Has to be the most disappointing meal I have ever had there. Used to be good food at great value, maybe I just got a bad day? Poor quality food, with a lasagne that was tiny and looked like it had been unceremoniously dropped on the plate, a side salad that was about 2 desert spoons of lettuce, 1/2 tomato and 1 slice of cucumber! A shame as I frequently recommend this pub, I may have to have a re think now. 😞

We had four lunches.I had haddock and chips, twelve to be precise, so few that I counted them. A very small piece of fish, Not worth £15.50. My wife had burger and chips. The burger was very dry, not helped by a dry bun with nothing on it. My son had the warm duck salad, which was fine apart from the skin which was not crispy and therefore not edible. My daughter - in -law had a portion of chips which were excellent. We come here quite often as the staff are very nice, and the chips are the best, and we usually get enough food, but today, my sons birthday, was disappointing with three out of four of us Dissatisfied with our meals.

Arrived before the start of dinner ,so had to wait 45 minutes to actuallly order. Garden was ok, sat and had a couple of soft drinks. Finallly ordered the "Chicken Burger" Absolutly not good. Chicken over cooked small strips of breaded chicked ,probably from Aldi. Chips overcooked and sparse 12.50 each. Way over priced for what you get. Definatly a locals kinda place. Maybe ok for a beer with friends since there wer epacks of loud foul mouth blokes drinking. Too bad, with family and could have done without the background swearing and leering. The staff were somewhat friendly, but food was noot good.

Tucked out of the way, this is an amazing find. We went with friends for Sunday lunch. 2 had the roast chicken both said it was moist and 2 of us had the beef, myself included. The beef was excelent and no too thinly sliced as in most places. My knife went through it like butter and the roast potatoes were crunchy and fluffy inside. The amount of food was more than enough the ladys couldn't finish theirs. So good I have just booked again for 12th November. Looking forward to another great meal.

Only recently got around to visiting this place having lived in the area for a while. i wish we had discovered it earlier. Lovely spacious garden - but more importantly clean and tidy! Lunch menu was extensive and the food was good - the best onion rings I have tasted. Staff very friendly and attentive. The only negatives in the interest of offering advice would be that it was necessary to buy 2 small bottles of orange juice to have the equivalent of a glass of orange. Also, that the desserts at £7.25 seem a bit steep so we declined. Otherwise, a very nice lunch.

Delightful sitting in the sun in the very pleasant garden staring at the vast horizon - so peaceful. Staff here are lovely, friendly, warm and very efficient. Mid-week lunch and the place was packed which says a lot. Food here is pretty typical, but well-cooked and presented and reasonably priced. The Kentish Horse is a really nice venue and we will certainly return.

I love this countryside pub , staff & management are generally friendly, seems like a great bunch of locals … but, it’s a shame the food on the last couple of visits come in a little disappointing- no roast dinner for us on Sunday, as one is advised ( after the event) to preorder this in advance- second choices were just okay. I will go back, but perhaps they would do better to stick to roast only on Sundays - and younger waiting staff could only improve their customer relationship skills- this is harsh, but this is my genuine feeling.

This was a throughly disappointing experience from an establishment that has previously delivered good quality roast dinners pre pandemic. We visited the Kentish Horse last Sunday and were cognisant upon arrival that it was extremely busy. Two of us had roast dinners (one beef, one chicken). Upon arrival, the beef was very rare to the extent that we both felt it could have walked off the plate at a moments notice. It was promptly sent back, though unsure why the waiter did not ask beforehand I would like it cooked? Another waiter was very apologetic, citing how busy the restaurant was and that would be dealt with promptly. The beef retuned and it was cooked to an acceptable standard (never have sent back a roast from here before). Unfortunately, the quality all round for both roasts was not up to the standards delivered pre-pandemic. Has the previous chef left as this was catering standard? The gravy was like water, no flavour. The broccoli was significantly undercooked, roasts barely crunchy and not soft in the middle, stuffing inedible, Yorkshire’s catering standard, chicken no flavour. I have had roasts at other establishments charging similar prices (£14.50 here) and this one is not worthy of being in that price bracket. It really was poor and I feel that the staff knew that it wasn’t good enough. The Kentish Horse is the first name I think of to visit for a roast in the area, though if this is standard to expect, sadly won’t be returning.

Good pub food and prices but pity that mask culture that is no longer required, but remains recommended, had been abandoned. While it is reported that face masks are no longer a legal requirement, many venues are likely to encourage them in some capacity, and the Government is keen that they doThere's a reason for that !!!

Not eaten here for many years although visited for drinks, but decided to eat here on Saturday night. It was very busy due to a prebooked function, but service was not too distrupted. Pleasant evening menu to suit mosts tastes, although two items were not available at 7.15pm but I think that was due to the prebooked function having also pre booked their food. This did not detract from the choice made, which was a lovely well presented and tasty chicken supreme, with fresh vegetables. Can certainly recommend that dish! Desert menu had too many "nice" options but decided on treacle tart with ice cream and a fruit crumble with custard, both very nice and decent servings. The lunch time menu also looks to have some pleasant and numerous choices and in summer weather (we can only hope), it would be nice to sit out in the garden. Would have no hesitation on recommending.

From very first contact everyone at the Kentish Horse was polite and helpful. I called ahead a few days before to book a table for a group of us including a toddler - I was politely asked if I required a high chair but when I said he would probably prefer a chair at the table they provided a very sturdy chair which was perfect height for him to reach the table and eat his lunch. There was a very extensive menu on offer which allowed everyone to individually choose what they wanted depending on how hungry they were. We sampled several ploughmans, sausage, mashed potato and peas, mushroom tagliatelle, mushrooms and bacon on toast, cheese and tomato sandwich and a children's sausage, chips and peas. All the cooked meals had options such as mashed potato/chips, peas/baked beans/sweetcorn. All the food arrived at the same time and the portion sizes were very generous. The ploughmans and bacon and mushroom on toast came with delicious salad. The service throughout our stay was excellent and everyone could not have been anymore attentive. The garden is a sheer delight for children with safe, well kept equipment for them to play on whilst the adults enjoy the panoramic views of the Kent countryside. There were several local ales on the pumps which were well kept and tasty. When the rain unfortunately stopped our time in the garden we returned inside and a box of toys were brought out for the toddler to play with - this has never happened ever and was such a lovely gesture. This also meant the adults could stay and enjoy another drink without having to rush off because of a bored toddler.I would highly recommend this place as not only was the price of meals and drinks very good but there was exemplary service throughout our whole time and we all agreed the place was amazing. I very much look forward to returning here and although it is not local to myself it is well worth the drive. Thank you all for an amazing afternoon and keep up the excellent work!

It's so rare that pubs get everything so right, that I felt compelled to write a review.Gorgeous pub, great location, plenty for the kids to do outside (we had 6 children with us, ranging from 4 to 10), incredible food and attentive and helpful staff. They were so accommodating, we will absolutely be returning again and again. It's one of those places that it's SO good, you almost don't want to tell anybody else about it!

We were staying in a cottage nearby for 10 days and had lunch at The Kentish Horse most days. It is a really lovely pub. The large garden has beautiful views over the hills and trees. The food is very good indeed - fantastic chips! Extremely friendly staff. We love it.

Always a cheerful welcome and attentive service. Great food, always served hot and freshly cooked. We visited for a family birthday lunch and made to feel most welcome on arrival, we have one of our grandchildren who is dairy intolerant and we struggle for a dessert, they can normally offer a sorbet but on this occasion not available and offered a variety of fresh fruits. Can honestly say don't think we have ever had such a great service any where else.

I visited for a meal after walking with a group of nine people. I had the quiche lorraine with salad and chips. The quiche was beautiful with excellent pastry - no soggy bottom here! The salad and coleslaw were equally good and very fresh. The chips were fluffy and crisp. Price-wise it was very good value and I would thoroughly recommend this pub for its food and also for the friendly service. I will definitely be back!

We visited after lunch and before dinner service, but the manager overheard that we were hungry and didn't really want to wait so he gave us the option of some quick to prepare foods that we could have and ensured that we went on our full happy and full.

Friendly staff, however poor menu and standard of food. I get the impression that the food is not freshly cooked, simply been heated up. Lovely beer garden however.

We were a group of fifteen friends who visit various pubs in Surrey, Sussex and Kent for lunch and a natter. The Kentish Horse is one of the best we've found. The quality of the food and the extremely attractive pricing coupled with the very efficient and friendly staff made this a perfect lunch venue. We look forward to visiting it again in the not to distant future.

We were on a short break, and were so impressed with the wonderful food and friendly, efficient service that we returned for a meal the next day. The bar was busy, but a staff member was happy to show us to a table. She was knowledgable about the beers and even brought us a sample of one we were unfamiliar with. Once our order was taken she was off duty but left us in the capable hands of a young waitress. Delicious food in a lovely old pub with a wood burning stove on a cold Kent evening - great.

The KH is the epitome of a country pub. Its clientele is a mixture of sturdy locals, interesting dogs, drivers and walkers. The interior is always busy and energetic. Good beer decent coffee and good food. Perfectly lovely.

The pub is beautiful. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the Sunday roast was a disappointment after being recommended. Roast potatoes were so hard like golf balls the Yorkshires were the same ... Chicken portion is tiny considering how much it costs. Pudding for one of us had to be sent back. Won't be returning sorry.

No dogs allowed. Very strange vibe. I ordered apple pie and tea, after a walk. Possibly my worst dessert ever, definitely one of them at least. Avoid food there would be my suggestion. Maybe nice for a drink though.

Ordered a mac & cheese to be delivered. They accepted the order then sent a panini with virtually no filling and a not saying no mac & cheese and charged £11 for it. Totally disgusting.
