12.99 OMG roll. This was good! The salon is cooked, thankfully, and the roll is tempura fried - £13.99 unagi dragon roll. This was okay, as I felt there was little unagi per piece. This roll is slightly healthier since it’s not fried - £15.99 mixed sashimi, 15 pieces. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My friends had warned that their tuna was not good, which I agree with. Most cheaper sushi restaurants have bland tuna. But even their salmon sashimi was bland, and salmon is a fattier fish! This was some low grade frozen stuff. The tiny amaebi shrimp were decent, and I think the other white fish was mackerel, which was tasteless Great service, but avoid the raw fish.

Best in town to try out Japanese food

I stumbled upon this place by chance while traveling in Europe and wanted to eat Japanese food. The atmosphere of the shop was very nice and the selection of songs was very good, so we had a great time! I also ate salmon dragon role and salmon nigiri, and they were very delicious, especially the salmon, which was so plump that I felt like I was eating it in Japan! ! This is definitely a place I would like to go to if I have the chance to go again. If you want to eat Japanese food, please try it! !

Tbh I used to love it but I’ve tried to come back like 3 times and the three times the staff haven’t let me. They close at 9.30, last order at 9. The lasts times that we went it was 8.45 , they told us that they would just let us order for take away because the kitchen was close. In 45 minutes there is lore than enough time for us to have a quick dinner and it’s a bit disappointed that if we arrive 15 min before you close the kitchen there is plenty of time to make the order. I hope someone can speak with the staff about this as this is the reason because we are not coming back anymore. The other reason is because thw service is veeery slow, sometimes we waited more than 20 minutes to order. Apart from this the food is nice, so hopefully if you manage to get a table you’ll enjoy it

been coming to this restaurant since the pre-covid era when it was known as “naked noodle”. i always came for the sushi so it’s not surprise that they had a more appropriate rebranding. the sushi has gone up quite a bit in price, but hasn’t everything these days ? always a very polite and lovely service too. always a pleasure. (also the plum wine is delicious)

I've had excellent sushi here in the past but the service I just had was terrible. I got seated, ignored for 10-15 mins and when a waiter eventually asked if I'd ordered and I said I hadn't, he walked off and started clearing tables rather than actually taking it. I caught the attention of another waiter and asked if I could order, he grabs his pad, leans aggressively across my table and huffs "yes?" into my face. I thought about it for two seconds and decided to go somewhere else. Shame, I liked it here. Hopefully Hibiki around the corner will be better! 🤞

We went for lunch today 27/02 at 2pm . I ordered the Sushi Set A and my partner ordered the chicken katsu. He only ate his dish because he didn’t like the raw fish. After 40 minutes he felt sick and uncomfortable with his stomach. 1.5 hours later he ended up vomit 3 times then after 6 hours he had really bad diarrhea and still keep vomiting. We assumed that there was something wrong with the chicken he ate as we didn’t have any breakfast and that was our first meal of the day. I used to go to AKA 5 times and recommended people to go there a lot even I live in Chester. I highly recommend you going there if you want to get sick and not be able to work the next day or if you want to lose your weight by visiting the toilet all night. 😂 Goodby AKA and I will never visit you ever again. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

Best value meal on street. Simple, perfectly cooked Japanese food served in a traditional, lacquered wood "lunch box" with chopsticks. Restaurant is much better than the first impression might imply. Will definitely be my go-to place on another visit to the city.

Staff need to learn some manners. Such rude front of house staff Closing an hour and a half earlier than advertised. No notice after hanging round to be seated absolute time wasters...

A nice Japanese restaurant for fast and quick bites of Japanese foods. Service was good. Bit disappointed with the sushi- warm rice, lack of rice seasoning. However they did allow me to swap out the Tamago from the set platter. The portion of the rolls was massive and tasted quite reasonable. Price is also reasonable.

Went with a group of 7 people, the staff were lovey and had us seated promptly. Food was amazing and the service was brilliant. The prices are very good for the quality and location!

Some of the tastiest, richest sushi I've had at a low price. Fast quality service. Only issue is the soy sauce portions being weak, there needs to be a lot more. I'm sure tap water would be free if asked and I do think this is needed because the wasabi is very strong!

Salmon box - fried salmon belly is nice and oily , fried well and sauce on it pairs well with salmon, fried salmon is too dry and seasoning on it tasted like msg, would be happy if there’s more salmon sashimi, rice could add more vinegar 2. Sushi and sashimi platter - sashimi cuts are thick, felt like it’s taken out from fridge and defrost 3. Service - average staff 4. Serving time - 25 mins 5. Affordability - a bit pricy 6. Atmosphere - clean

Buffet sushi in Denmark is better. Taste okay, but will not be back.

I tried a salmon box, katsu curry, chicken wings, dragon roll, crispy pork. It was ok overall, I've had better and worse I guess in similar places. It would be 4 stars, except it was the first time I've ever found a bone in salmon sashimi. Bones can happen when you buy "boneless" items in a supermarket, but for the small sashimi pieces the chef is supposed to make sure there are no bones left. It was an obvious 3cm bone so the preparer was not paying enough attention.

Foods were delicious and service was good. Especially, beef ramen was great to eat on chilly days.

Been here loads of times now. Kids love it and always attentive staff and good food. Not too pricey.

Great selection of sushi, if you want genuine Japanese food this is your place. I often go here maybe once every two weeks and love the food and staff are attentive also price is decent.

One of the only places I’ve found that makes sweet potato maki. Highly recommend trying it if you haven’t! It’s delicious. Portions are generous. Tables are clean and it’s nice and cool inside. The drink menu has some solid choices of mocktails.

While the staff were nice and the place was clean, the food were quite disapppointing. I ordered sushi and ramen. I did not expect them to taste authentic or anything but they could be much better.

Really nice little sushi restaurant in Liverpool. Varied menu with lots of options. The special rolls are so delicious, only huge so it’s very easy to order more than you can fit in. The fish is great quality and very fresh. Has an authentic feel and definitely lived up to my expectations. Staff seem lovely too and it’s so cool to be able to see the chefs working as they have an open kitchen. :)

The food is amazing and its cheaper and better quality than the high street alternative. The staff are kind and curtious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming The portions sizes are large and are amazing value for money. I cant reccomend Aka enough as the food and staff make this place an amazing place to be. I will be soon coming back, hungry for more.

It was a 5 for me... Food are big portion and worth the prize. If you are craving for sushi deffinitely recommend this place. For something warm their beef ramen hits the spot. But I dined in with friends. My friends got their food. Mine woudnt have arrived if I didnt follow up. The server did'nt even check . The restaurant wasnt packed. I saw everyone got served even the ones that came after my group but my food arrived just when my friends food where finish. I just quickly finish my food and left. I wont say all the server are as bad but that particular night was just not a good experience. I worked as a server and in a food setting place before and quiet disappointed by the service.

While the restaurant had a pleasant ambiance and attentive service, the quality of the food fell short of expectations, lacking both authenticity and remarkable flavours.

The sushi rolls were an odd shape - too large and not easy to handle. Didn't feel as fresh as the nigiri, which was excellent. Some interesting combinations, such as the new york one, which was tuna with crunchy apple pieces. Probably may have worked with minced apple but with a single big piece...not for me!

Aka sushi is our go to sushi stop in Liverpool, we’ve been coming for years and it is always wonderful! Located on Bold Street (formerly Naked Noodle), it is central and surprisingly overlooked- considering the quality and price of the food it should definitely be busier! We normally opt for sushi, which is always fresh and delicious, and presented so beautifully, and the generous chicken katsu curry, but they have a variety of dishes and the Bento boxes are also brilliant. The virgin mohito is also absolutely amazing and thoroughly recommended. They do a brisk trade through Deliveroo too, which we loved before their radius dropped. Staff are friendly and the food is top notch. Wonderful all round. Try it!!

Fresh and Delicious! Salmon bento is my favourite, the teriyaki salmon fillet is so tender and juicy.

The food was fantastic sushi was delicious. They are nice and the place is very clean. Suitable for couples, friends and families.
