Food is always excellent! Never waited long, always comes together regardless how large our party is and the quality is second to none! Been going here for years whilst visiting family - Never had a bad meal/experience! Park is great for the children and crabbing off the nearby jetty. It’s our first choice for a meal when in Pembrokeshire!

We went for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was homely and the portions were very generous. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very attentive. Dog friendly however this was for the bar area, the restaurant area are no dogs which was a shame as we missed out on the view. Overall we had a very nice dinner.

Very disappointed! I ordered a chicken salad, what I had was a small piece of dry chicken, a little bit of lettuce, one quarter of a tomato, and a whole pile of overcooked carrots and peas! Even the chips were overcooked and had a burnt taste to them. The staff were excellent.

We were on holiday from England, 7 adults , 2 toddlers and a baby. We’ve been visiting Wales for a number of years but just discovered the Jolly Sailor this year. The views were lovely but more importantly the food was fantastic and the staff were so polite and helpful. We had the best steaks of our holiday and the veggie options were good too. It seemed such a friendly place with a lot of locals eating there, so highly endorsed. We enjoyed the meal so much we booked again for later in the week. The only negative we felt was that the toilets needed improvement. The Jolly Sailor has great views, great food and great staff. Go here and eat here.

I came here with my family to celebrate my 60th Birthday, It was on a Sunday so the special board had a large choice of Sunday Roasts with small or large plates , you could also order off the main menu which was handy for the grandchildren who didn't want a roast. The food was excellent, the lamb was the nicest I've ever tasted. The service was excellent + the food all came out at the same time , there was 8 of us. I would definitely recommend coming here + can't wait to return.

Whilst the view, food and table service was great, what let us down was the manager (or main barman) asking if I was paying for the meals when I went to order another drink at 3.10 pm (we'd put it on a tab). I said my friend and I were discussing whose turn it was to pay. He replied "As long as you pay by 5 pm". I asked was it because they closed then and he replied "No, we need the table for the evening". Just thought this was very rude. It wasn't as if it was full and they needed the table, or that they were closing as 3 other tables were full.

First visited here around 30 years ago and glad to see that it's still going strong. Wanted a lunch with a view and seeing as it was so hot that day there was only one place to go. The water was so blue when we crossed the bridge and the ferry was getting ready to sail as we were eating. Plenty of choice including lite bites, generous portions and pretty quick service. Excellent friendly staff. We hadn't booked so there was plenty of room mainly inside but with a view. Very reasonable.

After discussing with staff a day previously about booking tables for 17 people wanting drinks and a meal we traveled over to the jolly sailor and was made to feel very unwelcome by I’m assuming the manager who said he can’t accommodate 17 meals. The tables outside are first come first serve ,which we was aware of so we was there early waiting , we only needed 1 more table and he said we can’t have it. We are a local family and have heard bad press about the jolly sailor but disagreed with it as we usually like it. We will never set foot there again. A ruined 21st birthday for my boy.

This is just the kind of place and food we like, and we enjoyed the best meal we've had in ages. I had the steak, which was cooked precisely to my liking, while my mum had a jacket potato with chicken curry and my dad had the beef madras. The chips in particular were delicious! The portions were huge but we had to have puddings and they were lovely too. The view over the water was glorious. But the thing that makes it for us is the service. Start of August, packed pubs everywhere so we were lucky to get a table for dinner at the Jolly sailor, albeit in the marquee set up in the garden. We had to wait a while to be seated, but once at our table, the waiters were on the ball. The food was good value for money. I enjoyed the Prawn Cocktail, and battered cod with peas and salad (as I don't eat chips). My partner and I shared the Lemon Curd Sundae which was really tasty, and massive. Overall the food was excellent value for money. The pub had a good system of waiting staff sorting drinks, whilst others dealt with the meals so the wait wasn't too long. The pub is sat right on the riverside in a lovely location although the view of the bridge does spoil the otherwise lovely scenery. It's a large spacious pub garden, and I would like to visit again when the covid restrictions have been lifted.

Met up with an old friend today and went for lunch (without pre-booking) at The Jolly Sailor. Great view over the river and ferry port. We were met at the door and asked "inside or outside" normally in July we would do outside but the weather wasn't great so opted for inside. They showed us to our table and asked about drinks, The soda, water and beer were delivered promptly and orders taken for food, a good system! The beer was not right and after asking the waiter to change it to another type he explained they had trouble with the pipes (dirty I suspect) and changed it for a bottle variant.Food arrived, hot and ready to scoff. Pretty standard pup fare, neither good nor bad just a bit middling. Puds were all the frozen type, sticky toffee pudding etc.. but were very edible. The service was good and friendly though the furnishings could do with an update, it all felt a little 1980's to be honest, I wouldn't have been surprised to see chicken and chips in the basket on the menu. All in all it was a decent lunch and we enjoyed ourselves but they really could do with an update to bring t a bit more up to date. It is neither quaint or old just dated.

It took staff 30 minutes to clear ours plates, at this point the restaurant was quiet. Staff just cleaned and ignored us, eventually our plates were cleared, no one asked us if we would like pudding, again Staff cleaned around us and ignored us, eventually we asked Staff to come over so we could order desserts. When booked I was told the restaurant was full but the marquee was available so with the weather looking great I thought that sounded fine and confirmed my booking . We arrived and where shown to the marquee which over looked the beautiful waterway .Once in the marquee year heart sank as it was full of picnic tables . With two elderly in-laws with us this was a disappointing as it wouldn’t be the comfortable Sunday lunch I had planned for them to enjoy with us . I was also not told about this when I booked or I would never have chosen this venue. We ordered our Sunday Lunch which was ok but by then no one was comfortable and the enjoyment had gone . We ate what we could and paid then left with no desert as we had enough of the picnic bench .

We felt safe and, I feel, so did the staff. The food exceeded our expectations in quality and quantity. We would recommend the Jolly Sailor as a safe and quality venue and it is to their credit that they refuse to compromise on safety as some posters have found it necessary to complain about. Thank you team Jolly Sailor on behalf of Dennis Venables and family, he really would have enjoyed the chocolate cakes and chips in particular.Hilary, Ben & Paula

I did a review in 2018 and rated you very highly, we visited again on 23 August and had a terrible experience. I appreciate these are challenging times, but we have visited a number of restaurants during COVID and they all have it right, not so, The Jolly Sailor. Staff were definitely not jolly, or happy or helpful. The lady behind the bar was downright rude and I told her so. The marquee is unwelcoming and no effort has been made to make it look nice, the tables were uncomfortable. We had to collect our own food which got cold very quickly and take plates back. If we wanted dessert we had to go back inside to order it. The food was good and up to usual standard, although not as many of the usual vegan choices for me, which was disappointing, however as I said appreciate we are living in different times. I messaged The Jolly Sailor to complain rather than put this on their Facebook page, no-one has had the decency to reply. We have been here many times and have always recommended it, but this experience was terrible. Other restaurants have managed well with COVID, so this is no excuse and never any excuse for rude and unhelpful staff.

We visited in August we phoned to book the tables to be told all the inside tables were reserved but we could turn up to wait and hopefully be seated outside which was fine.we informed them we would need 3 tables.when we turned up the owner was very rude and obnoxious,we told him we were told to turn up he was very annoyed we turned up,as I waited in the queue as there was a queue starting to form my husband then walked down to the jetty with the kids whilst I waited for a table the owner told my husband to get off his land/grass if we havent got a table whilst my husband was walking to the jetty from myself that was first in the queue.the owner then progressed to keep on to myself he will not be doing this again he is not having this behaviour when we were advised to turn up by one of his staff.after a little wait we had a table, then othe member of the family who were with us joined us as we were allowed 6 to a table, the owner then came over and started to be very rude to us yet again and refused to serve our cousin that was with us to the point our cousin got up and walked away to go and have food somewhere else.the owner then came over and said he is not putting up with this behaviour again of people turning up after we were told to turn up and hope for the best.due to the owner being obnoxious and very very rude our other family members queued on the same night after making a phone call thenselves to be told to turn up again,we had to pretend we didnt know each other as the owner would be very annoyed again and would keep on again.it spoiled our night, weve visited this pub alot in the past but we will never spend a penny here ever again,I understand its difficult for everyone at this hard times but there is no need to be obnoxious and rude.the only thing that has the full stars off me here is the location and beautifull view but you can get that from the ferry inn opposite too.

Stopped off for an afternoon drink on a glorious sunny day in September 2020. The location is just just amazing to sit in the garden next to the estuary looking across to Neyland on one side and Pembroke the other.

Visited last weekend with our in laws who had come to visit from Manchester we live local and this was only the 4th time we’ve ever been here but it will be top of our list next time. Very well COVID set up can’t fault them and track and trace in place. Can’t fault them as we rang at 4.25 and was offered a table for 4.45 we were seated in the conservatory which was lovely and overlooks the water. Lady came to the table and took our complete order and even stopped for a chat which is not the situation in some local places. My 3 year old was with us who had a child’s meal the meal was a generous size and all home cooked. I had the curry which was amazing and made a change you could have half rice half chips as usually in most places it’s one or the other. Everyone’s meals were generous portions we even had to sample the pudding.

Went to the Jolly yesterday and had the best roast lamb dinner, plenty of it with the veg done just right ( not too mushy ) roast and boiled potatoes plus roast parsnips and lots of lovely gravy! Chris and staff are doing a great job under these very trying times. they are observing all the current Covid guidelines and doing their best to make everyone welcome. well done all!

Booked here for lunch for a catch up with family that live nearby. I had 2 recomdations for this place and we weren't dissapointed. An excellent set up regarding covid etc. One way, plenty of social distancing. After you've been shown to your pre booked table and ordered at the bar they call your table number out by tanoe. Great idea. The food is typically pub grub but at quite a good standard. We all enjoyed. We were sat in the marquee they have there but you can also sit outside on benches too. Lovely views. Lots of parking. And they're doing track and trace.

Myself and my partner went for lunch. We had a table in the garden over looking the water. The pub had a one way system due to Covid regulations and the system worked well. Although the pub was very busy the service was both quick and friendly. We ordered a lasagne and a chicken curry both meals were delicious. You collect your food from a serving hatch, Kitchen staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back!

I visited The Jolly Sailor for lunch today with my husband and 2 young children! The covid safety measures are very well placed and we felt safe and relaxed! We all had delicious home cooked meals (fab portions) that we thoroughly enjoyed. The kids loved playing in the park and on the beach. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and made a fuss of my 2 chatty boys. I cant wait to return again soon! Thank you for a lovely afternoon :)

Good bits: They accept dogs outside, have a huge marquee, good space between tables, have a very efficient covid safe system of ordering food. Young waitress was very sweet too.Bad bits: Overpriced, food was bordering on atrocious. Pie and chips, none of it is home made. Had I wanted a frey bentos pie with oven chips, I’d have done it for £3 at home. Probably one of the worst meals I’ve had out. Ordered a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc, but was given the house white (French Sauvignon Blanc). Which was very poor; think £3 bottle of ‘white wine’ from the supermarket. What a shame, this place had a good write up amongst locals.

Visited the Jolly Sailor last weekend for a meal and a few drinks with the family. Obviously things are different now due to COVID but we felt reassured by the steps taken to keep everybody safe e.g. sanitizers, social distancing, cleaning procedures etc. Booking is advisable as they are working at a reduced capacity with meals being served outdoors. I ordered the Welsh sirloin steak as my main and it was beautifully cooked, whilst my girlfriend ordered the gammon. Portion sizes are excellent - we struggled to finish but was definitely good value for money. We felt that they were doing an excellent job under exceptional circumstances. Diolch.

Stopped by the jolly sailor to simply enjoy a swift drink on a sunny evening. Found the experience somewhat dire from start to finish. Unpleasant staff, and a stagnant atmosphere. A couple of people agreed in the queue on arrival that the situation is miserable. We filled out the tracker form and the staff had breached the data protection rules by checking our slip that we had posted in the box. She chased after us to say we hadn’t filled our number. We do not by law have to give our personal data, and anyhow we don’t have a number as I don’t have a house phone or mobile. Only a laptop. We had been told we must leave effective immediately after spending money on both drinks and and food. We stated we shan’t be leaving till we had finished our drink to which they replied they will phone the police on us. No problem. Phone the police. We finished our drinks and enjoyed the sunny evening however had their extremely rude manager coming back and forth to give us updates on the police situation. Once finished our drinks we were ready to leave. The manager rudely shouted at us not to return - although I’m sure at this point it would be a given that we will never spend any of our hard earned money here ever again. Thank you ‘jolly’ sailor for confirming to me just how un-jolly you are. And I know many felt the same. Tourists - I will list a few wonderful places to eat out and support as they have lost a lot of money in this difficult time • The Harbourmaster in Milford haven is an excellent choice ran by lovely people with a calming and welcoming atmosphere. • Bosherston Cafe is also a great choice with lovely ladies serving delicious home made food • Wave Crest in angle is also a great choice for a relaxing outdoors atmosphere. If it was such an issue I would have been perfectly happy for the owners to have told me to finish my drink and to leave. It was handled terribly and was very cringe to see how much people are enjoying the first little ounce of power they have had in their life! Your ‘reply’ I’m sure will be full of lies and I won’t be reading it. Come to the jolly sailor and enjoy communism everybody!

Grumpy man on phone took our booking otherwise all the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Dog friendly outside in marquee (this has to be booked) and a limited gluten free menu.Food over priced but good size portions, which were hot. Liked that your table number was called for collection before the food came out from kitchen reducing risk of it getting cold.COVID adapted, works reasonably well, if people took notice. Probably one of the best homemade apple crumbles I’ve had in pub/restaurant, shame about the cheap ice cream served with it.

Made to sit out side in a unsafe marquee and had to collect food from a window. The food wasn’t very nice and went very cold very quickly. The menu was very simple and very expensive for what we ordered. The staff weren’t very pleasant and were very miserable

Had an aniversary dinner, not very special... the menu is simple, but the portions are very big. The location is really nice, watching the sunset over the estuary was great. Service was a bit stunted due to the virus, but Ok. Felt a tad expensive for what it was.

If you want nice pub grub with a view of the estuary then this is the place to go. lots of free parking outside and plenty of room. One person orders at the bar, one way system in place and hand washing stations. You have to get your own food from a window and take your own plates back. Staff were the worst part, no smiles, no please/thank you and it was all of them, not a one off. The lady behind the bar was awful and even my child said the staff were trying their best not to smile. Really spoilt the whole experience. I've given them average purely for food and area but it wasn't enough to make me want to come back.

We were a family of 6 - we booked a table a day in advance for lunchtime. We had to accept 2pm because they are understandably busy. They had a Covid safe procedure in place so felt safe. We chose a variety of meals - all good. The Welsh Lamb dinner and scampi were particularly delicious We would definitely recommend the Jolly Sailor for a meal.

We live in the village. Keen to support local business ... but sorry... Awful. The food was awful! Dry and old. They did offer an alternative but it was SO awful that I was happy to leave. Never again.

Went for lunch at this venue yesterday. Don't order the garlic mushroom starter as it's a rip off. Got one puny slice of bread with what would probably equate to about two button mushrooms and creamy sauce, although it tasted great, come on £7.95 for this. Previously had more value for money with the previous owners. The small plate ham & egg was very good though and the service off Gleisny was good as always.

Didn’t disappoint. Lovely meals all served with humongous Yorkshire puds! Lashings of gravy and the cheesy leek dish was the best!
