The Jones Family Affair in City of London, Westminster

Excellenrt steak - really good foor - but unfortunately had to close last month - October 2022. I spoke with the manager and he said they just didn't get the footfall required to continue. But all is not lost - the other sister restaurant is open in Belgravia and is well worth a visit.

What a gem of a restaurant! We found it by chance as we were walking by. Fabulous meal, polite and attentive staff. Extensive wine list and excellent value for money. Great to support an independent who promotes British produce. Simply outstanding, we will be back on our next London trip.

Great food and very friendly staff in a lovely presented restaurant. If you’re around Trafalgar Square / Covent Garden I’d highly recommend a visit. We had a Groupon but would have happily paid full price. This is NOT a chain and therefore is probably not well known but you won’t be disappointed.

We had a lovely lunch in this very well presented restaurant. We were greeted warmly and the staff remained attentive throughout our visit. The food was excellent and the whole experience was further improved by the fact that it is located in such a central position for sightseeing, with Covent Garden, Leicester Square (Theatre land), Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Palace of Westminster and Big Ben all within walking distance. We are already planning a return visit with friends.

We had the pre theatre menu at this restaurant through a Time Out offer. I had not heard of the place before so was a little unsure of what to expect. I was pleased to find out that it was a restaurant with great character, lovely food and very helpful waiting staff. I went with my elderly mother who is not very mobile and they couldn't have been more charming. Will definitely visit again.

Arrived early afternoon to be greeted by name by Kevin who offered us a choice of tables . The whole place was full of character and we felt very relaxed from the first moment . We ordered the Squid starter which was delicious and fresh. The main meal was a shared 500gm Steak cut into slices accompanied with Fries..Grilled cauliflower withSoya Sauce and various salad bowls cooked to perfection and tasty we both chose Medium but if you had 2 various cooked style I am sure they could cater all accompanied by a bottle of Rioja Rosado Sierra Canta… Finished with a sweet of Pear Pie n ice cream and another of Sorbet Meal Fresh..delicious and full of flavour …Ambiance perfect ..staff courteous and attentive and a very average cost ..a memory created on our Golden Anniversary..

What a wonderful family meal we had at this restaurant. We had booked a table for a pre-theatre meal. It ticked all the boxes for us and was a first-class experience. We had three generations in our family and the atmosphere, quality, and variety of cuisine was amazing - particular favourites were the duck salad and the steaks. The excellent service from the staff, in particular Oliver, was most impressive!

There are staff problems which they are sadly unable to hide. In fact they didn't even try to. Junior waiting staff being told off in front of guests and generally sloppy levels of service. Drinks take an age to arrive. Opted for the Onglet steak from set menu which was very chewy. Not well cooked. And salt rubbed into th wound by applying an automatic service charge to the bill. Just not great really."

I had lunch with some friends at The Jones Family Affair near Trafalgar Square. The food was delicious, service friendly and staff were knowledgeable about the dishes. I really commend this restaurant.

We went to this lovely new restaurant for a family dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and helped make it a special occasion. We all really enjoyed our food and the steak mains were excellent. Will be back!

We called in here before we made our way to the Prince of Wales Theatre. We saw a sign outside which offered a 2 or 3 course pre-theatre set menu which we thought we would try. We hadn't booked but this was not an issue as the place was nearly empty. We were given a table in the corner and the seats were perfect as was the whole ambience. Olga gave us a menu each and walked away. When we looked at the menu there was no pre-theatre set menu showing so we had to ask about that. We were given a small menu each which basically gave you a choice of 3 Starters, 3 Mains and 3 desserts. We opted for the 2 courses and we both had the Chicken pate starter followed by Steak & Chips and my wife had the Sea Bass with chick peas. Both starters were really lovely and soon vanished. Our mains were not as good as portion control on the Steak was minimalistic to say the least. Now ok I wasn't expecting a steak 12" in diameter, one inch thick with fries but Oh My God the steak was miniscule. Now imagine as your main a steak which arrives perfectly cooked which is 4" long and 1" thick and 1" wide and you will see my predicament. I had asked for my steak well done and it arrived perfectly cooked and the finger of steak had been cut into smaller sections but it basically looked like a one inch square sausage on your plate!!!! Anyway as I mentioned the finger of steak I had was cooked to perfection. My wife's Sea Bass she loved but she didn't like the chick peas and left them all. I wish now we had opted to have just a main off the daily menu instead of the Set Pre-Theatre Menu as it is a poor menu. The staff were excellent and very efficient and the restaurant is in a lovely setting and looks lovely inside. Toilets are upstairs although there are no toilet signs on display and you have to ask the staff were they are located.

Just had the most wonderful pre theatre meal here. Set menu included delicious Onglet steak beautifully cooked with chimichurri side sauce plus side dish of crispy thin courgettes. All amazing, a real find will be returning.

First time at this venue and what a wonderful experience ! Pleasant surroundings, great staff and amazing food , a certain must , the meat was delicious.

We were having a sightseeing day in London and came across this delightful restaurant just round the corner from Trafalgar Square. It’s not very imposing from the outside but as soon as you go in you will be impressed by the bright decor and welcoming staff. Go through to the back where there are large comfortable seats and a mezzanine floor with a bar area. There is a good choice of food available at reasonable prices. I would highly recommend the steaks cooked to perfection. This is somewhere I would definitely take friends and family again. There is great music playing in the background ie. Frank Sinatra, Charles Aznavour, Dean Martin! We had lunch here but I would imagine it really comes to life at night, there is a real buzz about the place.

We had a range of starters and also 2 cuts of steak and a variety of the side dishes, all were nicely cooked and presented well but EVERYTHING was so bland, no seasoning, flavor and the steak sauces were very weird, a peppercorn sauce that tastes like watery dark molasses sugar, no thanks. The table next to us also said the exact same thing at the end of their meal. Such a shame. Service was ok, abit cold and forced, drinks were nicely made and a nice selection. Overall not value for money, there are a lot of much better steak restaurants in London to visit.

I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. It was clean, friendly and the pre theatre menu, though small, was delicious! Ideal location for The London Coliseum! Would definitely visit again.

Excellent steak restaurant, best steak I've ever had, melt in the mouth. My only complaint, if you could call it that, is the steaks were too big There should be an option on the menu for a much smaller steak.
