Gluten free Tuesdays are the best. Portions sizes are good. Cleaned and fresh new oil. Friendly staff very accommodating easy parking

We have tried 4 chippies in Rugeley and this is the best by far. A shout out to Becky who served us, she was lovely and helpful. X

I often buy fish and chips from here but will avoid Tuesdays now as it’s gluten free night and I didn’t enjoy the fish ! The batter was so hard even a steak knife couldn’t cut it

This is a really well run Chip Shop, accept cards, reapinsive on website chat and polite staff and venue was clean - I drive past 3 chip shops to go to this one

Saw the reviews saying 'best chip shop in Rugeley". It certainly isn't. First time trying it. Kebab was average same with chips. Probably wouldn't go back. For me doesn't come close to Baz's.

been coming here years always been good, but tonights was poor , no batter on burgers and only abit on sausages

Pretty good chip bun, of the brioche variety, chips were good. Was nice to be asked if I wanted the bun (roll) with or without spread. The chicken tikka meat looked amazing, but too early in the day for me, maybe next time. Service was good, thank you 👍

Freshly cooked to order fish and chips x3.Good quality and quantity of food.A little disappointed to find fish was overcooked and therefore a little dryed out,which as it was cooked fresh.Not sure how we managed to get curry sauce instead of gravy but willing to give it another try.Perhaps a Saturday evening on the 1st day of football was not the best time to try them

Appalling....a 36% increase in prices of kebab meat and chips.5.50 to 7.50 in one jump. Food inflation is 15% so someone is profiteering. Last visit ever. Was always pricey compared to shops in town but now gone too far. Staff are lovely but owner is obviously not.

Called in for fish and chips on Monday. Excellent crisp fish batter and great chips.....would recommend.

Visitor to area. They don't do chicken kebab meat properly where I live, so always have proper chicken kebab meat when down this way. First time at Jolly Fryer though. Beautiful mixed chicken meat n chips! But, the friendly welcome and the service is outstanding. Thank you 🙂

Friendly staff with great food and choices

I'm quote disappointed with myself, that I lived in Rugeley for a year until one month ago. An I've only just tried food here, just today. It is the best chippy I have ever had. An the staff were do friendly. You have to try the chips.. they're gorgeous!!

The fish was cooked fresh in the afternoon but was over cooked and inedible as too hard, batter was dry not pleasant to eat. The fish was good inside, so will be going to town in the future.

Love the gluten free nights. Celiacs can also have a takeaway ! Ordering online for collection can often mean food isn't the warmest. Lovley food tho.

This is the best fish in Rugeley. The staff are great, it’s a lovely team. Typical chip shop menus, the mini fish and chips special is good value, the chips come in too big a portion, even a cone! Good value

Been using the Jolly Fryer for years. The staff are always friendly and know all the regulars. Very friendly atmosphere. The food is amazing. Portion sizes very generous. Everything fresh and so tasty. Would never go to any other local fish and chip shop. 😁😁

Had to queue but totally worthwhile for the excellent choice and well cooked food.

Very quick friendly service. Food good and always hot. Like every chip shop, one portion of chips is enough to feed the whole family including grandparents, uncles, etc. Every chip shop competes to give you more chips than the others instead of giving edible portions for a few pence less. No wonder the nation has an obesity problem. There needs to be a standard size by law. Rant over. There's are good reasons that this chippy wins awards.

Wow wow wow! We had a large fish & chips plus roe tonight after deciding to go local! Well ... exceptional that’s all I can say! Probably the best fish & chips we’ve ever had! Flaky white succulent fish , light crispy batter oh and the chips .... more more more ish! Everything super fresh, super cooked and huge portions! We will absolutely be back! Thankyou it was divine ... fish & chips at their very best 👏👏👏

Today was a trial for you and I hope it really went well! I myself is not gluten intolerant but my step daughter is . Was lovely to have a proper takeaway chippy meal together and a local one to lol was very impressed with the fish and chips and would definitely highly recommended and use again. The Jolly Fryer, has just trialled gluten free fish and chips. I had haddock and chips and they were superb, the fish was so good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hopefully they will start offering gluten free on a regular basis. Please support.

The chips were wonderful, but I couldn't eat the fish - very watery and the batter was soft and doughy. Not worth the £7 charged. Very busy, though and staff obviously knew the regulars well.

Me and my girlfriend have 2 takeaways from this place in the last couple of weeks and we have enjoyed it on both occasions. The owner is accommodating and he cooked the food fresh on the second time and he said it was no problem as we got there fairly late. On both times we had fish and chips and battered sausage and chips both with curry sauce and it was very nice. The sausage was a bit small so my girlfriend had two on her second visit but we still enjoyed it. The curry sauce was nice especially the Chinese style. Although we both like our regular chippy, this place is becoming a favourite and it deserves to be in the top 50 chippys.

Brilliant service, ordered in advance for a large group. Was no problem and ready ontime as agreed.

I have used this place a few times being close to my house but it's not my favourite, it's just convenient at times. The food can be inconsistent and well overpriced, Rugeley has more and better priced if you're willing to travel.

Passing through the area and managed to find the Jolly Fryer for lunch. The staff were friendly and funny, the prices were reasonable, the food was fantastic and above all, they introduced us to battered creme eggs! Sounds crazy I know, but it is the tastiest thing ever. Nice one guys, I wish I lived closer so I could become a regular. 👍

Always cooked fresh, so ask before you order. Everyone always greets you with a smile and nothing is to much trouble.

Surprisingly, it's hard to find a decent chippy! These are by far the best chips in the area, after trying many others which were awful! Friendly staff and chips that actually taste great!

Food is good, as far as UK chip shops go, better than the average. Can tell the oil is changed regularly. Nice clean shop and serving area.

Friday night cravings for the good old honest take-away of fish and chips ,with mushy peas. The chippy was busy being a friday evening but all ordered and served up in less than 15mins. Food was very good and it is always a top value meal.

Lovely chips clean and hot fresh cod. Light batter . Good sausage pies and kebabs. Usually a queue at evenings on cold days. Andy runs a popular shop and has many regulars.

Just been to this establishment and mentioned it was my sons birthday. The staff all sang him happy birthday and gave him a free slush. The food is fab too. Great service 👍

we placed a very large order for a party of 27 over the August bank holiday weekend.All the food was prepared with individual names on and was collected all piping hot.food was lovely and the owner very obliging to our needs.all our party thoroughly enjoyed the meal and have asked if we can do it again.Thankyou Barbbara on behalf of Silvertrees holiday park.
