Costa Coffee in Taunton Deane

Really poor service. Ordered an Americano with milk and mocha with cream. Americano was black and no cream on mocha. Asked for some cream and the girl squirted it on and shoved the lid on. Spilt everywhere. Asked for some napkins and a new cup and we were given a filthy look. Girl then poured it into a new cup which flattened the cream. No apology given.

Very new and clean, applies to the whole services really.

Sat at drive thru, no sign to say closed, girl at window didn’t think to say just left me there - screen still working as if it’s open - this was 4pm

I just had the best cappuccino I’ve ever had in my life. I’m thinking what made it so good? It was bubbly, aerated, light, taste like coffee, just perfect in every way. Whoever was making the coffee in the northbound drive-through at about 4:30 pm on Friday, the 15th of March, I salute you coffee artist

We used the Costa drive through at Taunton Dean; the service was quick and the food/coffee hot, however, the coffee was too hot, burned you might say, with a gritty texture. Not only that we ordered regular, we got a large so the waste was even more! I’ve never had an awful coffee from Costa but this was undrinkable. Disappointing considering it’s a service station for people who are travelling or have been travelling for quite a distance- the coffee was a much needed energy boost for a long drive ahead.

Second time I get here the best salted caramel frappe in my life. Girls definitely deserves for the rise 👌🏽

Awful!! Taunton Deane dri thru north bound. Supposed to close at 6pm. Got there at 5.50pm behind another car and one behind us also. Starting taking our orders and the girl then said 'my manager has told me to close. You can get coffee in the main building' dreadful customer service. Turning business away!! If you don't want the business and decide to close early why don't you turn the open sign off, so people wouldn't waste their time coming off the motorway to do through a drive thru that doesn't wish to provide coffee!!

Located within the rest area with plenty of parking space for trucks and other vehicles. Easily accessible with also access to EV charging stations. It’s about 30 minutes outside Exeter and an hour away from Bristol. Plenty of seating both inside and outside.

Really overpriced and till closed. Can only order on machines. Wouldn’t even let us collect points.

Standard Costa with average coffee, but the staff were lovely.

really nice guy gave us directions as the motorway was full of traffic :) he told us a better and easier way to get home, and without his help we probably wouldn’t have got home 3 hours earlier than we should’ve 🫶🏼

Worst flat white and worst cappuccino we've ever had at a Costa. Stop rushing about and make them properly.

The Costa was nice as usual but their rewards scanners were off line so we missed our free cup.

Just wanted to write a little review about the lovely service I received on my journey yesterday. It makes such a difference when you get a service with a smile. I’m gutted I didn’t get the lovely girl’s name but whoever served me was delightful. Despite the hot weather she gave fantastic customer service. She was so friendly and made sure I used my Costa card which has actually given me a free tea this morning so win win! Such a lovely girl and she deserves to be recognised so thank you whoever you are. You really brightened my day for a boring long journey!

Well laid out cafe. There were three members of staff but the queue were divided into two lanes which was strange. Good food

Staff friendly helpful and efficient. Sadly, they were let down by the food which was cheap and nasty. Awful, cheap white bread, cheap cheese and tomato paste described by the fictional title cheese and roasted tomato toasties.

Today's visit to Costa was shambolic. Granted we made a large order of 5 drinks and 7 food items but there could certainly have been better attention paid to dietary requirements. Our order contained vegan foods. When the food was being handed over, we asked which items were which, we were told that they didn't know. As the food order contained mostly toasties, you couldn't tell from looking at them which was the vegan option. It wouldn't have taken much to mark a V on the cardboard or even a dot to simply distinguish which item was vegan. The drinks were of a similar nature. We all had coffies but we again were told by the staff member that didn't know which were which. In today's society with so many people having dietary requirements and allergies I think this is an appauling attitude to take and one that I find unacceptable. We didn't use rest if the facilities so cannot comment on them as we only did drive through.

I’m comfortable with the overpriced food and drink on a motorway services, but what a tired and grubby environment. Not busy, but dirty trays not cleared up, dirty crockery and grubby table tops. The epitome of perfunctory

Such slow service in the kiosk we've never waited so long for a coffee and then the young person in there couldn't remember, out of 2 drinks, which had vanilla in. Coffee isn't the best we've had from Costa either. Won't bother going there again

Awful service. Took the lady 10 minutes to toast a ham and cheese toasty. Staff were rude and had an attitude

Went in to get a quick latte and get on with my hot journey. Waited ages to get served but I was at the till. No organisation or communication as to why I was waiting (should have at least said you need to hold on etc). I waited another 5 minutes after ordering. Then they explained they had 2 new staff (worst timing ever for a bank hol). Then another 5 minutes, even though others got served and given drinks on a new till opened up the other side. Absolute shambles!

I just ordered a cappuccino with 3 white sugar, I asked twice for the sugar... The girl asked the guy preparing the order and he said he added it. However, I can't drink my cappuccino because you couldn't do your job: this coffee has no sugar in it, even after stirring. Good service from the girl bad one from the guy.

Bought a mocha and it was completely undrinkable, tasted like it had been made with dishwater. As it’s a drive-thru and you tend to let it cool a little before drinking it you’re too far down the motorway to make it worthwhile going back.

Great service, although busy on a hot August morning. Needed to stop and the friendly faces and chit chat went down very well. Good coffee too sitting outside in the sun

Shocking!!! Spent 25 mins in queue waiting for coffees. Once in the queue you can't get out due to high kerbs. When eventually got to the service window, saw just 1 person. Not good enough Costa!!! On a Saturday in Aug when roads are packed. 1 person doing all food and drinks, and taking orders is tantamount to staff negligence. And certainly piss poor customer service!

Standing in the queue waiting to order.....no obvious sign of the till at the front of the queue closing.... the older gentleman working in there today at 18:10pm barks at everyone in the queue to join the back of the other queue. Completely rude and uncalled for the way he spoke considering we were only following the signs on the floor. He then continued to raise his voice again at other people who done the same thing again a few minutes later.

Quick service, ok coffee. Handy if you just need a drink and don't want to have to park-up and go into the main service station.

Stood in a long queue at the smaller concession to find they do not separate their dairy and non dairy milk jugs. Not very sensible when people have allergies, excuse not enough jugs, sounds like poor management of the equipment they have...

If you love the Costa brand, have issues in leaving the interior of your vehicle, cannot face navigating inside the services & it's car park, or your time is so critical then this will be perfect for you! There is even an overhead LED sign letting you know from a distance if open or closed, but at the time of this review is only open in the daytime, as see the brightly lit red sign when pass by each day on the M5 in the early evening. Being not a fan of drive thrus of any nature, thought best not cloud my judgement, so will give 5 stars due to the concept & praticality of it rather than my personal opinion. Why do I have the feeling though that a large percentage of the cups served from here will end up being strewn along the verges of the M5 and Somerset & Devon's highways!

Date: 12.12 .19 @ 11am. Amazing barista in training , got my order correct first time and actually listened when I asked to have my toast " well done", I usually have to send it back to have it re-done. Also, the young gentleman who made the coffee was extremely attentive , very tasty coffee , thank you 🙂5*

Clean and reasonably tidy, with usual Costa fare. Service was a bit slow sadly. I had a Bonfire Spiced Latte, following a recommendation from one of my former students. She was absolutely right extolling its virtue....loved it and looking forward to my next one!

My partner was unhappy with her coffee so the staff have her a fresh one without a murmer, good service.

Heading south down the M5 on 13th September 2019, mid afternoon. Lovely, helpful staff, very friendly, always a nice Costa to visit, never had a bad experiance there. My last stop before getting home to north Devon. 10/10.

I know it's not Costas fault and they have no ability to control the local farmers... but dam the smell at this motorway services was really bad. Imagine if you will 1000 cows all farting at the same time into your face! The air was so thick with this repulsive smell you could taste the bovine excrement.

Your usual sort of Costa Coffee. My husband likes the coffee (I don't drink coffee but found a good fruit juice instead). Loved the tiffin cake we had as a snack.

We asked for a hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream and asked for the marshmallows to be put into the hot chocolate before the cream was put on. The guy refused!!! "This is how we do it here" he said - and proceeded to serve marshmallows separately! How rude! This is the first time this has ever happened anywhere and Costa need to train their Taunton barista to give the customers what they want. We certainly won't be stopping here on the way back.

We just stop for small break during driving toward south. this is best coats. When we went its was all busy and lovely lady ( manager i believe) jump in and start helping ,,, So nice to see happy staff and great service.

Got to love a good coffee when on National Express coach all the way from London to Plymouth.

Stopped here to get a coffee for our journey. No queue which was great considering how busy the service station was at McDonalds and the toilets. Service was fine and pleasant and the coffee tasted ok.

Took 20 minutes for them to do my drink- WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

We were in he Service Station for a Break and a Coffee. Standard stuff really from the Coffee Chain although a tad more expensive I believe.

Stale croissant, coffee that was all milk and no coffee and very surly staff. I think that might be my last Costa experience ever. £11 could have been far better spent... avoid

I concede that I was not at my best as I had been delayed in traffic for two hours. I am not a coffee drinker but bought a cold drink at Costa. 'Did you want sparkling?' the assistant asked. 'Yes, please,' I replied. 'Brill!"' She said. Took my money and that was it. Not unfriendly but when did 'please' and 'thank you' go out of fashion?

nice coffee stop well presented ,pleasant staff would go back again . Found the place to be well presented and easy to get relaxed after a long drive.

Pretty much as per the norm for Costa. Same old, good service and good coffee. Can't complain though, they have a formula and it works

I enjoy a Costa coffee, but sometimes other things put you off!There was one long queue for three order points and a couple walked straight through to the front for service. So annoying when they were told and wouldn't join the rear of the queue. Several of us directed comments to the man and woman, but they didn’t bother, collected their drinks and walked off!We did have a nice coffee and toastie sandwich.d

Driving down the M5, stopped off for a coffee.The coffee was nice enough - same as every other Costa Coffee - though they do push the upgrade to a smooth coffee hard, until they say its more expensive!Very limited Gluten Free Options - A tasteless bland Chicken Wrap - NOT RECOMMENDED!So over £8 for a medium latte and a tasteless wrap - typical UK Motorway services coffee shop!

It breaks down long drives and the services is clean

This lace sticks to the usual them of a Costa franchise. The staff do however try a little harder here in my view. Very sociable and try to interact with the clients as much as they can to give a good experience

But it is separate from the main services so much quieter than most service station Costas. The downside is slow service (as ever), and loos in the main building. There is a coffee booth outside in busy times for takeaways which helps. Bigger than average, quieter than average, recommended :-)

Service was very good and so was the coffee. Unfortunately the toast was so over done that it was difficult to bite into and then shattered because it was much too brittle to be of use. Did not have the time to spare to complain. Also disappointed that there were no toilets in this café so had to use those in the main building which is not brilliant when one has difficulty walking.

Quick efficient and naturally polite counter service with suggestions of quick bites on offer to go with coffee, no pressure sales all with a smile. Clean tables.

Great coffee, sadly the service station lets in down.For example, costa coffee closed outside, so u go inside, if u r disabled, press door button, door shld open automatically sadly no, as this is not operational, one off no, 6 weeks ago same problem. The rest of the service station not brilliant and the loos not so good.

This location is large and well presented with an outside section open in good weather as it was during my visit. When I arrived there was only one member of staff serving but a second began serving when a queue started. Efficient and friendly.

Love Costa Latte Coffee. Nice cakes and snacks also available. Clean and friendly. Would recommend for a break on your journey.

Long wait (20mins), cold coffee, forgot the hazelnut shot. The expensive price of a coffee should include some responsibility to the customer in providing a reasonable service. It appears that , due to the throughput of motorway stop overs, quality is take it or leave it. Not acceptable. I will try once more to see if improvement has been made.

This motorway service station is blessed with a costa coffee that has staff that are attentive and well spoken, happy and well mannered. It was a pleasure to stop and have coffee here even though it was a ridiculous time of night and the young man who served us was polite, helpful and smart. I would definitely recommend anyone to stop here especially on the long nights when driving becomes a chore.

Ordered an ordinary English Breakfast and Earl Grey tea. It was not a busy time. We were served two pots of tea in damaged tea pots which had plastic cup seals placed over the pot as they had obviously lost the tea pot lids. Very shoddy and expensive considering Costa's reputation. We will not use this outlet again. Another problem with a coffee shop offering tea is they provide it in horrible, gross, fat coffee cups with stupid off centre saucers. See this is what happens when you wind up a grumpy old man!

I love those Giant cups of coffee but the waitress could be a little warmer and friendly last time. Apart from that, the coffee is lovable.
