The Ivor Davies in Cardiff

Been here a few times and it's a solid pub. Service is generally good and food is nice. Tends to be an older crowd at least during the day. Their Stowford Press cider is a decent Strongbow alternative if that's your taste. Plenty of seating including an upstairs area. Food is good and bar staff are friendly. In 2024 it's still much the same, but the lower prices are even more apparent.

Great breakfast and pint in the Ivor Davies yesterday perfect runny egg, served by a lovely ginger lady who was very helpful and had a great chat. Would come here again, great staff and prices.

A couple of great nights out staff are great , cheap beer and top shelf whiskeys , great to catch up with the family looking forward to my next visit to canton, the men's toilet needs tissue and a good mop , the cleaning chart is not honest apart from that love the place

El Chile non carne estaba delicioso. El personal no era muy servicial. Pedí un whisky y una batidora. Cuando llegó ya pusieron la batidora, que era un no no ya que a los bebedores de whisky les gusta elegir cuánto entra. Siempre me han dado mi batidora por separado en todos los 20 climas en los que he estado. Cuando me quejé, la camarera fue muy grosera y no dijo nada que podamos hacer al respecto. Pedí ver al gerente, que nunca vino. Mal servicio en lo que podría ser un gran lugar.

It's OK but feels a bit rough and ready. Some guy was so loud, we all could hear his conversation. Not the best that day but sometimes it's great in there.

My local Wetherspoons. Very friendly atmosphere. Only one thing. They don't do steaks

I quite like this spoons, great for a Ramen and wings after a bike ride.

It's a bit too shabby, I think mostly people with low financial income come here. There are also electronic gambling machines available for those looking for hope in gambling. The only good thing for us was enjoying a cigar and coffee outside on a sunny day. It's a pretty cheap place. But they don't collect or clean the tables or anything. There is a lot of garbage on the ground and no one cares. There is no waiter. There is only a bartender and a cashier in the bar.

Can't fault it,3 mugs coffee and a small breakfast £3:29.

Food was terrible. We had the burgers which were over cooked and tasted terrible served with a few chips.

Went here for a family meal and I must say I am absolutely mortified on how we were treated I had my dog with us as we had just spend a lovely day out and wanted to end the day with a meal After arriving and walking straight through the pub with my dog to the garden smoking area Also I must state the pub was Very quiet getting a seat we decided on what we wanted for food and went to place an order After arriving back to the table not one member of staff had approached me to say dogs are not aloud on the premises While they brought our food out and my niece was tucking into her food the manager came to us to say that we couldn't stay on the premises with the dog (still in the garden being very quiet) and that she would give us boxes for us to pack up the food so we could leave. After asking if we could stay in the smoking area just to eat our food we were told no I must add nobody was even in the smoking area just me and my family .we were told we could drink our drinks but had to leave after that as they couldn't give us plastic cups I have never been so annoyed and it was all because I had my dog with me sat in a garden area. Very embarrassing as members of staff kept looking at us also members of the public were making it known they knew what was going on and couldn't believe know body had said anything to us before ordering food When asked for a refund I was told as there wasn't a problem with the food I couldn't get my money back Absolute joke will not be a returning customer My dog was not doing anything wrong and was very quiet I don't see what the problem was Also to add they have cameras outside so they would have been able to see us taking a seat with the dog before ordering the food absolutely humiliated !!!! Highly recommend the establishment. The company closed the Witherspoon pub I used in Worcester and I don't like the one they left open. The Ivor Davies brought back fond memories.

Great family meal over the weekend. Lovely food with fast service and friendly staff. Our waitress, Ani, was attentive and very polite. The atmosphere was made much better by such hospitality.

Decent food for the price. Great service from Annie. Always got a smile and is very polite. Busy today but food arrived within 10 minutes.

Service is standard. The building is a bit boring but it's not too busy in the day. Food is what you'd expect from spoons.

Great pub great staff lovely food very good nights out but the last month there s been no televisions on wats going on we like to see the latest news

I went here with some work colleagues with not very high expectations. I ordered fish and chips which came with a free drink, cost me a tenner, very reasonable I thought. Then the fish and chips arrived, God hep us. In fairness it was quickly served but the worse fish dish I have ever had. More like batter and chips as the fish was distinctly lacking. The mushy peas were just about edible. You get what you pay for I hear you say, but really?

Great place to meet friends and ex workers. Enjoyed. Great staff very friendly....

Great place for a coffee, as many refills as you like, the machine does mochas, cappuccinos, lattes, pretty much everything you can think of. Also a good breakfast that won't break the bank. Worth checking out

Bit rowdy when the football is on!

Very cheap wetherspoons (even compared to others), the food is absolutely outstanding, a runny orange egg. And my friends eggs benedict was one of the best they'd had

What a joke. A parody of a restaurant. Bad food. Bad service.

Horrible, absolutely everything was horrible.

Fairly typical spoons but now getting near end of days, often see flies even in winter, toilets smelly and disabled toilet used by everyone so often smelling urine in the pub. Not suitable for children anymore. Only go here for cheap drink and food.

Didn't have food...but good choice of ale, great price and service. Happy to spend time there when I can

The Ivor davies is a very beautiful wetherspoons this is our second time in it and we find the staff very friendly and we will call again

This Wetherspoons has the standard average food but always full of old men with a pint, not a great atmosphere and not particularly family friendly if you are wanting a meal with children

It's usually good for food ..my partner however used disabled toilets today (has hidden disability) . It was filthy . I know every clown uses these but maybe a key be best ..awfully dirty

Food was good, staff were nice and ordering was easy - not very clean though.. Not the staff's fault as some customers seem to think spreading food around the table is wonderful. But not so nice if you've got to scrape dried beans off the table

This is one of the better weather spoons I have been in, clean, good service, excellent prices, and the food is well cooked, whoever's doing the cooking needs a pat on the back for producing a very well cooked breakfast, been here several times now and it's always been good and hats off to the service staff. There are a few other spoons I'v been too could learn a few things from the staff here. Thank you from me keep up the good work.

A Wetherspoon restaurant. The breakfast price is reasonable.

Called in for a beer or two, place is really nothing special. The Bristol Belle IPA was quite good as was Jemima's Pitchfork, Gower Gold not so good.

I used to love this JD Wetherspoons , however, I had a bad experience during the last visit. The whole place smells like human urine, especially their chairs it actually smells bad . I had to change the seats because of the smell. It's not a good pleasing environment. The best part of this wetherspoons is that they serve very hot food, especially chips and onion rings. Best affordable drinks. That's the reason I prefer to visit this place. But now I need to think.

Atleast more and clean toilets can do on this busy place

Looking at bit tired - had a breakfast which was poor.

Went for food and a couple drinks. Seevice was lightning quick and correct ! Couldn't believe how quick it was haha! Only ordered a brunch from the small plates menu (with a drink) but rook less than 15 mins. Was quite taken aback. I've given 5 stars for that alone. The pub itself is ok, 3 to 4 stars at best. Good visit definitely will go again. Ps... love the plates lol

One of the best Wetherspoon I've been to in a long time. Great menu and the prices are lower in this one due to alot of competition around. Really good atmosphere. The staff was very good here even though it was as busy as it gets. Can't wait to return.

Decent quality pub with a huge selection of ales drinks etc. Just don't go on a match day and portions have gotten smaller

Atmosphere okay prices reasonable.

Sadly, not a great experience. Tuesday 20th Dec friends and I popped in for coffee and cake. I ordered the pancakes but was given the smaller version, no big deal. I told them it was the wrong order then was asked to get my order from my friends phone so they could check. I'm sure they could have checked in the kitchen. They did make me two more pancakes but didn't give me ice-cream.(which is included) I was told I could have it as long as I paid for it. Bearing in mind it was their mistake not mine. I was then informed that kitchen manager Charlie was more concerned with stock control. Just a little customer service goes a long way

Had a large mixed grill, had wrong meat extreamly over done, onion rings over done the side of onion rings under done 2 meals odered for the same table came around 10 mins apart, when questioned the bar maid was very apologetic and brought 1 of each meat to the table all cooked perfectly so can't understand why the meal was shocking.

Cheap good quality food, great choice of alcohol, clientele can be somewhat rough around the edges although most lovely and friendly. Staff are excellent and friendly mostly. Service excellent especially with the new app that allows you to order from your table. Definitely recommend. The mixed grills are back !

Breakfast was good, hot and reasonably priced. Not too busy so got served straight away and food arrived quickly.

Awful service, some of the food is inedible. Never to return.

Wheelchair accessible although disabled toilet can get dirty quickly should be checked and cleaned more regularly than it is difficult access to the condiments table on busy occasions you end up wandering tables asking to borrow sauces etc have to check cutlery as it is often dirty recently visited again the place has gone from bad to worse the disabled toilet was left open for all people to use was dimly lit toilet pan is badly stained as was the sink looked like it's being used as a urinal floor was sticky this is also meant to be used for baby changing !needs a deep clean considering reporting to environmental health !disgusting did report it but only one person operating the bar waitresses and cleaning did a quick spray but not enough staff maintaining this hovel shame on wetherspoons

Nice service and friendly place

Service was fairly good considering it was busy. Beer was good with plenty of options.
