Nice pub but grubby. Needs to be closed down for a week and have a good clean. Staff friendly but unclean tables that aren’t cleared makes it look grubby. :-/

your classic wetherspoons! got stuck in the lift, so if you have accessibility needs and need to use the lift make sure to not stand/touch the sides (would be good to put a sign in there!)

Typical wetherspoons pub so if you love a wetherspoons then you be a happy bunny :-) I've been to this pub a handful of times when I visit friends in Wellington. Staff are friendly and there are lots of drink a d food options. Only negative is that I wish they offered a more apefo I gluten free menu and more choice for allergens.

Great place to meet up with friends for food and drinks.

Often pop up as the pub is close to home. But this evening wasn’t good! First drinks and mains came quickly and were great. But ended up waiting just over an hour from ordering desserts to receiving them, and when they did come waitress seemed a little rude and we could tell they had been sat under a heat lamp for a while (pics for details). We understand it was fairly busy but over an hour for 2 desserts seem to much, apple crumble was also missing toffee sauce (which is a PAID for extra) but just ate and left.

Nice building,inside and out , toilets are in great condition, quick friendly service, and a nice coffee and breakfast

Nice place but sometimes it hard to get the staff to open the back door for wheelchair use to get in , sometimes the staff can be not very helpful or time there are ok the food is ok , I had better food in our JD Wetherspoon restaurant

Always get good meals at very attractive prices along with a pint of my favourite beer! Can't fault the service and the food is mostly excellent. Poor ambience due to the building being so large! Well .. not exactly poor, it just isn't as cosy as a smaller place would be. Mind you, the place was not originally built to be a public house.

Ah, Wetherspoons—the only place where you can enjoy a pint at 9 AM without judgment and a meal at 5 PM without finding a seat. It's where breakfast meets beer and every hour feels like rush hour. Gourmet dining with a side of chaos!

Outdoor space on varanda a bit crammed has a net over it doesn't stop the poo from the pigeon's the pub's a bit dark inside but the abbot's was good

Sent back both main courses and had fresh sent back to find it was the same temperature (barely warm) ate it as hungry but this was 3.30pm and dead in the pub. If they can't get food right at this time of day, God help them. We won't be back for a long time. All we got from staff was oh well, I'll feed it back.

A nice big Spoons with plenty of seating and as with most it has some unusual bits and bobs dotted about the place. Standard food .. decent chips etc but we find they are petty tight with the spud toppings these days - it looks a lot but the beans and cheese were just over the top so it was too dry to eat all of the potato by the end of it. Might just stick to breakfasts in Spoons, although most still can't mix porridge properly for some reason!

Love this pub though on the night we visited there was a slight cerfuffle over some mayonnaise

Typical Spooner's, decent value in a nice venue. Convenient to the motorway, M5, and with on street parking, better than the services. Still the same value.

I was served “pizza” with the consistency and flavour of a tepid mouse mat covered in cheese and my wife’s chicken salad made her feel ill. I will never eat here again.

Rudest staff I ever encountered! Left me waiting 8 minutes whilst she chatted to a friend..place was filthy covered in dirty plates.. everything sticky, bar, menus, floors and tables. Food was ok..but never going back due to horrible bar staff.

To be honest we go here for the cheap beer & the booths & laughs. The curry with the beer attachment is good value but I couldn't say it is good quality food (compared to a real Indian restaurant) I am used to having an upset tummy every single morning after and 100% it is the curry and not the copious beers. Table service using the app is very good and much quicker than going to the bar. The free condiments is another plus, as in all Wetherspoons.

My first visit here, and initial impression was that the Iron Duke is a large impressive place, There was plenty of choice of places to sit in the different parts of the pub, and the downstairs loos were also very smart. The staff I spoke too were friendly and helpful, and there was also a selection of real cider available. I would certainly call in to eat here again.

Another cracking spoons if ur on the m5 get off at junction 26 pop in for a coffee/tea far cheaper than the services that's for sure Iron duke is a large spacious spoons good toilets good atmosphere great service stopped off on the way to taunton

A lot of frozen ready to eat items on the menu etc. But, this is food for us all, the masses, and for most of us, great value. The Iron Duke has a lovely comfortable atmosphere. Staff smiling and ready to help. The ceiling is amazing, look up. We found a table by the window, all nice and clean with menus on, in fact all the empty tables were clean and tidy, and the place was busy. We order drinks and they quickly arrived. My partner ordered a pizza and I ordered the vegan beyond meat burger. It's a frozen pizza base we all know, but more often than not in other 'spoons' it comes out of the kitchen under cooked and floppy. Not at The Iron Duke. It's crispy and looking really tasty. The Beyond burger is the same, comes in frozen, etc. Most of the time, at other 'spoons', the patties arrive looking as if they have been deep fried to an inch of there plant based life, not here. Succulent and juicy, burger bun toasted and salad that was still green 💚 .I nearly forgot, the chips. 100% definitely the best 'spoons' chips I have ever had, they were cooked and piping hot. When a waitress came over to check, I said how pleased we were with the food and how good it was, she actually stopped to listen. Go into The Iron Duke. Definitely worth a try. I will most certainly be back next time I am in Wellington. Well done to the whole team.

Always good food for a spoons place. The atmosphere is clean and tidy sometimes bit noisy but expected. Service is very quick and very happy to serve!!

The food today one jacket potato was hot the other jacket was cool. Waitress was very good and ordered a replacement meal which was really tepid. This was a repeat of three weeks ago when I reported the food was not hot enough. The staff member apologised. This is not the standard one excepts from an establishment who was much better it currently apears to be dropping its standards which is a shame.

Amazing, very english pab. Polite and helpful staff. Nice and hot food. EVERYDAY. I love this place.

Came here with my grandparents who are disabled and use a walking stick so we had to use the back entrance to enter the pub which was fine but upon leaving with the wet weather the back entrance is slopped and rather slippy that every time my grandad put his stick down it would slip from under him causing him to almost have a fall. This needs to be looked at and gritted as there will be an accident one day.

We visit this busy place for lunches, always finished within the hour 😃

Not much I can say. They don’t accept citizens card regardless of the website stating that they do. Travelled to get out here to go there specifically and left very dissapointed.

It does what it does well due to the staff.

So we ate at Werherspoon all week and have to say that we ate very tasty and very cheaply. Ordering via the app was also very easy and uncomplicated. I was already familiar with Wetherspoon and have never had any negative experiences with them. If I'm in this area again, I'll eat and drink there again.

I was disgusted by the amount of dust everywhere and the mess and dirt on the floor and furniture. There was dust on every ledge

Lovely pub for a wetherspoons, food is usually nice and quick to arrive. One of the best toilets ( female) I've seen in a pub! Staff are polite and friendly

The good thing with most Weatherspoons is that you usually know what you're getting for a sensible price, never The Ritz, but personally always feel its good value. Nice building in Wellington, too and easy to get to in its central position in the town. Only downside is dogs are not welcome

Surprisingly large weatherspoons in the centre of wellington. Usual good selection of hand pumps and prompt service. Lift to the upper level, accessible toilet on the ground floor. Main toilets downstairs which have a volted ceiling - watch your head!

Manager obnoxious and rude, unable to deal with genuine complaints about sub standard food. No refund, no replacement food offered. Sub standard, not what you expect from Wetherdspjoons. threatened with Police, but not followed up. Manager refused to give his name, left to go to a more customer focused pub even though a lot more expensive. Would have been more than happy to explain issues to Police. Ended up with dissatisfaction, rudeness and think manager needs training as out of his depth. Would never have been treated so disrespectful in our local Wetherspoons in Taunton.

Food is very good for the price, beer choice is excellent and amazing value as ever. Wetherspoons transformed this interesting building which was being used for sales of bric a brac and old furniture. Fire at the far end, plenty of room upstairs and down and good atmosphere. No dedicated parking but not an issue in Wellington. Love the fact they don't mind us stacking our bikes out the way behind the door when out with our cycling group.

What a pathetic excuse, rip off price of a Christmas meal I have ever seen, it was dreadful. A few of our group decided to order the Xmas dinner and what we were served was awful apart from the turkey which there was a lot of. No roast potatoes only mash, 1 piece of parsnip about half inch long by as wide if not smaller, 1 carrot very very slightly bigger than the parsnip, no gravy came with the meal (we had to ask 2-3 times for it), There were peas but all meals get peas but not as many as you would get with say, fish and chips

Lovely surprise at a very late hour. Only went for a drink and not sure if we could get a nibble considering it was after 10pm. The answer was 'Sure, not a problem', so we got some pizza. Absolutely great!

Absolutely gorgeous pub!! Food was delicious and the building was so grand and beautiful! Cannot actually believe this is a wetherspoons! Very impressed.

We came to have some food and a drink, we were amazed by the size and atmosphere of this place it is definitely historic and we had a seat and it was quite cosy. We have ordered trough the app and it was extremely fast the service, we had the drinks and a few minutes after the food came which was quite impressive. Although the service it was fast, we have ordered a couple of drinks after and the waitress who brought the drinks could’ve took the plates but unfortunately even that she looked at them she just delivered the drinks and left. We had the lasagna with pancetta and a side salad which it was a bit small the portion but it was delicious, also ordered the pepperoni pizza with extra jalapeños which be careful as it was extremely spicy, the pizza could have a bit more cheese in my opinion. The lady’s bathroom is just iconic, a mix of luxury with a touch of modernity and ancient style. Located right in the hearth of Wellington with extremely affordable prices is always a good choice.

Nicely fitted and decorated pub with plenty of space. Food was surprisingly good. Please bring back childs scampi, brought my grandson as Weatherspoons scampi is his favourite eat out meal. Disappointed it's no longer on the kids menu

Really rude service. Had a nice evening drink for a friends birthday and the staff were terribly rude. Wouldn’t recommend. Made a complaint to the manager about my service and for the rest of the evening the staff made it very uncomfortable for me to the point where I had to leave

Usual great wetherspoons experience. They just seem to get a great experience repeatedly! Very reasonably priced beer. Food was very good, steak was rare when we ordered a medium but nothing serious. What's not to like?

Haven't been here for a couple years but attended a family meet up as it was local. Mid pm so fairly quiet, couple of my group are and the rest had coffee. Food was good, tasty and priced well, likewise the coffee, self serve from a machine so made as you like it. Usual Witherspoon pub atmosphere or lack of. A million miles away from being a real pub, the only similarities are the drinks. My main issue was the awful attitude of the guy who served us. Verging on outright rude. I manage in retail and know that you do not address paying customers like that regardless of whether you want to be in there or not we pay your wages. Return visit? Never.

What a great find, travelled to Wellington for work and found this little gold mine when looking for breakfast. When I'm down this way will definitely be returning. Never before have I seen such a lovely ladies bathroom... So impressed I had to video it....😀

It was the only place serving food so had to eat there or drive out of town. We should have driven out of town

Consistently good quality food, drinks and service! The staff at this pub do a good job of friendly customer service, there's a good atmosphere at this Wetherspoons and I have always been very happy with the standard of food and cooking to come out of the kitchen. A well run pub!

Lovely ambience in the pub, set on 2 floors. The 3rd floor is in the basement, where the welfare facilities are situated. The only downside being you need to be able to handle stairs. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience 🤗

The mini cookie and the large one were delicious. The curry dish was also tasty, but the steak was not seasoned enough and the garlic bread pizza was extremely dry. Great service. Nice and quiet, very unusual posh toilets!

Slow service, took an hour to get our food and my the rump from my mixed grill was a bit on the burnt side. Not to mention that it was raining in front of the men's toilet.

Good old Wetherspoons. You know what you're getting when it comes to food. It's in a centre of Wellington and nicely done up. Great for food and families. Gets really busy on Friday and Saturday night with all the local cool kids 😉

Amazing place. Probably one of the poshest spoons I've been to. Very nice interior, nice design and amazing staff. Very friendly and laid back. The food was always nice, prompt and hot. Would definitely recommend it 👌🏻

I was bittetly disappointed on this visit, I accept it was Sunday lunchtime and busy but the person waiting on our table never smiled or made us feel welcome, infact more like we were a nuisance. Cutlery was just dumped in the middle of the table, tray of drinks the same. My steak was fine but the onion rings, mushrooms and chips were cold and the peas looked like me: all wrinkled up and looked like they'd seen better days! I have been here before and had a lovely meal so maybe I was just unlucky on this visit.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. The main problem was that everything was a bit grubby, certainly not clean. Tables were sticky, many tables had not been cleared and it just seemed a bit grim. The coffee is self service, you get a cup and help yourself which is good but the coffee machine was a bit rusty and the area around it was really quite dirty. The cup smelt a bit strange too, again simply due to things not being clean. I had a Guinness which was OK but again, you could tell the glass was not clean. We had food which whilst arriving extremely quickly was not anything special, it was acceptable but clearly prepared to a strict budget. Watery beans, gristly sausages and hard black pudding, but 4 meals and a couple of drinks for about £35 was obvious value. Cheap but not exactly cheerful.

Always very nice here, whether for a breakfast or drinks, staff here are very good, bar tenders that serve waiting customers, not hovering about and watching the queue build (Perkin Taunton) the difference here @ Wetherspoons in Wellington to others in the area is chalk and cheese. Far more efficient and far more organised, keep it up. Well worth a visit. Another good visit this morning after my latest review means it must be 5 stars now’ excellent breakfast for the price and iced water available at opening time! (Take heed Perkin @ Taunton!!) And coffee only 99p! 1-45 @ Perkin Taunton ????? Same company 6 miles or so away!!

Not such a bad place on the main street but, nevertheless, it is still Spoons. I would only rate it 2/10.

went in for a drink and something to eat saturday evening, mixed grill,etc. Faultless food and service Eleven out of Ten.

Called in for breakfast, good selection of food at reasonable prices.

Only had one meal there as visited on last day of holiday. Would recommend as family friendly.

If you like a bit of egg with your shell and your patience tested this is the place for you! Don’t even bother if it looks slightly occupied you’ll be waiting at least an hour. You also get some free entertainment from the drugged up teens. The few times I’ve gone thats been the general experience. The one thing they do best is refunds

Another perfect Curry Club meal fast service and excellent food

A truly wonder dining experience, the staff was helpful and delivered my large breakfast and Pepsi max( I must add, with adequate amounts of ice cubes ) In quick time. The toilets, although a fair walk away from the well decored dining area, are up to standard. Several cubicles for dropping trow.

Duty manager (tall chap glasses short black hair) was probably the most lifeless rude person I've encountered at a pub.... No hello or politeness just slams your food down and walks away, very unwelcoming and unpleasant towards customers. Odd how someone with such poor manners is a duty manager?..... ladies are very welcoming but sadly ruined by this very rude man.....

Breakfast is ridiculously good value. How on earth can anyone make a full English cooked breakfast for about a fiver? They clearly make their margin on the extras, but it’s still crazily good value and inexpensive. Would definitely come again

The Duty manager there is extremely rude! I ordered a charity care bear pin badge on the app which was clearly marked in stock, to be told there out of stock which is obviously fine these things happen but the atmosphere he makes is so awkward and embarrassing… offering a complete different badge with the take it or leave it attitude. A refund was asked for which was accepted however the refund never came as he never came back and carried on serving food instead…..

It's a bulk standard weatherspoon all are cheap and cheerful
