We loved our stay at the inn! We had a beautiful lodge room which was really spacious with a great balcony area and lovely bathroom. The food was excellent, there was lots of choice at breakfast and the staff were all really friendly and helpful!

I don't usually stay at 'inns' as I am a solo female traveller and don't want a noisy pub etc nearby - however my usual hotel was coming up very expensive for one night so I thought I'd try The Inn South Stainley as a change and it was a great location for my work event the following day - it was SO LOVELY! The room was so fresh, immaculately decorated, the shower was top banana and the food (mussels) I had for dinner were just delicious. All the staff were very friendly especially when I managed to forget the door code to access the rooms every time! I felt very safe, lovely and cosy and great wifi access, too. Would definitely stay here again.

Not a good idea to say to a customer who’d asked for burnt toast to be taken away, when provided with badly burnt toast for breakfast, “Most people would have eaten that” when a request was made for fresh unburnt toast. No apology; just bad manners accentuated by providing barely warm bread that was not toasted as a replacement. Firstly, the burnt toast should never have left the kitchen. The waiter could see it was badly burned so why put it my table? Secondly, to make a childish point by then giving barely toasted bread doesn’t suggest the waiter’s heart is in his job.

We had a dog friendly room which was clean and spacious with large en-suite and great shower. Fenced patio the dog could be left in. Although the nearby road was quite busy during the day the rooms were very quiet. The staff were all very cheerful and helpful. The garden area was lovely for a pre dinner drink. The food was tasty and the menu had a good choice. We had a very pleasant stay and it was very good value accommodation.

We had our wedding there. The ceremony and reception venue was so well organised. Nothing was too much bother for the staff and the food was out of this world, well prepared, cooked and presented. I would highly recommend The Inn either for a meal or special event. Thank you Simon and your team

We stayed for one night (wish it had been more)and from the minute we arrived to the minute we were leaving was a wonderful experience.The staff very helpful and attentive.Our room (lodge)was fantastic ,spotlessly clean,modern,warm ,the bed was amazing,the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time.We also had our own balcony with table and chairs.The breakfast was amazing!! My husband had the continental and I had a full English ,.I really cannot fault The inn at South Stainley… Would really recommend to everyone and when we are in Yorkshire again,it will definitely be here. Hopefully for longer next time… I didn’t want to leave!! Thank you to everyone that made our stay as perfect as it was.😘

We had an enjoyable two nights at The Inn at South Stainley. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent as was our evening meal. We have stayed here a few times and always find the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a great time at The Inn South Stainley. Our room was perfect. It had a little patio with a seating area, and this was great for our dog, who usually isn't the best when we have a trip away, but he was so relaxed, which a miracle. The Inn is very dog friendly. There was a dog bed and bowl in our room, and our dog actually used the bed (he never even uses his own bed when we're away) All of the staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful stay and we will definitely be returning.

We had an absolutely gorgeous afternoon at The Inn South Stainley for Mother’s Day! We sat in the garden room overlooking the gorgeous sunny garden- birds flying about, trees in blossom, families enjoying the sunshine. Staff were smiley, friendly and helpful, the menu had a great selection, the food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was so calm and lovely, despite it being one of their busiest days of the year. Thank you Graham, Chris, our waitress Kate, and the whole team. It was a very happy Mother’s Day for us.

This is a very good pub/ small hotel perfect for a stop when travelling on A1 or for visiting Harrogate. Parking is excellent. Just remember to register your car. We had a lodge room which was large warm with comfy bed. Tea coffee biscuits and water all provided. These rooms also have a patio area to sit outside. The shower was excellent. We didn’t eat on this stay but will when we return as their menu looks to be good

We came to the Inn to attend a golden wedding celebration (we didn't stay over, so this is just a review of the food, service etc). We had a lovely big room for our lunch looking out onto the pretty garden. The food was excellent and the service throughout was outstanding. All of the staff were particularly helpful and thoughtful. A perfect venue.

While I haven't personally visited this place, my 86 year old Grandmother has asked me to leave a review on her behalf. This last Saturday she encountered some difficulty driving in heavy rain. She pulled into this pub to ask if she could sit and wait while somebody came to pick her up. She was quite shaken by the experience, but she said the staff were exceptionally kind. Even though they were very busy, they made the time to chat to her, give her a cup of coffee, and generally cheer her up. She says they "saved her life". The whole family is grateful for the staff's kindness!

We have stopped her a couple of times, and the rooms are really nice, we called in for breakfast yesterday and ordered one full Yorkshire breakfast and one veggie breakfast, really delicious 😋 however the one let down was the the toast arriving on our plates pre buttered/marg spread which wasn't very nice we asked for some plain toast which they obliged, I don't think the toast should come out on the plate it should be brought separately and with a choice of butter or spread to choose from. Apart from this one blip food nice staff great, friendly and helpful

Had an excellent overnight stay. Delicious food, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dog friendly room was great I only one criticism and I mentioned this. The radiator was really dirty, full of dust inside the slats and the kettle was grubby. Otherwise a good spot to stay for Harrogate and roundabout. We caught the bus and the stop was conveniently outside the inn.

We visited at lunchtime with Your Harrogate vouchers. Explained to waitress we were using vouchers and asked which dishes we could choose. She said either the fixed lunch menu or a la carte. We chose the fixed menu and when another waitress came to take our order, it would appear we could not use the fixed menu….that was fine as it stated in the small print hence we had asked for clarification. What really wasn’t fair was another table of 4 using two vouchers asked if they could choose from the fixed menu and the editor said not really…customer said ‘please’ and he said ‘oh ok then’. There needs to be consistency between staff. Food was average and service was slow. Overpriced

What a fantastic place to stay. The rooms were comfortable, well equipped, clean and tidy and ideal having a dog, even a dog bed and dog bowl was supplied. The Inn for food was so nice, made to feel welcome and some of the best food we have had, arrived on the Sunday and had a Sunday dinner, well worth travelling for, definitely would be back. We also tried the pizza and the seafood pasta was one of the best. Staff were always helpful and there for any request we had, the dog was made to feel at home too in the bar which was great. Loved everything about our stay, ohh and the breakfasts are tasty and keeps you going all day long. Definitely will be back to visit soon and great destination for travelling for the day to different places. 10 out of 10 easily, thanks for a great stay.

Very comfortable room, bit noisy from traffic as at front. Meals in restaurant very good. Excellent breakfast. Staff are very good, pleasant and friendly and efficient. Would recommend if in this area. Bus service into Harrogate very good better than trying to go by car and find a parking place. Would definitely book again if in the area.

Delicious food with excellent service. The 'lodges' are really cosy and smart. Not far from Harrogate centre (about 6 miles).

I was so fortunate to stumble upon The Inn South Stanley. I stayed for two nights 25 and 26th September 2024 Overall: A superb stay! From the first communication, to the effort that the whole team went to, to accommodate me during my stay and my timings, was amazing. I had a planned start on the first day, earlier than the breakfasts official start and the whole team had rallied around to start early to accommodate me. I was happy to be able to adjust my plans so they didn't have to and I was pleased to be able to thank some of the staff I had met upon my leaving, but some were only there at the evenings and I had to leave before I could. However, My first evenings stay, amidst what could only be described as a 'Rain Storm' outside, was in pure luxury and comfort, with the added benefit of a complimentary umbrella for use by guests in my room, which turned out to be essential, considering I had forgotten to bring a coat! The shower was hot, clean, modern and spacious with ample towels, which were swapped in the morning. The bar area was busy and felt well patron-ed with people arriving from the weather, who appeared to be local, some with their dogs. I expect there were also hotel guests dining in the other areas too as the place was buzzing with activity. The fire was lit and the atmosphere was a calm and friendly and warm one. The food was second to none and the attentiveness of the bar and service staff was also on point and speedy. The management, the two who I had the benefit of coming into contact with (both by email and in person, on checking in, at the evening and on my checking out in the morning) were, although obviously busy, professional and polite and very eager to assist me, with my specific timing requirements and comfort during my stay. My only regret, is that I live so far away and will have to make a special journey to the area to make the most of the bar and restaurant, although at least it will mean that I have to stay over, to make the most of their excellent chalet rooms again. Mine was a Lodge Superior King Room, and the whole block had excellent security. I think there may have been more accommodation upstairs in the main building of the property, but mine was perfect. from the main building to my room, I had to pass what looked like would be an amazing space, for groups of friends to stay or frequent, with an amazing outside space including a tee-pee-like cover, a bar b q and a sunken fire pit. It was raining and cold when I was there, so I should probably plan a trip back in the summer to enjoy or at least witness them in action. Outside my window was a fantastic woodland view, with a farm backing onto the properties perimeter and had a small balcony for use in the summer. The soundproofing between inside and out was also excellent, upon opening the window, the sounds of nature, were awesome. All in all, Very Well Done and THANKS to the whole staff who make this place a definite GO TO on my list.

Cracking food good drinks and staff superb

We called in for our last night of our break for Sunday dinner. The drinks and meal were served very quickly. The roast dinners and dessert were absolutely beautiful and good value for money. Beautiful decor and the staff were very attentive and polite. Thank you

Just been to day with 10 people. Food and staff amazing

Our second stay and everything was superb again. A warm welcome and escort to our room outside. The bed is large and very comfortable, shower lovely and easy to use with plenty of hot water. Lovely and warm in the room and bathroom with double radiator and towel radiator keeping us cosy. Breakfast again superb good choice full breakfast was lovely. I have no hesitation in recommending the Inn at Stainley a super place to stay, book it you be happy staying here. Look forward to visiting again soon best wishes to all staff who made our stay so nice.

Great place to stay especially if your shooting at mountgarret estate, staff are very helpful and accommodating, the food is some of the best I've had in Yorkshire which is saying something, they don't mess about when it comes to food in God's own country. Highly recommended.

A wonderful find. Comfortable clean rooms with large ensuite shower. Small improvement would be a grab rail in the shower. Quiet room, provided allocated one on the side away from the road. Balcony a great safe space for our terrier to wander. The food was some of the best we have had, and we eat out a lot! Beef bourguignon was perfect. Service couldn't be faulted. Location great for exploring the Strid. Definitely plan to stay again.

Fabulous 1 night stay at The Inn, South Stainley. This is a dog friendly hotel and as were travelling with our mini dachshund, we stayed in one of the deluxe dog friendly king-size rooms with it's own terrace. The hotel is right next to an A road but luckily our room was at the back so we didn't hear any road noise at all. We had a meal and drinks in the restaurant in the evening and it didn't disappoint. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best we've had too. All of the Hotel staff were lovely and friendly and we will most definitely return!!

This was our second stay here and unfortunately it was nowhere near as good as the first. The meal was ok apart from one of our guests had a sprout that was still frozen! The service was very mediocre. We had several waitresses wanting to take our order. The chips on the kids meals looked like refrys and subsequently not eaten and the dessert order was a complete farce with all the orders coming back wrong and 2 orders not been delivered at all. We was sat in possibly the coldest area in the place. The children never took their coats off all night and the adults putting theirs on as soon as possible. And the dust on the plant on the table didn’t look good This experience has kind of soured our experience of what we initially took to be a 5* place to both eat and sleep.

Great and tasty food. Expect a bit of a wait when ordering as they don’t have much waiter/waitresses. But overall good experience 👍🏼

Had a fixed price lunch here. Very good value for money. Service excellent. Food absolutely delicious. There is someone in the kitchen who understands flavour and knows how to cook beautifully. We will definitely be returning.

We visit fairly regularly and this is our favourite place to stay when we travel from Scotland to Essex. The rooms are warm and comfortable. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is excellent. It is a huge bonus that you are dog friendly and Rosie always enjoys her stay too.

We have visited a few times now and even chosen here as our wedding venue. We are always blown away by the staff, no matter who you talk to they are polite and helpful and friendly, they really go out of their way to make a day special be it Sunday lunch or a Saturday evening quiet meal, a real credit to the business and not that common nowadays. Secondly the food, i can not rate it high enough, several times now and friends and family we invite always mention the quality. We travel a significant journey and its always worthwhile. Well done all a credit to your business

We stayed at the in. South Stainley for 1 night Jan 05. We stayed in 2 dog friendly king size rooms with terrace. The rooms were excitement clean and comfortable. Lovely luxurious touches such as huge fluffy white towels, toiletries, filter coffee bags, herbal teas in the room. Attention to detail, warm cozy and lovely shower. Can’t fault it, would definitely stay again. We ate in the bar in the evening with our dog. Tasty food, vegetarian menu. Very nice.

A lovely relaxing stay - staff were superb

Overall we really enjoyed our stay but for the price we paid for the 30th and 31st Dec (£700) compared to other places we’ve stayed over NY, it did fall a wee bit below par. The rooms are lovely but in our opinion not luxury. Room wasn’t ready at usual check in time, so after a 5 hour drive we had to sit in the bar for a further 30 mins. We stayed in a luxury lodge room and walking across in the dark (not very well lit / uneven paving ) and wet isn’t great. There were no umbrellas in the room (apparently guests take them) but a kind staff member lent us a fold up brolly for NYE. Food is lovely and the Inn itself is welcoming with good selection of both food and drink, it’s a very popular place. The location is great if you want to leave the car and jump on a bus to Harrogate or Ripon. Good car park with plenty of spaces. Beds are comfy and our room was really quiet and peaceful. We travel a lot between England and Scotland and would likely stay again just not over NY.

Needed somewhere to stay over Christmas on a visit to family. It was best decision I made to stay there. The hotel has just a beautiful ambiance, well maintained and the bedrooms are furnished to high standard and very clean. Breakfast sensational with warm and friendly service.

We would recommend The Inn to anyone. The staff were friendly and polite. The food was excellent and the whole place was immaculate. The dogs were treated like royalty and would go back any time. We look forward to a return visit, hopefully in gthe near future

Second time here and really enjoyed our stay with our dog. He loved the doggy welcome pack and grassy area to play ball in. We loved the peace and quiet and the best turkey dinner we had over Christmas at a very reasonable price. Overall highly recommended.

What a find! Followed this place on Instagram and decided to try for a night away. What a perfect little place for a lovely night and gorgeous food, the staff are friendly and welcoming. It had a great atmosphere As well as a belting cocktail list!!! Breakfast was gorgeous as well. Very impressed with this place for the price. Can’t wait to go back!

Easy place for us to find on the A61. Convenient parking. Very friendly staff. The lodge rooms were quiet and of a high standard with all the facilities and little extras you require. At last a room with a modern HD TV that was actually easy to use and worked properly. The bar and restaurant areas were classy and comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas and both breakfast and dinner were high quality. Only there for two nights and the weather could have been better but we really enjoyed our stay.

If visiting the York, Harrogate or Ripon area, this is a great place to stay.

Overall an excellent experience hence 5*. Great food, service and lovely atmosphere to relax, enjoy a pre-dinner drink etc. Would definitely stay agin. Room prices a bit steep at £207 per night B&B for what we got but the room was very nice if not absolutely top drawer for that sort of price.

We have had a wonderful two nights stay at The Inn South Stainly, the room immaculate, food was exceptional and we hope to return in the near future.

The food was excellent. But the service was abysmal, the staff were obnoxious.

Have just enjoyed a fantastic lunch with my husband at this restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the whole experience was a real pleasure. Having to be gluten and dairy free, can often lead to having a negative experience when eating out or is one to avoid. However, at this super place a few tweaks were easily sorted and I enjoyed the seabass followed by fruit crumble with vegan salted caramel ice-cream. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. My husband also enjoyed his risotto and creme brulee. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

This was our third stay at the Inn and it never fails to impress. The food is top class and excellent value for money. Service is friendly and attentive for both adults and doggy companions. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean with huge beds and a modern large walk in shower. Highly recommend the Inn at South Stainley.

Brilliant find, great service, food was exceptional. Only little gripe was the cost of a Negroni at £16 I found to be excessive!

The Inn is well placed for Harrogate and Ripon as well as being at the edge of the Dales. Friendly staff and very good service .

Lovely room with good layout.The soft furnishings are a very nice quality. There’s a super spacious bathroom, however we had to request some soap as there wasn’t any when we arrived. The room storage is very basic, similar to a Premier Inn. I would have liked a rack or small chest of drawers on which to place my case rather than use the bed. The room was at the front of the building so was close to the road which was quite busy and noisy at times. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We chose to stay here because there was nothing available in Harrogate at the time we needed to visit.

Lovely pub, stayed for 1 night in a double room, room was spotless. Had a very nice meal in the pub. All staff were very nice. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. Will definitely stay here again. 😊

Lovely overnight stay. Staff welcoming and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a few drinks after dropping my boy at Army College as well as a delicious meal. Bed super comfy and thank god for fan as room was warm. Great breakfast to set us up for journey back to Scotland. Would definitely recommend this place.
