Nice place, all the staff were great, pub is good and the room was nice, clean a warm. The only gripe I have and it’s minor is the check out being at 10am, I understand rooms have to be prepared for the next customers but you expect a 10am departure at lower grade hotels, Premier Inn and Travelodge have 12noon, if this could be reviewed it would make the hotel 10/10 for me.

Visited this pub with family, would not go back, service was dreadfull, only a few people in, had to wait 30 mins for order to be taken, then the same happened with our sweet order, old stale vinegar bottle was given, which we asked to be replaced, which it was. No cream in the pub to go with our sweet, we had to go up to the bar to order it, as staff were too busy chatting Two cokes were flat. Great shame, we have used this place three times before in the pass few years and been pleased. Sadly, we will find somewhere else, Very disappointed , especially as it has newly been decorated.

Service great and lovely pub.. shame about the food. Food has drastically changed since our last visit in March .. possibly a new takeover? Freshly battered fish in March, today’s was a frozen oven fish similar to one you buy in Iceland. Such a shame as the place is lovely

So bad we couldn't help find it funny. The Fawlty Towers of Knutsford. The two staff that were there morning til night had only started 2 weeks prior and evidently given zero training. Did not know how to work the bar. The food was edible although with nothing else to pick from close by after a long journey you'd eat a soiled shoe. I wish we had taken photos. My friends lasagna turned up already mashed up - we were speechless. I can only deduce it had been mushed to make sure it had been cooked through in the microwave. Other memorable moments were when we had to ring the last orders bells behind the bar to get any staff attention and queues of guests trying to check in while staff were smoking outside. I honestly don't blame them for this and would put it down to training. The young man seemed rushed off his feet constantly. It's such a shame as the pub itself is decorated nicely but it seems that poor management is running this place down.

Sorry guys, but the food and choice is just awful. Clearly this hotel is being renovated at the moment but if the management don't get a grip soon the damage done to their reputation will be irretrievable. The service is simply not professional - from dress code, menu presentation to general attitude. And just to make matters worse, the Chef didn't turn in this morning, so no breakfast. Indeed, the conversation at the breakfast table between two contractors went, "This place gets worse by the day." I have had the 'Please Service My Room' hung on the outside of my door for the last 3 days and still the room doesn't get serviced. Such a shame, as this hotel has huge potential, given how nice the bar/restaurant areas are and its proximity to Manchester Airport.

Where do I start, firstly you order an orange juice and lemonade, and they have no orange juice, that should have started alarm bells ringing but nope, it was a long drive before we headed off to our hotel we ordered fish chips and mushy peas, expecting some nice light freshly battered crispy fish, some nice fluffy chips and nice thick mushy peas, mmmmm nope we got something straight from freezer greasy cheap fish, some straight out of the freezer skin on French fries, and what can only be described as pea soup. A quick trip to Iceland and I could have done better for £2:00 a plate, definitely not what we paid overpriced is an understatement absolutely dreadful definitely don’t waste your time or money!!!

Sad to say that we were very disappointed on our most recent visit here (early May 2024), and yet my wife had visited just a few weeks earlier and had a totally different experience. We suspect that it has been bought out by a chain who have radically reduced the menu to the absolute minimum of choices, which are limited to approx 4 starters and 4 mains now. None of the beer pumps were working on our last visit (bottles only on the bar). Service was fine, but this pub does not appesr to be what it once was, sadly.

what the hell has happened to the menu ? samosas came still frozen in the middle. its more like going to a takeaway not a nice country pub for some good food like it was 2 weeks ago, who ever decided to change the menu has no idea about marketing im sure they are trying to close the place down. the staff were excellent btw and this review is no reflection on their perfromance i actually feel sorry for them hearing all the guest complaining about the "new" menu

I really wanted to like this place, the staff were brilliant and the service great but the food was terrible. Actually it was just the fried food that was bad, my wife's gammon was great but the chips and my scampi were really greasy. The type of greasy where the oil hasn't been hot enough. It genuinely made me feel sick trying to eat it, and it's such a shame because the ingredients seemed good quality.

I think the hotel are more interested in taking the government money for the hotel and the back full ov asilum seekers . Manger did apologise, fair play she did not cook the food however don’t think she told the cook as she herself look about 12 years old. Never again. So sad nice pub . I have been to the kilton a few times before it changed hands. It was never the best but you could grab a cheap eat which was ok. I visited for breakfast with the new owners as it was advertised a lot around the pub and online. The food was absolutely disgusting I was very unwell with the thought of what I ate. The breakfast was not great. The sausage was a deep fried mess. I later was told it is their own sausage which just is pork mince with nothing else. The bacon was bbq grilled and poor quality and cold. Almost Like leather. The black pudding mushrooms and hash browns all Tasted frozen and all was caked in oil. The food took 35 minutes to arrive and the pub was fully empty so the advertisements hadn’t payed off or they had and people didn’t want to go back. The food just needs to be revamped as the kilton has so much competition in the area and for it to be a local to myself I start to become a little ashamed. The company really needs to take a step back and evaluate everything.

Nice pub interior. Friendly staff. But having been told soup of the day was carrot and coriander the waitress then brought our starters out. She brought out a bowl of mushroom soup and then explained that soup of the day was actually mushroom was that ok. Not really, seen as that was not what was ordered. We did actually see the funny side and ordered something different. Food was ok, nothing to get excited about. I ordered Lamb dinner which was a little dry but not worth complaining about having added the gravy. Dessert we had apple crumble which was nice. Having then visited the toilet which were really badly designed my daughter had to literally climb on the toilet seat to be able to close the door. The door was about an inch off the toilet seat not very suitable for the average person let alone anyone any bigger.

We have been here many times and it has always been a real favourite with our family, especially for their amazing Sunday dinners. 10 of us went yesterday for a birthday treat & we were SO disappointed. The place was empty but service was terrible & the food was not good. They didn't have many things, including pigs in blankets & cauliflower cheese, which were standard for their Sunday dinner, to name just 2 items. The portions were poor & the roast beef was equal portions of fat & tough meat. There were 2 small, thin pieces of carrot & parsnip, 2 tiny long stem broccoli pieces & 3 small roasted new potatoes & that was the Adult portion of veg on each plate. Previous the chef had done a brilliant job of fitting all the amazing food onto 1 plate. We cleared the plates away ourselves during the 25 minute wait for our deserts to arrive & there was only a small portion of ice cream available as it had melted. The young lady that served us was Lovely, but she apologised so many times we all felt sorry for her. We will now be looking for another restaurant for our family favourite, as we will definitely not be returning. We have found out that it has changed hands & things have clearly taken a nosedive. Only saving grace is that they did a lovely desert board with Happy Birthday piped on for our Granddaughter, which made her happy.......which is what the whole visit was about.

We visited as a family last week after going to a nearby pub restaurant which was fully booked and came to The Kilton which was empty apart from one table which raised alarm bells but we were hungry and having been here before, we thought it’s ok. Considering the pub was nearly empty, it took sometime for the lady to acknowledge us seat us. Ordered drinks which took time to arrive but they came. We then ordered food including 2 starters; the spicy scotch eggs… where do I start? The scotch egg was served already cut in half and just by looking at it, it had been cooked for about 2 weeks. The yolk was like dust and the white was that over cooked, it had layers. Eating it was like it was coated in plastic and the entire thing was like warm. This had obviously been pre cooked but then microwaved as what should have been a crunchy exterior was a soft breaded mess. The lady the cleared the starters and we waited an eternity for the mains however the waitress returned asking us what our mains were. She explained that the tickets had gone missing and advised that they hadn’t even started the mains. We were sure this was a sign so we upped and left going to a local restaurant however, just caused the whole experience to be stressful. A shame really! I know this place used to be great but we definitely won’t be returning but I do hope management are reading the most recent reviews and take some action before it is too late!

AVOID!! Attended last Friday night as a meal for my cousin and her fiancé before they got married locally on Saturday. We were a table of 11, including 2 children aged 4 and 10. Table was booked for 7pm and the pub was relatively empty. We arrived promptly and the orders were taken about 7:15. Everyone ordered a starter. Starters came around 8pm except three which had not been put through the til. The other three starts then came out at 8:20. We were told our mains would be prioritised. At 840 we were told our mains had not been started, including the Childrens. At this point we were all starving and the starters hadn’t touched the sides. The food we had was lovely but service was very slow. Managers were apologetic but if that’s how slow they are in a half full restaurant, I expect you would be waiting a week for your main meal. The managers blamed it on the reservations team, however, if a restaurant can expect to cover that amount of people. That can’t be an excuse. Nor were we told there was a wait on food when we ordered. Ended up walking out when they said the mains hadn’t been started. Ridiculous to make anyone wait almost two hours for their main meal let alone two children. Two of the adults were also diabetic. Will not be returning.

If you're a regular business hotel user and familiar with Premier Inn, dont book this one. Go and stay at the Holiday Inn by the train station in town, as this place is dreadful in comparison. The rooms are tired, as in 80s tired, the staff are not bothered about keeping good housekeeping. Oh, and if you want breakfast before you're setting off in the morning, then don't expect anything before 7:15, or as reception happily commented, theyre never ready until 7:30. Dreadful place.
