I’m gutted to hear that Black Leaf is closing but very happy to hear that they’re relocating! The food we had was part of a midweek deal they had in November. When we arrived, which was quite early, it was so quiet that we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while, which felt weird. This place deserves to be busy all the time!

Literally had the best ,I repeat..the best vegan tapas to date. Oh my Buddah the buffalo cauliflower in the sexy guiness (amongst other very tasty ingredients) was to die for. Yum! If only I saved space for the desert.... Cannot wait to come back! Thankyou so blooming much!!! :D

Delicious vegan Sunday roast. We had the mushroom and chestnut wellington, and with the sides it comes with there was plenty of food, although the additional gravy was a must. Good price for the portion and quality and good service. The only slight let-down was the Yorkshire pudding - they may wish to consider buying in from Mabel's. Overall, would recommend and certainly go back.

I was close to 3 stars but the staff were great. Cocktails need attention, I hardly ever send drinks back but I just couldn't drink it. Food is good, I did expect better but I think with a few tweaks and some nicer plates and decor they could do really well. Upstairs was much more inviting, softer lighting, better playlist, more relaxed. Downstairs feels a little lost, like they ran out of money. Hope it grows because I wanted to like it more than I did but I will go back in a month or so and see what they have done to improve. Staff were saving grace.

Heard so many good things about Black Leaf, so when I finally managed to visit with a friend in February I was not disappointed. Cocktails in Alvarium (upstairs venue) were well mixed and inventive. We were then shown downstairs to the intimate dining area (Black Leaf). Service was polished, yet warm and welcoming. The evolving menu piques your curiosity, everything sounded good, so we chose a selection to share. The quality of the food was outstanding, dishes cooked with skill and flair. There were many other contented diners like us who left happy that night, already dreaming of their next visit. We had a really memorable evening - head chef Grace Stubbs the team got it so right. We'll be back to try the Sunday vegan roast menu for sure.

Wow! Took my sister here as she is vegan and I’m not and I was blown away! The food is delicious and really well thought through, a good mix of ‘meat’ like ones (the coq au vin was honestly better than any meat one I’ve had) and regular tofu and salads. Crispy tofu and the dhal were amazing! Lovely intimate atmosphere with our server (I believe her name was Lydia) was lovely and attentive despite there being a huge table of 16 people in on the same night and she was doing everything! The chefs were smashing it in their open kitchen, looking professional and calm while having a laugh at the same time - such a lovely atmosphere. Nice to see women in the hospitality industry front line and smashing it! Keep it up I will be back! <3

We visited for a Mother’s Day treat, I am not vegan, my mam and sister are. We all said this was one of the best meals we had ever eaten. It was an explosion of amazing tastes throughout the dishes and we all couldn’t get enough of the flavours! Absolutely amazing! Lovely set out and cosy restaurant, it was perfect! Staff were helpful and food was quick to the table!

The menu looks superb, and we were so excited to try it, but we left thoroughly disappointed. Either the bar and floor were understaffed, or staff weren’t very attentive. We ordered food and drinks at the same time, having waited a while to order. We understand kitchens can run out of stock, but at 7.30pm, 25% of the menu was unavailable. We then waited 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, but the first few dishes arrived in a more timely fashion. The first two potato dishes were nice, as was the whipped tofu in the warm pear salad. However, the salad couldn’t have featured more than one tenth of a single pear, just two little slivers. The final two dishes, which arrived much later, and after the waitress had already tried to clear away our plates and cutlery, seemingly assuming we had no more dishes to arrive, weren’t worth the wait. Nice menu on the face of it, just think they need to up their game in order to keep apace with the demands of a Saturday night dinner service.

Amazing vegan, no-waste restaurant. We tried about 8 dishes and wasn't disappointed by one. The new menu is incredible - personal favourites were the Guinness-glazed Cauliflower, the spiced Carrot & Parsnip dish and the 'Beef on toast. The restaurant itself is great too, really nice setting and the staff were all great too. The cocktails ruled too.

This little gem is underneath Alvarium. It's an incredible no-waste-kitchen of seasonal vegan food. We've never had a bad meal here! They have really inventive dishes like vegan scallops and spanakopita. W've been multiple times and always enjoy it!

Miserable person serving this morning. Mocha £4.45 for a drink. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. for a standard drink. Seemed pissed off that I asked for a staff discount then proceeded to say there isn't much I can do about it now as gone through the till. Then I asked for chocolate on the top and she was even more cross that I'd asked and just carried on her conversation with a colleague and put my drink down nearer to the edge she was working at. Just really miserable experience, no smiles, no customer service. WILL NOT BE BUYING COFFEE FROM YOU AGAIN and will be telling everyone about my experience! Food however is good here but still the price is on the higher side!
