The Kintyre Club in Argyll & Bute

Staying in Campbeltown, a local person reccomended the Kintyre at Ugadale, having been to a whisky event early evening and not wishing my partner to have to drive, we initially thought it would not be possible. To then find that the hotel/restaraunt offer a mini bus sevice at our convenience from and back to town it seemed like a good idea. Picked up by a very nice chap in the mini bus, on time, agreed a t time with him for return and arrived for an 8pm booking. Excellent surroundings, decor, staff were cheerful and efficient food was superb wine was very good and not over priced, bill was more than acceptable for two excellent courses and wine. Scallops and potted shrimp starters were beautifully presented and excellent, Carolines fish was both plentiful and perfectly cooked, my fillet steak was as good as I have had anywhere and cooked perfectly. Portions meant the sweet menu was not required. Drink in the bar as we waited for the driver. He had suggested 9:30, we said 10, he was right. However beer was good and the staff delightful. (hope you enjoy the concert Chloie) A good solution if you are looking for an excellent meal in a special sort of place, wouldn't hesitate to go again even if it was just to try the fish and chip and burger options on the very varied menu.

I don't think so, but fortunately this is a very good one. Crowded when I was there with some locals (likely mostly from Campbeltown).

Good ambience, super choice of food which was all excellent and friendly efficient staff. And you can’t beat the outlook from the dining room window!

Great food in a very pleasant atmosphere with the attentive and friendly wait staff made this meal a very enjoyable one.

Excellent fare and so friendly and organized staff..no food available in old clubhouse 5 minsafter 9..then the Kintyre saved me after a full day of travel and golf! Will defo eat there again soon...

They have an excellent breakfast spread with caring servers. A great way to fortify prior to a day on the course.

Fantastic meal by Chef Gordon and his team. Lots of choice of local produce. Great value for money. Excellent service by Mhairi and Leah. Would recommend to others and will definitely be back soon!

A large bar / restaurant in the Ugadale hotel, the regular menu and specials offered lots of choice and the fish choices were excellent. The wine choices were limited and pricy for what was on offer. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.

This place is situated in a quality hotel but opening times haphazard - the atmosphere a r decor are good the food is average this place has massive potential but my experience was ok

From breakfast, lunch and dinner, we had great food served by both Amelia and Gareth, whilst staying at the Ugadale Hotel. Great view of the bay from the bedrooms, restaurant and bar, and playing golf at Mach Dunes makes the journey well worth while.

We only had drinks the staff seem very nice the bar is clean and look as if it was getting very busy with booking for food

We were staying at the Ugadale cottages, and had breakfast at the hotel each morning. The selection was fine, and the staff were friendly.

Restaurant heeft lekker eten, maar meestal typisch Brits. Bediening zou beter mogen. Klassiek ingericht.

Pleasant menu and good food and service. It was very quiet the night we ate there but well worth a visit

2nd rate restaurant masquerading as a 5star establishment. I suspect they are using preprepared food and are charging 5 star prices for poor quality pub grub, I won’t be back. The service was awful, the restaurant was staffed by two young girls ( cheap labour I’m guessing). Ugadale Management you really need to up your game, this is not good enough.

Friendly staff and nice surroundings. Food was ok. Wide menu from burgers to steaks and some local seafood. Ok if staying in hotel and don't want to go far.

Great menu, professional service. Loved the langoustines! Chefs are first class and it offers excellent value for money.

Popped in here while staying at the caravan park. Food was lovely. Staff were delightful and very friendly. Definitely worth a visit

Next to the Ugadale Hotel The Kintyre Club at Macrihanish offers pleasant seating with views and waitress service inexpensive drinks and exceptional value Burgers.....very unexpected pleasure on what we thought would be a quick visit to the area....!

Excellent choice on the menu. Good wines to compliment the food and very pleasant surroundings. A very good dining experience.

Nos alojamos en el hotel y jugamos Machrihanish Ugadale y dunas machrihanish - ambos campos, en super condiciones bonito y las vistas. La comida y el servicio era fantástico, los sitios a los que fuimos (mariscos y sus nachos hacen valer la pena Haggis la visita, pero luego tienes la playa, el golf. . . :)) - sin duda un lugar para relajarse, descansar, jugar golf fantástico y disfrute de la hospitalidad.

Lovely dinner served here, overlooking the golf course, and the sea. Food was Exellent, as was the service.

En la Cabañas Ugadale comimos tanto en el antiguo Club y Kintyre Club. El Kintyre es ligeramente más mercado y tanto los menús de comida y el vino son extensos y variados. El tamaño de las porciones son generosas y la comida era muy sabrosa...

Same company as the Club House next door so we guessed the portions would-be big. I chose the chicken and chorizo pasta, was delicious and a massive portion. No way I could finish it. Other half had the gammon steak, very tasty fresh pineapple slices and a big pile of yummy mash. Great views.

Whilst part of the hotel it was not a formal hotel restaurant so more relaxing. Lovely views to golf club, nice decor and the food was good and good value.

Stayed and played golf in glorious sunshine. Menu and wine list very good, lots of variety to suit all tastes. Recommend mussels, which are excellent.

Booked for dinner. The steak and vegetables were so tasty . My partner had chicken and both meals were so well presented and the speed of service was excellent with the cost very reasonable. The portion sizes were also excellent.

We dined in the Ugadale on our last evening.We had a very relaxed dinner served by very well mannered and attentive staff.The menu was not exstensive but adequate, the quality of our meals were excellent.The hotel and restaurant are in exellent condition.

Nice interior and great views. The rating is kept down on the quality of the food (over cooked and dry) and the service (probably new staff for the season)

Excellent setting for a robust breakfast each morning. Food was hot and tasty while pastries were excellent.

On our final night at the Ugadale Cottages, and in Scotland in general, we had a "farewell" dinner at the Kintyre club. We came in around 8:30 and the staff couldn't have been more happy to have us. They were warm, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Our group of four split a bottle of wine, and started our feast with several appetizers which were all out of this world. For my meal, I asked if they could top a salad with some of the locally smoked salmon that I had fallen in love with the night before at the Harbourview Grille. Our server happily took my special order and never once made me feel like I was inconveniencing the chef. Honestly, I could not get enough of that salmon. (Ugadale: Please send me some smoked salmon. Pretty please!!!!) We ended our meal reminiscing about our trip over a shared plate of the sticky toffee pudding. We couldn't have asked for a better way to cap off a truly incredible trip, with great friends. My fiance and I are newly engaged, and I've begged him daily to return to the Ugadale and elope. A girl can dream...

had our last dinner there. Tried the baked chicken on tarragon risotto. chicken was tender and the risotto was rich, but could've been a bit creamier. My wife's fish was prepared well but not seasoned enough, nothing a little salt couldn't fix. Also, the local cheese plate (bless them for going local) was forgettable. Kintyre claret was ok, but the other 2 cheddar and brie were below average. Brie had the flavor I know, but not creamy enough. The cheddar was not tangy enough.Servers were friendly and the room itself evokes old Scotland. Great views too.

Enjioyed post round dinner with friends in the Kintyre Room restaurant at the Ugadale Hotel. Stylish, without being too formal, the service was was very friendly, food was good and pretty reasonably priced.

Stayed and played for two days at Machrihanish. Our lodgings were in the Golf Cottages but we dined twice in the Kintyre Club. Really outstanding food and service and very friendly staff. Would recommend to others and return ourselves without hesitation......!

Had a nice meal and the seafood platter was excellent although my wife felt that the Chicken dish was a little large and had a large chunk of mozzarella on top which should have been melted down and it did not seem to show off any of the chefs skills we would have expected from this class of venue.

I had a fantastic steak in this amazing new Restaurant, the decor, staff, the food, the wine , the coffee all 1st class .... Find of the year. After lunch I booked the family in for New Year..

What can I say, first class fare from a varied menu ,very well presented and terrific staff who know how to treat diners.Enough said.

My wife and I dined here with friends as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. We also stayed in the hotel which I have reviewed separately. The service in the Kintyre was professional, and welcoming. The staff shared jokes with us as the wine was consumed, the food was devoured. Pigeon, Seabass, Monkfish...local produce presented immaculately. The sweets hit the spot before we headed to the pub for a nightcap

The Kintyre Club is only open to members of the Machrihanish Golf Club, residents of the Ugadale Hotel at Machrihanish and the Royal Hotel in Campbeltown.We used the complimentary taxi service from the Royal Hotel, which mean that we could both relax and enjoy a drink with our meal. We received a friendly greeting on arrival, and were shown straight to our table. The style and ambience is very 'gentleman's club' - all dark wood and red leather... And the menu reflected that.The menu was quite seasonal and there was evidence of local produce. The waiter was friendly and seemed very knowledgable about the dishes and the sources of the ingredients. The food was very good and perfectly cooked, and certainly better than most in local area.The evening was quiet, as it was clearly out of season, and the only other diners were a boisterous table of golfers. Although the food was excellent, at other times of year, the Kintyre Club may not be suitable for romantic meal for two.It's a shame that we didn't get chance to sample the obviously well-stocked bar as we had pre-booked our taxi back to Campbeltown.
