What’s not to like about Pieminster pies. They are simply the best. We had an excellent lunch, very simple, but super tasty. The staff were great, the food hot, tasty and arrived quickly, which was all we could have asked for. They have pies for every dietary requirement, they all come with mash and a veggie side. Great lunch.

We had decided we were going to eat here on a one night stay at Horncastle as we wanted to try the Pieminister pies. We ended up staying all night. We were made to feel very welcome and included in conversations at the bar, the excellent Bateman XXXB beer a bonus of course. It made our visit to this lovely little market town very enjoyable. Thanks Tom and family. 👍

I had the weirdest experience ever when I popped over to Horncastle with a friend who was looking for some antiques. We found this charming pub that looked super inviting from the outside, so we decided to go in for a drink. We got our drinks and grabbed a seat by the window, thinking it was a nice spot. After a bit, I noticed this young guy who was clearly pretty drunk, swearing at an elderly man sitting on a stool. I kept an eye on him because he seemed like he might cause trouble. And sure enough, the next thing I know, this guy (people were calling him Tom) grabs the old man in a headlock and drags him to the floor causing beer and glass to fly across the room . A man and a woman quickly stepped in, calmed things down, and helped the old guy back onto his stool. Meanwhile, The lad wandered off to the other end of the bar, still muttering and swearing , he was handed another drink . My friend and I just looked at each other in shock because everyone else in the pub acted like nothing had happened. I went over to talk to the lady who had helped break up the fight and asked why no one had called the police or kicked him out. She shrugged and said it happens all the time. Apparently, The lad is always acting up and picking fights in there , but the regulars tolerate it because his relative owns the place!!! Safe to say, I won’t be going back there anytime soon.

A lovely traditional pub in centre of this quaint town. The building has obviously been updated and has been done to a good standard. Good selection of real ales and their speciality menu of pies looked very interesting.

This is the most dismal place , I have been in , rude staff / owners , food appalling , beer was disgusting, after 3 attempts to pull a pint of so called real ales , I ended up having lager, as not really much can go wrong with it .

A real treat if you love your pies. Extensive menu has never failed to impress. The pies are exactly as they should be plentiful filling with a crisp, light pastry. Accompaniments; mash, peas, onion gravy (pot of cheese and crispy shallots if you order a Mothership meal) are all equally excellent in taste which makes for a great dining experience. This was based on a Steak and Kidney (titled Kate and Sidney on the menu) mothership meal.

Visited horncastle for the weekend and had a great night in this pub. They wern't doing food for lunch but on the night had a fantastic singer on , what a voice he had. We left for a meal at our hotel then returned later, it was a lot busier then and had a dj on playing some great songs. Pub looked like it had been reburished recently as it looked very smart. Very enjoyable evening.

First visit and a bit unsure when found out only pies on the menu but these were delicious. Plenty of choice served up with gorgeous mash and tastiest gravy. Make sure you are hungry because really filling, especially if you add the cheddar and crispy shallots (highly recommended). Tried a draft Porter and this was also very tasty. Visiting Horncastle again in a few weeks and this will definitely be on our agenda.

Locally know as the Thatch, the pub provides the Pieminster range, which are very good pies with mash, mushy peas and gravy. It also serves a good pint of Batemans XB which went well with the food.

Warm, friendly welcome to this olde English pub. The food choice is limited to a selection of pies only but a great selection. The vegetarian choices are as many as the meat selection and very tempting too. I chose a goats cheese, sweet potato, spinach & red onion which was served on a nest of mashed potato and jug of gravy. Mushy peas are an option and just a shame fresh peas are not an option too. Cooked to perfection with delicious crust and plenty of filling. Friendly service throughout our visit. Many thanks.

First impressions of the pub were very promising. We were looking for a quiet drink before moving on elsewhere for a meal on Saturday evening. We were served some really good, well kept ale by the friendly, helpful barmaid and decided to move out to the enclosed yard at the back as it was a warm evening. Unfortunately from there the experience went downhill. A couple were having a really unpleasant "domestic" in the seats near the back door, including lots of crying and liberal use of some very foul language. I appreciate this isn't necessarily the fault of the pub but these people really should have been ejected. The barmaid on her own clearly wasn't able to deal with it so where was the publican?

What a lovely pub. Nicely decorated and clean. We chose a steak and stilton pie and a steak and kidney pie. Comes with just gravy or with peas and mash, etc depending on your taste. We haven't had such tasty pies in years. I could actually taste the stilton. Well presented and filling. Hubby had the peas and mash as well and was very full. Good choice of beers. Helpful staff.

As soon as we spotted the little Pieminister sign here we knew where we’d be having lunch on our day out in Horncastle! Love a Pieminister pie as they make the best vegetarian pie known to man - the Heidi is just brilliant. So for a very reasonable price we enjoyed pie, mash, peas and gravy in a lovely old pub setting. Beautifully clean throughout and the modern touches here work well with proper pub charm. If we hadn’t have been driving we’d have spent a good while longer here as there was a great choice of beer on offer too.

After moving to Horncastle about a year and a half ago, 'The Thatch' quickly became my local due to a good selection of very well kept ales with regular guests but most importantly due to friendly welcoming owners and regulars who have made us feel at home. We visited on our way back to Skegness from Lincoln on what had been a very rainy day. We wanted something to eat and were not disappointed. A large pub meal was not what we were after but were very satisfied with the pies we had. I had steak pie with gravy only and my husband had stand kidney ( the best he has had in a long time he says) with mash, gravy and peas. They were delicious and the beer was good too. A charming old world style pub with some quirky jokes and friendly barman and landlord. The meal was just what we needed we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Unfortunately, the Dunes Complex is definitely not wheelchair friendly. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park. However, they were all taken, and some didn't have Blue Badges visible. Once in the Dunes Complex, there are 2 more ramps to consider, the 1st one is quite steep, and the 2nd one is less of a hassle. If a wheelchair user or someone who has mobility difficulties wanted to get to the stage, they would have to ask staff for a further ramp. To get onto the stage itself, well, there are narrow corridors that a wheelchair does not fit through, and there are no handles or any form of mobility aid.

Staying in Aby village for a week's holiday and had to try the local pub. Exterior looks a bit "tired" but don't be put off - inside it's friendly. cosy and lots of character. Excellent choices of dishes on the menu and "daily specials" board - we especially appreciated the choice of gluten-free options and Dawn was happy to go through each option in detail. Good portions and served hot! Very tasty and wholesome. Wide range of dessert options too and it was evident from conversations with other diners, that Dawn would also be happy to adapt these just to suit individual requirements. Obviously very deserving of the many awards over many years.

I ordered a Sunday roast delivery from here and it went in the bin as soon as it arrived! Everything was burnt to a crisp and absolutely disgusting, I would not recommend eating here at all! I've heard from a few people how awful the food has been there for a while now but thought we'd give it a go for ourselves. Avoid at all costs and don't waste your money here!
