Always loved the Ivy in Richmond but not sure we’ll be heading back anytime soon. The restaurant is starting to feel very tired with our chairs missing fabric on the arms due to their age. The service wasn’t great (verging on rude) but the prices have now rocketed. This restaurant has long felt like a real treat without being a rip off. Sadly, we felt last night that we had very poor value for money. Food still tasty but if the Ivy is going to charge top prices it needs to do better. Two main courses (with sides) and two drinks each was well over £120. Until now a trip to the Ivy was an easy decision - sadly, we think we’ll try somewhere else next time.

We went for lunch to celebrate my birthday. When we walked through the door the noise hit us it was like a school canteen. We ordered from the London Festival menu. We ordered zucchini fritters for the table and both had the chicken skewers for starters. The zucchini was really disappointing it was like fried batter with very little zucchini. The chicken was okay.For mains I had crispy duck leg which was nice, my husband had the plant based curry which was okay. I didn’t have dessert but he had chocolate brownie which was just like lumps of chocolate. When the bill came it was incorrect as it had been charged as if a la carte, although this was corrected when I pointed it out. The best thing about the experience was the service, the staff were excellent. We both felt the food was very average rather than the quality we expected.

Birthday lunch treat for a friend, the Ivy was the perfect atmosphere for a special occasion as it is beautiful. Had t been in a few years. Food was good, not excellent, both the options or taste not as special as the restaurant decor and price would lead to you to expect. Service is excellent though and a big thank you to Marco who looked after us very well, he is an asset to the team.

I had a wonderful experience at Ivy Cafe Richmond. The ambiance is cozy and elegant, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal or coffee. We were always choosing Ivy for our special days, not actually particularly for food but for great ambiance and extraordinary customer service, but sadly yesterday after having such terrible experience,it is now definetely going to change and we will never ever going to Ivy again. It was celebration for my husband's birthday. Everything started great, we have been showed our seat and get the menu. Then after waiting 20 minutes finally waitress came and get our order. We waited for drinks for a long time. Then one of the starter came.. But still no drinks.. Then another 2 starter came but still after giving order 40 minutes all starters were not on the table. I got my starter after 10 minutes my husband and my son got. After one and a half hour later still no main course... It was even impossible to speak with the waitress, I managed to finally have an eye contact to express my feelings and hunger.. It was such disappointment actually happened after that. I was just started to explain to manager (I guess he was the one) - he just cut me in the middle of my sentence and he said "he needs to go and check if I am correct then he will come and talk to me ".. Then suddenly our main course arrived and he never come back to our table again. That's why I tried to give my feedback to the waitress serving us and I said it was very upsetting to wait such a long time without food and explanation and she just told me she will speak with her manager do some discount. And she left, she did not even talk anything else even asking if this is fine etc. Because we were not after a discount or sth, we just want to have a good service and food. Then she did not even asked if we would like to have coffee, she did not bring the menu. She did not bring me spoon for dessert etc. I am really failing to understand in general what is going on in this beautiful restaurant.. It was half empty, people were coming and were rejected.. May be there was not enough staff etc. I don't know what was happening because it was not explained to me there but there was something definetely wrong. When you mention on reservation that you have birthday, a birthday candle with a piece of pudding also comes, but this time of course it was missing as well. Finally bill arrived and waitress brought the bill and said as agreed she removed the dessert.. We were not agreed on this, tbh we could not even communicate.. I am not after a compansation or sth, I just wanted good time with my family and celebrate a moment in a nice place and all ruined... I don't think noone deserves such service. I don't want to say it is also waitress' mistake because she was very busy.. But if this is the case it supposed to be explained beforehand to us, such as service time is going to be longer and apologise for that etc. But no, this is also never happened. I am deeply sorry that we will not continue our tradition, but it will not be hard to find another celebration place in Richmond... I will avoid Ivy and suggesting you do the same if you are looking for a proper customer service..

Very good selection of vegan dishes. Had a beetroot salad because I don't really like beetroot but like to challenge my taste 😉 it was super tasty! And the vegan burger was one of the best I ever had. Not a meaty kind but made of mushrooms I think? Lovely and flavoursome. Deserts could be better, I don't consider sorbet or fruit salda are rather healthy food 😉

A nice environment to eat out in. We thought the food was pretty good, bit overpriced for what it was and modest portion sizes. We ordered the salmon main for our 12yr old daughter and had to order extra mash potatoes as the salmon only came with some broccoli. £30 total for both. We thought this somewhat poor value. There are plenty of other locations in Richmond to choose from where value for money is higher.

Beautiful. We celebrated our son's birthday with a lunch at the Ivy. It lived up to our expectations.👍🏽 Food was amazing.👍🏽 Our waitress was on the ball and top notch. Please pass on our thanks (i think she was South African, blonde hair, massive apologies if i got that wrong) They also provided a little cake for our man to blow out. You get what you pay for here 😀 The only tiny negative was it was abit loud but was only due to how busy the restuarant was.

While I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, I feel it's necessary to provide an honest account of my experiences at The Ivy. The ambiance, as always, is pleasant, and the staff are unfailingly polite, though regrettably inattentive. However, the true disappointment lies in the food, which remains consistently below par. For a restaurant of this calibre, one expects far more than the mediocrity consistently served. Moreover, there remains a rather disconcerting issue with their point-of-sale system. When the bill exceeds £100 (an easy feat for two), diners are required to enter their PIN, which then appears on the receipt as the "table number." This information is seemingly stored in a database, which raises concerns about security. The PIN is displayed, and with little effort, an unscrupulous individual could easily memorize the CVV code from the back of the card. I have raised this issue with management, but it seems this practice has persisted for years. It is perplexing why such a system remains in place, especially given the potential risks involved. In summary, while The Ivy may exude charm and grace, it falls significantly short in both its culinary offerings and safeguarding of customer data. A rather unfortunate combination, to say the least.

A wonderful impromptu visit to The Ivy Richmond with bar seating and a great mix of atmosphere, great friendly service from Harry and Martin who deserve a big shout out. My Steak Tartar & Truffle Fries didn’t disappoint, along with the delicious Ivy Rosè wine. Lovely also meeting Ines with her running the show. I look forward to returning soon!

Good night out. We did however get out right next to the disabled toilet. It is just not a great place to sit when you have come out for a birthday meal. I highly recommend the Ivy removes that table as it is not right. Also the Apple Tart dessert is off the menu. Gutted.

The decor is lovely and the staff very lovely and friendly, but in comparison to the Ivy in Brighton it was disappointing. The noise was horrendous we couldn't hear each other at all, it was that loud it made me feel anxious. The food was just OK, nothing special, I have had been in less well none establishments. Overall it was ok, I wouldn't return to this restaurant but I will still try out other Ivy's in other destinations, iam sure there are more special ones just like the Brighton one.

Came to the ivy at 945pm on a Monday with thr restaurant 80% empty and told the host me and my partner wanted just a couple of glasses of wine but no food since the place was empty suggested if we can have a table which he kindly obliged and seated us. When we were about to order the manager said no you have to sit at the bar only because this area is reserved for food and drinks. Which I can understand if it was a Friday and busy but this manager was extremely rude and was discriminating me because the colour of my skin for no reason what so ever especially when we were spending £40 for 2 glasses of wine. But his attitude stunk and he should never be in a position of a manger as he has zero hospitality skills in particular I have come to this restaurant many times before and spent tons of money. My advice would be go to Scotts far more classy place and respect their customers. The managers approach was horrendous. The senior management need take this seriously as I will be taking this further based on the discrimination and embaressment I felt after being seated to be moved. Would love to have the feedback from the headoffice.

On arrival myself and my mother were met with what can only be described as pure bewilderment. The lady at the front seemed almost offended by myself and my mother’s persons being there. At first I thought it may have been myself but as time went on it was obvious to see that she treated everyone incredibly differently to how she treated us. It is important to note that I had decided to take my mother out to celebrate my birthday and wanted a wholesome and kind environment for her. I highly suggest that she learn to smile or better yet take into consideration differences in people. What made us stay was our waiter Jacek. A kind, thoughtful, patient and caring server. Jacek you made a quality experience for myself and my mother you are truly and asset too The Ivy and should be appreciated and celebrated for you manner and attention to detail, thank you.

I booked this restaurant a while ago to take my son & daughter in law as they had never eaten here before. The food and service was amazing and very good value. Unfortunately it was disappointing as we were sat directly in front of the disabled toilet / baby change so had a constant stream of diners pushing past to enter the toilet. I complained to the waitress who was lovely by the way and she immediately took it up with the manager. He completely ignored us and didn’t even come over to apologise. I suggest in future that the table in question is removed so that others don’t experience the inconvenience that we did . Would I eat there again ? Only if I could guarantee a suitable table as our enjoyment was spoilt .

It was packed when we came in for our champagne lunch I was gifted. The staff was fast and attentive, but because it was so many people everywhere I felt like I was sitting in the lap of the person next to me and it was high volume of talking. A bit stressful especially with my social anxiety sometimes. Food was both good and not so good, the starter I chose was a burrata. The mashed peas wasn't my cup of tea but I suppose some people like it. Mashed peas has a weird grainy consistency and is not salty enough to accommodate the burrata. Classic juicy pesto is way better. The pine nuts on top was not necessary, they tasted like nothing. The "cracker" on top was hard to chew and old rubbery. The burrata itself was dry and more like a mozarella, I've had loads better in for example Ave Mario, Carlotta etc. The main was great and fresh, had pan fried salmon with creamed spinach. Yum. Desserts was not good, my wife had creme brulé and she was sad that the top wasn't cracking when she put her spoon through it. Very underwhelming. My dessert was berries with youghurt. The berries came straight from the freezer and was literally rock hard and like chewing ice. I was full at that point so I didn't complain because I didn't want the trouble of getting another dessert. The white chocolate sauce on top of the berries was great. All in all, if I'd paid the £120 for lunch myself I would have been quite unhappy with the standard of food served but was ok because it was a gift. The waiters was fantastic. Might be back to try dinner but I know many more places with a nicer atmosphere and food.

This evening, my family and I dined at The Ivy Richmond Brasserie Restaurant. The Ivy is our regular haunt, a place we visit quite frequently. We had made a reservation, and the table reserved for us was in an excellent spot. The wine( Pinot Grigio Blush)was superb, and the food was delectable. For the main course, we ordered Grilled Chicken Salad and lobster linguine which was truly exquisite. However, there was one issue regarding the details of the food deal that our waiter did not explain well.(It is worth mentioning that our waiter tonight did not display a friendly demeanor.) During our previous visit to Ivy, Vitorino was our waiter (I hope I have spelled his name correctly). He is a wonderful person who always takes great care of us. Although he was not our waiter tonight, he came over to greet us warmly. I must extend my heartfelt thanks to him for that.

Unfortunately had a poor experience here last week. Firstly I should say that we ordered from the set menu and the food was good at a very reasonable price. The restaurant was let down by the service. The staff seemed to be having difficulty with the table numbers as we kept being brought things we hadn't ordered, while our orders went to the table next to us. When it came to paying the bill we wanted to use a gift voucher we had been given. First attempt we were given the bill for the wrong table. Second attempt we were given back the voucher and advised there was £18 remaining without being able to check the bill (which we wanted to do because of all the confusion with tables). The waiter brought back the bill which he'd already paid using the voucher without checking with us. Unsurprisingly given the confusion during the service the bill included items the table next to us had ordered and therefore we had overpaid and needed that amount put back on our voucher. This seemed to be very complicated and required a lot of back and forth with different staff members wanting to give us some cash and some money on the voucher. After 20-25 minutes of initially requesting the bill the manager to his credit agreed to give us the money back in cash for the remaining money on the voucher and for the money we'd overpaid and was very apologetic. It was a shame as we enjoyed the food and would likely have come back if it weren't for the service.

We arrived at least an hour and half before closing, place was empty, meaning I saw no issues for us to be seated, we were just a party of 2, just my husband and me, this guy that greeted us just didn’t want to serve us, told us they were about to close… I mentioned they don’t close but in an hour and half… the guy disregarded us and walked away, literally, walked away, never felt more discriminated in my life, I’m a Venezuelan-born Spaniard/American and my husband a Venezuelan-born Italian, and the fact that he just walked away… he literally walked away… it felt sooo bad.

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 8 years and the service and food have always been exemplary. The staff greet you with a smile when you enter the restaurant and the waiting staff are always courteous and professional. The food regularly changes in line with the seasons but some staples remain on the menu. Of all the food Iv tried the standard has always been very high. I have however only ever tried one dessert there which is the creme brûlée which honestly speaking is the best I’ve ever had. Smooth and delectable. It really is sensational. Highly recommended for a great dining experience.

I’ll start by acknowledging that we booked a table at 10pm on a Monday (we had all been at an AGM prior, so all sober, this was not some drunken barrelling in situation), which is pushing it a bit, and on top of that we booked for 3 and ended up being 5. That being said, we booked the table online so if a late table was going to be a problem, then the bookings should have been closed. Our experience was truly, beyond words, shockingly bad. It’s the next day and I remain in a little bit of a state of disbelief about how poor the service was, particularly given the number of staff working compared to the number of tables in the restaurant - there was really no excuse. It was such a comedy of errors that I can’t outline every single problem, so here is a sample: - I ordered a glass of Champagne with my starter from two different members of staff on 4 different occasions and it took 10 minutes to arrive. Yes, one single glass of champagne required that level of following up. What doesn’t help is that I got told it was on its way only to moments later see the waitress putting it thru because clearly the manager from whom I’d originally ordered hadn’t (y’all, I ran restaurants for 10 years, I know what’s going on) - My cod was overcooked and so dry I could barely swallow it - We ordered port with our cheese, got presented with a pudding wine saying there was no port in the fridge and this was the closest they could offer. Port doesn’t go in a fridge, one of our party could see it on the shelf quite clearly. How can you have staff not knowing the difference between Port and pudding wine?! Port is not a particularly fancy drink. Also by the way we ordered the port at the same time as the cheese and we had finished the cheese by the time they worked out apparently not having port. Again this is absolutely basic hospitality 101 and the staff were clearly clueless In the end, we ordered separate drinks, which took another age (the bar service all up was absolutely appalling, and every time I looked over it seemed they either didn’t know what they were doing and/or moving at something resembling a glacial pace), and then the manager had the nerve to usher us out the door! We would have been done and dusted had anyone in that restaurant managed to muster up something approaching decent service! To add either insult to injury or hilarity to stupidity depending on your point of view, I told the manager at least twice that the service wasn’t great, and still the bad service continued and THEY STILL INCLUDED SERVICE ON THE BILL!!!! That’s what really tops it off for me, the complete lack of acknowledgment of how utterly useless they were being despite being told?! Not an apology, not an offer of coffee, not…improvement in the service?! It sort of blows your mind if you think about it. All up, I’d say steer clear and go next door to Megan’s or down the street to Scott’s if you’re after dinner. Sod it, go over the road to Five Guys and you’d probably have a more enjoyable hospitality experience. PS: had anybody made any effort to acknowledge what we were telling them and our generally obvious frustration, I probably wouldn’t have found myself posting this review but clearly the staff don’t listen to customers when they’re told directly.

Service was polite and not intrusive. Food is very tasty and has sufficient amount even for the set menu.Will definitely be back and recommend it.

2024: A year later - today's brunch was spoilt by appallingly slow hot and cold drinks service. Only one person behind the bar from 10:20-12:00 serving a full restaurant, and unsurprisingly he was overwhelmed. Twenty minutes for a pot of tea....fifteen for coffee. Otherwise food excellent. But guess what sticks in ones mind...... 2023: Superb surroundings, excellent friendly service, food just misses being top-class. My cheese soufle was as to be expected but lacked a wow factor. My shepherds pie was OK but I would order something else next time.

Was unfortunately disappointed with my experience here. The food was average, for the price point I would’ve expected it to be much better. I had the eggs Benedict and the muffins were overcooked - way too crispy/hard. Our starter took over 25mins to come out, when people around us who ordered far later than us had their food served first. They had clearly forgotten about our order, which was confirmed by the waiter when it eventually came. Positives: The interior is really nicely decorated, and the staff were lovely.

Afternoon Tea, this was lovely as most things are in the Ivy, there were a few items that didn't meet the usual standards and expectations of the experience. We noticed the tables around us were given a different service to us, for example seated after, ordered after us and recived the same afternoon tea before us. We also were not talked through the tea, like the tables around us. Overall nice.

Was enjoying the initial experience and all was good, as soon as I didn't order bottled water. I got cold shoulder. Drinks came to the table waitress assumed that GNT was mine and soft drink was my wife's. Actually opposite. Same when the main course came they assumed I was having fish and chips. Wrong again. Then I paid my bill with a gift voucher and some guy came and shouted that I paid with voucher and a balance in cash. Not good at all, still left a customery tip of 10%. Not sure if this review will help. I'll wait and see. Thank you

I’ve been here loads of times. Such a friendly team. But this time I had lunch. As a meat eater I wouldn’t normally think to come here, but the food was excellent. I had the Bollywood dog, a vegetarian hot dog. Very filling and full of flavour. I bet I was more satisfied than if I’d had a meat dish. I highly recommend this place. They’ve weathered various storms like Covid and everything else and they deserve to do well, because they are so nice and accommodating, with an interesting offer in an area of Twickenham that has really struggled to do well over the years. A top notch pub/cafe for a wide broad audience :)

A lovely spot for brunch in Richmond! 🥰 Peggy Jean is a restored former Jesus College Oxford barge, just on the richmond riverside, on the river thames 💕 we ordered sweetcorn fritters and dirty daisy, which were recommended by the waiter 👍

When it comes to settings, this location is an absolute winner. Located close to Richmond Bridge and on the river bank with lots of outdoor space and seating (the inside is large as well), it has a fabulous family friendly feel. The service is prompt and polite, even though the staff were getting the barbecue area ready for an Instagrammer. (They discounted our bill due to a very small amount of disruption.) They will show you the different cuts of beef if you ask. I had the spiral cut ribeye, which I have never had before, and it was delicious! We had a variety of sides to share (I would recommend the Mac and Cheese!). My cheesecake was delicious! It’s a great occasion venue for couples and families.
