The Italian Caffe in Glasgow City

Kicked off our corporate Christmas day out in Italian Cafe in the beautiful Merchant City. Great food and service, all the Italian classics with a festive twist! Will certainly be back for luncheon and/or supper. The girls drank so many of the delicious cocktails it's amazing they managed to extricate themselves from the venue! Great place.

Reasonably priced food in comfortable surroundings with good service.

Lo pasamos muy bien ayer. Un ambiente agradable con los camareros tradicionales, un poco descarado pero divertido con un gran conocimiento del vino tinto. Toda la comida era deliciosa! Las decoraciones navideñas eran bonitas. Y finalmente no nos apresuró a pesar de que rebasamos nuestra franja horaria.

Fantástica comida. No pensaría en ir a ningún otro sitio. Lo recomendaría a fondo, sin ninguna reserva. El mejor restaurante de comida italiana, par none.

Very cozy restaurant! We had the spaghetti Carbonara and the Parma Ham & Rocket pizza. Both delicious! Staff were also very friendly. Recommended!

Absolutely great once again! Second time we have been here and loved it as much as the first time. Tapas selection of pastas, and pizza, even some fish, and then their homemade tiramisu. Just wonderful. Great service and fun/relaxed atmosphere. Will certainly be back again

As regulars, my wife and I are always welcomed and served with kindness and efficiency. Food is so delightful as are the selection of wines. Enotica says it all !

Sobresaliente de principio a fin. En primer lugar el servicio era increíble y extremadamente amable, dejó cada interacción con el personal sintiéndose muy bien. Fuimos por las tapas después de los entrantes y tal vez sobre pedido, pero la comida era simplemente increíble. Destripado no pudimos terminar todo. La pizza estaba amartillada a la perfección, un delicioso crujiente. Las pastas que obtuvimos eran deliciosas. No había un solo plato, eso no causó una reacción de alegría. Me sentí muy bien cuidado todo el tiempo, volveré pronto para probar el resto del menú.

Fui a comer antes del teatro. Gran multitud de nosotros 20 +, decepcionado de no poder comprar y pagar las bebidas individualmente, pero no todo el mundo bebiendo, algunas personas bebiendo más que otros y algunos tenían cócteles) no es justo tener que pagar más de lo que has tenido cuando la factura dividido por el número de personas). Esperó 35 minutos antes de tomar la orden de comida. 4 personas separadas pidieron agua para las mesas antes de que finalmente llegara. El servicio decepcionante (arriba), sin embargo, la comida era encantador cuando se trataba. Tuve la insalata caprese y pollo stroganoff.

The starters, Scallops were excellent. Main courses not full pot... "skewers" with seefodd were good but too much sweet and sour sauce that took over. The carbonara was also good, but I didn't expect so much creaminess, but more parmesan. Nice staff and good atmosphere.

We had dinner last night as a family. The servers are very friendly with a touch of humor. We ate very well. The tiramisu is delicious. I recommend.

All round 10/10 experience, loveliest little place! Was quite quiet when we sat down for a little Sunday lunch, I had the meatballs starter and the Lasagne main course - toasty hot and utterly delicious! Served beautifully too. Lovely staff the entire time, super friendly, cozy little atmosphere to top it off :) Honestly couldn’t recommend it enough, you’re missing out if you don’t go

Great value. Step 5 minutes away from George Square and experience authentic Italian food at amazing prices. The lunch menu is exceptional value. Wine excellent and the service from our young servers was friendly and efficient. Come again? No brainer! Ciao.

I am Italian and, generally, when I'm abroad I don't eat in Italian restaurants, mainly to experience the local food and because Italian food, abroad, is rarely as good as in Italy. This restaurant was a pleasant exception. The food was good and as close as possible to what can be found in an average restaurant in Italy. The service was good and the waiter was kind and nice.

Had a lovely dinner. Service was prompt, staff were friendly and the quality was superb, would definitely recommend.

The food was excellent, as was the service. I love that you can order a half serving of any dish (tapas). If we couldn’t decide which entree we wanted, we simply got them both! Thank you Enrico for a lovely evening!

Went in for drinks at the bar and was greeted by the extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Everyone was very welcoming - had a great experience and would highly recommend!

The food was expensive given the portion sizes delivered. The location was very pleasant, the staff welcoming. The pizza was exceedingly underwhelming and cool, not at all to restaurant standards. However, the dessert and starters were enjoyable. Generally, the price is not proportionate to either the 'experience', nor the quality and portion of food delivered. The seating was badly worn, and the mens' toilet had a ladder sitting in them. It was, genuinely, a nice experience - but if they seek to charge as they do, I think they ought to fix some quite fundamental things.

Nice enough place, wth reasonable prices, and staff were generally lovely and attentive but food was awful. Calimare starter was like the scraps thrown into batter with no substance or taste, and dipping sauce was thin vile tasting. The vegetarian Pizza again was tasteless, with a puny amount of vegetables, and the pizza itself was waterlogged and unsubstantive. If you get the right dish, probably a good place to eat. My partners meal was barely average.

We had a family meal there during the festive period. The place was beautifully and tastefully decorated. The atmosphere was good and the service was excellent. The food was presented well and very tasty. We had a lovely time. Thanks!

Went for Xmas lunch booking at 4pm. Lunch menu states can also order from dinner deluxe menu if u want. Got menu given, what we wanted for starter was on dinner deluxe menu not lunch! Was told that can’t be served until 4.30 (even though says on menu can order from deluxe menu at any time) Waiter/maybe manager came back says can’t give u mozzarella Milanese on lunch menu(or deluxe menu as it states I can get from) he said I will have to charge u a la carte price then seperate 2 course so was charged £6.95 x 3 for starter which came to £21 just for starters instead of £22.95 which was for 2 course so was just charged extra £11 I shouldn’t have been. If u have seperate menus then don’t state on the main one can also be ordered for lunch but when u get there they say oh u cant mix up the menus!! Well don’t print that on your menus then, won’t be back! Only good point to mention is the American waiter was lovely maybe manager needs to take a leaf out his book!

Normally everything perfect, this time pata was freezing was fixed to satisfaction and went on to really enjoy food . Only thing I'd say is service is slow even drink order

Came here a week after we came home from Rome, got to say the food here was soo much better, will definitely be back.

We went for lunch with my assistance dog and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly getting lily a tub of water food was amazing and great they have tapas portions definitely a place for a nice meal

Decent food but with 2 mistakes on our order ( 4 of us). A substitution request ( potatoes instead of pasta ) attracted a surprising surcharge. Dirty side plates set on table. Cold plates with main courses. No zero alcohol beer available , but listed. Staff were pleasant but not the best organised.

Really liked the tapas option. Food was lovely.

Lovely Italian place with a really nice cosy but stylish atmosphere. The food was really good and I loved how they offer half portions of the pasta and risotto so you can try more things. Lots of vegetarian options too. Brilliant service, everyone was so friendly! We also shared the tiramisu for the dessert and it was so good.

What a pleasant surprise! Would highly recommend going for the smaller tapas dishes from here. Got to taste different pizzas and pastas - so fresh and very very tasty. Will be going back again.

Food was great, loved the mozzarella sticks! Staff were accommodating for our larger group. Jude was very enthusiastic and provided great service. Definitely an enjoyable experience here!

Great food, great service, amazing staff! My friend and I popped in for dinner and were overwhelmingly pleased with how friendly everyone was. The portions and options were variable and I was met with great encouragement when I decided to order two desserts. Charlie gave us tips on where to go in Glasgow and Jude was exceptionally friendly. We had so much fun dining and chatting with all the staff we didn’t want to leave. The owners of Italian Caffe Enoteca better watch out because we might soon be moving in! 10 out of 10 highly recommend if you want honest staff with good and non judgmental dining recommendations and it was very reasonably priced.

An impromptu lunch here which was amazing! We shared the bread and oil starter then we had the carbonara with cream - next time I'll have it without as I struggled to finish it but it was absolutely delicious! The service was first class and the price was very reasonable. Great place and will definitely visit again.

Food was lovely and staff were nice but dear god the restaurant was roasting hot - uncomfortably so. We asked for heating to go off (it was September) and they did and opened the door. Still roasting tho - maybe there was a problem with the system! Would go back for another try as food was good 👍🏻

What a gem of a find ! Went for a chilled Saturday lunch, and the service was amazing. Really friendly staff with a bit of banter. Had water in minutes whilst we browsed the menu. Ordered a lovely lemoncello cocktail it was delicious. Good was delivered in a timely manner and very well presented. I had the caprse salad followed by risotto and both were full of flavour. Good portion size too. Staff were attentive throughout. Nice atmosphere, music at a good level. Will definitely be back

We had a great meal tonight. The chicken amatriciana and spaghetti carbonara were both delicious, and we also loved our wine pairings. Our server was a lot of fun and he even gave us recommendations for our upcoming Italy trip. I would definitely eat here again!

We were staying at hotel nearby… we were tired the first night and just went there because it was close and I was craving pasta.. omg so delicious, they have the option of having tapas style basically half orders so I ordered 2 different kinds… bit of a mistake as it was so much food but both were amazing. Service was excellent, family run - Dad was just leaving as we got there and daughter was taking over. There were so many restaurants in the city and we were only here 2 nights but it was so good we decided to go back the second night and have the pizza which was again amazing!

Second visit today. Food was fabulous and the service was excellent. Franco and his daughter were so friendly and welcoming. And, value for money is amazing.

I had booked a table at 6 as we had tickets for the Banksy exhibition at 8. We arrived on time but service was very slow. It took over an hour for the first course to arrive and then 45 minutes for the next course. The food arrived at 7:45 so we had to rush eating it. No time for desert or coffee. The drinks and calamari were lovely but the rest of the food was distinctly average. Not sure what was going on but several tables looked like they had long wait times. I visited this restaurants several times pre Covid and it was fantastic so that made it doubly disappointing. I won’t be back.

Booked a table for 2 at 6pm. Shown to our seat and given menus. This was the last time we had any contact with staff. We were completely ignored. They never even took a drinks order. Sat for 35 mins before walking out. Shocking customer service. I appreciate it was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was busy but 35 minutes without even an acknowledgement from staff isn't good enough. Won't be back.

Been here many times over the years but our recent experience was dreadful. Left waiting at the door without any acknowledgement from staff. Once seated, waited 20 mins but nobody came near, had to say to waiter to take drinks and food order. Starter was fairly quick but 40 mins in between until mains, it was just so slow. Appreciate it was busy but shouldn't have to chase for service.

This was my second visit to The Italian Cafe. I previously visited with my mum and was thoroughly impressed. Sadly my visit yesterday with my husband left us both disappointed. When we arrived we were shown to our table and both given the a la carte menu. When I asked for the pre theatre menu the waiter acted like he had no idea what I was talking about and I had to obtain them from the reception area myself. Our drinks order was wrong but was corrected. The mains that arrived to our table was not our order. When our order did arrive we waited at least 5 minutes for vinegar and parmesan. As there was no salt shaker on our table I took one from the table next to ours, and the slat shaker was dirty and broken at the bottom and was quite sharp as the glass was broken. The food however was delicious and cannot be faulted. As the table was cleared, my husband asked for the bill and I used the restroom. Upon my return to our table my husband was still waiting for the bill. So we asked again and again we waited at least 10 minutes for the bill. When we received our bill was said we needed the card machine but no one came with the machine so we made our way to the reception area to pay. I should have given this feedback at the time, but we were heading to meet up with friends and the restaurant was very warm and we just wanted out to the fresh air. I hope the service improves as the food and value for money cannot as I said previously cannot be faulted.

Tried to go for pre theatre menu as advertised online. We arrived and the waitress treated us really strangely and told us they were closed for an hour (this was at about 4pm). I asked what time they were opening at and she said “like an hour” and when I pressed for their actual opening time she couldn’t give us it. She looked us up and down like we were tramps, no customer service at all just an extremely rude and dismissive demeanour. Not sure what the story is here, maybe just a new member of staff? Either way it was very uncomfortable, recommend taking your business anywhere else

Food was good but glasses/cutlery and plates were dirty

Terrible service. They make you feel like an annoyance for wanting to order. The food is perfectly fine but nothing special. There are far better Italian restaurants in Glasgow. You can go to Paesanao, Sugo Pasta, or the excellent Bar Vini on the southside for great Italian food made by people who care and want your custom.

Such a middle of the road restaurant, nothing stands out about it at all, everything including the service is tired and lack lustre. I remember when this restaurant used to be outstanding and always busy, unfortunately now it’s just shabby and dead. All of the other restaurants in the area were heaving, this is the only place we could get a table - says it all. Firstly the restaurant was BOILING!! uncomfortably so. The menus are so dog eared and tatty, especially the wine menu. Not a great first impression. The side plates on the table were dirty. The food was actually enjoyable, nothing I’ve not had before or that I couldn’t make myself but pleasant enough although everything needed much more seasoning as was quite bland. The focaccia was far too doughy and thick, it should have been thin and a lot crispier, also if you sell something as being garlic and rosemary, please make sure it tastes of these things.

Another fab night at the Italian Caffe, cannot recommend this place enough, the Haddock gratinato and King Prawns Sciciliana are amazing!! Staff always so welcoming and friendly and such lovely atmosphere! Fav place in Glasgow

Fabulous food and service. Great prices

Great value 2 course meal. Was very quiet as we were in late afternoon - not so keen on choice of music but that is a personal thing. Will visit again as both food and service good.

Myself and hubby booked in for dinner at 5:30 , when we arrived a young man said are you sure it wasn’t booked for 5pm, eh NO. Sat us down at a cramped table and eventually took our win order, 15 min later we were still waiting, had to go and remind him we still didn’t have our wine order, then it was time to take our food order, the starter we wanted we were told it is made fresh and would take at least 30 minutes, okay we said we would pick something else and did, guess what it took 40min to arrive and tasted rubbish, haddock with a cheese sauce was a watery excuse is all I can say, then comes the main course, I had surf & turf medium rare, steak was over cooked and dry, my husband had spaghetti and meatballs, small bowl arrived with very little spaghetti and hardly any sauce. Then to top off when I was eating the waiter leans over my food to lift a glass that had been sat there for ages, not even a do you mind ? This is the first time in a while we have eaten here and it will be the last

We wanted to try The Italian Caffè for the longest time, anytime we visit Glasgow, usually for a concert/gig we like to try new places and wow we were so impressed, after having a look through the instagram we noticed the tapas they serve, I mean living in Spain 10 years I love tapas and thought it was amazing having Italian tapas, can’t get any better than that, I couldn’t decide they had way too many options ! - ( another visit pending to try more )I opted for crab cakes, scallops, spaghetti meatballs and pizza with haggis. The value is absolutely amazing, being considered tapas the size of the dishes were amazing, each dish cooked to perfection, being already so full I couldn’t help myself to finish with a homemade tiramisu. Stunning !! Seeing a few of the reviews I was shocked as me and my partner were blown away by the Italian Caffè, we can’t wait till the next time we come down to Glasgow, first pick!! Great job. 👍

My partner and I had a dinner reservation here on Valentines day and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The staff were very attentive and friendly, particularly Charlie, Rocco and Franco, I think were their names. The venue also seemed very clean and just had a lovely atmosphere. Will be back again!

Service au top mais risotto trompé dans l'huile. Je n'ai jamais vu un risotto aussi gras dans ma vie. Je n'ai pas pu finir mon plat. Par contre tiramisu tres bon.

Booked a pre concert meal for 3 for a 6pm sitting. 10 mins in order is taken and all looks fine. Starter arrives in an okay time, all well. 1.5 hours after ordering and after asking a number of times we still have not received...

We had booked a table on line at Babbity Bowster near the Italian Cafe. Babbities was nothing like what we thought it would be so ended up in Caffe Enoteca. There were eight of us and it was about 4.30 in the afternoon so it was good that they could take us . It was a birthday celebration. Food was good but nothing spectacular. Service was good also.
