The Kingfisher - JD Wetherspoon in Cheshire East

It's possibly the slowest service I've received in any spoons. However, the waitress was lovely, food up to the usual standard, and it was extremely busy so understandable.

Usually it's okay, I had just three bad experiences: They were probably short of staff and nobody was taking the dishes out and they were accumulating on the tables, taking away seating space. Another shortage of staff - food arrived very late and poorly made. As I'm never checked for my age and we ordered a 0% beer, I didn't take my ID. Apparently next to our table there was a manager having a meal and he called a waiter to check my ID. I had a particularly stressful day and came here to relax and enjoy my meal, but I was stressed out by him and questioned about my age (27), thay didn't accept a photo of my passport and eventually they took away our non-alcoholic drink. I would understand if that was alcohol (but still don't understand questioning my age if I'm clearly an adult), but it was a 0% beer. So it was quite an unpleasant experience.

Walked in on a busy Saturday, found a table, and ordered on the app—food arrived in 6 minutes! My beer took a little longer, but given how packed they were, fair enough. Went to the bar, and despite the queue, the two guys there spotted I had a query and sorted my drink quickly. Well done to the team for keeping things running smoothly under pressure!

Visited yesterday with my partner. Although it was fairly busy, all staff remained so lovely and accommodating and made the experience great! Will definitely be back!!

20/02/25 I don't know what went off but we went in for dinner 20 plus tables empty but full of dirty plates, food all over the floor, the bar was full of dirty glasses and one poor lad trying to clean up, I've sent the video to head office, it was like a chimp's tea party had gone in on speed Very poor

Low cost but poor service when a few customers are in

Easily one of the cosier and better decorated spoons. Lots of tables, some in booths or slightly screened off. Nice to see the working beer room exposed and a nice open fire. Usual beer and food.

Ordered mi ed grill, I got a 5 inch steak over cooked, 2× 5 inch gammin dry overcooked and hard, no lamb and slimy mushroom.

One of the most bizarre experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We ordered two breakfasts, it was very busy so we were not too bothered about the wait. We were sat close to the pass and could see plates of food piling up on it and two young serving staff looking at it and then looking at a screen. We assumed they were new and familiarising themselves with table locations but food wasn't coming out. Every now and then a couple of plates were taken to a table but mostly they were just stood there watching! After 25 minutes we could see what we thought were our breakfasts amongst all the other plates of food on the two shelves of the pass. At one point, one of the servers took one plate off, looked confused at it then put it back at the end! It was almost comical to watch, like a scene from Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Another 15 minutes passed and, sure enough, the two breakfasts we saw earlier were indeed ours. Needless to say, we weren't able to enjoy two piping hot platefuls of full English with sumptuous runny fried eggs to dip our warm toast in. What we got was two tepid plates of food which were soon stone cold and fried eggs that resembled the rubber ones in my granddaughter's play kitchen. "Why didn't you complain?" I hear you cry. Well as you probably know, not only are us Brits terrible at customer service, we're equally inept at complaining about it. I was waiting for one of the servers to ask us if everything was OK to take the opportunity to explain that it wasn't, but they were far too busy staring gormlessly at the mounting piles of food and the little screen. Besides which, what would complaining have achieved? Would they have slung our food the microwave for a minute to well and truly finish those poor fried eggs off, or spend another 40 minutes dishing up two more luke warm offerings? By now I was so hungry I would have happily squirted some ketchup on the menu and chowed down on that. I daresay it was warmer and more moist than my egg. Clearly the two young servers needed a manager or at least someone with more experience working alongside them. Lesson learned I suppose, next time I wake up on a Saturday with a hunger for a nice slap up brekkers, I'll save myself the aggro and do it myself.

A different type of building than the normal Wetherspoon in that it's a built for purpose pub. When I walked in I thought it looked like a café. The other comparison that I would say is that it's a lot brighter than the norm. An enjoyable pint and natter with the barstaff who were very helpful with my choosing of a beer 🍺.

Lovely busy pub, visited with Children in the holidays - food and service was great. Plenty of car parking too - very convenient!

Eggs benedict was lukewarm so sent it back. The second was colder than the first. There always seems to be a problem with the food here.

This John who comes in every Monday with my elderly parents for breakfast. This is the best J D Wetherspoons I’ve ever been to. We stopped going other branches in different area around Cheshire and Trafford. The staff here are all very accommodating. The service is second to none. The hygiene and cleanliness is exceptional. I’m not one for leaving reviews but in this case I feel like I need to say something.

We love it our local is Stalybridge wish we love but we like to come hear for a change

Very good establishment, great atmosphere, staff all working hard. Really nice hot food served very quickly. Greta place to eat and drink. Would recommend to a friend.

We come here quite often and all the staff are very welcoming, decent food and cheap drink, what more could you want? One of the best looking Wetherspoons I've ever been in. The staff soon become more like friends, the manager James is great and the staff Rohan, Lucy, Emma, Lucas, Sam, Mal, Adam, Nick, Chloe and Brad (I'm probably missing a few) will all make your visit worthwhile 😊

Called in for breakfast, well prepared. Friendly staff.

Unfortunately this pub doesn’t allow dogs on the premises or even in the large garden area. A bit of an outdated policy so won’t be visiting too often.

Outstanding place to eat, I was blown away that I could swap my chips for coleslaw!!! What a great Idea! It's the most fantastic coleslaw I've ever had in my entire life.... Much better that chips, especially when your watching the carbs! Staff and management are great, always a clean pub and the service is A1. Keep up the good work! Best Wetherspoon pub by far!

Large seating area. The usual menu. And very reasonable price for drinks. This pub is in the lovely town of Poynton. I'm not sure what happened with the car park when we visited, but we had to reverse out.

Food OK, eggs overdone and yolk hard. Had fiesta brunch, salsa not great very thin and quite tart.

It's wetherspoons , good value drinks and food

Went for breakfast which is served until 12 . Had the freedom breakfast which cost £2.99. Had hot chocolate which means you can have as much tea or coffee as you want. I take the choc packet home. Nothing to complain about here.

A better Wetherspoons, decent atmosphere and cheap drinks.

We often stop off at the restaurant sometimes for just a hot drink and other occasions for a full dinner and drinks. It’s a lovely pub but can get very busy at certain times of the week.

I would like to thank Cleo who went above and beyond helping me sort out a issue with a transaction that went wrong, she help me with the process and found the time to go through it step by step, she was so understanding and so professional and put me at ease and reassured me it would be sorted out which it was, well done again Cleo!

A great Spoons, went here twice for the breakfast when we were staying nearby, ordering through the App was effortless, we sat outside as the weather was nice. Both occasions drinks arrived fast, food was excellent and service was very good. Top Spoons!!

This has to be one of the nicest and well staff locations that I have been to. There was plenty of staff on site and they cleared plates from guests when finished. It is nicely decorated. The food is typical Weatherspoons but still a good value

Massive beer garden, so we've been able to take advantage of the weather as well as cheap drinks. Staff are friendly but what's this one napkin per person thing when you've got a plate of chicken wings?? Anyway great place

Great Value Breakfast especially the Freedom Breakfast

My local, very handy 5 mins walk and I'm there. Yes food is not top notch but for the price, well worth it. Been to many wetherspoons and never seen one as nice as this place. Had family up from Kent a couple of months ago and they all mentioned how much nicer The Kingfisher is compared to other wetherspoons. An added bonus of the different ales they get in to try at a bargain price of £1:29, well it would be rude not to. Lastly not forgetting plenty of outside tables for the days we get when the sun does shine.

Very slow service, had run out of a drink that was available on the app to order. Disappointed

Very slow at the bar as only 1 person serving. Food left for ages before brought to the table so quiet cold. Very little content in children bolognese.

Excellent place so clean and huge Maybe a few more bar staff to hand as was standing at the bar for 15 minutes while the barman took a food order but overall a great place

Decor was nice, service and food were awful. 4 different dishes and none were tasty. Server tipped chips into a drink, offered no apology, replaced the drink but no replaced chips, and slammed (made a really loud noise and startled us and people on the next table, there was no warning, a drink suddenly arrived with a loud bang) the replacement drink on the table as she walked past, no slowing down and again no apology, just left. We'll never go here again.

One of the best Wetherspoons pub ever! Excellent food and drink and a great atmosphere. Due to it being busy we had to wait a short while for the food but when it arrived it was wonderful! Excellent value for money and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Definitely will be going again.

Really nice place, food was almost perfect, service was excellent and very friendly. The exterior of the building is nice looking and very inviting, the interior is well set out, plenty of space around the bar, plenty of choices to sit and enjoy, love the weatherspoons app, once ordered with our table number, our food arrived at our table in no time.

The breakfast was good for the price and it was nice and clean. Although the black pudding came rock hard they replaced it as soon as possible.

Reasonabley priced ,clean , child friendly

Had to return our meals due to the jacket potatoes being cold. When the meals were replaced the chicken breast was not cooked properly. Sent those back & and got a full refund on our food. Won't be eating here again.

This is just like a regular Wetherspoons. Food is low standard but drinks are good. People are friendly and atmosphere is alright. One of the more modern Wetherspoons. I wouldn’t hurry to go back. But a cheap, viable option if in poynton.

Not the easiest spoons to get to using public transport, nevertheless, good service, excellent shawarma with a subtle combination of spice and mint, and a very good ale. The atmosphere was rather lacklustre, probably due to the lack of sunshine,.especially considering the beautiful landscaped gardens.

Just had a lasagne. OK it wasn't freshly made by the chef, but it was very good and very tasty and came with a substantial salad. The price was fair at £8 or so, but this included a pint and I chose Jaipur which is £5 a pint anywhere else. So I effectively paid £3 for my meal. I have never been disappointed at Wetherspoons. And I just realised that until the end of February, they are offering Ruddles at 99p per pint. They make the other pubs look like bandits!

Surprisingly upmarket Wetherspoon! Food was good, service ok, decor lovely! Quite busy for a midweek lunchtime and the tables are a bit cramped.

Smart,modern feel to this wethis with plenty of outdoor seating too. Fairly busy for the time of day but service super quick and good good.
