Told didnt need to book for table of 10 , said come in and there will be availability, turn up to no tables , no food. Avoid trying to eat here. Very bad customer service.

Friendly pub, now has new manager and has improved greatly. now starting meals between Wednesday and Sunday. Still a friendly pub 01/07/2020. Had an Angus beefburger with trimmings tonight, was very good ..Still a good pub .... 02/09/2022. Now no catering but will open shortly ....12/12/2022 Now a Hungry Horse franchise as well. Friendly staff, great crowd of locals, and good choice of beer at a reasonable price. Also the new catering company doing food make some brilliant burgers and wings, would highly recommend!

No food was served as the people doing the catering had left, although they have other caterers coming in the near future. The outside area is not as clean as it should be as there was a lot of cigarette ends on the floor and the bins were not emptied.

Not changed still a friendly pub got to be a one off you don't find pubs like this on every street

Have been going over for an evening meal for last few Fridays. Jackie and Jo are doing a brillant job since they took over the kitchen. The pizza is lovely and I can really recommend the chilli. The home made curries are really tasty. We have tried the Sunday roast and we're definitely going back.

Absolutely disgusting bar service, served half a pint of froth by a very inexperienced member of staff Ross ,when asked if he could top it up was told that he wouldn’t serve me anymore, such a shame as other staff ok but as he is a member of the family it has gone to his head

Full of pure dole dodgers. It was more enjoyable at my mums funeral. Even the leads peeling itself off the roofs in the threat of being stolen. Staff the best part. Very pleasant. XOXO Shanini

Popped in for a quick bite to eat last week. Large enough pub with plenty of places to sit. Staff were friendly as were the locals. Had chips and scampi in a basket with our drinks. Worth a look.

Poster saying 2 classic pub meals for £12,charged£20,when challenged poster was said to be out of date,meals arrived and both were not big enough for a 10 year old,no covid regulations being adhered to inside by most and ate dinner in the company of foul languaged locals. Not an experiance I will be repeating

Dreadful experience tonight. Walked in and asked is there were any available tables to eat. Was told just find an empty one, and food was being served until 730pm, ie another 15 mins. Only available table had dirty glasses on it. No menu offered and no table service offered. No information taken for T&T. People were queuing at the bar for service! Didn't feel safe so left!!

It has been some time since I visited due to the coronavirus however the meals we did have were very lovely and nice, the staff are friendly and helpful but due to the Welsh government restrictions not been for some time

Bog standard pub grab, steak was fine, burger and chicken goujons fine, wife ordered the curry which should have come with poppadoms, it didn't so i had to go back to the bar to ask and was told they were out, fair enough but would have been nice to be told upon ordering rather than after being delivered. Clearly knew we were holiday makers and didn't care!

The landlord had things well organised through testing time, very relaxed and enjoyable, staff were very nice

Friendly atmosphere great place

6 of us went to have lunch on Friday. Could not book a table as no phone number on site. When we arrived we were told they didn't serve meals till 2.00. This is the third time we have tried to visit. Lat year we went to be told the chef hadn't turned up, the next time we went there was no food as they were waiting for the fridge and freezer to come. Don't waste your time.

New manager has recently taken over and the atmosphere is fantastic. Great food, beer and company daily. The homemade Sunday roasts are to die for and highly recommended. Definitely worth a visit 😁

Called in for quick drink ended up having tea food was excellent and staff made us feel very welcome

Went for a drink with friends last night, the new relief manager John was so welcoming and the karaoke ran really smoothly. Went back in today and couldnt believe how clean the place was especially the toilets and the outside area, no fag ends anywhere!! Let’s hope it stays this way!!

Well.... where to star on this eye opening experience. i was on holiday with my family and decieved to visit for a evening meal. There was 4 adults and a 1 year old with us. From the very start i didnt go well. We asked to place and order for food and drinks. Never ha ve i had to order my food with one person and then drinks with another but only one could stand at the bar at any one time. Anyways we carried on and placed the order. About 25-30 minutes later the first meal arrived - fish and chips, it should of been mushy peas but we looked past that. Another 20 minutes went by and the second meal came out, this being a second lot of fish and chips but missing a few items. Thinking they would come in a minute they didnt. Spoke to the ladie on the bar and was told it was on its way. Another 15 minutes went by and the chips meal arrived, by then my father had finished his and we still had another meal waiting. After an hour i went to the bar to ask where my burger was, to my surpise i was told "I give you it, youves already had it" When i asked "Where did you take it too" th answer was a completly different table where there was no one. This argument went back and forth for a while. I then asked to see the manger, to be told everyone is the manger. I asked to see the manager again to which they couldnt get hold of her as she only works 1 hour a day. Requested for a refund as by now almost 2 hours had went by, i was waiting for my burger, my wife for the rest of her lunch and my mothers chesse toatie also never arrived. When it came to ask for a refund i was told well i cant refund you for any food that been processed as they will lose out. Nothing about the customers expiernace at all. I did ask if I could have the managers mobile number, I was given just a random number for a recruitment agency that had no dealing s with the pub. It was at this point we left to get food from somewhere else. Just to mention too we were thr ONLY group in the whole pub!!!. Later that evenong i decieved to facebook the pub telling them the issues hopeing some form of management would reply. All i got in return was a load of lies how we upset the memeber of staff ect. Not once did we get an appology or the phone callback i was promised.

The cooking of the food was really poor. Actual food was typically expected frozen pub food. Unfortunately the cook was hopefully inexperienced, considering the quality of the cooking. Just one example, my 'sizzler' was on a luke warm skillet with almost raw onions..... Burger was only just cooked, and medium rare steak was well done. We won't be returning which us a shame as is a convenient location for us 😔

Guinness worst I’ve ever tasted , didn’t dare eat here , sat in “ beer garden “ as advertised but it’s the co op car park lol Won’t return , don’t allow dogs either which is amazing seeing the general appearance of the place

If I could give a rating of 0 I would. 4 adults and 3 children (ages 3, 6and 7) After trying to keep the kids entertained for an hour and 20 mins while we waited for our food, it turned up - what a disappointment. We were also the only people in there ordering food - 1hr 20mins is not acceptable for what is advertised as quick pub food. Every meal was borderline warm, all the side salads were dry and not fresh and the chips were barely done. The mega burger was inedible. The scampi and chips contained 5 small pieces of scampi. The kids meals had been left on the side and had begun to dry out. Please do not be fooled into reading all the great reviews this place has as they are most likely done by locals in return for a free pint.... This is the worst meal any of us have ever had and when we complained to the bar staff (this is the first time I have ever complained about a meal) she put up no argument/defence, we said that we were not happy paying for our food to which the barstaff suggested refusing to pay which we did (we did however pay for our drinks). To top things off we now have 3 children and 2 adults who have been sick (as a direct result of eating here) and spent the rest of the evening hugging the toilet. Please avoid this pub at all costs...

After an hour and I half of waiting we received what I can only describe as the aftermath of a nuclear bomb delivered to us on plates. I got the chicken and beef burger which the chicken was so hard I was waiting for it to hit me and the beef was dryer than ghandi,s flip flop. My wife got the cremated chicken along with my sister's boyfriend which was just awful. My sister's scampi was so undercooked I'm surprised it didn't wriggle off her plate. My daughter's beans looked like they had been picked off the floor before serving and I could have played snooker with my son's chicken ball's. Definitely would not recommend 🤮

Not impressed to be honest .sorry but you need to up your standards you bring the meals to the table then state that you don't have the stated accompaniment too late to choose something else hi5 for barmaid who couldnt apologise enough

Went in with my daughter for lunch yesterday. Food was lovely (I had the £6.95 sirloin steak on the Tuesday special). My daughter’s burger looked lovely! Both very, very tasty. It’s rare(pardon the pun) to get a steak exactly as you’ve ordered it these days but this was beautiful! I believe the burger was really nice too-no complaints anyway! Place seemed very clean. Friendly service. Toilets were scrupulous! Very enjoyable.

What came was a large but basic lunch. More greasy spoon than pub I’m afraid. Long wait from order to service and the food doesn’t come out together. 1 really helpful hard working bar person but the rest seem happier on their phones or sat on other side of bar. Sorry wouldn’t return which is a shame as it’s handy when we are in the area.

Visited the jolly sailor for a drink but decided to have a meal as well, we both had a burger and a pint for £8 , The place was very nice and the new landlady couldn't do enough for you, will definitely go back qa

Have been to this local pub quite a few times as it is local to me, nicely decorated the food menu is varied accomadating all tastes, good value for money drinks are reasonably priced . Different offers available for various nights good place to eat.

Landlady not friendly if she ever deigns to make an appearance, other staff friendly only serve food when she wants dirty toilets and floors I've been going here for years and never had a complaint until now nearly all of the regular customers have left going down hill fast bring back Wendy

The pub is clean and tidy, with a good variety of ales. There is a pool table and a dartboard for customers to enjoy. The pub lacks atmosphere and a welcoming feel

I’m a regular and come in most days. The place has gone down hill and is disgusting. The toilets aren’t cleaned. The carpets haven’t been hoovered in months and the floor has sticky spilt beer all over them - again no cleaning being done. Food is hit and miss, no set times, people coming in for food to be told not serving. The beer is over priced for its location and the staff spend more time on the fruit machines or watching tv than interested in customer service. This used to be a community pub but not anymore.

Had a meal here and that was quite good. Service good and prices were ok.

I went for lunch with my parents and husband and found the atmosphere to be friendly and welcoming. The choice of food was good. We chose from the 2 meals for £12. We had eggs, ham and chips, scampi, chips and peas and a vegetarian cottage pie with chips. The food was piping hot and tasty. Recommended for a quick pub lunch.

Wasn't all that jolly when I visited in fact it was miserable and nobody in.

Just had the best night for ages. Initially only went out for tea and a chat and ended up winning the quiz. The food was great, staff friendly and efficient and the whole night was a great success. Definitely going back next week. 👌

A sunken treasure to be sure this one! Davey Jones himself would be proud to call this his local pub. Serves the best grog in town and I can't forget the food that does a good job filling weary sailors. We shall be singing shanties of this place for weeks to come.

Fantastic welcoming atmosphere, good food and beer - when I see the sign for the Jolly Sailor I know I'm home.

My day was "garbage"... until I entered this place. I thought jolly was just in the name until I met the local staff and entourage. Before long my day had sailed from "garbage" to "carnage" all thanks to the jolly sailor. Best wishes.

We came her last year on our annual holiday, and went back this year, the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. In the end we ate at the pub 4 nights out of 7 and on the curry night (Thursday) I enjoyed it so much they let me buy one to take with me so I could cook it at home. Their prices are so good, food so tasty and friendly staff see you again in 2018.
