We came to the Kings Head on recommendation from a friend, and we were glad we did. The food was brilliant, the dining area clean and cosy, and the service was great and not invasive as other places can be. Ed, our server was very helpful and polite, he advised us on the chef's specials of the day, and confidently answered any queries we had. We met the chef and owner, Steve, who told us about his locally sourced meat and the interesting history of the Kings Head. We will be sure to return to this lovely, family friendly pub very soon!

Had a magical time. 80th birthday with 18 of us to stay. Great service and communication was very nice. Easy parking and had a lovely pub food. Worked really well for a big group. Mixed ages from 10 - 80 years and was great for all.

I did not stay at the kings head. But if the food is anything to go by. Then the rest of the services should be amazing.. I have not tasted food that good in a long time.

We went as a get together with 6 other couples. Had private room. Service was excellent. Attentive and patient with the more elderly of us!! Food was very good with huge portions. Will use again

Was away in a weeks trip and tried this pub for a Sunday lunch as had good reviews! Well they was wrong! When we arrived we ordered 2 lamb roast and a nut roast When the food had arrived it most definitely was not lamb! It was pork with a pork ring on it! When questioned and asked to change they stated there was no pork on the premises, even tho there was pork dishes on the menu! When we changed the order to them beef! It was boil in the bag beef! They took the veg of the table to bring back fresh because of it being cold! And they just stuck it in the microwave and brought the same dish back! The Yorkshire puddings was cremated and should not of been served. Overall the food was shocking and didn’t even acc eat the dinner. There was no remorse and £71 down the drain! Would never go back when visiting down here again. Absolutely shocking ! I mean our booking was for 6pm! But if you have run out of meat just state instead of serving 2 qualified chefs pork and saying it’s lamb! Only an idiot wouldn’t notice tbf.

Easter bank holiday weekend at Rye, staying at the kings Head. This will be our 4th stay. Accommodation is lovely in the lodges at the back of the pub. Very well equipt. The only slight issues for me is the bathroom. Tiny bath with overhead shower. Not the best. Would be top notch with a nice walk in shower. And the the noisy fan when the light in bathroom is switched on. Not good in the middle of the night. Management and staff at the Kings Head, excellant team, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Food is also excellant, good choices of breakfast and pub menu... Sunday lunch was delicious. All round fantastic stay... will return again at some point.

The kings Head was really busy, but they found space to accommodate us, superb food and excellent service. I would definitely recommend them. 5 star service under pressure.

We had lunch here today and it was wonderful. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Lovely atmosphere in the pub, and very dog friendly which is a big plus. Vegetarian menu was fantastic. So nice to go somewhere with more than 1 option, would highly recommend the Veggie chilli. Desert was also great, brownie was delicious. We'd love to return whenever we are visiting the area again..thank you for a lovely meal!

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Lovely lady I spoke to when booking could not have been more helpful accommodating our large table mother's day booking. The food was delicious and considering they were so busy, the service was speedy and always smiley! Will definitely be back

This is my second time staying here, and we re -booked because it is a great place to stay. This time we had an evening meal with a great selection . If in Rye we'll stay there again. Again the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Easy to find, stayed in one of the cottages, really nice room ,you can see a lot of thought and effort has gone into the rooms. The food was very nice and there own brew larger is superb, this was all topped of with fantastic service all the staff were very friendly, polite and greeted all the guests with a smile. Only thing for me is i would prefer a firm mattress but i would definitely stay here again...

Staying locally in the area and couldn't decide where to eat. We decided on the Kings Head Inn, and we are so glad we did. The staff were warm and friendly from the offset. Our server Mel was a breath of fresh air. She was the perfect hostess. We arrived too early for dinner, a drink was served, and we sat in front of the fire. When it was time, we got to our our table and were served quickly. The food was amazing, home cooked quality, generous portions, and you never felt rushed. It was a 10 out of 10 for everything. We can't wait to return.

Gardenrooms are dogfriendly but a bit outdated decorated. Suitable for an overnight stay. Service is gorgeous. The food is okay, but it's likely partially made from pre-packaged ingredients.

A lovely pub with excellent food . The staff are all very pleasant and friendly. I will be staying here soon after eating here twice . I'll let you know what it's like. Stayed here for two nights excellent value. The breakfast was well worth it. The chalets in the car park are very cosy

We certainly landed on our feet in choosing this family run hotel for one night. Everyone happy to help. Nothing too much trouble. The accommodation was situated slightly away from the main building. We stayed in a prettily furnished “cottage” room which initially had no heat in the bathroom and the toilet wouldn’t flush! However, this was dealt with promptly and the heating was still on, even when we returned at midnight! That was a relief! Our breakfast was really good. Great selection of cereals and hot food on the menu. We chose a full English and Eggs Benedict! Lovely thick brown nutty toast and spreads. This set us up perfectly for the day. Thank you for everything.

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. The fish and chips were delightful and the haddock fish cakes are packed full of flavour. My friend who is picky on where she eats absolutely loved their chocolate brownie, sniffing it in delight and was happy to find a lemon wedge with the fish as she was mentioning how so many places she's been to don't.

Had an average dinner here, what let it down was the food quality and portion size. Curry tasted like a frozen one to be honest an the prices didn't reflect the food quality!!! Such a shame as service an setting in venue was lovely.

Have stayed here many times and I can honestly say the food, accommodation and hospitality gets better and better. Staff are amazing and willing to go the extra mile to make your experience even better. Can't recommend The King's Head highly enough and I would encourage anyone who visits Rye to try out this lovely place for either an excellent meal or a good night's sleep. Breakfast and evening meals are exceptional and I highly recommend the sirloin steak. Steve & Lisa have wonderful personalities and this reflects in the business and through to their staff. I cannot recommend this B&B enough and i would encourage everyone who visits Rye to call in and try the many varieties of drink or something delicious from the lunchtime / evening menus. What a gem of a pub! Staff all so happy to be there, service exceptional and pub inside and out and tastefully furnished and immaculately clean. A magical outdoor beer garden lights up at night. The food and menu are of the highest standard from the rocking 80s kitchen. Well done to Steve and team you have a great pub 👍

Nice enough pub, reasonable food, nice staff

We took our dog for a lovely long walk at Camber Sands this morning and decided to grab a bite to eat on the way back home. We dropped into a couple of places, unfortunately they were not allowing us to bring our dog inside, some places do and some do not. We came up to the The Kings Head Inn and I popped in to see if they would allow dogs, fortunately the answer was yes. One word to describe the Kings Head Inn "OUTSTANDING" not only was it superbly presented inside it was also very spacious and lovely and warm. They have a very comprehensive menu and we were struggled to make a choice, with so many gorgeous dishes on offer I was like a kid in a sweet shop. I settled on a Chicken breast burger with all the trimmings, coleslaw and chunky tripple cooked fries and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was impeccable, very attentive waitress and the owner was really friendly, even brought out a few dog biscuits for our furry friend. There is absolutely nothing that I would be able to suggest to improve our experience. Not only do they own the Kings Head Inn in Rye, they also have three other places, all privately owned. There is the "Swan Inn" at Sandhurst, the "Ship Inn" at Dymchurch and "Fletchers House" which is also in Rye and if the "Kings Head Inn" is any to go by, you can expect a superb dinning experience. 10 out of 10 and highly recommended. *UPDATE* We visited the Kings Head Inn again today 3/9/23 and had lunch and it was superb, excellent service and the food was delicious. A couple of pictures of the food attached but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the vegetables that came with the lamb roast dinner.

Visit yearly. Never stay anywhere else. Great location 👌

There are gluten free options. The staff are really nice and friendly. There is alot of choice for food and it arrived quickly. The restaurant has really nice decor.

Stayed in a two bedroom lodge at King's Head Inn with family for two nights whilst attending a wedding locally. Clean and spacious dwelling with all required if self catering. Provided a travel cot for our little one which was kind and hugh chairs available in main bar. Double room got quite noisy from street and bright in the morning (no blackouts) but the other room was set further back so better for baby to sleep in. Great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. We had the warmest of welcomes and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us! Our room was comfortable and a good size for family. Breakfast left us very satisfied and set up for the day. We would definitely recommend this inn to anyone visiting the area!

The King's Head Inn was good and we had a very enjoyable evening. The standard of the food served was absolutely excellent. Service was a little on the slow side, but it was a busy evening in the establishment. I would certainly give the Kings Head another visit should I return to the area.

Lovely Pub with nice and clean rooms.

Visired for dinner whilst on holiday. My favourite, Belly of Pork, was my obvious choice. It came with cheesy mash and vegetables, but unfortunately it was drown in a bowl of gravy. The Pork Belly was Ok at best. The crackling, whilst looking good, was coloured rind and not at all crackling. The pork, whilst moist, had very little flavour. The mash which was not covered in gravy was tasty. The best part of this visit was the very friendly staff. Not sure if i will be back.

After several excellent lunches over a period of time last Sunday's experience was extremely disappointing. Food mediocre, served with indifference after a longer than usual wait whilst staff leaned on the bar. Appeared that customers for food are no longer of interest to current proprietors.

The staff are probably the nicest people in Rye! Nothing is too much for them and they have time to chat and take an interest in what you have to say. The accommodation is perfect for us and our dogs. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We went here for a meal and wow, the food was absolutely fantastic. A nice choice of dishes without there being too many. A great choice of drinks as well. The staff were really friendly and the pub itself is a lovely old traditional pub. We will definitely visit again.

Turned up unannounced and had a good pub meal at a great price and washed down with a pint of Harvey's best, What's not to like!

We stopped for lunch on a busy Easter Saturday. Despite being quite late, the staff was super friendly and helpful in ensuring that we could get a meal before the kitchen closed at 2.30pm. We had a very generous portion of fish and chips and a side salad. Everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend and revisit.

From start to finish the king's head inn made my family's mother's day meal the best. Firstly staff are very friendly and attentive and a massive thank you in particular Mel who was absolutely amazing she's helped me make mother's day special everything was sorted out ready for when we got there keep in contact to make sure everything was run smoothly which it did and was so kind. When we got to the restaurant staff were brilliant and the food was even better there was a massive party of us and the food was still amazing every course we could not fault and the roast dinner was amazing especially the roasties they were to die for. Cannot wait to book our next meal here

Really nice place to visit in the town in one of the main or most famous roads of rye. Staff were very polite and helpful, affordable, and also very clean, with plenty of space to sit and enjoy the drink next to the fireplace, I can't rate the food because we didn't eat there

Spent the New Year weekend here and it was absolutely fantastic. Really friendly and helpful staff who made sure everyone had a great time celebrating the New year. Our room was excellent and had everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely be booking another stay at this fantastic place

Went for Christmas Day dinner a party of 4. The staff were friendly and attentive nothing too much trouble. The portions were generous and cooked to perfection. The menu was very comprehensive and catered for all tastes. We all went for Scallop starters that was followed by a mouth cleansing sorbet before our main of Turkey and all the trimming and a braised Beef . Then Christmas pudding and custard, 2 had cheese and biscuits. Then coffee and mince pies. We can't fault it definatelly do it again. Can't wait to go in the New year.

We came here for the night for our 1st year anniversary and stayed in one of the cottages. We really could not fault this place, clean, cosy and classy. Beautiful nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant and it was delicious (compliments to the chef) the truffle mash and truffle and oarmsan fries are a must order. Our servers I think we're called Susan and Marie were wonderful and Amy on front desk was lovely. We will be visiting again soon x

We had a fantastic stay at the Kings Head, a whole hectic bunch of us - and we were really blown away by the hospitality. At probably the busiest time of the year, they were on top form - all of the staff were attentive and helpful and we were treated to the best service, and cracking food. The breakfast superb, I went back for the eggs benedict on the second morning - delicious. The bed in the cabin I stayed in was very comfortable and the best thing, was the care and attention they gave my dog. She had a wonderful time and it made my stay even more relaxing. Great stuff. See you next year!

We’ve visited the Kings Head Inn on 4 occasions over recent years for an overnight stay, the last one being last night. We arrived on a really miserable afternoon so spent a couple of hours in the pub with the lovely Helen being our host. What a perfect afternoon sat by a crackling fire enjoying good conversation and a couple of pints. The evening meal and service was totally outstanding; Lisa & Steve really do know how to look after their guests. Breakfast this morning was amazing which topped off a brilliant nights sleep in a super comfy bed with fresh white bedding. Can’t fault the Kings Head Inn and we look forward to our annual visit next year. Thank you so much for having us!

Very good food and friendly staff. We had the baked Camembert to start, would have been better if the cheese had been a bit more mature,it was creamy but not that strong flavour, chutney was good. Mains we had the slow cooked pork, beef, hunter chicken and chilli. Both the slow cooked meat dishes were great, really soft and tender, chili also good. Hunter chicken ok but not amazing as the tomato sauce just seemed like ketchup Lots of good beers, ciders and wines Good place to go for lunch or dinner and the new outside seating area and beer garden is really nice
