Gaucho - Richmond in Richmond upon Thames

The Sunday roast was amazing, and our host, Liam, was outstanding. He was attentive and made sure that we had a top-up on our roast. His timing for each course we had was impeccable. It was the best customer service I've experienced in a long time. I will definitely visit again because the customer service was 10/10.

I have been to Gaucho in Manchester and Leeds and this one beats hands down. The location is lovely on the river and the food was sensational. The steak was cooked to perfection and the staff were amazing. We would definitely return!

I was here with my friend, we were greeted so warmly by Caitlin who showed us to our window view table. I had the rump steak with mash potatoes, food was delicious. We got a hanky pinky which was amazingly. Our table host was absolutely amazing and the service was greatly appreciative. We will definitely come again, thank you so much

Ambiance and service was up to par. The food was not for the price

We all absolutely loved the legacy menu. Such good value for 3 courses with no less quality than the main menu. The picsana steak was phenomenal, starters and pudding were also excellent. Service was friendly and attentive with a great restaurant ambiance. It’s a return visit for us and I’m sure we’ll be back again.

Absolutely incredible experience! This steakhouse exceeded all expectations from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a special night out. The service was impeccable—our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. Now, the food: hands down the best steak I’ve ever had. Cooked to absolute perfection, it was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The sides were equally outstanding, especially the creamy mashed potatoes and the perfectly seasoned vegetables. The wine selection was impressive, and the pairing suggestions elevated the meal even further. This is a must-visit for any steak lover. Worth every penny!

Very good restaurant with an excellent and well priced legacy menu which I thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend the salmon cerviche and the steak. The only issue is that the service was not to standard and the ordering process is cumbersome but all in all it was great.

Excellent shop in a very nice location on the banks of the Thames. Friendly staff, quick service and the food, the best we ate in London. Grilled exactly as we asked for it. Very pleasant experience.

Je suis toujours surpris de voir les Anglais payer aussi cher pour des plats que nous pouvons trouver à 18 € en France. J'ai testé le Sunday Roast menu pour 27 £ (32 €), et franchement, quelle déception ! Pour ce prix, vous avez deux fines tranches de picanha trop cuites et des légumes rôtis. Et quels légumes ! Des feuilles de chou, des carottes et des pommes de terre... Tout ça pour ce prix-là. Vous payez plus pour le cadre que pour ce qui vous est servi. Cela me conforte dans ma décision d’aller de moins en moins au restaurant, d’acheter de très bons produits et de cuisiner chez moi !

I booked lunch pre rugby test match. The venue was very busy, but in a good way. It was incredible how the staff seamlessly handled a venue full of excited rugby fans. Steak was perfect, sides were tasty and sommelier’s wine recommendation spot on. Service was friendly, efficient and professional. I will certainly be returning.

Went for dinner for two, and from start to finish the service and hospitality was amazing. Valdis, our host, knew their menu and drinks lists well and gave detailed explanations of everything when asked - and made very sensible recommendations too; he introduced himself as a host rather than waiter, which I thought was weird at first - but accurately described how well he looked after us rather than just taking our order. Beef was incredible, side dishes weren't teeny-tiny, and topped off with the service it was a lovely 'nice dinner out'!

Truly wonderful experience went for a work night out and was treated with the finest of care shall definitely be returning for future events. Hats off to the team and staff for the service😋🍸🍹

First went to Gauchos in Picadilly in 2007, was once my favourite steak restaurant having visited various branches. No longer the case unfortunately.

I went to this restaurant a week ago. I never experienced such bad service/food, specially not at the price they charge. It was a special occasion and I was left embarrassed for bringing my partner there after hyping it up. Four times the servers came over to our table with the wrong order. We had to constantly flag the staff to place any orders for drinks or food. The steaks were not well-cooked (this is meant to be a steakhouse), little seasoning aside from the side sauces (which were good at least!). It’s a shame, as I used to come to this restaurant some years ago and it was great, but not worth the price at all for what we got in this instance and I will not be coming back.

Lovely staff so friendly and helpful. Had the Sunday roast. I've never had roast beef served that pink before but it was delicious as the meat was such good quality. The seasonal veg was amazing. Food quite salty but I like it like that so no issue. The waiters were very attentive bringing more gravy when we ran out and checking we were ok. 13% gratuity on the bill but this didn't matter as the service was brilliant and we had a voucher to use. Due to the size of the venue and it being busy quite a lot of background noise so hard to have a long conversation. A real treat for us today and it didn't disappoint.

When it comes to settings, this location is an absolute winner. Located close to Richmond Bridge and on the river bank with lots of outdoor space and seating (the inside is large as well), it has a fabulous family friendly feel. The service is prompt and polite, even though the staff were getting the barbecue area ready for an Instagrammer. (They discounted our bill due to a very small amount of disruption.) They will show you the different cuts of beef if you ask. I had the spiral cut ribeye, which I have never had before, and it was delicious! We had a variety of sides to share (I would recommend the Mac and Cheese!). My cheesecake was delicious! It’s a great occasion venue for couples and families.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Food and service were all excellent. Smiling, professional service from entry through to departure, with special mention of Zak who was attentive without being intrusive. Happy to recommend.

I Loved the Spaghetti and the caramel ice cream was surprisingly tasty. The steaks the others ordered were cooked perfectly.

Food was excellent, although of course everything was cooked a little rarer than expected. Wine was exceptionally good.

My fav place in Richmond. But tonight bitten all previous nights. My daughter had a birthday and Aljosh, the manager at Richmond brunch, got her flowers. They treated us to champagne and dessert. It was just amazing, she has left the restaurant feeling super happy. Best night!

Location is ideal, decor is immaculate, and the food is indescribable. The best aspect of our evening was the service, we were served by Isabella who was attentive, patient and so helpful. Such high class service really made the evening perfect. We will be back!

Visited with my soon to be husband on Tuesday and was truly delighted by the whole experience. The staff were attentive and engaging with us both from beginning. The food was phenomenal especially the scallops. I do hope to return in the future provided of course we arnt divorced by then.

We had a wonderful family reunion at lunchtime. My uncle travelled from Ireland just for lunch, we all enjoyed the food, wine and cocktails. Our only disappointment was that the cookie dough dessert was not on the menu.

Meat was tough and expensive. It’s a pretty place and area, but for steak there are better places.

Went for a late lunch on a Sunday to celebrate my partner’s birthday. We had not been for some years but the steaks were still as excellent as ever. The service was very efficient and there was a pleasant atmosphere of being reasonably busy even in the middle of the afternoon. We had thought of having a main and desert but were a bit disappointed in the selection of deserts so chose to share the Argentinian sausages as a starter, which was good. Large wine list and selection of cocktails. This place is expensive but good.

We were seated outside on a unusually warm evening on Saturday. Service was excellent. I’d previously been slightly reluctant to book due to poor TA reviews regarding the service but it was faultless from start to finish. Our waiter was friendly, professional & efficient & very knowledgeable about the cuts of meat. He also recommended 2 excellent bottles of wine. Food was very good. My husband didn’t think the steaks were amazing but enjoyed the meal. The ceviche, as one of the starters, was superb.. Wonderful atmosphere. However, I’d informed the restaurant on booking by telephone the evening was to celebrate my husband’s birthday. This was confirmed by the restaurant manager on arrival who asked which member of the party was celebrating a birthday. Not one person came to wish him a happy birthday which I thought was rather poor. The bill came to over £600 for 4 of us which is a lot. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening though & would return when back in Richmond..

The Good: - Service and staff were excellent. - Location on the river is great. - Menu and bar choices are strong. The Not So Good: - Food not as tasty as competitors (Blacklocks, Hawksmoor etc) - Steak ordered Med Rare. Came Rare. Went back and seared. Kinda spoiled it. Especially at £115 for 700g (c.briand). - Empanads (starters) were average. - Too much salt. A final observation, and not something the venue can control, is that the clientle, being it Richmond, means everyone was dressed very casually. So if you want a 'get dressed up meal' you might feel a bit out of place here. However for a lunchtime or mid-week a good spot for a drink and some decent food.

I love visiting Gaucho Richmond. It has such a lovely atmosphere. Service staff is warm and very polite. Summer menu was good. Lomo a la Milanese could be bigger, it was small and a bit overcook. But overall experience was so nice.

It’s an expensive steak, but well worth the money. Consistent in execution and quality meat. Definitely rate Gaucho as one of the best steak houses in London

Incredibly attentive service today from Anton, really, really appreciated his attention to detail and such warm attitude! Fantastic steaks, Sunday roasts and wine recommendations.

This was the best meal we had on our Paris/London trip. The location is right in front of the water. Our waiter, Valdis (sorry,may have spelled it wrong) was amazing. He took his time recommending my wife and cocktail after asking her what type of liquor she liked. She did not like Gin, but he recommended a Kiwi with a Gin cocktail that she absolutely loved. We ended up ordering a Provolenta as an appetizer, which was delicious. After explaining all the cuts, we ended up sharing a 500g (about 17.6 oz) ribeye. The meat was tender, juicy, and delicious with a perfect cook. It even had that real grill taste. Don't let the picture fool you. It was a big, 1" thick steak. The sides were delicious as well. This restaurant makes all their sauce in-house. The cows are all grass fed, and you can taste the difference. They even care about the environment by planting trees to help offset the carbon produced. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Excellent place, food and staff

Everything was good, but in my opinion it was a bit expensive.

Overall we were impressed with this restaurant. Great ambience, lovely location, friendly, courteous staff and clearly a lot of effort has gone into designing their offer. However, it was let down by one of the steaks that was supposed to be medium actually being rarer than another that had been requested rare. Yes, we should have mentioned it at the time, but that would have resulted in a delay in eating for one of our party while a new one was prepared and we all wanted to eat together. Other than this small issue, it was a great experience and will definitely be going back!

Sat down with our baby pram and dog for lunch and had two steak salad, firecracker chimichurri, spinach and fries. The service was excellent, big thank you Valdis! even brought out some steak for our pooch. Really nice gesture!

Great birthday meal for my dad here. Our dog was given steak and we were given a birthday treat for desert. Everyone left happy! Thanks Nathan for making us feel attended to and looked after, plus all the other staff who were all also helpful.

First time trip to Gaucho this evening. I wanted to check it out prior to booking a birthday night out later in the week. Shown to our table outdoors but we asked if we could sit inside which was no problem at all. We also had my dog with us and they were very accommodating about that. We were given a table at the far end of the restaurant and were offered still or sparkling water. We had to wait a while for a staff member to reappear to order a beer. A waiter then introduced himself to us and told us he’d be looking after us. He was informative about the steaks but made it very obvious he was tired and didn’t want to be there (on 3 occasions) eventually I told him that we weren’t tired and we were ready to enjoy ourselves but our bubble had pretty much burst by this time 😏. We had Wagyu burgers, saving our treat of fillet for the birthday dinner. They were fine - warm, not hot, delivered very, very quickly which was the only time we didn’t have to wait which made us wonder if they were pre-cooked - nothing wrong with them at all but nothing special either. We were then given desert menus but after another 10 minutes of feeling like we’d just been stuffed in the corner and forgotten about we gave up and went to the door to ask for our bill. I’m so disappointed as I’ve wanted to go to Gaucho for such a long time but it was clear the staff member couldn’t be bothered and there was no atmosphere whatsoever where we were sitting. Back to the drawing board for the birthday night. 😔

Always enjoy Gaucho Richmond great staff, lovely decor & delicious food. Love that we can take our small dog with us too. We popped in for Sunday Roast the beef was served pink and juicy, great Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes & gravy. The accompanying veg of carrots & greens was a little underdone but still tasty.

A brilliant place for a special meal. We had a great Sunday lunch sitting on the terrace- fantastic riverside location, friendly and efficient service and good rare ribeye steak and wagyu burger. As we had booked for a special occasion we were greeted by a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival, which was unexpected and a super nice touch. I'll certainly come again perhaps to treat my parents or for someone's birthday as it does feel like a nice treat.

For the atmosphere the location is lovely next to the river and has a, nice seating area in the outside. The steaks however were okay for the price. Under-seasoned and of the ones we ordered some were overdone some were underdone. The staff however did re-cook one steak which was in our opinion undercooked. In regards to the service, this is where they can improve, whilst our waitress was nice enough the hostess on entry we found uninviting (boarding on rude). For the price there are far better steaks in London...

Absolutely brilliant the food was amazing the staff attentive and our waiter Renato was absolutely amazing. I will definitely return very soon . They even gave us a complimentary glass of prosecco and a dessert as it was my partner's 60th.

Excellent food with great service! The last time we were there was on our wedding anniversary and we've been looked after so well which was a very nice gesture!

Our ribeye steaks were brilliantly cooked and tasted great. We've had a few good steaks in our time but this was the best we've had. Great atmosphere and wine and the service was very attentive.

To start with the location of this restaurant is fantastic, sat just in the river bank it’s the ideal place, the internal decor is also great. Booked a table for 2 for a sibling catch up and upon arrival we were seated immediately, was about 5-10 mins late but never felt rushed at all. After being seated we were presented with the menus swiftly and we were also shown a plate of steaks available which was great and helped us pick what we wanted. All of the food came out at perfect timing and as expected from gauchos was tasty, the only let down for me was the steak itself, it wasn’t a great cut and was extremely fatty, when I usually visit the chain the steak is better quality. All that being said it was a great experience and I enjoyed the food. Definitely need to go back Other than t

Meal for my daughter’s birthday, it’s her favorite restaurant. We hadn’t had a great time the year before but decided to give it another go. Service was good as always, maybe a bit too over attentive, don’t really want to discuss what I’d done that day with the person seating us. We had the bread to start which we always enjoy, but the cheese bun this time was hollow? Anyway my daughter ordered the rump steak 300gm medium rare, my husband ordered a mini sampler and I ordered the sea bass, mainly because I was sick of ordering the chicken which is always dry! (I am not a red meat eater but make an exception to attend for birthday’s). Also two side orders of fries. My daughter’s steak when it came was too chewy, we asked if she wanted to change but she soldiered on. My husbands was over seasoned and too garlicky, he did offer to swap with my daughter, she gave him half her steak and had some of my husbands. Too be fair my sea bass was well cooked and well seasoned. The chops however were too salty, but nicely crunchy. The maitre d did come over and ask if all was well with the meal as I think he had spotted us having a conversation. My daughter explained her steak was not how she wanted it. Too be fair he understood and changed the order immediately and had a new one cooked which was gratefully welcomed. He also offered to change the chips but we had had enough by then. The second steak was much better, so all well. They then bought a cheesecake desert for her birthday treat on the house which was lovely.

Incredible meal, one of the best we’ve ever had in London. The starters (bread, olives and empanadas) all delicious. The steaks were beautiful and the sides of creamed corn and truffle Mac and cheese were to die for! Expensive but worth it for a lovely date night out. Nice service and great cocktails and wine too. food used to be really good as did service - gone downhill in recent years. came for a Sunday roast and got the unlimited option but they sat us right in the corner so weren’t attended on very often so didn’t get any extras. have come before and it’s been good so maybe was just a one off?

Our service was outstanding! The food was predictably good.

Food excellent. Fish carpaccio to start. Then empenadas which is pastry parcels filled with different fillings. Wagyu beef and chicken and chorizo. Beautiful. Champagne was chilled to perfection.

This was my first time at this Gaucho restaurant and the food and service was very good. We were lucky to get an outside table by the fabulous tree in the garden. All the steaks were cooked as ordered and bearing in mind the size of the restaurant this was impressive. Not the cheapest meal with every side an extra, including chips.

The lunch was a fund raiser for Triton Rugby, Simon Shaw was hosting. He spoke later with Geordan Murphy. It was a bit slow to find our seats but we were blessed with a glorious summer’s day. We were very well served by Alfonso, who was charming & excellent. We also met Adiba who was charm personified & it was clear that the restaurant likes its’ rugby promotions. The starter was good ( see photos ), the other choice was excellent ( Qoute Lionel ) who we met on our table. My steak was excellent & the excellent service is worth mentioning again. Would I return, I would if I could & the restaurant ‘buggy’ was in order. It was the lunch organisers that should have highlighted this option I believe! I would recommend a visit to Gaucho’s on the river, the setting was very good as well.

Great venue. Expensive but worth the money

Disappointing. Halal steaks were the only good thing in this establishment but here’s the deal. - the waiter didn’t know the menu. When I asked about a cheese type starter dish a friend told me to try, I couldn’t remember the actual name. I only saw it on the menu afterwards and then his comment was sorry, my bad. Had to ask several times for cutlery, napkins and salt and pepper. Pretty basic things were completely overlooked. The butterfly prawns - 3 measly prawns that didn’t appear to be grilled (tasted like it had intimate relations with the freezer), completely tasteless) I used to have Gauchos all the time entertaining clients in the City - it used to be good. Not sure if the Richmond one is an isolated case but it’s quite worrying when you are spending a small fortune here, to be confronted with these issues. Oh yes, my wife ordered spaghetti (recommended by the waiter), it was completely tasteless and bland. Wasn’t offered fresh ground pepper / any sprinkles of cheese ( pizza express offer that ), so steer clear from that dish. Overall, apart from the outdoor seating, give this place a miss, anything else apart from the steak, was very average.

We had a really good time at Gaucho Richmond. The food was amazing and our waiter Nathan really good.

The grilled prawns for starters were disappointing and the waiter was not very knowledgable about the various other starters. My husband and son pre-ordered halal steaks which were very good. The fries and mac & cheese sides were also good. There are very limited vegetarian options on the menu if you are someone who does not want steak like me. I ordered the spaghetti and it was very average. The service was also subpar. We had to ask and wait for cutlery for a while after our mains were brought to the table. Nobody took our drinks order either. Finally the ladies toilets were absolutely disgusting- no toilet paper in any of the cubicles, diapers spilling out of the bins etc. you would expect the toilets to be reasonably clean at a place like this but sadly they were not.

The food and the service was excellent, the atmosphere was great. The waiter Mounty was so friendly and helpfull and friendly. Will definitely be back soon
