Beyond expectations. Visited on a wet, grey November day but the welcome was warm and genuine. I chose the haggis fritter and steak pot pie. The food is truly Rosette standard both taste and presentation . Compliments to both chef and staff you’re doing a great job and this shines through. Will definitely return.

I imagine this place is constantly busy during the summer. It's in a wonderful location surrounded by beautiful views! As we visited during the weekday around 3pm, we were lucky to be sat in a booth at the window. The staff member who served us was wonderfully pleasant. We had a short wait on food, but it was worth it for the fresh dishes that were served to us. Portions were ample (especially for lunch), but we couldn't resist the desserts on show and ordered cakes to take away for later.

Stunning views and nice cold wine at night. Staff lovely. Our breakfast was superb. Eggs absolutely perfection and the kids breakfast was still a large portion. I added hash browns and an extra egg. Hot rolls lovely. Great coffee.

We recently visited Bute for a family holiday and stopped by the Jam Jar after spending the morning at Scalpsie bay, we’re very glad we did. We had the dog with us so sat outside and enjoyed the stunning views of the bay at Rothesay. The service was really friendly and we enjoyed a lovely family lunch. Food was quick and really tasty. Would definitely return on our next visit to the island.

Visited the Jam Jar cafe for lunch. Menu is very basic but pricey for what they serve. Ordered 3 lunches and our waitress was very attentive. Lovely young girl. 2 lunches arrived with a bowl of chips that we hadn't ordered but decided to keep and share. After 10 minutes 3rd lunch still hadn't arrived. My friend went into the main cafe to enquire and was told they would get onto it, make it...think they forgot about it! After another 5 mins out came her lunch, a basic burger. We asked for more tea as her tea was now cold. She bit into the burger to find it raw inside. She complained to the waitress and asked that it be cooked properly. The young girl seemed more than happy to oblige. Within minutes this woman, I believe her name is Agnes, came hurtling out if the cafe, stood over us, without a mask, stated that we had made too many complaints, had upset her staff....NOT!, and asked that we leave!! We tried to challenge her accusation but she spoke over us asking that we leave, " no charge for the lunches you've had, just leave". I could not believe her attitude, her manner, such a disgrace!!!! There was no talking to her...she just wouldn't listen and spoke over us. Such an ignorant woman with absolutely no customer care let alone manners. And to challenge us in such a way, in the presence of other customers!! I pity her staff and will certainly never return to that establishment. I do not advise anyone else to visit with such a horrible member of staff. She definitely need a lesson in manners let alone customer service.

It's a bit of a hike up from the shore side to the top of the hill where The Jam Jar resides as part of the Roseland Holiday Park. However it was worth every step as their home made cake was excellent as was their coffee. The service was friendly and attentive. I can't promise when I will next visit the island but when I do it will certainly be on my list of places to eat.

Choice of two delicious home made soups, a variety of wraps salads, toasties and baked potatoes. Gorgeous home baking. The service was excellent and the staff really were very understanding and helpful with the small members of our party. The outside area looked lovely but we visited in the rain so we intend to return to enjoy the seats on the decking with fabulous views over the town and for the kids to explore the play area. They were really keen to sit in the ice cream cone chairs, even in the rain.

If you are on Bute on a Friday or Saturday night we would recommend The Jam Jar. Delicious fresh pizza and the children loved the outdoor play area. Well worth the hike up the serpentine and burns off some of the calories!

We saw the advert for pizza on Friday and Saturday nights on the side of a car and booked. So glad we made the hike up the serpentine to get there, the exercise was a good way to avoid waist expansion. The pizzas were so fresh and tasty, not a crust was left. No room for anything else although the contents of the dessert cabinet were very tempting...

I visited here a few days ago in a party of 12 for lunch & we were all so impressed! The restaurant is beautiful, it has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere & the staff were so friendly & helpful. The food was delicious, great portion sizes & really reasonably priced too. It's most definitely worth the trip, the views are lovely (even on a rainy day!) & we will definitely be back when we visit the island again 😊

When open (it has now closed permanently); it was a great wee eating house! We went there often. It will be sadly missed, used by many locals, tourists and organisations as an affordable restaurant.
