The place is small but cosy, clean, and inviting. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. The food quality is one of the best I have tried. I loved the Biryani. As an Indian, I can safely vouch for its authenticity as North Indian and Nepali dishes are very similar.

I stumbled upon this place after exploring Edinburgh and it was incredible! The staff was so attentive and so lovely! I was out to dinner by myself (sent up to Edi for work) and I had the best time thanks to the staff and general ambience of the room - couldn't have picked a better restaurant to dine in. I had the Spicy Momo starter and I recommend to anyone to try the momos on offer - they are FANTASTIC! The portion sizes are on the generous side so go there hungry! I also had the Nepalese dhall and coconut rice which was sweeter than expected but paired nicely with the savoury of the dhall as well as 2 poppadoms washed down twith the most refreshing lager I have ever tried - Golden Everest you are my new favourite lager! Thank you to the team at Khukuri for making my first solo dining experience so enjoyable.

Nice place, with plenty of vegan options. Bear in mind, parking in the area is a bit difficult.

I was in a rush to get my food delivered as I was going to miss my train. The front desk staff and manager ensured they sent out my food for delivery as soon as possible. Appreciate it. Everything was good here except we ordered a dish (Khorsani Masala) that was just a lot of spice, which was not well mixed with the curry. Just seemed watery with added chillies.

Food was authentic and flavourful. Excellent customer service 👏 Definitely recommend 👌 to people looking for first class experience.

Sister and I had a FANTASTIC meal. Everything was phenomenal, from the momos to the lamb kathmandu curry; though our favorite had to be the spicy cauliflower starter! Owner/manager made spot-on recommendations, and handled a severe dairy allergy with care and clear communication. Staff are all friendly and attentive. Environment was warm and welcoming. We can't wait to come back!

I have been in this restaurant for few days when I went to Edinburgh for my holidays. I love and enjoy the every food especially chicken momo. Staff are also very kind and friendly as they treat like their family. I would like to recommend this place for delicious food.

I have been in this place for few days as I came this place for holiday. I have found Nepali taste in all dishes. I would like to recommend this place for delicious Nepali and Indian dishes and not forget to taste the chicken momo. Staffs are very kindly and friendly, service is very fast and good. Overall I like the all dishes and staff members as well.

In a country full of smiling faces and warm hearted people this place was a disappointment. My fault was to reach there without reservation, however they preferred to keep the table empty for a bigger group. There were 2 guests who just finished and were leaving however the restaurant made no efforts to arrange something for us. I would recommend Omar Khayyam exactly opposite who made sure they accommodated us even though they were full.

Had to wait a while due to take away section being very busy- however, food excellent, plenty of it and staff very friendly and helpful if you can’t decide what to have.

My wife and I booked here after seeing all the great reviews on TA. It’s not a fancy restaurant, but the service was very good and the food hit the spot. It has a nice twist on the normal Indian fare (it’s Nepalese) which we liked, although I probably ordered the wrong main dish for my liking (my fault). All told though, a nice meal out and not hugely expensive, we’ll go again.

I’ve never seen a place with constantly arriving diners and food delivery people that managed to serve perfect food with perfect service and smiles! I’m so grateful they let me dine as long as I promised to make room by 7:30 for the next reservation! Tip: make a reservation!

We've been to this place before and have always found the quality/taste excellent. They have a good variety of vegetarian dishes and authentic Nepali dishes - different from the Indian dishes we usually have. The momos are a definite must-try and for anyone looking for different curries, the Nepali curry dishes will not disappoint. This restaurant attracts a good crowd, so I'd recommend booking the table to avoid any disappointments.

I am not sure I ever ate nepalese. So let's give this a try. We were 4 people, all with different food habits and we all were satisfied. I had a lentil-jimbu dish which was quite different from my experiences so far. I liked it very much. The service was nice and patient. We asked quite a lot. So thanks for this evening.

Friends took us to the restaurant before the recent six nations rugby and what a treat it turned out to be. Not sure we’ve ever been to this style of Indian before but wow, it was fantastic. Probably the best curry I’ve ever eaten to be honest. Would love to go back when they have their full menu own. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Edinburgh.

Went with three friends on a cold Wednesday night. I’d eaten here a few times over the years and had always been impressed but this was a different level. Really fresh, zingy, tasty food. Starters of pani puri (sensational. So many different flavours complimenting each other), spiced cauliflower (I missed the name) and samosa chaat were sublime. The Pana puri and samosa chaat in particular - the latter really made the samosas come alive with the sauce over them. For mains: the lamb hariyali was perfectly spiced whilst I was really jealous of my friend’s king prawn chilli garlic number - superb. I ordered a potato and cucumber pickle to go alongside. I really enjoyed the flavours of that. Will be back. Really, really good. I wanted to try the momos but they took half an hour and we were hungry!

Great Nepalese restaurant Glad we had booked as there was a queue waiting to get in and the restaurant already had a full sitting. Highlights were the vegetable pakoras, the Nepalese special curries and the naan bread. Very friendly staff, service good considering the place was packed. If you are in the Haymarket area definitely worth a visit.

Took my wife there for a birthday treat. A s it was our 2nd visit we had an idea what to expect. Boy we weren’t disappointed. Even although it was quite busy we were welcomed in and shown to our table. Our order was taken by a friendly waiter who had a good knowledge of the menu. The food arrived within a reasonable time considering how busy it was. The food as like our last visit, excellent, one small gripe the rice wasn’t as hot as I would have like, but still lovely. A pet hate of mine is cold plates, that wasn’t the case here, well done. Is it worth a visit, without a doubt it is, we certainly will. G.

My third visit to Khukuri and still excellent food. The service was excellent and the food delivered speedily. The sides (whilst not essential for main food portions sizes) are well worth adding to complement.

The best curry house in Edinburgh - such delicious food from the starters through to the desserts. Vegan options are marked and all delicious. The space itself is super lovely, staff are very efficient and attentive, and the food is good value for money!! Will be coming here for ad long as it’s open!

Really nice place! We liked the food, though it was a bit spicy for our taste. To be fair, we don't do spicy food often so we are pretty sensitive, but even the "non-spicy" food we ordered had a bit of a kick for us. Even then, the food was really nice. The momos were probably my favorite, and appreciated how they were available cooked in different ways. A bit of a wait for them; might be good to at least pre-make a quantity in advance, judging by their popularity. We found it a bit weird that we were asked multiple times if we wanted drinks (we had travelled that day so just wanted water). I think the server that asked us so many times must make some sort of bonus off of them.

They are still doing excellent food after all these years - top notch dishes every single time, whether dining in or takeaway. The interior of the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired, so bear that in mind, but rest assured of a good meal.

Absolutely incredible food and service. We ordered vegetable pakoras and chilli chicken momos to start, wonderful, never eaten anything like it, we also ordered a vegetable Everest curry and khorsani Masala chicken, described as extremely hot, the waitress confirmed this at the time of ordering and said it would numb your taste buds, my husband said she was right, it was all absolutely delicious, beautiful light pilau rice was a meal in itself and a hot buttery peshwari naan was out of this world. Apart from the truly wonderful food the all female waitresses were an olympic team of well organised women who gave such attention to detail, they presented the food to the table, like a slow dance move with a roll of their wrist, it sounds weird but it was very subtle probably I was the only one that noticed, I also witnessed one waitress quickly clean under a table with a small mop, again sounds a bit off putting but when you go it’s all part of the care. The restaurant was absolutely packed and hosted a mixture of tourists and locals. At the moment with money being tight eating out is a luxury if you only go to one restaurant this year, pick this one. Thank You for beautifully cooked food and first class service. I can’t wait to rebook.

Honestly one of the best places to order from in Edinburgh. The Momo in particular are incredible. Staff are always super friendly and pleasant too. I've eaten here dozens of times over the years and consistently great quality whether eating in or taking away.

I recently enjoyed an exceptional dining experience at a Nepalese restaurant in Edinburgh. The Momos and Panipuri were standout dishes, offering authentic flavors that transported me to Nepal. Beyond the food, the staff's amazing behavior and warm hospitality made the visit truly memorable. Highly recommend for an authentic taste of Nepal in Edinburgh.

We stumbled upon this place by chance, in our last night in Edinburgh and I am grateful to have tasted their dishes. So flavorful and prepared just like back at home. For anybody wanting to try Indian in Edinburgh, I would strongly recommend this place over others - as you can try both Indian and Nepalese cuisines here. Two is better than one, innit!!

I got take-out there yesterday and the food was amazing, tasted very authentic and complex. I can highly recommend the Namche and Piro Piro curries , as well as the vegetable Momos. The sauce that came with the Momos had a very fine taste, as well. Also service was very friendly. I was given a heads up that one of the dishes I had ordered would take 25 minutes to prepare before I definitely decided and was invited to sit down. I can warmly recommend this place.

Went in for a work Christmas lunch, didn't quite know what to expect - but one of the best places I've been in a while! Decor is quite understated, but the staff are fantastic and the food was incredible! Will definitely be back!

Arriving in the city quite late, we chanced on Khukuri without a booking and were recommended by a diner on his way out. It was a real find - interesting menu with dishes we hadn’t tried before, beautifully-presented food, actually the best Indian-Nepalese meal I think I have ever had. Team was friendly and attentive, the bill was a pleasant surprise - really good value. We will definitely be back..

As a Nepali I vouch for this place and food. Was expecting just another Indian influenced restaurant BUT was amazed by the Nepali soul food that they provide. This is as Nepalese as it gets. Visited Edinburgh for vacation will be back again just for the food.

I've wanted to come here since I ran ...staggered.... past it on the Edinburgh Marathon decades ago, as I love Nepal. OK, it won't trouble Michelin but t's far beyond acceptable, welcoming, lovely staff, interesting well-explained food, good value.

Got take out delivered from here and it was pretty delicious. Was very excited to try out the dumplings, but it was actually the curries that were the stars. Coconut rice was very good too. Handily it's Halal food too!

Terrible experience. I had been many times before and it was very good. This time very poor. Food bland and lukewarm. No red wine so bought it from a takeaway across the road and added 300% to the cost. Total robbery. Manager polite but clueless

Khukuri restaurant was a sweet surprise. We are in Edinburgh for our honeymoon and we chose Khukuri to celebrate 🥂. We were very welcomed by sweet Kanchan, who was super friendly with us. Her service was absolutely stunning. The food tasted like paradise, like a little trip from Edinburgh to Nepal. The best Thali we have ever had!! We came for the momo (one of our favourite dishes from our trips to Nepal over the years) but enjoyed everything else on the menu too! Thrilled to have discovered this spot. It had been recommended by a friend, and we're glad we found it. Fab service, wine etc, and one could tell by how busy the spot was, that it was well-loved by a lot of people!

This is a lovely resturant for a curry nice atmosphere. The food is amazing. Staff really nice. We were kept waiting to be seated but because of this the staff gave us complimentary starters for the inconvenience, which none of us expected and they were very apologetic. Would highly recommend if visiting Edinburgh.
