The Kings Head, Roehampton in Wandsworth

Just had the worst experience I have had in a pub in a long time. This used to be a great local pub with great food, it’s now AWFUL. The staff excluding original staff are unfriendly and rude, Ethan is uninterested rude and unfriendly. This is the third time I have tried to eat at the pub, the last time I came they cooked the sausages until burnt on the outside completely raw in the middle, Jade who is a great member of the team was polite and got it re-made. We just ordered a burger and chips which was cold and fish and chips which was over cooked and brown, either old dirty oil or burnt. We sent it back Ethan didn’t apologise and took it to the kitchen in which Brian the chef decided to place his hands on the cold chips and stare at us making us feel intimidated. When I got my refund another chef stared at me looked me up and down. We are now staying to drink our drinks and continuously being intimidated as three young women. They got a probe and checked the burger and shouted what’s wrong with the burger. By the way continuously looking at us as I write this review and threw something on the floor in anger making us feel uncomfortable purposely. Absolutely disgusting. I run a local business and used to recommend this pub, I will be telling everyone I know about our experience. It’s clear this pub doesn’t care about paying customers and using imtimdation tactics when their chefs can’t cook a simple sausage, chips, fish or a burger which by the way is £20 per person. AWFUL, if you want good food and great service there’s great places nearby, avoid at all costs

Staff were lovely and made me feel special as a mum on Mother’s Day with a free glass of Prosecco 😊 a really nice pub great atmosphere would recommend the vegetarian roast dinner

How can you be so slow. It is ridiculus. We have been here 2hours to hace a fish and chips. Dude, wake up.

We recently celebrated our baby shower at this pub with a group of 15 girls, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and Joshua, who handled our booking, went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time. The space they provided was private, spacious, and cozy, allowing us to decorate a beautiful table and enjoy our games comfortably. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making us feel completely at ease. Every detail was taken care of, and the pictures turned out stunning! I highly recommend this pub for any event whether it's a celebration, gathering, or special occasion. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to host our party. Thank you for making our day so memorable! 💕

Well where do I start with this place. Awful service the Barman (Ethan) did not make eye contact at all with me or the people I was with, instead he would rather sing to himself while serving me (I say serving). As for Jade the bar-lady, she had a argument with someone in my group, very unprofessional, the pub was very cold & my friend asked them if they could turn the heating up, there followed a discussion about it, which turned into Jade saying to my friend, “I’m done with you” how rude 😡And then when another member of our group went to the bar to ask for coffee, she was told it shut at 9pm, we had just finished our dinner and wanted a coffee. To top it off we were refused anything else, as they would not serve us! So petty & unprofessional, never been refused to be served in my life. Will not be going there ever again and I’ll be telling everyone that will listen not to go there either.

It was freezing in the restaurant, although asked staff several times if they could turn up the heating. Very unfriendly staff. No one checked on us during our meal and it was not busy at all.

Great atmosphere and super family-friendly! We often come here with several kids (Italian families) and always feel very comfortable. The manager (a guy, don't remember his name unfortunately) is always kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!

A big, attractive pub with well spaced seating. The restaurant section is a large, airy, rectangular extension with 2 glass walls. Spacious enough for kids to race around which is better than forcing them to remain still, though that never seems a problem on the continent. Sunday roast beef (£22) is supposedly served pink. It's taken me awhile to understand that this means mostly medium, only pink around one edge, and the thinly sliced beef was chewy. The usual veg and large Yorkshire pud were excellent. Portions are average. Good coffee came in a big cup. Service was pleasant and thoughtful. We had visited 2 or 3 times decades ago, when it was first refurbished, but found that the food was disappointing. This meal was due to having recently read reviews that food has improved. Yes, indeed, but we need better teeth. To sum up, food quality is fair with good veg.

Not worth the money. Only go and eat if you want to wait over an hour for food and for it to be cold. Staff said they were busy. It was dead in there. Defo don’t bother.

Had a great visit to the Kings Head! The staff were friendly, and the food was tasty with generous portions. The atmosphere was relaxed, perfect for a casual meal and enough space for parties. Only downside was the inconsistency in my favourite Mac and cheese. The last time’s preparation seems rushed, had unusual burnt/black on top and was salty. Overall, a solid spot for a drink or meal.

It was my brothers 70th surprise birthday. The Hogarth Room was just perfect. It was like being at home with open plan living dining room. Two huge sofa’s, a real log fire. Then a long table that seated us comfortably. Thoroughly recommend. I love the Kings Head. Pity I don’t live near enough to make it my local.

I went to this place for my birthday and it was lovely. My friends and I asked for the King´s Head burger and it was so yummy! The food is great, and their service is exceptional. They have very friendly and kind staff. I went a few days later and had another burger, same experience! Would go back and highly recomend!

We came to the Kings Head for lunch on a cold winters day. I was very pleased to see that the fire was lit, despite the pub being very quiet and it being Monday. In my opinion, a real fire is an essential ingredient to the atmosphere of a pub. This is a large pub and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there were three real fireplaces in the building, and all had logs burning in them. The staff kept them topped up (which is rare as in most places the staff get hot while they are working and don't think to top up the fire with logs). The staff member who served us, John, was most helpful and friendly. We had fish and chips and my mother-in-law commented that the batter on the fish was cooked to perfection. Well done, chef. Both of us complimented him on it without realising that the other one had done the same. We will be back.

Really impressed with how much improved The Kings Head is. It was busy, great atmosphere, good food and efficient, polite and charming waiting staff, particularly Lauren who served us. When she found out it was my birthday she bought over a complimentary glass of fizz and was very kind with our daughter who has invisible disabilities. Will certainly return. The pub is friendly welcoming and freshly decorated.

Started with the charcuterie, then had the burger which was good. They accommodate GF fairly well. Service was friendly and there is lots of space and a patio to have a large group.

As a regular visitor to the Kings Head,I have seen an immense improvement in the quality of food,also the service. For me the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed, I feel very safe and comfortable in the Kings Head Roehampton.

Nice pub but lacks any atmosphere and the food is below average. We went for lunch a couple of weeks ago, my dad ordered the pie which was cold in the middle; I had the fishcake which was mostly potato with very little fish and my sister had the chicken Caesar salad which was served with a very dry piece of chicken. I really do think this pub needs a new chef. There are a couple of other pubs close by which serves much better food.

Welcoming atmosphere. Lovely food and great value for money. Come for a catch-up with a friend or a family meal. The Kings Head is the place to go.

It's a really lovely warmth and a great amount of space in the pub. I'll be honest, the servers that night weren't very joyous, but we're all human. The serving of chips for around £4 is quite small but fast, at least. Drink prices aren't too bad, and the areas are kept tidy, and it's not cramped. The outdoor space is quite nice.

We had a golfers' Farewell Do with 25 guests on a Sunday afternoon, with Roasts and all ;-) ... absolutely brilliantly organized, nice Pub atmosphere!

Big lovely atmospheric pub with wood burner and outdoor terrace. Food was disappointing, though, served up with no flourish nor garnish. Macaroni cheese had school dinner vibes. 'Rye bread with garlic butter' was normal bread with with normal butter, and so not worth the asking price. Would come back for drinks, will have eaten beforehand.

Popped in for a meal over Christmas, found the person serving did not engage at all with me or my family. Everything seemed to be a chore and we felt very unwelcome. Two meals out of the three meals were Luke warm. I’m not really one for leaving bad reviews but as I work for Youngs and felt the quality to be severely lacking I thought say something. Hoping it was maybe just an off day in the holidays, but really expected better.

Dinner for two! Great Ambience - food prices moderate - very peaceful on a Sunday evening. Great pub food, I'm very sensitive to junk food and I have to say that I feel great every time I have a meal there. Great for families also! Finally, lovely friendly and welcoming waiters and waitresses.

I booked a Christmas dinner with my girls and I have to say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere was so warm and festive, the layout and presentation were spot on, and the reception we received was amazing from the moment we walked in. A huge shoutout to the staff, especially John and Ethan, for their outstanding service, they went above and beyond to make our evening special. There are so many reviews, but I have to say Ethan and Reece have been brilliant, as regulars we have been looked after. The staff are brilliant, the food is good. Nice and friendly pub.

Went for lunch today and ordered my food at the bar. We sat at a table that was not reserved, after 20 minutes or so the manager Lauren showed another customer where we were sitting and asked him infront of us if this area would be ok. Then told him to wait round the corner for 2 minutes and then asked us if we can move tables. I thought this was extremely rude and unprofessional and when I was asked if it was an issue i said yes as I was upset about how that situation was dealt with! If she would have asked us before she showed the other customer the area it would have been no problem to move our table to another.But to do it in-front of us I felt was extremely rude and quite frankly no manners. And I would just like to add this customer she told us was 3 hours late to his booking! It then gets worse we was sat waiting for about 35 minutes still no food and we only ordered 2 sandwiches, when my partner asked about our food and where it was they apologised and said the chef has only just seen the ticket. The bar staff was sympathetic and did offer us a round of drinks but as we had to get back to our son for school pickup this was not an option. So unfortunately we didn’t get nothing to eat! I would like to add I’ve been coming to this pub for the past 10 years and this is the worst service I’ve ever had here! Very disappointing!

A great Sunday roast, great evening email, friendly service and good atmosphere.

The King’s Head is a charming pub with a lot to offer. The decor is warm and stylish, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere, especially during colder months. The beer garden is a lovely addition, perfect for sunny days. The food quality is generally good, with standout dishes like the Sunday Roast and fish & chips, both flavorful and well-presented. The staff such as Ethan and Jayde are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience.

Spent a lovely afternoon at this warm cosy pub. The service from Cai and Reece was friendly and efficient. We sat by the fire and had an excellent meal - roast pork dinner (very tender and tasty meat with plenty of gravy and Yorkshire!) and pork & apple sausages with mash and onion gravy. Hats off to the kitchen team- Martin, Haz, Senna and Lucy! Great selection of red wines, and was delighted to be offered a free Bloody Mary cocktail/shot too. It’s dog & children friendly and has a very welcoming and Christmassy atmosphere. Fun events lined up for the festive season, including an advent calendar hunt each day leading up to Christmas where you can win various things like a glass of bubbly! Lauren, the new manager, is doing a great job! Looking forward to my next visit.

We had our Xmas Party at King's Head last week and it was stunning! Everything was running smoothly, John was amazing with accomodating everything and we just had a lovely time! And fig crumble was just to die for! Food was great!

The most fantastic team; a bright positive experience from staff who clearly care about each customer. The manager was delightful, and gave time to everyone - and treated staff well. Food was absolutely delicious.

Beautiful pub but absolutely awful service. Simple things like ordering a drink at the bar seemed such an effort for them. The blonde girl on shift was at least serving with a smile but the taller male was SO RUDE!!! rolling their eyes at us, ignoring people at the bar and just standing on the side. Order was wrong when it came and food was very average. It’s such a shame as that pub could easily be a 10/10 but I wouldn’t even rate it a 1/10. It’s the staff that are the issue not the pub.

I was in tonight with my wife we had a wonderful time with our server Ethan and Jayde they were lovely and welcoming and helped us choose off the menu which was really good choices and the bar person Recce was very social 10/10

The pub itself is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere, but the staff were extremely rude, incompetent and clearly didn't want to be there. The food was definitely overpriced for what it was, worse quality than mcdonalds. Think this beautiful pub could do with some new staff and a food quality upgrade.

Great pub for a Sunday roast. Food quality is great and portions are generous. Service is quick and of a high quality. Good drink selection and reasonably priced. Core, Brytan, Lucy and especially Lauren were incredibly helpful and accommodating.

We went for a family Sunday roast and the food was amazing, we had the pork belly and the pigs on duvet, everything was very tasty! The waitress Lauren gave us a very accurate and great service, we we'll be back soon Thanks 😊

Cosy gastro pub in the Young's Chain. Fireplace in winter. Huge garden in summer. Good for parking, wheelchair access, cyclists and walkers.

A really lovely old traditional pub. Looks like it’s had a recent refresher as all decor and furniture was clean tidy and fresh looking. Lots of great and diverse art adorns many of the walls. Toilets clean , fresh , tidy and well stocked. Service mid week lunch was welcoming and efficient. Basic pub food menu was good quality and well presented. Will return.

Had a fantastic time at the Kings Head, and Coren the bartender really made the night! He was super friendly, welcoming us with a smile and really taking the time to craft our drinks just right. We tried a couple of his recommendations, and they were spot on. It’s obvious he knows his stuff and genuinely enjoys what he does. The whole vibe was great, and Coren definitely made it a memorable experience. Highly recommend stopping by when he’s behind the bar – can’t wait to come back!

Servers were very prompt and friendly - checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything that we needed. Food was very tasty - good quality and well-cooked. Roast Pork belly was particularly tasty, with nice, crispy crackling. The atmosphere and setting are both comfortable and clean - the toilets especially were spotless!

Don’t think I will be back to have the Sunday roast, although the roast was tasty the portion size vs the cost to me is unbelievable, 3 slices of beef cut small with 1 small potato cut into half small carrot ,parsnip half cut into half again , and a very large Yorkshire pudding to make the meal look big , I’m sorry but that doesn’t justify the cost of £21 each

- Drinks came in with lipstick stain - Ordered mushroom and blue cheese quiche instead got something completely different with a side of dead salad - Partner’s steak smelled like a 6 day old raw meat One of the waiter who issued our refund was very kind and helpful, the others looked like they hated being there. Will not be returning.

Used 1 star because can’t give 0. Went with my partner for a quick lunch that turned to a 45min wait for the food. My partner asked for his Caesar salad to be take away since he didn’t have time anymore and needed to go to work. The salad when he ate it was a really small portion, the chicken was borderline undercooked most pieces, he found pieces of eggshell in the salad and hair in the bread. The burger we asked medium was completely well done and really hard to eat. Definitely not a great experience.

So lovely amazing service incredibly accommodating

They ran out of roast on Sunday by 13:00. The food was quite abysmal. My friend got a cheesecake that was 70% frozen dough. When complained, it wasn’t even taken off the bill. The pub itself is very pretty but both food and service are substandard.

Worst service ever. We were given the wrong menus, and were told that nothing we wanted was available. We were then given the right menus and ordered again, only to be told that half of what we wanted, including roast chicken at 1.30pm on a Sunday when most of the menu is roast dinner. We walked out.

I have been to Kings Head Roehampton for about 15 years. However, yesterday several things we chose were not available because they only had one person in the kitchen. The food took an extremely long time to come and my pie and mash looked as if it had been thrown onto the plate. I also would have expected some small garnish. Pity. There are lots of other pubs to go to.

Went for evening meal after a really nice lunch the day before. How a pub can change ! Had to endure racism, sexism and swearing on an epic scale all at the top of the regulars voices. Bar staff did nothing to address it or ask them to tone it down. My ears were bleeding from the noise. Food was nice but atmosphere was intimidating and unpleasant.

Had a fabulous day celebrating one of my closest friends engagement. Gorgeous spread and very reasonable Magnum Bottle of Rosé. Gonna bring my mum back for lunch.

Service was good but food was terrible. Half of the vegetarian options weren't available so I ordered the quiche which was watery and bland and hadn't even been warmed up properly.

Had our leavers meal here a few weeks back, there were about 14 of us.. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the atmosphere was great staff were friendly.
