Nostrana in Glasgow City

Just had a takeaway coffee. Not as tasty as other West End places. That said, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and the menu looks good. Will try again.

Special Italian eatery. Classic dishes that taste divine offered in a bright modern way by friendly capable staff. A little treasure to share with family and friends 👍

Great pizzas. Good variety of toppings. Excellent staff. Enjoyed our evening. We'll be back!

Extremely good pizza! We had a sharing pizza and we were extremely surprised how much we got. Could have fed 4 but 2 hungry people had to make do. Highly recommend the orange wine, and the focaccia.

This restaurant is owned/'cheffed' by an old friend of the friend I was visiting. We popped in at lunchtime to book a table for the evening & I could have sat down there & then for coffee & cannoli & simply whiled away the time until dinner in the evening! Lovely atmosphere, superb staff & the food is out of this world. I had a 'blackboard special' - excellent bread, burrata, rocket, the most delicious pesto I have ever eaten & a new thing to me, which the charming Marco explained were 'red pepper drops' - I thought they were tiny tomatoes as they were so sweet & exploded in my mouth with amazing flavour. Of course I had the tiramisu for dessert, as is my wont - gorgeous! Thank you so much to Marco & his team - we had such an enjoyable time - & I can't wait to come back to eat here again on my next visit.

After hearing about this place changing from pizza magic (same owner ) to Nostrana my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try to see if it was just as good.pleased to say it has not lost its magic. The decor in the place is very nice with a beautiful Mackintosh inspired interior. The staff were very friendly . The food was very tasty. We shared the goats cheese on sourdough and balsamic glaze which was very tasty. The flavour combinations were nice although the bread was a little too overdone for my liking. The main course was a shared rustica meat feast pizza and it was huge . The pizza was well cooked and the flavours were delicious. We shared the nonna tart which was a lemon tart with cream . The tart was very well baked and the lemon flavour was great. . Overall we had a great experience and the pizza was just as good as I remember as a child coming here so I definitely recommend it.

Great tasting sharing pizza with rocket and Parmesan salad. Excellent pizza base and generous toppings of artichokes, aubergine and black olives. Relaxing, stylish and chilled atmosphere, and nice, attentive staff. Been here several times before. The food speaks for itself. Excellent wine choices and cocktails too. Quality.

Visit regularly, nice food, good service, reasonable prices, very much Italian flavors. On my lunch visits - serviced well and fast.

We had leisure to eat delicious food, both pasta and pizza and the chef jazzed up the birthday cake we had brought it and made it look really stunning. The birthday girl was really touched. The service was attentive, friendly and efficient. Looking forward to going again soon.

I visited lately 5-6 times , freshly coocked, tasty, perfect place for a business lunch, pasta, pizza, sups - all dishes I tried were really nice.

Celebrating my daughter’s 21st, staff were amazing. Decorated my homemade cake with raspberries in “21” formation. Very thoughtful and kind. Food was excellent. There were 7 of us and only 2 had eaten here before. All 5 were hugely impressed and will be returning. Drinks were great, the Primitivo was delicious. Great service and all in all a wonderful evening. Thank you 🥰

Have dined here a few times and spent an average of £60-£70 each time , .Time we went before last ,we ordered our usual,bee sting pizza,salad and a side of macaroni.The cost of the macaroni has always been £5.50 in a LARGE dish.We had our friend with us last time and so we ordered 2 sides of what we thought would be the same size of dish and same price of macaroni as no one thought to say that they had not only changed the size of dishes to dishes that had literally 2 tablespoons of macaroni in them but also the price from £5.50 to £6.00!!!.(For 2 tablespoons of macaroni ) is it me or do you agree this is rediculous and ripping the p….sh.When we got our bill I questioned these and asked to speak to marco .He didn’t come out from behind his bag of flour ,but relayed a message via a wee lassie instead of coming out to speak to me.He told her to take £6 off the bill ,which to me is an admission he was in the wrong and should have informed us that not only the prices had changed but the dishes had changed to dishes that could only take 2 tablespoons of macaroni .That said the food as always was spot on.PS:We also were charged £1 for a chilli when we were in last month .Now I know things have got expensive but come on ,a pound for a chilli!!!, after we have spent a right few quid in his place on a coupe of occasions.

Ordered 3 pizzas to-go, received 3 cold pizzas 35 minutes later, boxes had been left behind the counter and forgotten. Had I not asked they would probably be there still. Will avoid take away service from now on.

It was the best pizza I've had in Glasgow so far. Their Nostrana Pizza is so big and also so delicious. It is very good for sharing. We can't wait to go there again.

Food is consistently good here. Staff are helpful. Can get busy but under control. Nice outdoor seating for good weather. Had a good wild mushroom risotto and a decent glass of wine.

Fabulous brunch for two. We had Goat's cheese bruschetta and a pizza slice which was delicious. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended 👌

🎵🎶🎼. “It’s all about the base…” as Meghan Trainor once sang 😂 Nostrana has the best pizza base in Glasgow. That’s why we keep coming back. Superb sharing pizzas, generously loaded with top quality ingredients. The Siciliana sharing pizza is more than enough for two, loaded with artichokes and veggies. And we had a rocket side salad which was fresh and a generous covering of quality Parmesan shavings. Quality Italian food, great value, in a beautifully chilled, modern, airy ambience. Sitting outside as the sun goes down on a warm, summer’s evening, while sipping a chilled beer or cocktail is another highlight of Nostrana. Love it!

Have visited this restaurant a few times now and enjoyed the food. Service is always efficient and friendly. Each visit we have paid by card and have asked to add a tip on each time. We have always been told the owner continues not to provide a facility for doing this. Not everyone carries cash these days so come on Marco be fair to your staff!!

Really good pizza with great selection. They also do a good gluten free pizza which is rare. More on the pricy side but worth it if you get the larger rustica pizza. The cannolis were really good and well priced.

Really great local pizza place :) I have to admit, the first time I went shortly after opening I was a little disappointed with the flavour of the pizza, but luckily I ended up going again (and again) and the pizza's have been delicious ever since. And so reasonably priced! The tiramisu is also to die for!

Perfect. Tried to book a table but fully booked (not surprised as food is excellent). Had a takeaway instead (fortunately we live close by), not disappointed, second time in a week we’ve had a takeaway (not like us). Cannot fault anything - Bee Sting wonderful, Mixed Salad to die for, Mac n Cheese, my husbands favourite. Don’t go anywhere else, it’s perfect.

Lovely outdoor seating area, the staff were very friendly. We had bolognese. I prefer it a little richer in flavour but it was nice. Stay locally so will return. I spotted someone with the fish which looked delicious so will be back to try!

We have been several times to Nostrana now, and each time we have been we have found it to be a very agreeable place to go. The food is very tasty and not overpriced, and the atmosphere is relaxed but still professional. My husband uses a wheelchair and we have found that the tables are high enough to accommodate his chair, and they also have a disabled toilet on the premises (he hasn’t used it, but it’s good to know it’s there). We’ll definitely be back as it works very well for us! Great pizza/pasta/gnocchi - we’re working our way through their menu! They even split our pizza and pasta onto separate plates for us to make it easier for us to half-n-half. Big thumbs up - keep doing what you’re doing please!

After receiving our drinks we were told that pasta dishes were unavailable. So decided to order scampi and haddock and chips, to be told that was unavailable as well. Only pizza was available. Young staff were excellent but having asked to speak to the manager...

Lovely outside area . Food was very reasonably priced and very tasty.

Have not dined in but the takeaway pizza we got was great. Looking forward to coming back for a sit in meal.

Got charged £8.50 for a mocktail! It wasn’t on the menu so I’ve asked for one and they made me a strawberry daiquiri. The alcoholic one was £9.50. I even queried with the staff and they confirmed the price! Unreasonable price for a mocktail! The most expensive I’ve ever paid! Pizzas smelled amazing, but the taste was okay, nothing special. Pizza was £13. The service was slow but it was a busy night.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. One of the best pizzas I've tasted, perfect base and good sized portion. Good menu selection also. One of the best fish and chips I've ever eaten, both cooked to perfection, with the chips crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle and the fish batter nice and crispy. Also nice eclectic selection of music which adds to the atmosphere. Dog friendly (tables outside) 🐕 Also, caters for takeaways... pick up at counter.

The carbonara is to die for. We also tried one of their pizza slices and it was alright, though the base was thicker than I would've liked. Service was good and the prices were alright. The only thing I would've changed is not have the kitchen directly connected to the rest of the restaurant as the whole place smelled like a kitchen and so did we when we left so -1 star. Overall a good experience and would recommend dining here if you're after good Italian food.

At approximately 11:20am this morning, a group of mums, including myself, and our babies met up in Hyndland with the intention of having our morning roll and coffee in Nostrana, as we do each week. We always pop our head before entering to considerately advise them of a few prams. The owner had been there on only one occasion previously and had not been the most welcoming, but we hadn't seen him since and have never had a problem being accommodated for. We never ask for high chairs or have special requests; our babies are young and therefor happily sit on our knee. Unfortunately, today we were not allowed to enter. The reason being we would "block the disabled toilet." This remark wasn't even addressed to us by the owner but to a waiter, so we didn't even receive the courtesy of being told directly. I'd like to point out this has never been an issue before and if a situation arose where someone needed to access the disabled toilet it would not be a problem to move a pram. Indeed, it would also not be a problem to seat us elsewhere in the restaurant too, especially as it was extremely quiet at the time. The manner in which we were so quickly disregarded was unprofessional and severely disappointing. You cannot advertise your business as a "home from home" and "family friendly" if you do not accept families. I struggle to understand what kind of clientele the owner is hoping to attract at 11:20am on a Tuesday morning when the place is practically empty. I cannot help but feel we were discriminated against because we had children and we left feeling humiliated. Living nearby, we have always supported local businesses but unfortunately we will not be back and would strongly advise anyone with a child to visit alternative venues in the area. We walked along the road and were warmly greeted at an alternative bistro where we shall be going from now on.

The pizza dough was really good but the topping probably the best but I am sure my British friends will like them. Personal I prefer pizzas that are simpler pizzas

4 adults and 2 children for dinner. Couldn’t have been made more welcome. Food was excellent, childrens portions were great. Staff lovely. Highly recommend

Visited last night, party of 6 for 40th birthday treat. Food was good but could off been nice if offered parmesan cheese with the pasta dishes. Pizzas were huge and delicious. Staff friendly and nice atmosphere in restaurant and would visit again

Very poor, food was disappointing. We spent quite a lot of money for what was doughy tasteless pizza, I didn’t think you could get pizza wrong until I ate here. Weird atmosphere too - head person looked to be stressing staff- shame.

Lovely place, very nice restaurant, good food , nice atmosphere, staff can't do enough for you very welcoming. The pizza base was a bit soaked mainly due to olive oil in the vegetable topping, passed it on to the chef so that they could perhaps improve, that did not affect taste pizzas are really good.

This was my first time visiting Nostrana since it opened. Place was busy which created a good atmosphere, they do a good gluten free pizza which is a welcomed treat as a good GF pizza is hard to find. Overall price wasn't bad either. I'd probably recommend booking to avoid disappointment as the venue isn't that big. Will definitely be back again soon.

The owner Marco is not a good guy. He’s all front. Only cares about money and profit but pretends to be this friendly and genuine local community member. The way he treats his young staff is disgraceful. Avoid this place.

The food in this place is excellent and the staff are attentive, courteous and polite which is rather unusual given their age demographic as so often establishments have younger servers who don’t put in much of an effort but the server I had contact with...

Dropped in in the off chance, no booking, just before their busy time on a Friday. Squeezed us in no problem. Lovely new establishment - beautiful decor. Pizzas stunningly delicious. Service lovely. Laid-back perfection.

Absolutely dreadful. Pieces of grey mushed together bacon in my pasta dish left feeling very unwell after it. Save your money and don’t bother go to Caffe Parma next door 100x better. Staff don’t get tips either overall AVOID.

Food is nice but we were rushed out by another group coming in. Our booking for 4 + child but not told 90 minute limit when booking. Service not fast enough to make this practical, and no time to finish drinks or order more than 1 course. Suggest either extend your slots to more sensible 2 hours and/or make the constraints know when accepting bookings over the phone.

Great food and great service at a reasonable price. Couldn't of asked for more, and definitely recommend Nostrana to anyone who is in the mood for great Italian cuisine. I will definitely be back when next I can.

Nostrana, new Italian restaurant at the West end of Glasgow. Staff amazing welcome people, which made me feel so welcome and put a smile on my face. The food was top quality and tasty, I eat every single bit of it. Rocket salad dressing wad so so yummy 😋 I wish I could got a recipe for it.Beautiful deco, very clean and I loved that I could see chefs cooking. NIcko looked after our table and I could feel he is a people person, helpful, caring, thank you Nicko.Thank you Marco for amazing pizza and thank you James for lovely pasta with pig-cheeks and for lovely starter.I would highly recommend Nostrana. By the way after lovely food I fall asleep as soon as I have arrived home so thank you to all the staff of Nostrana and I will defo come back.

It's a lovely wee place, a hidden gem in West End. From the start we were welcome by waiting staff and taken straight to our pre-booked online table. The place has modern and cozy decor and it spotless clean. The waiting staff - we were being taken care by Nick, you couldn't ask for nicer and more attentive person. All waiting staff were checking on us frequently. The food was freshly made, you can have a peek at the back as kitchen is semi - open. You can see chefs cooking and preparing meals. Everything is tidy and clean. We had few side dishes as starters including freshly fried mozzarella fritters - you don't want to miss these if you're a fan of gooey mozarella in crispy coating. It was really yummy, the same as rocket salad and freshly baked garlic focaccia. We ordered few mains - my daughter said that it was the best pizza she ever ate - thank you Marco 🙂. Followed by head chef special - pasta cooked with pork cheek and some broccoli in creamy sauce which was simply delicious. A good choice for vegetarians - I had pasta piccante with fresh chillies and creamy sauce. I've been told that chef can adjust any dish for you to add extras or to make it vegetarian just for you. We're going to be definitely back, it's a new place but I can see it growing into local's favourite in no time. It's already gaining popularity - I spotted Frankie Boyle himself sitting at the table at my back 🙂!

As ever Nostrana is a super place go for a meal. Food is great. Pizza ,pasta ,fish. All v good. Highly recommend the place

Best tasting pizzas, by far. Great sourdough base, quality toppings, generously loaded dishes and great value for money. Highly recommend the antipasti - quality selection board, and the delicious Nostrana sharing pizzas. Generous portions, plus staff box up whatever you can’t eat! Excellent wine too. Casual & relaxed ambience in a stylish, friendly restaurant. Top marks all round.

absolutely filthy yet almost empty - like a mcdonald’s service station. shown to our table, pieces of pizza crust still lying under it from the people before us, crumbs and cheese strewn all over the floor. food was ok, we shared everything between a group and were given one pair of scissors to cut both pizzas with (very strange) - would have been a novelty had the place not been filthy. staff friendly and relatively attentive.unfortunately won’t be back

I went to this place last night. It was lovely. The staff where very helpful. I enjoyed the food. I had one of there special’s. Pasta with wild mushrooms. I would highly recommend this place. I would also book a table. This place is not massive so worth booking.

Where to begin? Had a 30 minute time slot for a quick coffee and happened by this restaurant. Pizza slice, latte and some sides - food was outstanding and service was exceptional. Staff so polite and attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Wish I stayed in the area as this would be my local.

We had a sharing pizza which was huge - good base tasty topping - sides of fries and Mac and cheese. Took the Mac and cheese home as the other portions were big. Great coffee, friendly efficient service and value for money 10 mins from our front door. What more could we ask for

Visited with family and the food was great. Single pizzas are bigger than expected so more like 1 between 2 people but tasted great. Had the Bee Sting which I would recommend. Service at first was a little slow but food more than made up for it. If you like a good Italian style pizza then this place is well worth a visit.

Tried this place today (23/10/22) at around 4pm for coffee/tea and cake just to sound it out for an evening eating place for the future. Ordered two teas and a Danish plus a hot chocolate from a young waitress. Asked for oat milk for the tea. When it arrived there were no tea spoons given so had to use a fork on the table, plus the oat milk came in two small whiskey shot glasses?!. Tasted the tea which was at best lukewarm so had to ask for a jug of hot water which came in a cup?, served by a young blond haired waiter. Why they didn't have a small jug is beyond me as it's a new restaurant. Having poured water into my tea and over the table because it was in a cup we finished and I got up to pay. The two aforementioned staff could see I wasn't impressed by the service but seemed to think this was funny as they smirked at each other. Poor service always kills a restaurants reputation. If this place fails then the staff won't care as they'll just find a job elsewhere. Sadly for the owner he won't have a business. We won't be back.

The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are friendly and extremely accommodating. Pizza is their passion and cocktails fab too. Prices are fair. Would definitely recommend. I ordered from Pizza Magic since it opened in the 80’s and I am pleased to say the new venture has its own character but has not lost its local charm.
