Deleted my review. But I said they passed my drink around after I said it was watered down as I said the beer was watered down and they decided to pass it round to try to which I refused to have the drink back. To which they started slagging me off saying they aren’t a waitress. I mean, I would have a drink back after it had been passed around to 4 strangers? Anyway, stinks like a 60 year old ash tray. Definitely not the most welcoming place in town. Death stars as soon as you walk in. Absolutely Disgusting place.

If you want awful service, a bad pint and the desire to wash your clothes 17 times to just get stale smoke out your clothes, this is the place for you!

Great pub to start your cricket day

Popped in for a quiet drink after work and ended up staying for a few hours, drinks were very reasonably priced, much cheaper than some of the pubs around the area. Staff were very friendly, had good knowledge of drinks. atmosphere was great absolutely buzzing, few people were enjoying the karaoke in between the DJ’s set on Saturday night. DJ’s music was absolutely banging brilliant. I will be back soon

This was a fantastic pub to visit, with a well-presented throwback counter! The karaoke is exciting and lighting adds to this atmosphere, staff were friendly too. I enjoyed a refreshing pint of Somerset Cider, right at a clean table while playing pool for fun!

On a trip to Taunton we somehow ended up in this pub and it was the most entertaining and hilarious experience. The karaoke was top banter! The staff were hilarious. Overall a quality experience and would definitely go back.

Absolutely brilliant night out. Staff were brilliant And drinks were very well priced. Only popped out for a quiet one but their amazing DJ got me up singing for the karaoke, one of the best nights I've had in a very long time

Went here on Wednesday with my partner as a previous place we had tried in the vicinity wasn’t so nice The lady behind the bar was very welcoming seated us at our table and swiftly took our drinks order and got to say it’s one of the best pints of 1664 I’ve had and the price is outstanding £2.90 There was a few other customers in who were having a few drinks and they also were very friendly I was a bit sceptical about trying this place but I was pleasantly surprised The pub itself is very big and spacious my partner said the men’s toilets are outdated but it was clean It was bright and airy not dark and dingy and the lady behind the bar has said that they have karaoke and discos once restrictions have lifted so I have to admit we will be back but please ignore our singing voices lol All in all a very pleasant experience thankyou

I am trying to be as honest as possible about my visits to tauntons pubs so I will have to say this is the worst of them all the lady there was foul mouthed and rude . There is a huge sign saying B&B and hot food available when enquiring I was shot down very fast and told not any more . I suggest they remove the 6ft sign saying otherwise

Been here alot and love the new owners bar staff make you feel welcome, easy to talk to and have karaoke nights and music once it's all done up and food gets going will be an even greater place

Really unpleasant experience, it seems this is a regulars only pub and new owners have not changed that. We left after 1 drink and didn't even finish that. Unclean, awful smell and really needs refurbishing.

Horrendous only bottled beer Heineken. 0% run out of fosters and thatchers on tap. as soon as we arrived at 8. The whole place is run down skanky and stinks. And to top it off the skittle alley smells like a toilet. It wreaks of piss. I'll be unavailable for the next game there

Worst place to be .they are rip off both the landlord and worker. Took my money for accommodation and end up asking me to leave because of my race.not recommended

Pub close to the train station and along the route to the town centre. Drinks, food and rooms available. Karaoke ofter at the weekends.

Friendly place, good selection of drinks.

This was my first visit to this pub in many a year. It has completely lost its 'mo-jo'. I initially went there on a Monday night and there were about 4 other customers in (I guess thats not untypical for most pubs for a Monday) The place was dingy, had no apparent character and was generally 'worn out'. The state of some of the seating was quite frankly awful. Badly stained (at best!) and symptomatic of the place as a whole. I returned on the Thursday night of the week I was in Taunton just to see if the atmosphere at least had improved. Sadly not, still the same sparse number of people which included a small group playing darts and continually using some choice language which which was audible by everyone in the pub! Given its size and location, this has a real chance to recover, but it certainly needs some TLC right now.

This bed and breakfast is above a pub, is central and close to other pubs and restaurants in Taunton. My room was basic and reasonably clean and when I was there very quiet. At £40 for a single room it represents good value and I would stay there again. Unfortunately breakfast is no longer being served.

Can recommend the Crown and sceptre we are having a lovely stay here and will definitely stay again!!!

Fuimos a la Corona y Cetro para bebidas, pero mientras el chico detrás de la barra era amable y eficiente, el bar en sí no tenía mucho ambiente mientras estuvimos allí.Pensamos que las bebidas eran caras, dado que gran parte de los muebles era vieja y necesitaba un poco de atención en lugares. He dejado el pub con la impresión de que podría ser mucho mejor de lo que realmente es, aunque su ubicación probablemente no ayuda.

Stunning pub in the middle of a beautiful town, very recommended

A big and spacious pub, and a friendly welcome, but this is a poor part of town and it has a downmarket feel, largely because of its customers. It could be cleaner, too, especially the sofas!

Haven't been to an English pub in years. Living in Spain we just have bars. Lovely friendly locals and staff alike. Great atmosphere

I use the C&S when attending at Somerset CCC. The service is second to none. Best breakfast in Somerset. Tremendous hosts. They will do anything to make your stay easy. Ideally situated a short walk from Railway Station, Cricket ground and Town Centre. Everything is spotlessly clean. I'd give 10 stars if I could!

Mi pareja y yo tuvimos una estancia muy cómoda en el Crown y cetro, nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos por la casera Ellie, ella no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros, no teníamos el desayuno en la mañana, pero nos quedamos para comer el domingo que era absolutamente delicioso, sin duda volveré

Cuando reservamos nuestra habitación nos informaron de que el desayuno estaría disponible. Cuando llegamos nos dijeron que la casera estaba lejos, así que no desayuno. Cuando bajamos al día siguiente que tuvimos, la casera. ¿Por qué no dicen que no se molestaba en hacerlo.Cuando llegamos a nuestra habitación, el baño estaba bajo el agua, así que tuvimos que cambiarnos a otra habitación (no se puede evitar) La nueva habitación tenía baja en la tierra, todo el rodapié, etc. y algunos accesorios en el baño estaban completamente oxidados.Los accesorios de la ventana estaban cayendo a pedazos y había suciedad y telarañas alrededor de los bordes.En el futuro volveremos a alojarnos en el local, que el Premier Inn es limpio, tranquilo y barato

Nos alojamos aquí por 4 semanas nos pareció que este lugar ofrece una buena relación calidad-precio, comparado con la mayoría de sitios de Taunton que caro nos dejaría de nuevo muy práctico para el centro de la ciudad de cricket y el único problema fue el ruido de la calle en verano cuando la ventana abierta pero no lo puedo dormir

Lo suficientemente limpias y ducha, estaba bien para una noche. Bastante pequeña, pero estaba bien para el precio. Muy ruidoso fuera, ya que es una carretera muy transitada y tarde en la noche gente borracha, así que ir a casa, si tienes una habitación con vistas a la parte frontal, puede ser un problema. Aparcamiento limitado pero conseguí un espacio que estaba bien...Lo mejor - desayuno increíble! Gente agradable también. Me alojaría allí de nuevo.

Cuando vine por primera vez a la zona de taunton en el pub la gente me acogió como familia. Es un pub muy divertido y amable. y un montón de diversión en los fines de semana. Gente gente engreída no sólo divertido con buenos corazones. Como un chef que ha trabajado en 4 países, la comida era estupenda. Volveré.

Been to stay at this pub a few times. Staff are warm and friendly. Rooms are good size and clean. Breakfast is great as the roast dinners.

Have visited this pub twice, once in 2014 with three friends and the other alone. Was pretty quiet both times but the bar staff seemed friendly enough. On both occasions if I remember correctly there were a few people drinking quietly and it seemed a friendly place. If I moved to Taunton, this would be the first pub I would try.

Stayed here for 3 nights for a course i was attending. Lovely people (landlords and locals), very welcoming and friendly. Lovely room and brilliant service, fresh towels and cleaned daily. Lovely breakfast, made to order, great value and can't complain, landlord (Ellie) open to specific orders. Great price for what you get, couldn't fault in any area.Will recommend to family and friends and will be my place to stay if I'm ever in Taunton again.

Had temp landlord as usual was away and what a top lad. Nothing too much trouble, breakfast nice. Plenty of parking. Wifi not great but for price cant complain. Worth a look.

I have only been here for drinks so far after work, I haven't found it too busy and the beer is nice. I will be going back to try the food at some point as well. I have enjoyed the pool table and relaxing on the old sofas.

Went here for lunch while visiting the County Cricket Ground for a Rod Stewart concert. Drinks pricey, maybe special concert goer prices! Bar man very friendly, staff polite and helpful. Nice hot lunch, reasonably priced and plenty of it. Nice comfy a chairs and ladies toilets spotless. Overall a really nice stop over pub and would certainly visit again if in the area.

What a wonderful pub great atmosphere and lovely b &b like i said geat place to stay great place to eat

New(ish) management have made this place a lot more appealing. The food was a good standard pub choice, with freshly cooked ingredients. Salad was a nice fresh assortment, chicken, chips both cooked fresh and gravy made as a cheeky side order. No problem to the helpful and friendly staff.

Had a great night at my sisters surprise 40th. Ellie produced a great buffet, put up with my singing and still was up smiling and producing a perfect breakfast next day. You can see its a work in progress but the progress they are making is undeniable. Will be back in the future for the service and the smile.

Stayed here for a friends birthday. Ellie and Paul (landlords) were amazing very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. Breakfast was first class and amazing value couldn't complain about lack of food coffee and service with a warm caring smile from Ellie will certainly recommend to friends and will visit again very soon.
