Ah, the Jampot, scene of so many afternoons on the sauce when I was "in a meeting". It's genuinely historic, but, as it's off the high road it's full of Insurance types, also in "meetings", and not on the tourist trail. So if you're in the area and fancy a decent pint of Guinness (other drinks available but why bother) step over the badly worn down ancient doorstep and have a "meeting" in a genuine piece of London history. Service is good but it's very busy so cut the staff some slack at peak times.

I could feel the history inside. Clean and tidy with a lot of office folk convening over a beer. Selection of beers was the brewery own label but good selection to choose from.

If you're in the snug some staff don't come down very often as most get beer and go outside when it's fine. Top tip is slip downstairs and get a pint in the peace and quiet, before about half one anyway. Didn't eat but the beer was fresh and chilled.

This is one of my favorite pubs in London, especially knowing it was the site of London’s first coffeehouse back in 1652. Being there, you can truly feel its age and all the history it holds—it’s like stepping back in time. The place has a wonderfully preserved, old-world charm that’s simply captivating. I highly recommend visiting; it’s a must-see during your trip to London, and you won’t regret it. You’ll have an amazing time.

City of London icon steeped in heritage & vintage City boozing. A huge, stately public house in the narrow alleys of the heart of the city of London. Bay, arched & round windows overlook popular alleyway drinking. Victorian beauty is bountiful within under the gloriously highly decorative ceiling panels & paper. The drinking hall is divided into four large City worker hideaways portioned by pannelled wood & glazing. Luxurious high stools, bench tables & bay window seats in ample space & coat hooks amongst the wood panelled walls & decorative pillars. A large bat connects through the hall with a grand original back bar, good draught selection & excellent, vintage Shepherd Neame pub paraphernalia galore under the original droplet lamps over a very clean, polished floor. A male centric, City worker crowd are loud, overpowering the music but help by the portioned layout. A classic piece of City of London business boozing with architectural heritage.

Historic pub down an alleyway. The interior is interesting and old but when busy its standing room only outside and round the corner so you can't actually see the pub. This is a shepherd's neame outfit and they sold 4 ales, 3 regulars and a seasonal, beer was kept well but a bit bland which tends to happen to shepherd's neame if it travels a long way. Staff seemed to struggle filling the pint glasses so beware of short measures! Decent price for the city at £6 a pint.

An old coffee house with a period exterior and dark wood interior that has a wine house name. But it is now a proper pub and bar with all the drinks you expect and real ale too. Food available in the ambience of a dark wood interior plus a basement bar and seating too. In the summer people stand in the nearby alleyway but it is pretty cool to be inside and can be quiet downstairs. Good staff and well kept ale. Tasty pub style menu. Lovely vibe. Large traditional looking pub, which could be great, but for poor customer service - trying to serve us beer from a tap they were actually cleaning. There was hardly any seating - only a few customers when we visited, but no seats available even tough the pub is quite big. All sorts of notices on the windows, saying that when you are outside, you can't stand here or there etc. No tables outside even though there is room. Window sills outside have been deliberately made sloapy, so you can't stand a drink on them. Luckily there is a public square just through the arch, where people go. You can take your drinks there and sit down. Not good. Won't be going back.

Easy to see why this 600yr old pub is a must visit. The original step has been worn down by its patrons. The service is good with friendly staff, good beers on tap. In summer there is an open back courtyard that makes it more enjoyable. Just for the men, only place which has a line for the toilets. Else a top notch with friends. May not be kid friendly after 5pm.

Regularly come to the Jampot once a month for after work drinks with a few friends, service has normally been great but on this occasion we ended up experiencing something none of us could quite fathom, the tall blonde woman serving behind the bar directly swore at us saying “f*****g hurry up and choose something”. We opted not to challenge her on the matter at the time as she clearly didn’t want to be there and maybe there is something going on at home. We won’t let this ruin our monthly tradition but I do believe it needs addressing.

The downstairs wine bar is a lovely haven if not for the ignorant and arrogant bar staff, such as Danny, who doesn’t know a rosé from a Viognier.
