Federal is forever my favourite place. Whether I’m coming here by myself or with anyone else, the atmosphere and everyone who works there are so so so nice. I can’t imagine how I’ll leave Manchester so soon and not have federal! 🥺

Never fails. Great coffees and all things brunch. Child friendly and charming service. You can also order via QR code which can also be convenient. Expect to queue on weekends because it’s worth it.

Beautiful atmosphere at Federal Oxford Road I had the Turkish eggs they were beautiful. The atmosphere is very friendly. The staff were very helpful. Highly recommended.

Came in for breakfast at around 8am. Service was great, coffee and food amazing. The French toast is massive and delicious

From the get go federal is always a top choice. This was our first time visiting this location. It is a little smaller than most other sites but it offers amazing food, a cosy atmosphere and great service. The staff are very friendly and happy to help with all your requests. The menu is the usual federal menu with a good range of drinks and brunch plates. The beetroot latte was incredible. With beetroot being an amazing source of nutrition finally finding somewhere that has it other than in a smoothie was a blessing. The eggs Benedict was good perfectly. Egg yolks running and fresh sourdough The steak ciabatta was cooked to perfections. Tender strips of sirloin with a fresh ciabatta bun. Would 100% visit this site again

We only had coffee, but having tried many in Manchester, this, and their other premises on Oxford Road, are by far the best. Reasonable price and friendly staff made for an excellent break.

Nice place for an upmarket breakfast, some good menu options (but don't expect a full English) - poached eggs cooked well and all tasted good, if you're looking for something better than a regular breakfast place then here is the place to go.

Extremely poor client service! Ordered a takeaway “coconut cappuccino”, the lady who took my order didn’t bother to notify me that they didn’t have coconut milk. I was served an oat cappuccino instead, when I mentioned that it wasn’t what I ordered, the lady started arguing and telling me that “she is sure that’s what I ordered”. Paid £4 for the wrong order and didn’t even get an apology from the stuff. Definitely not coming back.

I’ve been meaning to try this cafe for ages but there’s just always a queue usually. However it was really worth it. Really fast service, great food and nice staff.

Always a fan of federal, quite literally the best brunch in town and very literally the best French toast you will ever eat. Service is always great and the coffee never lets me down.

After being gifted a voucher I have visited Federal several times over the past month and have no complaints whatsoever! Both the food and service is great - I'm writing my first google review today because of the kindness shown by Katy, who really made my day :)

Everything was very good, fast and pleasant service. It was crowded but it was possible to find a place. Lots of choice, everything looked very good. I recommend the banana bread. I would have liked to be able to order at my table rather than at the bar

The best Turkish eggs in Manchester by far! Thanks for the recommendation to the lovely waitress Leanne, who made me feel very welcomed. I'm a lover of yogurt so this went down a treat with nicely toasted sourdough and had a nice oat flat white to cleanse the pallet afterwards. Thanks again I'll be back

Today around 1:00 p.m. I bought a very bad coffee. I had stomachache all day and a lot of heartburn. I don't understand considering the price. It was a large size Latte. I couldn't finish it. I can only comment that the service was good but it bothered me that when paying the machine it asked me for a tip, considering that it was a takeaway coffee.

Despite the fact that a dish was not taken into account in the service, the waitress was able to apologize for this error. For the inconvenience, we had a cake and two tickets to come and have hot chocolate/coffee.

It's a little bit pricey but food was tasty. Good place for breakfast or lunch, to meet up for coffee.

Incredible breakfast There is already a queue in front of the shop - so take your time :) We particularly recommend the French toast and the monthly special - burrata with sourdough bread. Very strong number! The coffee is also very good - latte art included - logo :) Unfortunately, it is very drafty, so it is comfortable and you almost have to be careful not to catch a cold due to the strong climate

It's a very busy place. I needed something to eat after my journey. 9:40 am - just a few free places. The staff was friendly. And my order was really within 10 minutes, high speed. Good place 👍

Absolutely loved this place. Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and the BEST coffee. We were served by Bruna who made us feel really warm and welcomed. She was the perfect waitress. Great smile, recommendations, and friendly conversation. We stayed for another drink because we felt so comfortable.

Amazing place! We have just been there 7 people including a wheelchair and the waitress were extremely nice and helpfull! Delicious coffes, brownies and french toast all were delicious!

Worst of the federal cafes. Northern quarter federal is by far the best. Staff here are just rude and arrogant.

Federal Coffee is a nice place well located on Oxford Road close to the university and campus area.its about 15 minutes walk to the main shopping area such as The Arndale but there is plenty of public transport within easy reach.the staff were very friendly and the coffee is good.i didn't try the food though.the shop has easy access for the disabled but looks like it gets busy at times.worth a try if your nearby.

We came for breakfast. Ordered eggs anyways and halloumi and shrooms. The quality of food was good but could be slightly more creative. The shrooms option was great but eggs any way was very basic. It was a bit pricey.

Considering this is one of our regular breakfast places in Manchester due to how good the food/service normally is. Today was a bad day. The food was dry and didn't taste too good. the overall experience was different from all of the other times. Considering the price of this place the food and service could of been better!

The Fed’s great. It’s working the whole Antipodean brunch vibe beautifully. The Flat White (originally an Aussie invention) is spot on. We split a steak sandwich on crispy, light Ciabatta - and a triple stacked Club sandwich. Both delicious. They do a line in sweet brunch items too. However, we didn’t have room. Our server was charming. Come for the food and marvel at how the overseas students can afford to eat there! Recommended.

We all know it is the best brunch in town. Federal has good atmosphere and food. The only bad part is you have to queue a long time in rush hour. I remember i got some egg and a toast? The egg York is perfect in taste. Next time i gotta try their latte.

Always in for take away coffee. Staff is OK. The coffee is good but the service is very very slow. It takes a minimum of 15 mn to get a cup of coffee to go and that's not very practical.

Easiest 5 star ever. The dishes are scrumptious. We got the eggs Benedict and Turkish Eggs as well, but many people also recommended the French toast. Absolutely outstanding. Coffees also great. Highly recommend everyone to make the effort to get to this cafe.

thank god we went on a weekday morning instead of the weekend! we had to wait in the queue for around 25 minutes, but the staff were so kind as to hand us small cups of hot chocolates to tide us over in the freezing cold. once ushered inside the slightly cramped café, the very friendly waitresses walked us through how to order and our food arrived hot, in minutes! rich french toast (2 fresh, thickly cut pieces of brioche, with a raspberry coulis, a generous quenelle of mascarpone, fresh berries and chunks of chocolate granola) and a smooth latte exceeded expectations. such lovely service, and even lovelier food x

I went for a coffee and shakshuka this morning and the whole experience really made my day. Thank you to the lovely ladies on service, the Pastel de Nato was such a special treat and the hug was just what I needed today. I love coming here every Friday before college! I've walked past a few times and wanted to try but always put off by the queue. Finally bit the bullet and joined the queue on a Sunday at 1pm, waited about 25 minutes. We were given menus and told it would be about 25-30 minutes so we knew what we were signing up for. The space inside isn't very big at all, and they pack alot of tables into a very small space, it's very tight and there's really not much room, I wouldn't recommend buggies or anyone with mobility issues. Me and my friend were seated on a small bench at the window, there was just enough space. Can't complain about the food and coffee, drinks arrived very quickly and the coffee was delicious. I had the sweetcorn fritters with bacon, I've never seen anything like this before and was curious, it was very tasty, and good portion size, although maybe a bit expensive at £14. Staff were very friendly and welcoming They add a 10% service charge even though nobody takes your order, you order on your phone or at the till, seems a bit cheeky. You can remove it though. Overall a nice visit but I wouldn't rush back to queue up, if I happened to walk past and there wasn't a queue then maybe but there are plenty of other places that are just as good that you don't have to wait for

Albeit a cozy interior, the food and service is always on point. From experience the wait can be long at times and have to queue outside regardless of the weather, so be prepared. But overall a good vibe.

Smashed avocado with poached ehmggs with beacon was delicious, especially the beacon that were so nicely done. Crispy at the edge and juicy at the middle. 4 stars Cappuccino was so artistic abd aromatic. 3 stars

We came last week and were warmly welcomed by a young Australian girl Ashleigh. We had the avo toast and the mince pie French toast which was divine.

Came here for the first time on a solo brekkie date before work. Went for the Turkish Eggs and honestly, was one of the best brekkies I’ve had in Manchester. Friendly service, food was quick to arrive and absolutely banging. Made my day before a long shift!

We had breakfast here on our first morning in Manchester and enjoyed it so much we had to go back the next day. An atmospheric, small cafe with friendly staff. Great selection of different dishes, with good opportunities to adapt and add elements according to your needs. Good coffee and juice, and fantastic food. If you visit this place I recommend you add halloumi to your dish - it's the best I've ever tasted!

This place is the right place for breakfast in the open air. The breakfast menu is special. Try breakfast here and I promise you that you will love this. The best restaurant ever for breakfast, brunch and coffee, very special. I hope you try it and have a wonderful day.

Great service. Had to wait 30 mins till we could get table it was Sunday morning and busy. French toast was good shame my chai latte was cold. Other than that it was not bad.

“Go federal, it’s decent”. Right. I had an eggs Benedict with smocked salmon. It was busy and it took a while. But understandable. The actual food was average. Hollandaise sauce was like cold custard. The salmon was bland. Maybe it’s because people hyped it up and there’s often queue, but it was nothing special I’m afraid. If you want breakfast to change your life go Betties Tea room or something.

Even if there is more than 5 star, i would to give it more.

We enjoyed our visit for the first time to Federals this morning. There was a long wait of 25 min in the rain as the cafe isn’t huge or have a lot of seating. Nevertheless, once we got our table we placed our orders. The french toast was by far the standout item, exquisite, the clotted cream was delicious. The Turkish eggs also tasted fresh, authentic and rustic. Overall a pleasant experience, can be tiring with the long wait times and not the most spacious place to bring a baby buggy into

There was a queue but we got seated within 60seconds. We had sensational oat flat white and one spilt on the way to us, we were adamant it was fine but he insisted on getting us a new one. Amazing service, amazing coffee, can’t wait to come back to try the menu. Highly recommend

Whilst we did have to queue for quite a while as expected, it was absolutely worth the wait. The food tasted amazing and is certainly good value for money as the presentation was impeccable, and the portion size was certainly generous :)

Had a birthday brunch at Federal Cafe and it was lovely! I had the Turkish eggs and it was a very tasty dish. Also shared the French toast and it was so good! Lovely breakfast options. Bathroom has a baby changing table. The tables did fill up quick on a Friday morning so I’d recommend being there early, especially if you have a big group of you(not sure if they take bookings over the phone as I didn’t try to do this). They do have individual cubbys for single diners and there were at least two available when I went.

Best breakfast/brunch I've had in aaaages! I got the Turkish eggs, the breakfast caprese special and French toast. Legitimately so tasty. Loved every bite.

Not only the food and friendly staff, I also liked the environment once I walked in. The atmosphere is so comfortable to sit inside. What's even better is the cafe is right across the road of John Dalton Building of MMU. It feels like I was visiting my past when I was a university student many years ago while enjoying my food looking outside the window.

I would say this is the best cafe in Manchester. It’s worth to try, the food is in reasonable price, staff are friendly, food is amazing, location is decent, they have three restaurants around NQ, deansgate and oxford rd, very convenient!

French toast is definitely the star of the show and a must-have! Also got the Today's Specials which had been the chocolate bread pudding. They ran out of cherries so we got strawberries instead, which was more of our preference anyway. As a sweet tooth, this is just the right kind of delicacy that I need. I like how the fruits (blueberries/strawberries) were able to balance out the sweetness of the caramel drizzle and chocolate sauce on the dishes. Also the crumble seasoned on the french toast, seemingly unimportant, had been an essential player to give that bit of crunch to the soft and mellowy toast. And the whipped cream on top, surprisingly and in a good way, had been of thick and blocky instead of your usual fluff and airy texture.

Food was nice fudge chocolate brownie whatever me mum got me. But I wouldn’t recommend buying a 2.80 bottle of coke. when it came I was disappointed with the size (200ml) and it costing £2.80, at this price you should at least be getting a 500ml bottle or 330ml but clearly this is on purpose as they don’t say on the menu what size the bottle is. (I want me mums money back 😁)
