The Inn South Stainley in Harrogate

Fabulous 1 night stay at The Inn, South Stainley. This is a dog friendly hotel and as were travelling with our mini dachshund, we stayed in one of the deluxe dog friendly king-size rooms with it's own terrace. The hotel is right next to an A road but luckily our room was at the back so we didn't hear any road noise at all. We had a meal and drinks in the restaurant in the evening and it didn't disappoint. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best we've had too. All of the Hotel staff were lovely and friendly and we will most definitely return!!

Great and tasty food. Expect a bit of a wait when ordering as they don’t have much waiter/waitresses. But overall good experience 👍🏼

This was our second stay here and unfortunately it was nowhere near as good as the first. The meal was ok apart from one of our guests had a sprout that was still frozen! The service was very mediocre. We had several waitresses wanting to take our order. The chips on the kids meals looked like refrys and subsequently not eaten and the dessert order was a complete farce with all the orders coming back wrong and 2 orders not been delivered at all. We was sat in possibly the coldest area in the place. The children never took their coats off all night and the adults putting theirs on as soon as possible. And the dust on the plant on the table didn’t look good This experience has kind of soured our experience of what we initially took to be a 5* place to both eat and sleep.

Had a fixed price lunch here. Very good value for money. Service excellent. Food absolutely delicious. There is someone in the kitchen who understands flavour and knows how to cook beautifully. We will definitely be returning.

We visit fairly regularly and this is our favourite place to stay when we travel from Scotland to Essex. The rooms are warm and comfortable. The staff are friendly and professional. The food is excellent. It is a huge bonus that you are dog friendly and Rosie always enjoys her stay too.

We have visited a few times now and even chosen here as our wedding venue. We are always blown away by the staff, no matter who you talk to they are polite and helpful and friendly, they really go out of their way to make a day special be it Sunday lunch or a Saturday evening quiet meal, a real credit to the business and not that common nowadays. Secondly the food, i can not rate it high enough, several times now and friends and family we invite always mention the quality. We travel a significant journey and its always worthwhile. Well done all a credit to your business

We stayed at the in. South Stainley for 1 night Jan 05. We stayed in 2 dog friendly king size rooms with terrace. The rooms were excitement clean and comfortable. Lovely luxurious touches such as huge fluffy white towels, toiletries, filter coffee bags, herbal teas in the room. Attention to detail, warm cozy and lovely shower. Can’t fault it, would definitely stay again. We ate in the bar in the evening with our dog. Tasty food, vegetarian menu. Very nice.

Excellent level of accommodation. Clean, cosy and very pleasant. Good food, and bar. Great value for the price. Definitely would recommend.

Fabulous welcome from lovely staff and the food was great too. One of the best breakfasts we've had, served in front of a log fire on a snowy morning.

We had an excellent stay over New Year - very well organised, great food and drink and very friendly and attentive staff. We will be back!

A lovely relaxing stay - staff were superb

Overall we really enjoyed our stay but for the price we paid for the 30th and 31st Dec (£700) compared to other places we’ve stayed over NY, it did fall a wee bit below par. The rooms are lovely but in our opinion not luxury. Room wasn’t ready at usual check in time, so after a 5 hour drive we had to sit in the bar for a further 30 mins. We stayed in a luxury lodge room and walking across in the dark (not very well lit / uneven paving ) and wet isn’t great. There were no umbrellas in the room (apparently guests take them) but a kind staff member lent us a fold up brolly for NYE. Food is lovely and the Inn itself is welcoming with good selection of both food and drink, it’s a very popular place. The location is great if you want to leave the car and jump on a bus to Harrogate or Ripon. Good car park with plenty of spaces. Beds are comfy and our room was really quiet and peaceful. We travel a lot between England and Scotland and would likely stay again just not over NY.

Needed somewhere to stay over Christmas on a visit to family. It was best decision I made to stay there. The hotel has just a beautiful ambiance, well maintained and the bedrooms are furnished to high standard and very clean. Breakfast sensational with warm and friendly service.

We would recommend The Inn to anyone. The staff were friendly and polite. The food was excellent and the whole place was immaculate. The dogs were treated like royalty and would go back any time. We look forward to a return visit, hopefully in gthe near future

What a find! Followed this place on Instagram and decided to try for a night away. What a perfect little place for a lovely night and gorgeous food, the staff are friendly and welcoming. It had a great atmosphere As well as a belting cocktail list!!! Breakfast was gorgeous as well. Very impressed with this place for the price. Can’t wait to go back!

Second time here and really enjoyed our stay with our dog. He loved the doggy welcome pack and grassy area to play ball in. We loved the peace and quiet and the best turkey dinner we had over Christmas at a very reasonable price. Overall highly recommended.

We had a very enjoyable stay whilst visiting friends and family recently . Lovely breakfast in a lovely friendly environment too.

We have giant Yorkshire puddings with sausage in red wine gravy. Very nice. Great atmosphere.

Easy place for us to find on the A61. Convenient parking. Very friendly staff. The lodge rooms were quiet and of a high standard with all the facilities and little extras you require. At last a room with a modern HD TV that was actually easy to use and worked properly. The bar and restaurant areas were classy and comfortable and beautifully decorated for Christmas and both breakfast and dinner were high quality. Only there for two nights and the weather could have been better but we really enjoyed our stay.

If visiting the York, Harrogate or Ripon area, this is a great place to stay.

Overall an excellent experience hence 5*. Great food, service and lovely atmosphere to relax, enjoy a pre-dinner drink etc. Would definitely stay agin. Room prices a bit steep at £207 per night B&B for what we got but the room was very nice if not absolutely top drawer for that sort of price.

We have had a wonderful two nights stay at The Inn South Stainly, the room immaculate, food was exceptional and we hope to return in the near future.

The food was excellent. But the service was abysmal, the staff were obnoxious.

This was our third stay at the Inn and it never fails to impress. The food is top class and excellent value for money. Service is friendly and attentive for both adults and doggy companions. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean with huge beds and a modern large walk in shower. Highly recommend the Inn at South Stainley.

Have just enjoyed a fantastic lunch with my husband at this restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the whole experience was a real pleasure. Having to be gluten and dairy free, can often lead to having a negative experience when eating out or is one to avoid. However, at this super place a few tweaks were easily sorted and I enjoyed the seabass followed by fruit crumble with vegan salted caramel ice-cream. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. My husband also enjoyed his risotto and creme brulee. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Brilliant find, great service, food was exceptional. Only little gripe was the cost of a Negroni at £16 I found to be excessive!

The Inn is well placed for Harrogate and Ripon as well as being at the edge of the Dales. Friendly staff and very good service .

A Great Find! Not a bad word to say about the place. We could highly recommend it.

Lovely room with good layout.The soft furnishings are a very nice quality. There’s a super spacious bathroom, however we had to request some soap as there wasn’t any when we arrived. The room storage is very basic, similar to a Premier Inn. I would have liked a rack or small chest of drawers on which to place my case rather than use the bed. The room was at the front of the building so was close to the road which was quite busy and noisy at times. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We chose to stay here because there was nothing available in Harrogate at the time we needed to visit.

Lovely pub, stayed for 1 night in a double room, room was spotless. Had a very nice meal in the pub. All staff were very nice. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. Will definitely stay here again. 😊

Nice place, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food......BUT unfortunately a decent nights sleep was spoiled due to a bright green light that stays on in the bedroom.....drove me mad!

Lovely overnight stay. Staff welcoming and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a few drinks after dropping my boy at Army College as well as a delicious meal. Bed super comfy and thank god for fan as room was warm. Great breakfast to set us up for journey back to Scotland. Would definitely recommend this place.

Enjoyed our one night stay at The Inn. We didn't have an evening meal as we had been to a family event earlier but the breakfast the following morning was first class, everything locally sourced and perfectly cooked and presented. Staff were very welcoming and attentive.

This place is incredible, and the staff are the gem. The manager is fantastic, friendly, helpful, great customer service and has charisma working the room. Which flows to all the staff, the customer service and food was joyful. Will be going back for sure; the room was spotless, food was scrumptious, and all the staff had a big smile. Loved the energy there, and it's super dog friendly the room had a dog bowl, bed and our poochie even got dog treats at the restaurant.

On arrival we were greeted with a friendly face very helpful and polite, funny and witty which gives a great atmosphere straight away. was shown to our room, which was lovely plenty of room large bathroom, we booked a table for dinner food was fabulous and again staff were amazing. We then had drinks in the Bar where it was cozy. Breakfast was great and a lovely selection of hot and cold food Staff was again amazing. all in all a fabulous Hotel which i will 100% return to. I was in room 2 which if I was being picky needs Air Con as on the main road so with window open its quite noisy, even though a fan was provided in the room it was still very warm. We will 100% be back.

Great experience. Good location for Harrogate and events at the convention centre. Room was large and very smartly decorated/furnished with a huge and very comfey bed. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed in the lodge annexe with balcony and had an evening meal in the restaurant. We were greeted by professional friendly staff and shown to our accomodation. The room was modern, spacious and clean. After our long drive we were able to enjoy a drink on the balcony overlooking the well cared for gardens. The evening meal was delicious (excellent).

Really nice pub. Huge beer garden. Fairly expensive. Dog friendly. Pay and display car park if not utilising the pub amd on a busy road so bit of traffic noise.

My wife and I have been regular customers for several years. Sadly I can no longer award an overall 5 stars because, whilst the food is still excellent, the service from the kitchen has become very slow. The usual friendly and cheery welcome now seems somewhat subdued and the atmosphere somewhat lacking. . A great shame because it is service that makes an occasion memorable.

We stayed here for my Grandmas 90th Birthday. There was a large group of us and the team were amazing. Made the weekend very special.

This lovely inn is a country pub with overnight accommodation available. Main service is drinks and meals, with a wide choice on offer. Although I didn't have alcohol, they promote real ale availability. Service in the restaurant was quick and friendly. No forced selling of products and for a Sunday, very busy. Didn't use the accommodation. Situated on a main A road, parking free if using the premises, register in pub.

We had a lovely nights stay in a room that accepted a dog .. It was comfortable and well appointed. The welcome was good , service was very pleasant both during dinner at the restaurant and a lovely breakfast with nice service too .. we enjoyed dinner very much . The hotel is just a short drive from Harrogate or there is a bus outside the hotel. Parking lots s very good at the Hotel and the bar area too a very comfortable and warming

Rooms are great, dinner service was very good, excellent meal. However, breakfast service only started at 8am & was very slow. OK if you are on vacation, but too late & slow for me as a business user. Location on a main road was good for access but means its a little remote.

We stayed at the weekend for an event dinner. From the time we checked-in until we checked-out, the staff and management were so professional, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food delicious. Will be returning soon.

Stayed just for a Sunday night. Welcome was excellent, and the room was spotless. We stayed in a dog friendly room in the lodge. There are plenty of walks right on the doorstep. Although the weather was not the best, we still managed to get out. Had a meal in the bar on the evening with dogs being allowed in the bar area. The Sunday lunch was served until 8 pm. and was lovely. The staff could not do enough to make the evening great. There is a large outside area for drinks, but maybe next time, weather permitting. I would recommend this hotel to dog or none dog owners. I will definitely be staying here again.

Sunday lunch is the best local to Harrogate, bar none. It is consistently top drawer.

Wonderful stay, lovely room, super food (especially the breakfast) and fantastic staff.

We had family up from Peterborough for Easter so decide to book the in well in advance.when the waitresses attended our table we were informed chicken, all pizzas and the special fish were off the menu. Having spoken to the maagerl who slouched up against the wall chewing gum with an annoying smirk on his face saying they had been busy and was not his problem ( no apology )being a bank Holiday did they not expect to be busy other food ordered but on our departure the manager walked away from not a thank you or a good night we have recommended the in to many people not any more the owners should appreciate good customer care as we have witnessed in the past this venue has gone to the wall hard to make it but even easier to loose it

Stopped for an impromptu meal with my daughter on our way home..food and service exceptional, v generous portions( sadly too full to try dessert) Five easy stars for all colleagues concerned. Thank you for a most wonderful experience!

Just had an overnight stay at this fabulous place and would highly recommend it! The service was amazing, the room was beautiful and was like a mini log cabin, the food was beautiful and they catered so well for our dog...even putting a dog bed and dog bowel in our room! The owners were lovely...so welcoming. We will definitely visit again.

Just stayed overnight in February, as a last minute break. All the staff are attentive and friendly. The pub is warm and welcoming. We booked a table for an evening meal. The food was exceptional both in terms of quality and quantity. We stayed in Room 8, which was large and beautifully furnished and laid out. Breakfast was top quality and in a beautiful setting. Although no longer a dog owner. It is very pleasing to see somewhere that not only welcomed dogs, but genuinely enjoyed them being part of the owners experience. I cannot recommend the Inn at Stainley highly enough and cannot wait to visit again.
