The Jane Eyre Neighbourhood Bar in Manchester

This bar is wonderful. Great service, friendly and attentive. Waitress and chef made a great effort to adapt our food so my vegan daughter could share everything. Cocktails are a world away from the mainstream, sugary, diluted chain type and were sublime. If you like gin try the Black Bar Candle. We liked the dishes arriving as hoc so we could graze. The food was absolutely amazing. So tasty, such unique flavours, we were blown away. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

There were 8 of us and we had booked a table for cocktails as part of a birthday celebration. The Jane Eyre is somewhat of a hidden gem which is well worth visiting. The food which was coming out of kitchen looked very good indeed but we had only gone for cocktails. Whilst you do not have to drink cocktails they have an extensive menu of some unusual cocktails. It’s a refreshing change to see different and unusual cocktail combination instead of the pornstar martinis and mojitos everywhere else does. I should point out that if you have a particular favourite cocktail and it is not on the menu they will make it for you (providing they have all the ingredients). The venue itself is not massive and if you are expecting to go here on a Friday or Saturday book a table or you are very likely to be disappointed. A number of people turned up without bookings whilst we were there and left disappointed.

Lovely place to meet, eat and drink, went with friends, lovely atmosphere relaxing and the staff are lovely. Small plates, really tasty food, good place for a nice chat and nibbles. Worth a visit, I will definitely be back. Celeste was our waitress she was brilliant Thank you.

Cute bar with a welcoming staff. Visited on a tuesday evening, we made a booking just in case, but there was lots of space available. The food was the highlight, I had the courgette fritters and croquettes. While the menu is somewhat limited, the quality is evident. The only drawback is the relatively high cost for the portion size. While the price was justified by the delicious food, I wished to try more dishes. Will just have to make a returned visit!

We called here on the back of good reviews for cocktails. The bar has a good atmosphere and the staff are very friendly even when busy. My wife had a Persephone which she said was delicious and not badly priced at £11. There are special offers during week night. There were four beers on draft and I had the Beautiful Things by Big Trip which was very good and well priced for the area at £6. We did not eat but the Sunday lunches looked very good.

The best Sunday roast I’ve ever had in Manchester. Outstanding. Great wine and cocktail menu and playlist.

Great night at Jane Eyre Ancoats pre and post dinner. 9 of us so a big group to squeeze in. Just want to call out the team on the door who were so friendly and so helpful in finding us a space to drink before a table was ready. Lovely little bar. Brilliant door team 👏

Came here for the cocktails. They were really nice. Friendly staff. The guy at the door was the friendliest doorperson I have ever come across. He was just brilliant at welcoming people in, which sets the tone for the evening and puts a smile on everyone's face.

This was our first visit to Jane Eyre. We had heard good things about the Sunday lunch and wanted to try something different. We were really impressed. The vegan Sunday lunch was delicious and the roasties were the crispiest I've had save my own. Good portions too, oh the non vegans in our group loved the cheesiest cauliflower cheese. We really enjoyed the experience from the attentive, friendly service to the relaxed atmosphere. Great drinks selection too. It was reasonably priced too. We will be recommending to our friends and this will be a regular venue for Sunday lunch.

So lucky to have this place down the road. Really friendly staff, great atmosphere and Sunday roasts. Snack food throughout the rest of the week. Lovely Turkey Sunday Roast, my first in December so far. Also Dog friendly.

This place is awesome, really nice chilled vibe, Service was excellent, didn’t catch out waiters name but he was great. The roast dinner was a full 10/10 from us.

What a great place. We were a party of six and booked ahead (this is a must for this place - if you’re a larger party I wouldn’t try to just nip in on a weekend evening). The menu was refreshingly short with a good mix for those who are in pescatarian/ vegetarian. The quality of the food was fantastic and the cocktails were a hit too. I highly recommend this place.

We have only been twice and both times on a Sunday when they only serve a Sunday roast. It is a mighty fine Sunday roast though, so you shouldn't be disappointed 😁

Absolutely outstanding Sunday Roast at The Jane Ayre. We had the special rolled pork which had delicious crispy crackling, full of flavour and came with stuffing. We had the special side which was red cabbage - divine! The duck fat roast potatoes are sublime!! Attentive staff and lovely atmosphere with a nice autumnal view of the Ancoats square. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing food experience. Three of us shared the small plates. We had 9, all different and not one disappointed. The service was amazing. Attentive but not overly. Checked in on us just at the right time and the wine suggestion was perfect. My friends had been a few times before and although the menu rotates, it is consistently high quality.

We visited today with friends and our 4 little dogs. The team at this place made us feel so welcome and we are properly looked after. Other people with dogs were there too the atmosphere was great. We had food also which was lovely, I would definitely recommend this place for a visit 😊🐶🐶🐶🐶

I've been here many times. The small plates are delicious. Great selection of great quality wines. Recently had Sunday dinner here, which was devine, plenty of it. Didn't really need cauliflower cheese as i had plenty of food on my plate,but couldn't resist. Delish. Sad i didn't have room for pudding. My go to place every time 🙂

Best tasting food I have had in a while, unusual and really understated.

We have been to the Jane Eyre in Ancoats on many occasions, the staff are always super friendly and extremely welcoming to our little Cavapoo. We decided to try out the Sunday lunch as we had heard it was good but let me tell you it's better than good, it was one of the best Sunday dinners I have ever had, absolutely sensational! We will definitely be back again soon.

Food was absolutely delicious, tasted so fresh with the highest quality ingredients. All staff were friendly but professional creating a lovely atmosphere. Even though this is a neighbourhood bar we were definitely there for the food and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for flavoursome dishes and a great atmosphere.

A great place to have a great (affordable) cocktail with some outstanding small plates. They also have a happy hour Tuesday-Thursday. Plus dog friendly!

First visit to The Jane Eyre tonight, suggested by a work friend. Really lucky atmosphere and excellent service. Had a mocktail because I don't drink alcohol and it was made with the same care and attention, with the same quality ingredients as the proper cocktails. (Normally you just get some pre-made stuff!) Really nice! Just had sharing nibbles but will definitely go back for a proper meal - delicious!

Not good. We had the croquettes which had far too much ndjua and no potato or bechamel, so were too salty and strong tasting. The only things we liked were the roasted cauliflower - and the sea bass which was served in a nice chilli broth. The so called hassleback potatoes was a large sliced boiled potato with a bit of red sauce. All served sequentially so we basically had the potato on its own. Very basic, unsmiling, rushed feeling, service. We were asked at least 6 times for our menu choices, by 3 different waiters, when we just wanted to enjoy our cocktails. They do a good mezcal cocktail.

This place is amazing! I came in for Sunday roast, but I screwed up my reservation (totally my fault!) and showed up about 30 minutes after the kitchen closed. The staff was so nice about my reservation mistake and the chef was kind enough to put together a plate of food for me. It was absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very cool. Can't recommend The Jane Eyre highly enough!

Visited on Sunday for the sunday roast and it did not disappoint. With nice outside seating to take advantage of the warm weather it was a very nice family meal. Tried both the chicken and the (excellent) sirloin Sunday roast. Trimmings were on point and asked for the added cauliflower and cheese as a side. Another great venue to add to the strong Sunday roast scene in Ancoats.

Popped in with my friend and husband for some snacks and wine. We were not disappointed by anything we ordered. Between the bread and butter, pork belly, prawns and fried goats cheese we were all very pleased. It was a nice location and good vibes....

Good food and drinks, but the prices are quite frankly offensive, especially if you work in the industry and you know what the cost price is for the ingredients and wines

The nicest meal out I've had in a long time! I visited this afternoon with my husband and dog and we had one of the best Sunday roasts ever. The food was delicious, piping hot and gorgeously presented. I've also got to mention the staff, who were all really welcoming, friendly and helpful. We loved everything about this place and will definitely go again.

Sunday roast was *chefs kiss* which I'd defo have again, as was the dessert. Really good portions for the price. My only complaint was that the staff seemed quite surly?? I just got an off vibe that we were inconveniencing them by eating there! Maybe I'm not cool Ancoats enough to eat there, ha.

This is a nice place for casual dining, the small plates/bar snacks were tasty across the board, we had a cross section of everything. The wings were superb, the accompanying sauce was a bit ropey, the prawns were also magic. Great overall experience.

Expensive. You dont get much food. Decor modern but retro. Nice setting. Too dear to visit often.

Sunday roasts here are great. But hey, if its not Sunday yet, the regular menu is full of very tasty small plates. Will be coming back for sure! Very dog friendly too.

Visited here with a couple of friends and the dog on Tuesday afternoon. We all ordered a cocktail and 3 or 4 small plates each. Excellent value for money with the Monday-Thursday discount (we payed £102, including service charge) for more than ample food and...

Make the prices up as they went along....advertising said 9 quid for a cocktail then charged us 11 for one off the menu....and it wasn't a complicated one either...know you pay a premium for Manchester but this is ridiculous....

If you think Hawksmoor is good, u should have no issue with the Sunday Roast Sirloin here.

Our number one place to visit in Manchester. Great drinks, food and the most pleasant staff you could ask for! Sunday roasts are amazing and Ham croquets are the best you can get anywhere! Highly Recommended!

We picked here purely for the name. And it was a pleasant surprise. We had a drink whilst waiting for friends for a hen party. The staff are super friendly, and the place is lovely. Great facilities. The food sounded good but we were going on to a reservation elsewhere, it would be nice to come back again and check out the food though.

Have visited the bar several times now and had the best service and atmosphere in any bar in Manchester. The owner is great and very friendly . Good cocktails and food. Only eaten once but what we had was great a d good value. Small plates but tasty as anything . Recommend the mushroom risotto and the scallops both very good . My favourite cocktail being the Fools gold. Would recommend to anyone looking for a classy yet easy atmosphere where you can chat n enjoy a relaxing time . Had another visit ( one of many now). How to explain what fanatic place this is. Food is even better, staff awesome ( Thanks Matt for help with food choices). There's nothing I could complain about at all. Give yourself a treat and go along ASAP and enjoy great atmosphere, food and drink.
