Having had many meals here over the years it remains one of the most consistent better places for a meal in the area. There is a good choice of dishes on the menu. Something to suit everyone. Always tasty. Never had a bad meal here. Service is very good and there is a nice atmosphere. Great value for money. If you want to fill your plate with a cheap mass produced microwaved meal then go to the likes of Weatherspoons. Personally I prefer proper food cooked in house and happy to pay a bit extra for it. Normally always busy which speaks for itself

Travelling around Scotland we called on some relatives living in Fraserburgh and they suggested we meet here for lunch and a natter. Good choice. The building is a good solid looking Aberdeenshire steading that has an ample sized dining space which was comfortingly full considering it was a Tuesday lunchtime and this is not on a main street. That meant the food had to be good. It was. Personally had the battered haddock and it was a good portion size, nice flaky fish and all the trimmings you would hope for. The menu is full of good simple cooking that comes in good portions at a reasonable price. One of my favourite things about the whole place was the sign I saw on the door on arrival. I

Booked table for 5 people 1800hrs 30th June, arrived 1755hrs. As you enter hotel you are met by a reception desk, lights on at desk no one in sight or sign with instructions. Enter through door to bar area, standing for 30 seconds girl approaches and says "yes" not welcome, may I help you or anything as you would expect. Explained that we had booked. Girl took us to a table in the conservatory and left, with us thinking she was away to collect some menus, no she left us there until 1810hrs. When she returned to ask if we wanted a drink, still no menus. Eventually the menus are brought at 1820 and drinks served at 1825hrs. Time now 1840hrs and a number of staff passing our table while we are all making it clear that we are ready for our order to be taken, but no not one of them took any notice. So we decide to leave and all 5 stand up at once and leave passing 2 members of staff on route and pass the bar with another two staff members, not one of them took any notice or asked if there was an issue, they just watched us walk out the door. Went to another local hotel and had a lovely meal and welcome. Haven't been to Heath Hill for a number of years and wont be returning. Having now shared our experience with a number of friends, it is apparent that this type of service is normal for here now. The owner would clearly have known we had an issue and had our number from our booking but chose just to ignore.

We were looking for a special restaurant as a wrap up to our visit to the northern coast of Scotland and thank you to our wonderful hosts. This restaurant was the perfect place. We sat in the atrium with views across the rolling countryside. There were six of us and everyone was very satisfied with their meals. I had the roast beef special fresh vegetables and roasted potatoes. My sister choose the roast chicken stuffed with haggis with mashed potatoes and gravy plus vegetables. Both selections were very tasty. The after dinner coffees were nicely prepared. The driveway entrance was bordered by stone fences with “Hairy Coos” Scottish cattle in the pasture watching us as we drove in. This place was a favorite of our hosts.

Everyone is always made welcome where booking is advised to avoid disappointment, there is ample parking. Food was fantastic and it was just what I had hoped it would be after all these years. All the food was fantastic (and I am really fussy!) but I have to give a special mention the battered Haddock, it was utterly sublime. Light, crispy and full of flavour. I think the picture says it all. Good Job guys.

Honestly just meh. Lovely decor and perfectly rustic building; however, unenthusiastic staff and long wait for food after ordering ruined it. That’s not to say the girls weren’t nice, they took orders and handed out food fine - I just saw no evidence of going the extra mile. Food itself was not the best standard, I ordered the steak burger and it tasted as if I had ordered a burger from McDonald’s. More hamburger than steak burger. Although I do love hamburgers; I expect a higher standard for £12. I was hopeful dessert would lift the experience, I mean who doesn’t love chocolate fudge cake? However when it arrived it was dry and almost tasted as though it was made yesterday (all the cream provided was needed). Overall it was alright and not a negative experience, but I won’t be rushing back.

This is a busy restaurant, it's always best to book, yes, you might be lucky, just walk in and get a table, but why would you chance disappointment? The service is always good here, very attentive, and extrememly helpful. Menu is fairly varied, from steaks to curries, and everything in between there's defininely something to suit everyone, my own personal favourite is the chicken stroganoff. The restaurant is always busy with local people from nearby Fraserburgh, to me, if they can be bothered getting into their cars and driving out of town a few miles to eat, then that's a good enough sign for me to know it's worth dropping in by.

I ate here on a Friday night about 5:30pm. The restaurant wasn’t very busy so I didn’t need to book at that time. The restaurant has a traditional and family-friendly vibe. I had the steak pie which was absolutely delicious. The beef was really tender and tasted nice. The pastry was light and fluffy, whilst the vegetables tasted nice and fresh . It also came with a side portion of chips which were tasty also. I also had one drink and the final bill was under £15 which was good value. The menu was also very varied as there were non-traditional items also like chicken curry and a chicken/chorizo pasta available. The service was good and I was checked on during my meal. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to other people who like traditional home-cooked food in a family atmosphere, and I will definitelt eat here again soon as the food is so fine.

Despite asking for a table in the conservatory we were put into a back room with a loud birthday party beside us. Not great for a mothers day lunch. We had not been told at the time of booking that it was a mothers day special fixed meal, probably would not have come if know this. The menu had a good selection on it but choices were very bland and old fashioned - prawn cocktail. haddock mornay! The starters arrived and they were reasonable - the Cullen skink was bland. Main courses arrived with soggy veg. 2 of us had ordered the chicken with a stroganoff sauce. The sauce was none existent but it was the chicken that had been cooked cooked and cooked again my dad had to spit it out and I could barely swallow. When mentioned to the staff they immediately took the plates away and we reordered the haddock mornay, The menu had stated that the sauce had white wine through it so I thought it would be a light sauce , nope it was like cheap packet cheese sauce, I scraped it off . The fish was barely warm but was tasty unlike the veg that was overcooked. The desserts were tasty, best part of the meal. No offer of coffee/tea. Possibly expected too much on a mothers day in a small town. May go back to give it another try

I have dined here a lot of times over the years, Heath hill is one of my favourite restaurants in the area- Portion sizes are spot on and there is something for every taste on the menu. The menu seems to focus on traditional food and having sampled several meals here the one thing in common they all have is that they are consistently very good quality and represent really good value for money. There is a nice relaxed ambience within, the restaurant is set away from the road therefore is a very quiet place to dine in. I particularly like the farmhouse type theme decor- it definitely fits with the location. Service is very efficient, from the lovely lady whom took payment from me asking if everything was to our liking to the young waiting staff who acted immediately on any request any of my family had. Just not very exciting or well presented. The staff were polite and efficient. On arrival we were directed to the restaurant, the staff were polite. The restaurant includes an area inside a large conservatory, it was light, spacious, comfortable and welcoming. The lady that served us was polite and helpful. We were a family group of four and between us we had two different starters and four different main courses, three desserts and two liqueur coffees. Two of had the home made pate starter, this was excellent. Two of us had the prawn cocktail starter, but this was a little watery towards the end. Of the main courses the Chicken curry was really good, but the Ploughman's lunch was disappointing. There were three cheeses, cheddar, brie and stilton, all were fine, there was a selection of small fruits, strawberry, grapes, slices of apple and kiwi fruit all were fine as was the pickle. The roll was a little on the small side for a ploughman's and the salad was disappointing. Onion, whether fresh or pickled, is essential, a key ingredient in what should be a plain rustic meal, was sadly lacking, the salad consisted of a couple of pieces of tomato, a slice of cucumber and mixed leaves and some pieces of chopped peppers, what onion there was, was too finely chopped and lost in the mixed leaves , which didn't seem too fresh. The roast meal, the beef was well cooked, a little too well cooked, not a hint of pink, not what was expected and the roast potatoes we believe were deep fried, not baked. The lasagna was dry and there was a little black on the top as if slightly burnt. The liqueur coffees were both lacking sufficient demerara sugar and were more bitter, rather than sweet and the cream didn't seem right. None of these faults were show stoppers, and we didn't think that they were bad enough to complain about, but we had higher expectations and ended up a little disappointed. This was more like pub grub, not a hotel restaurant. On another day, none of this may have occurred, and we wont say that we wont return, but we just wont be in a hurry.

For mains 3 of us ordered fillet and I ordered sirloin steak. The steaks were cooked to our liking, but unfortunately the vegetable served were horrible and certainly not what would be served with steak. it was a mixture of sprouts, carrots, turnip cabbage and runner beans, all mixed up in a bowl, just horrible. The sweets were okay but again not home made and right out the freezer. You should be ashamed of yourselves taking lazy we expected fresh fresh ingredients. We even witnessed one of the bar man sneezing into his hanky and the proceeded to serve drinks without washing his hands., we will definitely not be returning as poor hygiene standards were witnessed and food was not what you would expect when paying large amount of money for such poor quality.give this place a miss there are far better restaurants in the area

We went to the Heathhill on Saturday 20th July, basically on the spur of the moment. We called at about 4pm to book a table and had originally asked for a table at 5pm, we were told that they could accomodate us at 6.15pm. Anyway we didnt think anything more about the timings, just assumed they would be busy. We arrived at 6pm and were seated immediately. The first thing that struck us was why were we asked to come at 6.15pm when so many tables were empty.Anyway that aside our drinks order was taken quickly, unfortunately i nearly ended up wearing my drink as it was spilled all over the table. That aside it was cleaned up quickly and new cutlery was given. Our starters and main courses were ordered and have to say both my wife and I really enjoyed our meals. Good sized portions and cooked to perfection. We were asked if we wanted a suite and we somehow managed to squeeze them in. All in all bill came to £57 which included several drinks, which we thought was very reasonable. We will definately go back at some point.Given the nice weather at the weekend it would have been great to sit outside, not sure if the Heathhill does this, but it is in such a country setting it would be something worht considering for the future, i would have really enjoyed this as we dont normally get the opportunity in Aberdeenshire to sit outside, but with the fantasitc weather at the moment, it would have went down a treat.

We went for Sunday lunch with our 3 children. Very limited menu at lunches although we didn't mind. The children fish was very greasy and I had to remove the batter and request clean plates. The roast beef and pork were basic with poor side veg. The sweets were bought in and again very basic. My biggest concern though was that an extra 20% was added on to our total bill for v a t. It certainly was not obvious on the menu that this was not included in the advertised price. This place could have so much potential, there is certainly a need of a decent family restaurant in the area. I would love to see honest home cooked food here, and then we might return.

Went for a meal at heath hill, we were sat in what only can be described as the main route through the restaurant, we had the waitresses bump in to us as they were passing and had their butt in our faces as they were taking the order from the tables at either side of us, we asked the waitress if we could move to a table beside the window that came free, she went to ask the boss and the next thing we knew the couple at the table next to us were being moved to the table we requested! We had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be taken, We had to wait a further 35 minutes for our starters, and it seemed to me that if you were a local or a regular you got preferential treatment.. new folks trying the place for the first time.... forget it, food was 'ok' at best, they didn't hang around when it came to dishing out the bill though! The service spoiled a special night out and we definitely will not be back, nor will we recommend it to our friends.

We really enjoyed our meal at Heath Hill last Saturday night. We had a table in the conservatory which was great, the service was excellent as was the food. It was very busy and had a good buzz about it. We would definately return and recommend to our friends.

we visited this restaurant for the first time 2 months ago and it was brilliant! went this week and it was a complete let-down!starter of garlic mushrooms was fine...mains were shocking..partner had beef steak pie and most of it was watery gravy with little beef and 2 tiny new potatoes on the plate!..had to ask for veg and what came was frozen carrot discs and green beans (yuk!)..last time we visited we had a huge selection of veg-mashed neeps, brocolli, cauliflower, peas..heaps of tatties and plenty chips!sweets were poor...tiny piece of cheesecake (which just looked like a bought one-not home made!) and the sticky toffee pudding tasted just like a ginger sponge with the tiniest dribble of toffee sauce on top-not moist at all...no dates in it...just bland and tastless..probably the worst sticky toffee pudding i have eaten!hopefully the chef was just having an off night but for what we paid (not cheap!)...doubt will be back...an utter shame as we had raved about this place to our friends when we visited last! :(

Fantastic food, great service and all for a reasonable price. The place was very busy and we could see why. Slow to get served our starter but there were 3 very large table in so could understand the wait. Hot plates for hot food always a good sign and we were not disapointed. Well done

On a previous visit my mother had the best beef stroganoff she's ever tasted in her life, so she recommended that we try it. Unknown to her, the Inn has changed ownership in the last few weeks. She was looking forward to having the stroganoff again, but it is now a totally different menu and now serves typical pub grub. In fairness the food is well cooked. I had an ice cream cup cake as dessert and it was made by a local firm and it was the highlight of the meal. The cosy bar had a wood burning stove and looked very inviting, but that wasn't set up for eating food. The restaurant is beyond the bar in a huge garden room/ conservatory. When we visited it was a freezing cold day and the restaurant only had two other diners, so it was absolutely glacial. I was worried that my elderly mother would find it too cold, but she was swathed in so many layers of cashmere that she was OK. I think they should consider serving food in the bar for the colder part of the year.

This restaurant serves simple, hearty food, in generous quantities. My Scottish soup was amazing, and my fish was excellent. My wife also enjoyed her meal very much. Service was extremely friendly. Nice atmosphere, decent pricing. Would definitely go back.

Went on a Saturday night as a table of four and it was fully booked. After initially sitting at a window table, we were then asked to move, as it had been reserved for someone else? Then after a discussion, they changed their minds. We ordered four mains; the men both had smoked haddock and black pudding in a white wine sauce; the sauce had no taste whatsoever and was just a white sauce. One of the females has Pork with black pudding in a Stilton sauce; again, the sauce had no taste whatsoever and was just a white sauce. The dish was cold and had to go back to the kitchen. On to the sweets and we ordered two sticky toffee puddings; both were cold and had to go back to the kitchen. Then they were returned and we were left with no cutlery. Had to go to the counter to ask for spoons!. When we settled the bill, we told the manager about the problems we had with our food, but he replied that he would let the chef know! No apology, no discount, no free bottle of wine. Nothing. The food overall was pretty tasteless and half of it was cold. Three of our 6 meals had to go back to the kitchen for heating; basic mistakes. Mistakes can be forgiven but without even an apology, I'm afraid we won't be returning; back to Pitsligo Arms methinks....

We had our second visit to this establishment last night and once again we were very impressed by the warm welcome given and by the quality of the food. Fraserburgh itself is sadly lacking in pleasant places to eat but having discovered this inn, we will make it a destination every time we are in the area. Food is fresh and tasty - and plentiful! All in all, a very good experience.

This evening my friends and I were out to enjoy ourselves having a lovely meal. But that did not go to plan, as we had to wait 2 and a half hours for our food! (one of my friends order a steak which was flavourless and the other order a starter which was completely disregarded when asked about) Although waiter was very accommodating and trying his best to make our meals come quicker, the whole place is severely understaffed causing backups throughout the whole restaurant. As our food was taking a long time we were told we could leave and not wanting to deal with us in that regard. Overall I am very disappointed in the service I received this evening, either this place has to cut down it customer intake or find a way to accommodate this volume of people.

We had the most amazing afternoon tea experience in the Bubble. We can't praise the Banff Springs highly enough. This was a mini 'hen party ' and so much thought had gone into making this so special for the bride to be. Beautifully decorated, Beth and her team looked after us so well. The quality of the food and drinks was outstanding. A lovely afternoon was had by all. Highly recommend! A big thank you to all involved!

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.
