Gaucho - Richmond in Richmond upon Thames

Wonderful place! Located at the river side. Clean and spacious with both indoor and outdoor dining area. Set lunch is worth to try. Appetizers look Gorgeous but the main course is a bit small portion. Caring services and must try the dessert! Lovely place for lunch and dinner.

location , service, drinks all 5 star, starters , sides all great. unfortuntately the quality of beef was not up to standards. filet mignon had a very gamey taste and not appetizing at all so 3/4 was left on the plate, rib eye was decent. There is very little information on the steak's origin besides argentina which has huge variations in quality where as top quality steak house would tell you the region or even the farm it comes from. still a nice restaurant to visit but martin williams could be spending more time on sourcing better quality for the price he is charging

Visited this restaurant recently on an absolutely gorgeous day! We didn't get front seats by the river but that was expected as very busy so we appreciated the views and people on the terrace at the back. Service was good friendly and on time drinks were wonderful and food was tasty!!! An all rounder for sure!!

The location on the Thames was really beautiful. The restaurant is very modern with a large terrace. The service was good and friendly. The food was ok for the price. In my opinion the meat was a bit streaky, but maybe I should have known that (because I have no idea about the different cuts). The brownies were a bit rubbery though.

Lovely restaurant in a great location on the river. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the chips were delicious! Oksana was a fantastic host, was super friendly and efficient.

Great value (set menu) and superb service

I visited here for my birthday back in January and the service from start to finish was incredible, they made me feel so special because of my birthday and were so kind and generous. The food and drinks were perfectly delicious. Our waiter and the manager working that day were amazing. My mother and I left there very happy. Thank you for a wonderful time. 😊

Era un hermoso día soleado cuando paramos aquí para un almuerzo tardío. Entorno perfecto en Richmond a lo largo del Támesis. Estábamos sentados fuera y teníamos una hermosa vista del Támesis. El personal era muy amable y acogedor con nosotros y nuestro perro. La comida era genial, sí un poco en el lado caro, pero estás en un entorno hermoso, en un restaurante con clase que tiene excelente calidad de comida. Tuve un delicioso filete y el marido una excelente hamburguesa con patatas fritas. Todo delicioso y no dudaría en recomendar o volver a visitar. La ventaja añadida fue que es muy agradable para los perros también.

Our waiter Maria was great but very slow service... We asked for a bit of mayo( to a different waiter) and it never arrived, only towards the end of the meal nearly finished we asked again but by the time arrived we had already finished all the food! We also ordered a mojito and never again ! Was tasteless, hardly any alcohol lots of ice not flavour at all was like almost drinking water! We will stick to wine or beer next time!

I love the setting, a big terrace by the river, under a huge tree. The meat is good (don't get creative, this is a meat restaurant), the prices are medium-high, and the service is good. During week days they have a Lunch deal that is good value for money.

Since you asked for the review, here is my experience: the so called Argentinian Stake house is a totally scam! The burger doesn’t have flavour, it doesn’t even taste like meat. I could feel more the lettuce and catchup flavour than meat, which was also dry! The Yerba Mate Jasmine drink tastes like cheap Prosecco with sugar and was warm than tea. To put a cherry, the sold the chicken main dish followed with two sides and charged us for the side, which was not mentioned during the order! This place is a total SCAM!

The waiters and staff were excellent and very knowledgeable about the meats and all the meals. The non alcoholic cocktails were delicious. The beef tacos were a great starter. I thought the sirloin steak and the fries were a great choice for the main course and the Mille feuille was a dessert worth trying. They even brought out a candle for a birthday, which showed the friendliness of the waiters and restaurant. Great try for any occasion or nice meal

Special mention to Melvin, our waiter. I have dined in some of the finest restaurants in London and the service/attentiveness provided by Melvin is probably the best I’ve received to date. A true asset to Guachos. Visited Gauchos this afternoon (02/03/25). We originally ordered the never ending Sunday roast but as we had arrived quite late in the afternoon our waiter (Melvin) informed us that they had run out of some of the meats so we opted for the normal roast instead. The food arrived very quickly and whilst the potatoes and veg were quite nice, the meat wasn’t to my taste as it was rather chewy. Melvin kindly informed us that he could get a leaner cut from the kitchen but we decided to send the plates back and choose something else from the menu. Second go round we went for the sea bass ceviche and prawn al ajilo as starters and rump steak and chimichurri chicken as mains accompanied by various sides. I also had a Banana Pecan Old fashioned and pinot noir. All were delicious. Melvin then offered us desert on the house and when presented with the bill I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had given us a discretionary discount which I thought displayed excellent service as it wasn’t something I requested nor expected. Top marks and credit to Melvin for turning what could have been a slightly disappointing experience into a positive one.

Agata was absolutely amazing, incredible service and made my husband, my dog and myself extremely comfortable. This is the hidden gem in Richmond.

The winter lunch offer is great. Delicious food and really lovely staff.

Nice location. Pleasant service. The real problem was the quality of cooking of the food. We ordered steak & chips for both myself and my wife. Requested medium rare but the steak came dry and severely over cooked on the outside about 1.5 cm into the meat and then a small centre portion was raw. It was like the steak had been taken from a cold fridge straight to the pan and tried to cook it on a high heat, (basic recipe for disaster). The chips were limp and soggy and extremely greasy, (again putting chips into oil which is not hot enough will produce this disgusting result) If you fancy a great steak and chips I would give this place a wide berth unless they've had a change of chef.

We visited last week Wednesday for an anniversary meal. The entrance was a little hard to find but once inside we couldn't fault anything. The service was great, the food delicious, maybe one of the best meals we have had in the past couple of years. The bill when it arrived was reasonable for the quality of the food! And we had a complimentary desert for our anniversary (which had to be dairy free) which was a lovely touch. We are looking forward to returning!

I ordered a Sunday roast and a birthday cake when making a reservation on OpenTable three days before my visit, but I never received a response. On the day of my visit, the Sunday roast was sold out. Since my husband had been looking forward to it, his birthday ended up being a disappointing one.

Terrible Valentine's Day Experience: The restaurant has a prime location by the river, with easy access by various modes of transportation. We booked the Valentine's Day menu two weeks in advance for £110, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and wine to share. We arrived early for drinks, but there was no room at the bar, and the outdoor waiting area was uncomfortable, with the heat constantly shutting off. The restaurant was packed, which negatively impacted the experience. The tables were too close together, and the noise was excessive. The quality of the food was disappointing. The steaks were bland, and the chimichurri sauce didn't meet expectations. We were charged an excessive price for an extra steak, £52.50 instead of the additional £10 we expected based on the Valentine's Day menu. It was even higher than the price on their regular menu for 100g less. The stubborn manager didn't acknowledge the error in the menu and only offered a 15% discount after a long discussion. It was like arguing with a mule who discriminated by asking about our origin. The best thing, and what keeps this place afloat, is the good service from the waiters and waitresses.

Really happy with the service here and the food was delicious. It was a special occasion and a very busy night but despite how packed the place was, we experienced no delays or issues whatsoever. The staff here are clearly very hardworking and attentive. Our waitress (a blonde lady, I think her name was Roxana) was just brilliant, super polite and fun to chat to. Server at the door (Anita) was very welcoming and friendly as we came in too.

We have heard nothing but good reviews about this restaurant, so we wanted to give it a try for Valentine’s Day as it seemed the right occasion and decided to go with the valentines set menu. The decor and look of the restaurant was stunning, however the service and food did not match. The service was very slow and was sat for quite a while waiting for our food, once the food did arrive we was shocked to find the starter was to share, which definitely was not enough for one person so ended up ordering another starter off of the standard menu. The steak we ordered was exactly the same, barely enough for one person and even though ordering it medium well it came out near enough rare. I’m not a fussy person when it comes to it but for a steak restaurant you would think they would be able to get the steaks cooked to what you have asked for. The shining part of the night was the desert and even that was to share, so while leaving still rather hungry and quite disappointed, for how much I had paid for the evening I don’t see myself coming back. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Welcoming, accommodating, friendly, informative and delightful

Overall good experience. The red wine needed to be cooler (room temperature was too warm for that Malbec). We had the large 900gr t-bone which was good but undercooked and like warm when it arrived.

Valentines meal out with partner had driven over a hour. Never been before but attended due to word and mouth. Both me and my partner ordered steak and 3 sides to share. food looked marvellous but tasted the complete opposite. steak had no flavour at all broccoli was completely frazzled and over cooked even the chips was disappointing. For £160 without any alcoholic beverages we definitely expected more. Left leaving disappointed, and unsatisfied tastebuds.

February month! 2 degrees outside and we got seated outside. As we are celebrating Valentines Day I am wearing a dress and heels. How can you possibly explain that in February a restaurant will seat you outside??! I’m so so disappointed. Never coming back. They just wanted to make money out of Valentine’s Day and didn’t care at all to seat the customers outside in cold. I pre booked my table a week in advance. SHOCKING!!!

We had a wonderful time at Gaucho’s in Richmond this evening. The food was phenomenal and the service provided by Anton and Ales was superb. Steaks and burgers were perfectly cooked and the sides were very delicious. Everything was absolutely perfect and the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. We will 100% be coming back on our next trip!

Not what it used to be. Service was excellent but couldnt make up for the dry sea bass, cold broccoli etc, worse dessert. Not worth the price even after a discount to make up for poor food. Sadly - Dont think we will come back …

Lunch outside in the rain before watching the rugby at Twickenham but under cover with heaters which worked well, service was outstanding and friendly, and food and Guinness were delicious. Nice touch putting previous week’s match on the TV to get us in the mood. Thank you!

Anton was the absolute star of the night. His attentiveness, warmth, and deep knowledge of the menu transformed our meal from simply dining to a truly special occasion. Not to mention, the lovely steak and sides. We will definitely be returning.

Gaucho is our favourite place for a special meal. The service is always completely faultless. The staff are friendly, thoughtful and welcoming. The food is fantastic as are the cocktails! And you simply can’t beat the location, in summer or winter it’s the best place in Richmond to sit,eat and watch the world go by.

We went to Gaucho Richmond for the two course winter set lunch menu. We tried the beef tacos and prawn chicharrons for starters and the rump steaks for mains. We also got a complimentary cheesecake for our anniversary which was lovely. Our whole experience from the time we got there until the end was outstanding. Our server Anton was friendly, polite and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will return soon

Stunning location, set right on the Thames with a beautiful riverside walk coming into the restaurant. Glen, the manager, gave us a warm welcome, and Oksana made my wife’s birthday dinner absolutely perfect with her amazing service, going above and beyond to explain to us what was halal compatible and more. We had some incredible food and it was a night to remember. The restaurant is on the quieter, more cosier side of vibes, which was perfect for us.

Pleasant company made for a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. Great service and atmosphere.

We came back to celebrate our anniversary of getting engaged (we came here last year too) and it’s only gone from strength to strength. Valdis was incredible and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome, a truly amazing member of the team 10/10. The manager also made sure to come over and interact with us which was a really nice personal touch, makes everyone feel extra welcome. They gave us a lovely compliment dessert as well for the celebration - Valdis even picked it specially after I said I was very full so he chose a light and fruity pudding which was absolutely perfect! They truly anticipated everything we needed and had it there before we had to ask. Can’t wait to come back

This was such a lovely venue to have a relaxed lunch. The whole experience was welcoming and unhurried. We had a complimentary glass of bubbles - such a lovely touch. We all chose steak for our main - and it was delicious. The starters looked terrific and so well presented. I had the gorgeous pancakes for my dessert. There was a good range of sides and a clear wine list. The facilities were excellent - the toilets clean and well stocked. There was a friendly but not intrusive service, even a follow up check by the smartly suited young man. We felt valued from the coat check to the warm goodbye. We'll be back in the summer to enjoy the lovely terrace.

I took my mother here last Saturday to celebrate her birthday, and we both were overwhelmed by the level of kindness in this place. The food cannot be beaten, but above this, we were looked after the entire night by a young man called Anton, who did not fail to make my mothers birthday meal run as smoothly as possible. From his attentiveness to our food preferences to a smooth organising of a birthday dessert on the house, this service truly left my mother to feel special and me grateful. As someone who is also expecting, their selection of mocktails did not disappoint! Thank you again Gauchos and a special thank you to Anton, we will see you again soon!

My wife and I really enjoyed the food, the service was fantastic and the views and atmosphere were lovely. Great to see it's a dog friendly venue so we'll definitely be back in the near future with our 2 boys and our 4 legged friend.
