Following a little recce of the three pubs in Kettlewell, The Kings Head menu stood out for their selection. The service, friendliness of the staff and the food itself was outstanding. I chose to have the 10 hour slow cooked brisket of beef in a red wine jus with hot pot potatoes and seasonal veg. Worth every penny and the nicest meal I've had in a long time. I'd recommend The Kings Head to anyone planning a visit to Kettlewell.

Well..... Upon entering it was obvious we weren't particularly welcome. Landlord loud, abrasive and really not friendly at all. As I was with my mum (79) who really needed a sit down we thought we'd just go with it. Food - pizza or a sandwich. That was it. On a busy afternoon. So had 2 pizzas for £10 each. Really not impressive. Supposedly home-made. If so would suggest they go back to the drawing board and start again. Very over-priced drinks came in cheap plastic glasses. No, not the sturdy kind - those that you pick up and if you're not careful spill all over when you pick them up ! Why ? Were they expecting a pensioners riot ?!! Damp patches all over the celing, gents toilets an absolute smelly disgrace. Just thinking they can sit in a tourist trap and take money from people they'll never see again ? Certainly seemed like it.

Ordered the haddock with greens new potatoes and lemon cream sauce! Lovely staff and didn’t wait too long. Fantastic piece of fish but no sauce - very dry. Asked if the lemon cream sauce was coming? No there’s lemon infused in the peas!!!! Nota hint of lemon and still very dry. Would have been fab with a lemon cream sauce which I could have made myself!! After complaining chef gave me some warm cream with a half lemon sitting in it. I leave you to your own conclusions 🤔😮‍💨☹️😟

The Kings Head was my first step into holidays/short breaks alone, since I was widowed; and I made exactly the right choice for my accommodation and destination. From the moment I arrived and throughout my short break I felt welcome, cared for, safe and happy. I received a warm welcome from Karen and Mark, who both took time to show me to my room and ensure I had all i needed. My room was large, clean, comfortable and well appointed with all I needed. A really lovely place to relax and sleep well in. The food prepared by Mark was excellent (the crowning glory for me was the (sublime) 10 hour braised Brisket of Beef! The full English Breakfast was substantial and eliminated the need for lunch during the days! I have enjoyed my stay at The Kings Head immensely and look forward to back again in the not too distant future.

Camped nearby and visited the pub the three nights we were in Kettlewell. Warm welcome from Karen and Mark, hard to believe they're had the pub weeks and not years. First night was Euro semi finals, seats were found at last minute ensuring all could see the screen. We were lucky to win the Thursday night quiz and 'play your cards right', good mix of visitors like ourselves and friendly locals who came over to chat. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast which was our quiz prize, set us up for our journey home. We will definitely be back!

We were a group of 6 friends in our 60's and 70s who meet up once a year for catch up. Mark found us a table last night and cooked us a treat. I had the best cheese and onion pie I've ever eaten. It was homemade with a layer of caramel onion chutney between the cheese and the pastry. It was just delicious. The others had a brisket cooked slowly for 10 hours and it was over an 1.5 inches thick and just fell apart. The puddings were unbelievable and the ambience perfect. Mark and his staff have only taken over the pub 6 weeks ago and you can tell they are really making an effort. Highly recommend it.

What a lovely experience made so much better by the hospitality of Dave and Hannah. We turned up on a Wednesday morning in the middle of a snowstorm hitting minus 7 on the thermometer. Even though they had no other bookings and were deliberating closing early the welcomed us with open arms. They stayed on for most of the day so we could drink in the pub and even though they were short stocked due to lack of delivery’s they offered to cook whatever they had left if we wanted to eat there. We had the pub to ourselves for the evening and even though the weather was getting worse they still came back the following morning to cook us a banging full English breakfast. Unbeknown to us they had invited a homeless gentlemen who had got stranded in the village for a free breakfast which shows the heart of our hosts. The pub was wonderfully warm selling some great beers and offering lovely food. The menu looked fantastic and made our mind up to definitely go back in better weather so we can experience the full menu on offer. Our room was beautiful situated on the top floor overlooking the church over the road. The facilities were second to none and everything we needed was always on hand. We were able to watch the smart tv with no issues from the WiFi and catch up on the odd email at the same time. Thank you so much for having us guys you made the whole trip away brilliant and thanks again for the celebratory drink on the house. Can’t wait to come back soon.

What a treat to find a relaxed and friendly pub with great food values in this lovely village. Everything on the menu was tempting and it was obvious when the food arrived that there is a sure and skilled hand in the kitchen. We had delicious brisket and confit belly pork - both freshly cooked with great ingredients and in satisfying portions. The sticky toffee pudding was both light and, well, sticky. I loved it, and I don’t even like STP. Service was friendly and cheerful and very kind to our nervous dog.

Stopped by to refuel after a long walk. Service was A1, food absolutely divine. Fish starter, roast dinner (wish I'd had room for desert): 10 out of 10. Staff attentive, beautiful interior, high quality food. Perfection!

Yesterday evening we went into this pub looking for a quick drink. We only had 30 mins but thought we’d pop in. Upon arrival there was no track and trace to fill out, which was alarming. We asked for a table for 2, and was...

We had dinner in the King’s Head pub after a bracing walk in the surrounding Dales. We liked the décor a lot – the flagstone floors, big fireplace and the big black bar. The menu, displayed on a giant blackboard, describes the delights on offer...

Great, friendly staff - we called in for a beer, which was excellent. Really wished we had the time for lunch as the menu looked superb and the dishes that appeared looked fab.

Lovely, welcoming staff! We booked in for a Wednesday night meal at 8pm, sat outside (in the cold) as the previous guests where still there. Inside is lovely, cosy and small - tables are seated close for that lovely traditional, intimate feel. The restaurant aren’t...

Stayed at The Lister Arms for a couple of nights mid week. We stayed in the Lister Barn which is a 2 minute walk from the actual pub. Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Breakfast and dinner here were both really good with large portions. Lots of dogs inside the bar area too which was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Fantastic place. Roll with bacon and sausage was lovely. Really good quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. I've been coming here on caving trips for 25 years and always either start or finish the day in Inglesport. Love it. The only thing I'd say... bring back the pints of tea!!! And please don't ever stop doing the tiffin, it is the best on the planet.

After driving around the Yorkshire Dale's, we were in need of a drink and snack. We came across this lovely little tearoom and we weren't disappointed, quirky and quaint I would say, very friendly, great value for money too.

On arrival the pub does not inspire confidence in the quality of food - but it was really very good. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.
