A lovely spot for brunch in Richmond! 🥰 Peggy Jean is a restored former Jesus College Oxford barge, just on the richmond riverside, on the river thames 💕 we ordered sweetcorn fritters and dirty daisy, which were recommended by the waiter 👍

Lovely place but the service was below acceptable, we nearly walked out after waiting half an hour and served wrong dish twice.

Beautiful place to eat on a sunny day overlooking the river and Richmond Bridge. Service was quick, food was lovely and plentiful (we had the avocado on charcoal toast with added eggs), coffee and fresh fruit juices were perfect. Overhead heaters keep the outdoor seating area nicely warmed. We'll definitely return if we're ever in the area again.

Had a lovely brunch with the family, highly recommend. Cute place, tasty food, great service, beautiful location, amazing cocktails.

(4.5/5) Nice food and atmosphere. The food tastes good, but the portions could be bigger for the price. They can also customize dishes based on your preferences, like making it vegan by replacing eggs with halloumi. However, booking can be difficult. If you can't book online using your card, it's hard to reach them by phone. I tried calling several times over a few days, but they didn’t answer. The staff were cooperative and very nice. I would rate overall.

Beautiful location! Food was nice, unfortunately the vegetarian option wasn't available the day I dined there. So had to opt for a fish dish. Highly recommend for drinks though 👌🏻 staff are lovely and attentive

I came on a Saturday evening which I know is a downfall but I was not impressed with this place at all. I thought the service wasn’t great: food was given to us which wasn’t ours, no offer of a refill on drinks and no checking if everything was okay. My partner and I got the sharing steak and it was cold and fatty but the rest of the food was still warm which was strange. I just thought the price and the 13.5% service charge would make it worth it but sadly not. I understand we could’ve asked to take the service charge off but again no one asked if we thought everything was okay so there was never an opportunity. I was recommended this place due to the food which was okay, probably better as a breakfast/lunch place, I just think there is room for improvement during the dinner service.

Service was ok, but was not impressed with the food, only the fact that none of it was hot, had the bondi which looked good but the temperature of the food let it down. Probably won't visit again,

Another perfect summer evening on the Peggy Jean. Tasty Tapas, wine along with excellent hosting by Alicia & Elliot - thank you guys. My only comment re: the menu - I’m not a dessert lover and there is no cheese option! We don’t all love Tiramisu or Cheesecake (it’s been done to death!) Aside from this - it’s fabulous and I’m back this weekend!

Beautiful day. Long long wait. Service slow. Food ok, but not wonderful.

Very disappointing evening meal on Saturday 14/9/24. Cannot fault the setting. Food such a disappointment. Starters came very quickly and were lukewarm. I would guess they had been sitting around. We then waited over half an hour for main course. Waiter did apologise. When mine arrived (monkfish) it looked like a sloppy mess on the plate. Didn’t taste much better. Dessert was mars bar cheesecake… very strange concoction. Our table was booked for 6.30. At 7 pm it was getting chilly and we asked for heaters to be put on. Waiter said NO! They don’t go on for another hour. Should have left then tbh. Would not go back

Lovely food, good service and amazing atmosphere!

The boat itself is stunning, and the ambiance is lovely. However, the service was extremely slow, which took away from the overall experience. That said, the staff were friendly and pleasant. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable.

Delightful restaurant on a riverboat in Richmond. Amazing two course brunch with "bottomless brunch" option. Greeted promptly on arrival and shown to outside terrace seating as requested. Food choices arrived with great presentation and all tasted delicious. Loved the option of being able to serve our own mimosas, with Prosecco in wine cooler and orange juice served separately in carafe. Special mention to our FOH/server Favour. She made our visit very special. Thank you so very much.

Horrible service which completely ruins the experience. I’ve tried coming here 3 times and the experience was terrible each time. Thought I would try one last time and we literally heard the lady who welcomed us say she didn’t want to serve us while her manager was right there and I have no idea why she would say that in front of everyone when we only asked if we could have a table for drinks. Very disappointing as all the other chains are amazing

Best place for couples and adults searching for peace outside their busy world

Recently ate here as a group of 4 for a birthday. Originally when our friend tried to book a spot for a lunchtime, we could only get either 10.30 or 2.45. We decided on 2.45, but when we arrived we tried to get a table overlooking the river when the host advised there was none left. However, a few minutes later a table of four became available and didn’t bother to move us. The brunch prices are on average for central london, which is surprising for central. However, for me the reason I won’t ever be returning to this establishment was the service and food. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and it took a server 45 minutes to tell us this! The waiter did offer however 25% off our bill, which was to be honest I would expect, but it would’ve been good of them to advise us this before the 45 minutes. When the food did arrive however, my food was barely warm and some of the food items cold. By this point I didn’t send it back, as I was so hungry after waiting an hour for food. I have to say my husbands food portion (the bondi) was substantial, where as mine (dirty daisy) I could have easily eaten two portions of that dish!! Upon overseeing the restaurant, I can clearly see that the staff take more of an interest in the customers having the bottomless brunch, priced at £49 per head than other customers. So, my recommendations to you Peggy Green. If you want to offer a bottomless brunch, then that’s what you need to focus on, cause clearly you can’t accommodate for your average brunch customers and sort out your customer service.

Waited for a very long time. They focus more bookings than walk ins. Views are amazing so is the atmosphere, just the service let's this down . Very disappointed

I recently booked a table at Peggy Jean in Richmond to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it was the perfect choice for a memorable breakfast. Despite the rainy weather, the cozy and charming atmosphere inside the restaurant made for a delightful experience. The interior design is stunning, blending a nautical theme with a warm, inviting ambiance that really enhances the dining experience. The food was outstanding and arrived quickly. I opted for the Salmon Royal, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The pancakes were a real treat—perfectly fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, especially to try their bottomless brunch. Peggy Jean is definitely a gem in Richmond, and I highly recommend it for a special occasion or just a lovely meal out.

Beautiful setting, delicious food. Only downside was our waitress, she was all over the place. Firstly when we were seated by front of house we were given our menus and wine list, the waitress came over and asked what desserts we wanted when we hadn't even ordered drinks, when the food came out she was walking around with the plates and didn't know where she was going. I dont usually post reviews but this is so basic and proves how important attention to detail can really affect the overall experience. We would definitely return, just a comment for the restaurant to improve to make the customer feel valued.

Quite disappointing, we booked a month in advance and travelled all the way from central London to end up being seated inside at the only table that had no window and was next to the toilet. We asked for any other table but the staff didn’t care, or even try. Won’t be coming back, as the only good things about this restaurant is the atmosphere, which we didn’t get to enjoy. Very deceiving!

The evening was helped by the lovely weather but it was a perfect meal in a wonderful setting. Food was delicious and the staff welcoming yet professional. Namrata and Adrian were the perfect hosts assisted by some excellent staff. We’d have no hesitation in visiting again.

We booked for the brunch and it was an excellent location. The food and drinks were exceptional, with outstanding presentation and great flavors. The service was superb; all the staff members were extremely attentive, especially Petru and Adrian which is why I would definitely recommend and intend to return.

My friend and I tried to go here for a brunch. We walk up to the boat and there was a couple in front of us carrying their suitcases. The hostess denied the couple entry to the restaurant because they ‘didn’t have a reservation’ even though the restaurant was completely empty. Clearly the couple in front of us did not look ‘Richmond’ enough to be served. After we saw how they treated the couple we immediately turned back and decided not to give them our service. Trust the other one star reviews and would not give them your business. Go to Megan’s around the corner instead. Better prices, friendlier staff and welcoming of all

We liked the place and food with the views.. but food is very expensive and portions are so small.. in michelin star restaurants also they provide bit large portions.. it was like food tasting 🤣🤣🤣 for some reason my hubby affected with food poisoning after that. We did provide feedback to the restaurant but they never got back to us.

Very rude host at the door. Unwelcoming rude man standing at the door. He put us off with his rude behaviour at Richmond from eating in Peggy Jean. The same thing happened with him and my friends few days ago as well. Zero for customer service!!

This place is excellent. It even has a mini couch for a dog , the people are really nice Everything we tried was outstanding. We loved the Buddha Bowl. The children enjoyed in particular the fancy bacon roll — it has a bit of spice but it was perfect!

Not friendly for those with health/dietary issues. We have a party of 5 - one of which cannot participate in bottomless brunch for health reasons and told none of us are allowed to do the bottomless option. Huge disappointment

Very nice restaurant, inside a boat on the river Thames, with both inside and outside space. I was there with my husband and daughter and we had dinner outside, it was great, beautiful view of the river and Richmond, wonderful temperature. The staff was friendly and the service was perfect. We ordered meat dishes which were delicious and a bottle of Australian wine. We were happy. One of my favourite!

I have been to Peggy Jean for brunch in a Monday. No reservation made but we had a table within 5mn. Very nice atmosphere on a sunny day. We have been able to change our table after a couple left and were able to sit at a better spot, just by the river. We have ordered some champagne, cooked breakfast for myself and steak with fries for my friend. Very tasty food. Very good quality. The staff was very nice and pay attention to details. Overall very nice experience. We strongly recommend this place!

Decided to head here for brunch today and it was a fab choice. No queue and seated outside straight away. I had the Dirty Daisy plus halloumi fries which was very tasty and well presented my friend had the Healthy Start. Both highly recommended. Just be aware that they are luke warm at best as many component items such as the avo are served out of the fridge so cool down everything else. Is personally like my poached egg and halloumi fries to be warmer but it didn't spoil the meal. Staff are lovely and service was very efficient. Will defo be back.

AMAZING! ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL

I would love to give this place 5* all round as the food and the setting was excellent, but the service was woefully inadequate. The host that greeted and seated seemed like he really didn't want to be there. He was grumpy and curt and there was just no desire on his part to be welcoming to us or any other patron. We had to ask for service several times and when I asked a waiter for an extra glass for water, another waiter nearby had overheard, incorrectly assumed I was asking for something else and promptly told us we weren't allowed one. The service did get better after the food had arrived, but the initial experience was somewhat unpleasant. They could also do with playing music in the background.

A very popular place, reserve your table in advance especially if you want a table on the terrace. Service was very attentive. We had the prosecco brunch menu provided with our own bottle and a carafe of freshly squeezed orange juice. The waitress was attentive, giving us a time check towards the end. Food is tasty and fresh - very filling.

Stunning location! Walked in at 8am and we were the first ones there but it quickly filled up a little later. Food and service is good but nothing outstanding, I would go back for the vibes, it's so perfect for summer! :) For bike riders: nearest bike parking area is by slug & lettuce.

Looks like a nice place for cocktails. Wouldn’t suggest going for dinner. For a very simple menu, it got very complicated very quickly. Menu prices different to system prices, no longer doing food that is on the menu…. all of which seems to require a lot of people going back and forth to the table, and an expectation the customers should solve any problem that arises.

A pretty place with a nice atmosphere, but the food was NOT good - I had pancakes and a coffee, below average. And very overpriced too tbh

Went here for evening drinks and was told we needed to order via a QR code. Scanned the code, didn't work. Told one of the staff - he said connect to the WiFi, where you have to give your personal data and sign up for offers and communication (shock). WiFi still didn't connect. At that point the staff member said we could have a paper menu - why not offer that in the first place? Why force customers into using QR codes and having to connect to their WiFi? We asked for spirits and mixers specifically, staff member said that was fine. Sat down and looked at the menu - no sign of spirits and mixers - just cocktails, wine, beer, coffee and juices. At that point we gave up and left. Waste of time and not worth the hassle.

I wish I were writing a different kind of review for this restaurant, but after being very excited about visiting and having planned a trip here for weeks, it was truly disappointing. My partner and I went for brunch on a Sunday morning. The service was extremely slow, and the waitstaff were unfriendly and seemed rather unhappy. We were given water that was literally as warm as a mug of tea, with no ice. I asked for a fresh, cold bottle with ice, which nobody ever brought. When the food was served, we weren’t asked if we needed anything else. I wanted some salt and pepper, but I struggled to get a staff member’s attention to ask for it. The meal was extremely overpriced for a very average experience. My partner had the corn fritters, which were not filling at all; there was hardly any of it for over £15, and she was extremely disappointed. My dish was a bit more filling but, again, nothing special—hardly any flavor. The best part was the presentation. Such a shame, as the location is wonderful, and the restaurant itself is lovely, especially the decor. I would not go back for the food.

I recently visited at 4:15 pm on a Tuesday expecting a pleasant afternoon bite to eat & drinks with a friend visiting from abroad. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. Despite the boat having numerous empty tables in the shade, customers were inexplicably forced to sit in the scorching 30°C sun, we witnessed at least 8 customers walk off for this very reason, This was an uncomfortable start to an increasingly frustrating visit. The service was incredibly slow. The only option available at that time was tapas, which I wouldn't have minded if they hadn't taken nearly 45 minutes to arrive. When our plates were cleared, we ordered two more drinks, 35 mins later, no drinks and 3 different members of staff seemed clueless, By this time we decided to leave. Member of staff did agree to comp the first drinks & service charge but that’s a given when service is lacking. This is the second negative experience I’ve encountered at Peggy Jean’s and seems all the place has going for it's self is the decent location.

First visit here and it won’t be the last. We went on a very hot day but were given a perfect table in the shade overlooking the water. The menu is so good! Lots to choose from including brunch / lunch & light bites. A definite must if you are looking for a lovely venue, atmosphere and friendly attentive staff.

This place was an instagram-able spot. Enjoyed the food and the sunny Richmond vibe! The view remains to be the most satisfying thing. Although there would be 2 parties seated on the same couch as the place remains so might not be as favourable. But it’s an experience:)

We were here today for a celebratory graduation meal and had a lovely time. Firstly, the ambience on board is so inviting and well done - many an aesthetic picture was taken! Secondly the food was so delicious, would highly recommend with relatively fast service. We especially loved the dirty daisy, the bondi and the sea bass. The meals were well balanced and well priced paired with a great drinks menu. Our experience was also heightened by the great staff and service we received. One waitress in particular (so annoyed we didn’t ask for a name but she was wearing a lilac button up) helped us many times with taking group photos, even offering to take them without us asking which is so kind of her - we didn’t want to bother the staff but really did want group photos with all of us! She also surprised the graduant with a sweet banana bread - recommend for a sweet treat at the end! Overall, great experience here and would love to come again!

My brother and I came here for some respite after a difficult morning. I got a mint tea and he got a fresh orange juice. The drinks were fine - very overpriced but the view and company were just perfect. We sat for a while and relaxed and it was just the perfect.

Amazing people serving mouth-watering food and flavorsome drinks. One of my must visit destinations when in London. I’ve never felt so welcome by the whole crew and the whole service experience was pleasant and quick.

The worst customer service ever! Extremely rude staff and very argumentative. The iced latte (£4.50) that we ordered didn’t have coffee shots in, it was just milk! When we asked for an extra shot the waiter brought us an espresso and charged us an extra £3 for it. When we tried to explain that we simply needed an extra shot in the iced latte, the waiter started to argue with us.

The staff was very rude and argumentative which ruined the whole experience at such a nice spot. F yonv o The cafe latte had barely any coffee in it. The americano was muddy and when i added the soya milk it separated from the coffee.

Staff nice. We thought the menu lacked variety. Although the people that had the sea bass enjoyed their meal. Pricey unless you have the before 4pm menu which is reasonable. However, one of our party felt there could have been bigger portions.

Unprofessional and Discriminatory Behavior from General Manager! I traveled a long way for lunch but was denied entry because we didn't have physical IDs, despite explaining we are both over 31 and do not drink. We waited outside for 10 minutes and observed others, who appeared younger, being allowed entry. When I inquired again, the General Manager stated they had reservations and didn’t need IDs, which seemed inconsistent, unfair and raciest. He said he would check their IDs inside, ok BUT what if they didn’t have them? Will this manager ask them to leave? Does this make any sense? When I asked to speak to a manager, he said he was the General Manager and there was no one else to escalate the issue to. His handling of the situation was disappointing and unprofessional. I also called later and was given the wrong email address and told, "We are busy today." This added to the misleading and frustrating experience. I felt compelled to post this review so whoever is in charge can see how customers are being treated. I understand the importance of excellent customer service and maintaining a good reputation. The General Manager's unprofessional behavior suggests he might be better suited to a different role, as this job is undermining the hard work and dedication the owner’s have put into building this beautiful restaurant. I hope this issue is addressed appropriately to prevent further negative impacts on the business's reputation. I came before and no one asked me to show ID, so this whole experience doesn’t make any sense!

Shout out to the amazing waiter we had on our visit on 22/06 (we didn’t catch his name, but the loveliest guy with cropped white blonde hair and quite tanned) - he was the friendliest and made such a fuss of the dog we brought along with us, he really went out of his way. Thank you!!

Lovely staff and atmosphere but the food was not tasty. P.s. ordered Chicken Parmigiana, Mango and Pineapple Juice and Flat White. Chicken itself had no taste, would recommend marinating it beforehand. Fries was great, crispy and yummy. Juice was tasty and good. Flat white, too much milk and foam on top which is not flat white and the coffee was burnt.

My husband Abdoulie works as a chef at Peggy Jean , I don’t normally eat where he works but thought I would try it with a friend for lunch. The food was great big selection and presented nicely. We had a table over looking the Thames and we both felt as though we were on holiday. I didn’t tell my Abdoulie we were coming for lunch so didn’t get special treatment. If you want a lovely lunch this is the place to go in Richmond

Went to Peggy Jean for brunch, and it was absolutely delicious! Honestly one of the best brunches I’ve had. We ordered two of the dirty daisy’s, a mocha & a tea. The only negative I would give is that the tea wasn’t great. The atmosphere of the place was lovely, I had booked an outside seat but unfortunately it was raining that day so that staff kindly sat us inside. They do have umbrellas and heaters in their outdoor seating area, so you can sit there if you wish to do so - even in the rain!

It's such a shame; my partner booked this for my birthday and was really excited to take me as it was a surprise. I have never written a review on Google, but my experience upset and disappointed me. We had a bottle of wine, which a lovely lady served. We had two starters, one calamari and one padron peppers. The calamari was cold, and the sauce had a darker layer on, which looked like it had been out for a while; we didn't want to be difficult and complain as the service was good, so we ate it anyway. The table next to us complained about their staters as well. We then went ahead and ordered two chicken parmas, and they came out soggy, had water running out of it, and it was cold. My partner ate his because he didn’t like to complain as it was meant to be a special occasion, and he didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I couldn’t eat mine because it was cold and soggy again, and it looked like it had been microwaved... the table again next to us had the same problem. We got one of the free meals, but I refused to pay because I didn’t eat it. I just felt so bad for my partner as he was so excited for us to go here and had it booked for a surprise for me. Honestly, I wouldn’t spend your money here at all—especially not £ 90 for such poor quality food.

If you are on a diet, there are plenty of healthy options, and the ambience gives off a holiday vibe. However, if you don't have a reservation, you might have to wait for a table for up to half an hour.

Really pretty barge eatery. Very good breakfast of Smoked salmon royale and Bacon roll with poached eggs. The coffee was good but not very hot food or coffee.

Had an amazing experience at the newly reopened Peggy Jean Restaurant in Richmond, it’s an absolute gem! Reopened in March this year, this stunning location is perfect for watching sunsets. The food is exquisite – we savoured the calamari, crispy Australian banana prawns (incredibly flavoursome), monkfish barbecue skewers (perfect texture), and pan-fried sea bass with crispy Jerusalem artichokes (divine). The cocktails are top-notch, and the Mars Bar cheesecake is a must-try, not too sweet but utterly delicious. The service was great. Highly recommended!

Visited peggy jean today for lunch as the weather was sunny and perfect to enjoy a meal by river, the steak and fries were superb, and the ambient and treat from the stuff was just unbeatable, special mention to Petru who was very kind and cheerful and Alicia who was just such a lovely host, this rounded it all in an amazing time i will for sure be repeating soon. Also dont miss their coffe and desserts, mars bar cheescake is deffinitely a must! Was very to catch a riverview table but make sure to book yours in advance as the place seems to be (and i now understand why) very popular and busy at times. Thank you Peggy Jean!
