Excellent farm shop, plenty of parking, the cafe is always busy usually with a queue, but the food is always good and staff friendly, plenty of good produce in the shop too. Worth a visit

I came for brunch with my parents and a close friend with her young baby joined us. We were seated in a quieter area and the staff were very helpful and friendly. My mum and friend had the poached eggs with avocado, I had the breakfast muffin with sausage patties minus the cheese and my dad had the Farndon breakfast. Everything was delicious and decent portions. My muffin had 2 1/4lb sausage "patties" in a chunky fresh muffin (I ate one separately as my mouth wasn't big enough for such a tall stack!) We had coffees, breakfast leaf tea and an oat milk latte. It isn't the cheapest but well worth the quality and portion size. The shop is a maze of delights from beautiful produce, to gourmet prepared dishes, handmade pasta, fresh bread and everything inbetween. We have already made plans to return and try out lunch but I also need to come for brunch again and try the eggs benedict!

Last weekend I accompanied the family for a birthday celebratory meal to the local Farndon Fields cafe/restaurant. It has been a while since I was there, for various reasons, but have highly rated the experience in the past. My daughter ordered 3 afternoon teas with extra bits. In the past these teas had proved very delicious and quite generous in terms of quantity. Not so now however. The price had doubled, but more importantly, the content had halved compared to what had been supplied before. I can appreciate that prices have increased since I was last here, but to have the price doubled and content sizes reduced (even the homemade scones half their previous size and sandwich portions halved without customer’s being offered an individual choice of filling) changed the whole enjoyment part of the experience. A sad change from what was originally a truly enjoyable tasty experience and one that we had purchased over the years as a nice”Thank you” present for friends in the past.

We checked the website which said the kitchen closed at 5pm. We arrived a few minutes after four, were given menus and we sat down. I brushed the cake crumbs off the table as no one came to clean it. We ordered drinks. Then a waitress came up and asked if we wanted cake. We asked for food from the menu we had been given. We were then told only cake was available. We said we had checked the website which said the kitchen closed at 5. We were told “Yes, the kitchen closes at 5, but food stops at 4”. This, if true, is ridiculous. Also, if this was the case, why were we given menus? Appalling lack of service.

We had a lovely lunch of cod and chips and a haddock goujons. It was scrummylicious. We have eaten in some fine restaurants in Yorkshire and what we had today was as good as Yorkshire if not better. The service was also equal to a star rated restaurant. Will definitely visit again soon and I am happy to recommend .

Took my Mother for Mother’s Day lunch. Front of house lady was very friendly and we got seated quickly. Lady taking our order was also very nice. Food was a real let down. My Mum had the slow cooked braised beef which was really chewy (clearly not slow cooked long enough as I make better myself at home). I had the ploughman’s and the bread roll was so dry that o left it. Pork pie also had no flavour and was a bit too pink inside. I live near Melton Mowbray and can tell a good pork pie. My mother (who is not the complaining type) did point out to the waitress that the meat was really chewy but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.

We've been visiting Farndon Fields for years and always enjoyed their restaurant. Pre-covid we were always pleased with our meals there, but during/since covid, it's just become a rip-off. Our party of two visited for the first time in months on Saturday lunchtime and couldn't believe the prices! £9.25 for a sandwich and crisps! Their sarnies used to come with chips, but instead they've increased the price 50% and give you a few crisps instead. Same price for a jacket potato. We had burgers which have only increased about 25% in price - sister's beefburger was okay, although she paid £1.50 for a slice of processed cheese; my chicken burger was very stingy, almost a chicken crisp at one end. Smaller chip pots too! We watched with interest to see what other folk had - on the table next to us the full English b/fast was tiny. Two of the smallest, thinnest sausages I've ever seen and almost transparent bacon it's so thin. £12.25 and an extra two quid for black pudding. Folk didn't seem too impressed, to be honest, and I'm not surprised. My fave used to be the steak sandwich (around £11). A panini sized long roll with plenty of steak inside and a sauce on the side. Watched one come out for a chap at the table next to us and it's half the size (a ciabatta roll) and £15.50, another nearly 50% price hike. No thanks, specially when you can buy the old sized one in the shop with (albeit less) meat, mushrooms and brie AND have it heated for £3.95 - and they're making plenty of money on that! Girl who seated us insisted we have a table in the middle of the room when there was a table next to the window available - she said that because it was a table for three, we couldn't have it (note here - all the other same size tables around it had two people at them). Bet you can guess what happened next...? Yep, within a minute, there's two people sitting at it. Girl was unfriendly, too. Should also mention that another table had the sarnies - waited around 30 mins for their food and their drinks (a pot of tea for two) arrived when they were about half way through eating. All round a HUGE disappointment. There are pubs around which do so much better. We won't be back.

Visited this restaurant many times with no cause for complaint. Booked afternoon tea last Sunday for family get together (the first time we’d got together for a meal out since the lockdowns). We didn’t get the food we’d booked for. Items were missing or substituted for cheaper items and we were charged £2 a head more. We were placed in a room upstairs and it was hard to attract the attention of our waiter. We ordered extra drinks, which did not arrive and we had to ask again. We’d been told it was a set menu yet the other table upstairs clearly had different sandwich choices. We emailed our complaints but have had no response. Very disappointing!

Probably the least satisfying ploughmans I've ever had and the most expensive. The first problem was they only had a choice of white sourdough or sliced brown. I'm not a fan of sourdough so I opted for the brown thinking it might be rustic but no, it was bog standard supermarket brown sliced. The cheese portions were very small. The pork pie was good as was the ham. The coleslaw was basically just mayo and the tiniest portion. No tomato or salad leaves. All a little mean and dull to be honest.

We had been regulars to here for years until we moved away in 2019. First time back after a long journey from Wales to find opening hours had changed, and had to wait but we were surprised how quick the food arrived after we had ordered, which made us think things are prepend cooked but we were really disappointed as my eggs bendict had two hard eggs and my husbands full e glass had a hard poached egg and was not very hot. We should have said something but we had been on the road since 5.30am and were very hungry.

Monday 5th September 2022, We broke our journey on the way up to Norfolk. Our first stop was in the town of Market Harborough where we stopped for breakfast. Jackie, my husband and I drove through Market Harborough and travelled on the Farndon Road for about a mile and then we turned into the car park at Farndon Fields Farm. We parked our car and then went into The Farmers Kitchen, where we had booked a table for breakfast. Jackie, my husband and I entered within, we were greeted by a nice lady who then showed us to a table for three. We looked at the nice breakfast menu and then we ordered. My husband had the full English breakfast of bacon, runny poached egg, sausage, black pudding, potato cake, grilled tomato, flat mushroom and brown toast and butter. I had Eggs Benedict. Jackie had bacon and two poached eggs on toast. The breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day. We had drinks my husband had a nice pot of tea, and I had a latte coffee. Jackie had an iced latte coffee. We spent a nice relaxing hour here at this lovely farm cafe. Afterwards we looked round the lovely gift shop and the farmer’s food shop and garden centre. We did not purchase anything. Jackie purchased some fruit, mineral water and biscuits. This is a wonderful place to come for breakfast and I would certainly recommend you come here if you are in the area.

I had the Hearty Vegan Salad which was a little disappointing for over £8. A lot of lettuce, half an avocado, chick peas and dressing. I think as vegan options are very limited here, the salad could of been a bit more substantial and a bit more imaginative. I was just left feeling still hungry and disappointed that I had paid £8 for it. I think for meat eaters its great, just not so great if you're a vegan, which is odd as it sells such great fruit and veg in its farm shop.

We haven’t been here for a while. On a grey Saturday morning it was just the place to go for breakfast to brighten up the day.We ordered a farm house breakfast and a three egg cheese omelette. With a very fussy eater it was no problem to alter what was on the breakfast. The bacon is amazing, with a beautiful sweet and smokey flavour. The poached eggs were perfect too. The three egg omelette was packed with plenty of cheese and came with a choice of chips, wedges or potatoes.I’m not sure why we haven't been for a while other than it’s a 45 mile round trip(!) but we will certainly be back very soon. It may not be “on the doorstep” for us but a nice drive through the lovely Leicestershire countryside, nice food and to stock up on good, reasonably priced produce that supports local producers is well worth it.The fact that you can buy the produce in the shop means that you can take some “goodies” home too! The range of gin that they stock is very tempting!

The tapas dishes looked good, and we didn’t need to order off the children’s menu as there are many small dish options that our 3yr old loves. Great coffee, tea and scones! This place gets busy on a Saturday, so rock up early if you don't want the entire family to be getting tetchy in the queue! Somewhat of a Market Harborough institution, this is a great place for breakfast and lunch, plus foodies will love a wander around the farm shop afterwards (highly recommend grabbing a black pudding scotch egg and some Sparkenhoe Red Leicester from the deli, not to mention a pack of their famously gooey brownies made on site). The cafe menu includes all the classics and is done well, but they also change things up with innovative specials. They also have plenty of healthy options if you're into that kind of thing...but personally we can't ever resist a portion of the amazing chips they serve up in miniature plant pots!

On the spur of the moment we went for lunch. The place was packed but after a short wait a pleasant young lady showed us to a table. The menu was good, quite a variety & the food was hot, delicious & well presented. We'lll be back!

This was our first visit to Farndon fields and we were not disappointed. We sat outside in the courtyard for lunch. We had the savoury afternoon which was delicious. The menu had so many yummy dishes on there, so we will be definitely visiting again soon. Well worth a visit.

I took my American friend here, to see what was on offer in the shop, and for lunch. She really enjoyed it. We had a light lunch and although it was busy we were quickly seated and served. Liked the food, the surroundings and the service was excellent.

Lovely family lunch. After a large breakfast my son and family were only looking for a light snack. Farndon Fields was a great choice. The restaurant was very busy but we still managed to find a table for 6.

Sun was out so decided to visit Harborough. Whilst there visited this place as heard lot about it. Everything was lovely about it. Great service, menu and actual place. Sat outside and had a ham, cheese sandwich with a Ginger beer. Absolutely delicious. Freshly made, came with a large portion of chips. We watched a lot of different dishes being served and they all looked yummy! We shall return!

We’ve been coming to the Farm Shop in Market Harborough for years and seen it grow and prosper. The quality has always been excellent, and now with the updated farm and industrial decor, the restaurant and tea room is even more inviting! Afternoon tea and the rosemary fries are the highlight for me. The choice is superb and the staff are wonderfully friendly. It gets very busy on weekends and holidays!! ...worth it if you want to wait.

We stopped here for lunch and it was great! We were told there would be a wait of 30 minutes and shown to a table and ordered a drink while we waited. The wait was less than expected and our food arrived in 20 minutes. We had the Farmer's Breakfast and Ham, Eggs and Chips. The breakfast was really tasty, great sausages and the black pudding was first class. The Ham, eggs and chips was a generous portion with proper hand cooked chips, none of this frozen rubbish here.

Really good food, gets quite busy so get in before the lunch rush! Good to shop after to! Serves all food that’s sold in shop so sort of try before you buy!

Quality of food for a brunch was fine, but the standard of service was beyond excellent - dining with two small children the waiting staff were kind, considerate and VERY quick to react to the minor distasters that were bound to happen! Will certainly go back again with all the family.

Had always seen the huge queues for the cafe when looking round the shop, so figured it must be really good. Happened to be in there one morning and for once there was no queue, so tried it. Full English breakfast was fine overall but pretty basic; was expecting something much better quality to be honest. My partner had the veggie breakfast, which was very disappointing: not freshly cooked, and quality of produce wasn’t great. Maybe lunch is better cos based on our breakfast experience I have no idea why so many people are willing to queue to eat here.

Went with the ladies for lunch, Lots of lovely fresh vegetables and interesting things to see on the way in and out in their farm shop. The place was busy and the lunch average, a good selection of dishes with a dishes of the day board. My salmon roulade was more of a cream cheese and salmon pate, but tasted fine. The soup of the day was good, but unfortunately the breakfast medley and the quinoa dish arrived lukewarm. Not sure we will hurry back

Quality of food, excellent; service as you would expect from a Farm Shop (more than a café!) The quality was very good, and added to the choice in the Farm Shop itself, it made it an enjoyable visit!

This place was highly recommended so two of us went for a meal. We had the “bowl” food, 3 dishes for £10.50. I ordered the chicken skewers, mushroom arancini and the chips. My husband had cauliflower cheese rather than mushrooms. My food was incorrect when it arrived but didn’t take too long to get sorted. It was all very tasty indeed but we expected slightly bigger portions. The service wasn’t great. We asked for the bill but weren’t told that we wouldn’t get a bill but needed to go to the till on the way out, resulting in us waiting for a long time whilst three waiting staff swept up around us! In the end we got up and went to the till only to find that’s what we should have done 15 minutes earlier! Not the best experience. Staff training is needed. Would go back but maybe just for coffee and cake or a sandwich.

I visited here with family for Breakfast on Sunday morning. I ordered the salmon & scrambled eggs with toast & felt disappointed. The eggs had been scrabbled with the salmon making them really greasy and the toast was smothered in butter which I hadn’t asked for. My husband ordered the full English and said it was as ok however the sausages were so meaty in texture it made them difficult to eat.

Fresh farm food cooked to perfection. Love the menu and the quality of the food, not to mention the fact you can pop in to the adjacent shop and buy most of the ingredients to try it at home!

Great for kids as there is a kids menu - but the Farmers breakfast is worth the trip. Better still leaf tea in infusers and a real log fire. Quality food, freshly cooked, good service and a reasonable cost. Definitely returning. Actually scratch that, everything is terrible - no stars - that way there will be room when I go back!

The best bacon and fried egg rolls out there!! Honestly cannot get over them i am drawling just thinking about the one i had the other day! The hambleton roll filled with smoked LOCAL!!!!! Bacon and free range eggs with red sauce! Yum yum yum!! Apple juice is not 100% concentrate or it doesnt taste like it but damn the bacon roll was sooooooo good!!! Busy as usual - there should be bigger tables but i understand the space issue! The bacon roll though!! If anyone gets it. Make sure you have a fried egg in it as well!

Order at 9am if you want lunch 🙄 honestly I don't think I've been anywhere so slow. Even at full capacity it should not be hard to manage with the level of staff. Avoid.. Unless you see going for breakfast as a full day activity.

We haven't been to Kilworth House for a very long time but thought it was about time to give it a another go! Well you won't be disappointed - the food in the The Wordsworth was amazing! We have been to many Michelin starred restaurants and I must say that this would not look out of place! We were very well looked after. The only I would say is that they need another dish per course on the menu as there were only 3 starters, 3 main courses etc. Also it was a shame that there wasn't more people in the restaurant but I suppose it is January. We will definitely be going back!

Stayed here overnight, the room was beautiful and spotless ditto bathroom. We opted to eat in the restaurant and the food was delicious and plentiful, it’s probably the best vegetarian lasagne I’ve eaten, there was a good choice for vegetarians , my husband really enjoyed the gammon. We were both so full we couldn’t manage a pudding. The bar was really busy but we couldn’t hear a word from our room. I slept for nearly 9 hours which is rare for me. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, they are certainly an asset to the business that’s for certain. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

An Absolute Gem in the Heart of the Countryside! I’m not from around the area, but during my stay, I found myself coming back to The Staff of Life Pub every single day—and with good reason! The food here is simply out of this world. From the mouth-watering tapas, which were a delightful mix of flavors and textures, to the traditional roast dinner that was as comforting as it was delicious, everything was cooked to perfection. And don’t even get me started on the apple pie—it’s truly to die for. Each bite was a slice of heaven, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. Beyond the food, the ambience of the pub is fantastic. It has that perfect blend of warm, cozy, and welcoming, with a lively atmosphere that makes you feel at home, whether you're a regular or just passing through. The décor is charming, and the subtle lighting creates a wonderfully relaxed vibe. What really made my experience special was the incredible service, particularly from Sharon. She is such a gem—warm, attentive, and always ready with a smile. Sharon made sure that every visit was memorable and went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect. Whether you're local or just visiting, The Staff of Life is a must-visit. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are simply unbeatable. I’ll definitely be back!

Very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble with my food allergy. We had Sunday roast which was delicious and plentiful and after a short break we found room for dessert. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
