Lovely to sit, relax and enjoy a meal here. The views looking onto fields of open space are lovely, especially if your normal is a lot of brick/concrete. The food options varied from breakfast, brunch and main meals like a traditional plated up roast. All was served with attentively and looked appealing to eat. Especially liked the edible flowers. Colour does wonders. Portions were good and prices reasonable. The building is spacious. Not crowded at all. Imagine they’re able to cater for large groups. Perhaps will inquire as plenty of free parking outside as well.

Great location but food was underwhelming. We had been to the Kitchen when it was in Farnborough Pub and the food was amazing. But that was a while ago, pre-covid. Shame as the new location is stunning with amazing views out of large windows. Great rural setting. Lovely staff. I had pheasant curry. Overall it was ok but pheasant was dry and came as two whole breasts. Not marinated. Black rice and veg was good. Nduja Pizza’s were given 6/10. One of our party liked his Burger. Deserts: chocolate roulade very nice. Apple crumble the apple overcooked and crumble did not hold together. We will return for another chance as it may have been a post Christmas off day and the facilities and setting are stunning.

If you are happy with a tapas and small plates dining-style then you should like the Kitchen at Primrose Hill Farm. The location, style and ambiance could easily outshine the food but it didn't. We throughly enjoyed our first lunch visit and will be returning. Fabulous food, great service - well done team.

Just to be clear The Kitchen isn't at Farnborough at the moment but at Primrose Hill Farm in tiny Arlescote. This is a lovely venue purpose built in barn style with stupendous uninterrupted views of Warwickshire. The pop up dining is between weddings and other events. Now to the food - so nice not to see the ubiquitous something and chips or burgers, but some really different dishes. This isn't tapas for purists as there are influences from many different cuisines (Thai, middle Eastern, Moroccan etc). All the tapas and 'small plates'were delicious, we particularly liked the roasted carrots with cumin served on lebnah, The Seville orange Panna cotta with yuzu sorbet was sublime. This isn't a cheap place to eat (£100 for 2); but you wouldn't expect it to be with the standard of food and attentive service. A real treat.

We like The Inn @Farnborough so when our friends suggested we book the pop up Kitchen here, we jumped at it.what a perfect location, the atmosphere was great, light, airy and loved the DJ outside. Shame we couldn't hear him from inside, that would have been fab. Food was delicious, well presented etc. We had roast beef, lamb and the special. My only slight nark was the price of the Meze £15 for 3 bowls and some bread sticks? We loved it and will be back

Having decided to come away for the weekend we searched a couple of restaurants to eat at locally to our hotel in Banbury. We arrived at the kitchen and found that we were in an amazing barn ! The welcome was fantastic and there was a great buzz . The interior of the barn is modern and trendy, we had a table at the huge windows with a view over the countryside. The menu was lovely, nice selection and when the food arrived it was superb. The service was attentive and all diners appeared to be enjoying themselves. The layout of the barn and outdoor area is very stylish and great cocktails on offer too! If we are in the area again we would not hesitate to come back and also recommend to friends.

We ate here at the primrose pop up on Friday. We had good food overall but my starter was cross contaminated (non gluten free bread in two out of three of the dips). And despite checking gluten free desert options, the one I had the plate was quite literally sprinkled with gluten (some sort of crumbled biscuits). Thinking best to just double check - the waiter came and took my plate away replacing it with another one commenting ‘they shouldn’t have put that on there’. No apologies at all considering he put it down in front of me with the gluten on and we had had the same waiter all meal. If you’re Coelaic be careful!

On my first visit my sister ordered a pizza cheese free but unfortunately it arrived with cheese, however an apology followed and it was taken off the bill. Second visit booking for two adults and one child aged two with a dairy allergy which I noted at time of booking. On arrival this was explained again with very little support and we were told they don’t provide a children’s menu! Are you discouraging those with children? A great location but as a previous reviewer mentioned a tad of arrogance by the two owners. Thankfully we received far better service from those serving inside the shop. No vegan options and very little for vegetarians. Disappointing.

The owners have really pulled out all the stops to try to overcome the restrictions Covid-19 has thrown in their path. First, they built a brilliant new outdoor eating area at their original venue in Farnbourough. Then, when winter beckoned, they relocated to Primrose Hill farm and took over the barn which is used for events. We've eaten a cuple of tmes inthe barn, but then along comes HMG andscuppers the plans of Ant and Jo. Lockdown two followed by teir 3 restrictions. So, thinking caps on, the dynamic duo turn their hand to teakeaway food. We've had several Friday night offerings now, but yesterday we had the Sunday roast. The portion size was immense and the food amazing. Hats off to this couple and their team who are doing everything they can to survive in these ridiculous times. We will be back for more and can't wait until we can sit down and dine again, either at Primrose Hill Farm or at the Kictehn in Farnborough. These guys deserve your support. Not for charitable purposes but because, despite plans being scuppered at every turn, they still manage to stay upbeat and turn out amazing food.

Having passed the sign outside saying pop up restaurant, shop, etc we decided to go and have a look. This being a Saturday Not knowing what to expect we were really impressed by the buildings and presentation. Upon entering the door we were approached by a waiter who it turned was the owner. We explained that we had popped in to see what was on offer. Well it was like trying to extract blood from a stone, we really should have known. Eventually he did offer up information and as the venue was extremely attractive we decided to have a coffee and a hot chocolate, both fine. Whilst having our drinks we enquired of a female waitress if the restaurant did a Sunday roast. She confirmed they did. A little reticent we duly booked for 3 pm the next day a table for 3 persons. On the Sunday we arrived and were shown to a table set for 3 by the owner and we apologised that only 2 could make it. The extra place seating was begrudgingly removed. The change from 3 to 2 had not caused any rearrangement of table placement etc. As we were taking our seats the owner stated we have run out of Beef, no apology, nothing. My wife and I sat down and studied the menu. Having studied the menu to see that on offer was pizza, a salad, hake with rice and pasta. I beckoned to the owner and asked was there any replacement for the Sunday roast as there was no similar type dishes on the menu. The owners reply was gobsmacking. No there was no replacement/substitute, no apology and if we didn't like we were free to walk. Not wishing to outstay our 'welcome' we duly 'walked'. So we have a restaurant at 3pm on a Sunday running out of roast, the reason we booked, offering no apology , no appropriate replacement displaying a truely unbelievable attitude from the owner. As we left there were numerous other parties arriving, I hope they didn't require a roast on a Sunday. I can live with stock shortages, but there are ways of dealing with a situation. What I cannot live with is an arrogant attitude from owners to their guests. This I cannot overlook. You might say a bad day at the office, but we experienced the same attitude 2 days running, there will not be a third. As it happens we are local and may have considered this location for our daughters wedding, absolutely not now. If the owner is interested we did get a Sunday roast at a nice pub/restaurant just up the road and yes they were busy.

Visited today for lunch with my partner. We didn't have high hopes of getting a table as we had not booked and thought this would be a problem given Covid restrictions. The two lovely ladies behind the bar made us feel very welcome and reassured us we could get a table for lunch after our walk with no trouble! An hour later, having enjoyed a great walk around Farnborough estate, we were showed to a clean corner table, where both of us ordered the field mushrooms on toasted sourdough. Portions were very generous, well presented and everything tasted super fresh. We both felt the garlic in the homemade pesto was perhaps a little overpowering (and we love garlic, as a French household!) but that is all down to personal preference and certainly did not affect our enjoyment of the meal. My only suggestion would be to offer steak knives with this dish; the vintage cutlery is lovely but the knives were like butter knives and couldn't cut the bread properly! We didn't ask for different knives as by then, the room was filling up and the two waitresses were busy seating new diners. We noted what a great job they did as everyone seemed to turn up at the same time! We understand the business is moving, and will certainly look forward to visiting again at the new location. Overall a great pub, with tasty food and very good service. I wish them well in their new venue.

Where to start...? I popped in here for a quick pit stop a week or so ago while on a cycle ride. The style and presentation made me want to come back, and so I did while doing a circular walk from nearby Claydon. The phrase”all the gear and no idea” comes to mind. It was fairly quiet, mid afternoon when we arrived. We sat at a table in the garden and awaited a member of staff to take an order. After 10 minutes, I walked into the bar and asked the lady behind the bar if someone could take an order. “Yes of course - I’ll have someone come out to you” was the reply. Another 5 minutes or so later we were approached by a staff member who asked if we had already ordered! She then went off to “get a menu” saying she’d be right back. Another 10 minutes went by. We eventually got our menu, ordered a couple of drinks and (again eventually) managed to order a couple of pizzas. At this point the heavens opened and we were forced to move (together with a party of 7 or 8 beside us) to a covered area that had just been become available. We squeezed in to the seating area, as did the other party and awaited our food. We noticed that this party were sitting at a table that hadn’t been cleared or sanitised since the last party left, and that there was a group of 3 who had arrived shortly after us sitting behind them. The manager obviously knew the party of 3 as they appeared to have no problem ordering or receiving their food and drink. (The manager happily took their order, but not ours!) Our pizzas eventually appeared and we tucked in. Oh dear. The dough was tough to cut, undercooked and “doughey ” in consistency. The flavour however, was spot on. After this we again awaited service to clear our plates and order a coffee. I wasn’t at all surprised that we had to repeat the previous exercise where I eventually went into the bar to ask for someone to take an order, was told that someone would be with us, and (surprise surprise) waited again. As nobody arrived I again went into the bar, and asked for 2 coffees and a brownie for our table. The young lady took the order there & then, and I returned to our table. 5 minutes later a young server (who gave the impression she really didn’t want to be there) appeared and asked us if we wanted to order! She seemed somewhat non-plussed when we told her we had ordered at the bar! Our coffees duly arrived, (the tray being awash with spilled coffee!) as did the delicious brownie, and we finished our meal without further mishaps. It is a shame that The Kitchen was such a disappointment, and I really hope that the management take this (long I know) review as a serious critique and not a moan from a grumpy punter. There’s a chance that it was a one-off and we were just unlucky. Or perhaps not.

We booked a table for courtyard dining to make sure we got a table. Love seeing how this restaurant has diversified during the Covid lockdown. Had visited their shop a few times in recent weeks for AMAZING bread, pesto, cakes and fresh produce. Now with outside dining you can get to sample the delicious ingredients cooked to perfection first hand and the glorious garden and surrounds. The beef salad was insanely delicious, best beef I have tasted in a very long time. Well organised, leave your details for track and trace, blankets if you need, really convivial atmosphere.

Visited here for dinner as we were passing through.Never been before .First impressions are good lovely fire going in the bar and great decor but the seating area where you actually dine was very cold with no heating so we had to keep our coats on which spoilt our dining experience some what.Chose the steak medallions which were fabulous quality steak and cooked perfectly but were covered in salt and way way way way too much 1970's style garlic butter and the salad it came with was horrendous.. so sickly made me feel ill after eating a couple of mouthfuls, it was covered in thick grated parmesan cheese which had melted into the rocket leaves..just odd...don't do this it's horrible and really unhealthy! The worst thing about this place is the CUTLERY..my goodness it's awful. Great big ancient car boot cutlery from the 40's.I know what they are trying to do (be cool and retro?) but the cutlery is vile makes your mouth feel horrible and leaves a nasty metal taste and the knives are like giant size butter knives and would not cut a thing.Would go again but the menu needs to be made a bit simpler ...I think the chef it needs to add a few more healthy options and lose all the garlic..everything is swimming in garlic!Would rate the food as ''trying too hard'' they obviously have a good chef but everything is over poncy making it a bit sickly.Keep it simple nobody wants melted cheese on a salad and don't put salt all over a steak .It's not healthy or appealing.Good food cooked well that is all you need stop adding daft stuff to it.

I had an excellent experience at the Kitchen for Sunday Lunch. We had booked via OpenTable (a big plus for me) and when we arrived we felt very welcome. We ate at 12:00 to allow us to go for a post meal walk and were possibly the first table to be seated for lunch - the table was well set and felt cosy but not cluttered. The service was relaxed and not rushed - the waiting staff were there when we needed them. All of the food was excellent - but I think the smoked Ox cheek was the winner for me. Over a number of years The Kitchen, formerly The Inn at Farnborough was for us a favourite dining venue and we have also entertained many friends there too. Having not been to The Kitchen for just over 12 months we decided to lunch there on 31st August. How things have changed,The place was dark and dingy and totally lacking in the spirit and charm we so fondly remember. The staff we met were very young and although pleasant are clearly in need of training in the art of restaurant hospitality. We were directed to a table adjacent to an open door and when we asked for the door to be shut were told _ "it's hot" and so the door remained open. My chair was dangerously rickety but I did manage to have it changed. Cutlery on the table looked as though it had been bought as a distressed lot at a jumble sale. The menu we found to be uninspiring and expensive for what was on offer. When I mentioned to our waitress that my wife has a gluten allergy and could her needs be met the response was as though I had just arrived from the dark side of the moon. Clearly the waitress was totally unaware of allergic food conditions and the need (in law) to respond in a positive manner. At this point I informed the waitress that we were not happy and had not touched our wine and were leaving - the only comment "not a problem".How very sad to find that this much loved venue has deteriorated and with much regret we will not return.

Sitting next to the fire we shared the cheese balls and wondered why on earth we shared them as they were delicious, moreish and I wished we’d ordered two portions. I had the pigs cheeks which were cooked to perfection however I didn’t like the saffron mash and would have preferred good old fashioned buttery mash. We stumbled across The Kitchen by chance on our way home from a family gathering. The place was well presented, and the menu suited both myself and my partner. The burger was juicy and complimented well with the thick cut chips and my partner had the Ox Cheek which he described as the perfect comfort food. Cosy, friendly staff and a decent Gin selection. Will be returning at a later date!

Popped in for a drink during the day. It was full of business types. Too posh for me. But saying that the staff made us feel welcome.

I took an old friend for lunch so I wanted somewhere special to take her. As always, The Kitchen didn't disappoint. Lovely food, friendly and efficient service, and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere for a good chat. A really excellent lunch.

We chose the Kitchen for our get together for its relaxed atmosphere, seasonal menu and good service and were not disappointed. The pork scratchings were large and crispy, the scallops came with a light curry sauce but Chef was happy to serve without this for two of our group. The fishcakes were great, as was the steak burger, but the sticky toffee pudding was the best as it was surprisingly light and so so tasty. We will definitely recommend and return.

Brilliant lunch. Our waiter was very accommodating, sorting out gluten free option. Food was excellent-would recommend the smoked haddock. We were not rushed. Have booked for mother’s day.

We like this place. It's comfortable and the decor is tastefully done. The staff are friendly and the manager, Alex, is particularly attentive. The quality of the meals has varied from average to very good over the past year or so. Our only real gripe is that we have exhausted the menu. The menu is limited and, whilst we are happy to choose from such a limited menu, we would expect it to change from time to time. We feel that a menu overhaul once a month, for example, would entice us to come back here more often. As we have noticed a steady decline in the number of diners, maybe we are not alone in our thinking.

Was looking forward to visiting here after reading the reviews. Disappointed to say we won’t hurry back. I had onion with cheesy toast to start - unfortunately the ‘toast’ was a soggy mass which was already in the soup and must have been hanging around for a while before being served as it had soaked up all the soup and started to disintegrate. In hindsight I wish I’d sent it back as it wasn’t very pleasant. Husbands mushroom on toast was reasonable but overpriced. Roast beef was ok - my husband enjoyed his but I found the gravy really salty. Roast potatoes were burned. They tasted ok but the outsides were charcoal. Personally I wouldn’t haven’t served these. Husbands chocolate brownie was mediocre - more of a chocolate sponge and missing the fudgie-ness of a brownie. We were served by 3 or 4 different people, all of whom were pleasant but didn’t result in a particularly slick experience. The pricing is fairly high, which I don’t mind paying if the food delivered to a high standard. Sadly on this occasion it wasn’t so we won’t be returning. To end on a positive, the ladies loos get top marks for comfort and helpful little extras!

We had a delicious lunch of soup and three freshly made salads - with great beer and coffees too. Vegan & gluten free easily catered for. Cosy wood burner and helpful, friendly staff. The perfect pub for a bite to eat before or after a stroll!

Amazing food with top service and more than happy to accommodate us and our puppy after a lovely Sunday walk. All three of us had one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had. Set in the picturesque village of Farnborough the service was friendly, attentive and quick. We all had the roast beef, lovely thick slabs of tender fillet served with with a great selection of seasonal vegetables (loved the marrow and other squashes!) and typical roast trimmings. scrumptious puddings, great background music and well designed decor in a traditional stone pub. Our border collie puppy sat quietly at our feet and clearly felt happy in the friendly atmosphere. Nice garden outside with a Cotswold feel and Pizza oven, BBQ etc. Thanks a lot keep up the great work. We will be back with friends.

We are regulars to your restaurant, we sent our aupair & children on a bike ride and they bought 3 ice cream for £15! We will not be back I think it’s disgusting to change so much. We will not be back and will advise friends and family locally not to bother! I rang to complain and the gentleman on the phone wasn’t bothered!

Went there after booking for lunch during a planned walk. Nice place, the person who served us was very ‘cold’ not welcoming or adding any value (I.e asking for children’s menus when we clearly had children). Food was served to 8 of us over a 4 minute period so food was getting cold for those first served. Toilets were leaking so puddles on the floor (was just lazy not mopping floors every 20 minutes especially when this was being trodden through the restaurant). Food nothing to write home about but ok. 10% added to bill for gratuity (no way)......... took that off. This place has dressed itself up to be a ‘destination’ venue when actually and frankly it’s not that polished

We ordered a selection of appetisers and each was amazing. The basil panacotta was pretty special. As was the pork scratchings and cheddar balls. It was really enjoyable to sit in the garden and be surrounded by the ingredients we just saw on our plates. Very fresh. Also loved the smells coming from the smoker in the garden.

We had a nice meal here and a couple of drinks , you could dine at a table in the garden or inside . We opted for indoors as it was cooler , the menu was quite extensive , the food was excellent and reasonably priced . The staff were polite and attentive as I chose a starter for a main course , definetly recommend .

Well we had visited this beautiful place quite a few years back when it was called the New Inn, it was great then but have to say it was a lovely surprise to see a new look inside that we both loved and the food although different from before was absolutely faultless, great staff that where polite and helpful but not overbearing. The food really was a delight with every course just perfect will be returning soon

Set in the attractive village of Farnborough "The Kitchen" advertises itself as serving "rustic cooking" not sure what this means as the food though well prepared and cooked to perfection was not what we imagined as "Rustic"!, The two staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was very good if a little pricey. We ate in the restaurant area and had roast cod £20, sirloin steak £25 and pork collar £20. The salad was a token couple of leaves and the potato mash with the pork collar could have been a bit more generous. We shared two sweets, rhubarb crumble (£8) and chocolate tart (£8) both delicious but half portions were adequate. Coffee was a disappointment with little flavour. To sum up the main courses were excellent but the salad etc for the price could have been more generous. With two small glasses of wine and the coffee the total cost was £141.79. This included 1o% service charge which according to the menu was discretionary but was added without seeking agreement. As it happens we would have paid this voluntarily if we'd been asked.

On a sunny Saturday we found ourselves in Farnborough, near Banbury after a tip off from a friend who lives nearby, and a blue plaque by the rose covered front door announcing dogs are welcome, together with a water bowl beneath boded well, even though on this occasion we were without ours - our experience has shown that where dogs are welcome live warm hearts and friendly people!

Delightful gourmet pub set in the picturesque village of Farborough (a few miles outside of Banbury). Beautifully prepared food of the highest quality, quite pricey and worth every penny. Well kept Purity beers and good wine list and their homemade pork scratching are worth a special trip if you only want a drink

We were 3 couples, all related, all in the Banbury area by chance. None of us knew the area at all, so relied on the internet to find a place for lunch. We settled on this charming little place quite near the M40 - it used to be a pub, but is now a restaurant with aspirations. They were not busy, even though it was a Bank Holiday, but the kitchen struggled to serve us in reasonable time. Fortunately we were happy to sit and chat for ages, but other people might have become edgy. However the food was worth waiting for: my fish cakes were among the tastiest I have ever had, and we all praised both courses. The rabbit pate and the mushrooms on toast were delicious, clean plates all round. No time for desserts, but we all agreed that the food and the service were excellent. Car park not big enough and they need some parasols for the garden tables on a sunny day.

I have eaten at The Kitchen on a number of occasions and, every time, find the welcoming warm and friendly, the room cosy and comfortable and the food delicious. The set menu is a new idea for those who would like to save their pennies, but if choosing from the main menu you will not be disappointed as the portions are generous and the food very tasty. The service is faultless - we have always been politely asked whether we need anything and been made to feel very 'at home'. Even our dog is welcomed with a biscuit.

The drinks are fine , cakes are fine and the venue is fine but sweet Lord the server a middle aged lady with glasses and greying hair is abrupt and unfriendly to the point of rudeness. Think Basil Fawlty on a bad day. If you don't want to be pleasant get a different job. To be fair we are normally served by someone quite nice.

After experiencing the cafe on one of their club nights, myself and my husband were completely sold with Talton Mill Cafe as the venue for our wedding party. Fran and Liz headed the venue and their input was impeccable. Everything we loved about the place was brought to our day - a cosy vibe, relaxed, beautiful, and delicious! Everything on the menu was homemade and worked perfectly with the environment. Fran and Liz listened to our ideas and needs for the day and delivered. The weather wasn’t bad either!
