The Indian Palace in St. Helens

We booked the Indian Palace as it was convenient and had very good ratings on Trip Advisor - and we weren't disappointed! We booked a table to 10 people and making their reservation was very easy. As it was a Christmas Party for our band. The staff had laid the table beautifully and put cards and Christmas crackers out for us, Perfect. The food was delicious, we all had starters that were fresh and the tandoori stater was superb! we then ordered our mains and again everyone was delighted with the freshness of the food - it all tasted wonderful! The staff were very attentive and made the night for us. We will be back again in the spring for another dinner. Thank you to everyone at the Indian Palace, you made our evening!

Booked a table for early Saturday evening as being local we know it gets busy at weekends. Every other table was taken and people were still arriving when we left. The staff are welcoming and pleasant. Everyone had a great meal with drinks. Restaurant is licensed to sell alcohol. We’ve also had takeaways from this restaurant and they’ve always been good. Great value. 😊

Been here a few times now and it's really nice. The staff are friendly and the food is divine. I tend to have the chicken balti and the meat is so soft. Would recommend this place to anyone.

We usually order closer to home. However, no matter where we ordered from, the chicken was odd and the different sauces were similar to each other so decided to try here. So glad we did. The food was delicious, the chicken was tender and the young lad behind the counter was so polite he even gave me an extra mint yoghurt as I told him my Daughter drinks it! 🤣 Excellent prices too. New favourite 😁

Due to Covid the restaurant is closed but deliveries are in full flow. Absolutely excellent food and lovely staff. Its a reassuring that the food is always spot on.

Everything I ordered was really delicious, hot and securely packaged. Really full of flavour, generous portions and also lots of variety on the menu. Staff, from placing order to delivery and payment, were friendly, polite and efficient. Also faultless compliance with covid 19 guidance.

I am not exaggerating when I say that this is the best Indian this side of the Ganges. It is all I think about from the minute I wake up for work on a Monday morning to the minute I sit down in the restaurant on a Friday evening. The food is spot on, the staff cannot do enough for you and the restaurant is literally spotless. Boss man in the kitchen deserves a knighthood.

Me and my family and friends have been coming here for years,staff can’t do enough for you,always make us feel welcome even when we book big tables they accommodate our big family,they can’t do enough.food always amazing,children are made to feel welcome and the staff always talking and attentive to us all. Food always brought out together no waiting for everyone’s meals.

First visit to Haycock staying at Ibis Styles. The Indian Palace is just 11minutes walk or 5 minutes drive. This is a very friendly, cosy restaurant. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, very good value for the money. One thing is that it is cash only. Will be definitely returning when in the area😀

My family and Inahve just had another good evening at the Indian Palace. This is by far our favourite place to eat as the service is of a consistent high quality with very friendly and motivated team. Food is always excellent and reasonably priced. Fantatstic atmosphere and brilliant place all round.

We have visited here for years but have had a break for a number of years with very young children, visited again recently and it was excellent and really good value!

Visited on a few occasions now although we had difficulty in past with booked tables this has now been resolved with no one complaining this visit but back to the food - well recommended good serving staff, small but comfortable.

Admittedly we havent been out on a date night for over a year (2 kids what do you expect! ) we had decided to escape for a few hours and decided to book a table .heard Saturdays are busy. We waited for 15 mis before we were seated . Drink order taken and given menus .ice cold beer perfect! We decided on just popadums and nan bread as a starter. He had the tandoori mix i had lamb katmandu. We did wait a while for our mains but you can understand why. They do take away as well as a full restaurant. Every table taken. As soon as a table was vacated it was reset in seconds ready for the next guests. 3 servers answering phone. Drinks.tables and takeaway. All i can say is they need a payrise! The chef is fantastic and the whole team are great. Most importantly they dont ask how your meal is when you have a mouthful! The food, service and atmoshere is wonderful. Would i go again YES! Would i recomend? Absolutely!!! have already. 5 stars!!!!! We are now planning our next escape. Taking the kids next weekend too! Busy place and you can see why! A very Big thank you to Lal Miah what a lovely man. Head of staff runs the front of house and cant recomend this place enough. Worth the wait you won't regret it. Enjoy!!!!!!

Went there on two consecutive nights. On both occasions I ordered from the special offer, which included pops and pics, starter, main course, rice or naan and ice cream or coffee. The starters were decent but my main courses of Bhuna and Jalfraizi were both excellent. There was no reduction of portion size because of the offer (£9.95). Even though I was there midweek there was a steady flow of customers and good, pleasant service. Quite a few seemed to be regulars and the manager and staff had obviously developed good rapport. Well worth a visit.

Me and four friends nipped too the Aldi next door for the weekly shop and found the aroma of Indian palace too good to resist, service was excellent food was fantastic and very good value, only down side is the wife was not happy as the kids chicken nuggets had thawed out and had to be thrown out, will be going again but not on the weekly big shopLee

Nipped for tea last night, eaten here many times before, food was excellent and service was very good, always have very good offers on, and you can add to the offer for a little extra, they are not set offers. Would definitely recommend here if you haven’t eaten here before,

We've only been to this restaurant on a few occasions but we've never been disappointed. The food is really tastey and the staff very attentive but not in your face. The takeaways are also really good too, the foods always hot and always ready on time.

Food was ok and good value for money but don't come here on a Saturday night if your looking for a nice night to catch up with friends.

We both had the five course Sunday menu,could not fault the size of the portions or the quality of the food,was definitely worth a visit and it will not be my last,was noticeable that as quickly as a table became empty it was quickly cleaned and new customers sat down it was only six o’clock and was very busy which I think says a lot.

Some of my family and grandchildren visited this restaurant for a meal for my birthday. Food very good and very varied menu, including a fee english meals for the less adventurous. Served quickly and all meals hot and tasty. Do takeaway menu as well. Will be back.

Very polite staff with quick service. Unfortunately the food was a little bland to what we have had before from this restaurant. I started with chicken tikka and my other half had chicken tandoori and both lacked flavour. We thought the main course would compensate for the poor starter but it didn’t. We had the chicken Dansak and chicken dupiaz and again just no flavour, as though the chef had forgot to add the flavours. Overall opinion was it was just ok but we have been put off going again. We have been here 3times before and been pleased but also paid full price. Tonight on a Sunday the offer was on for 5 courses for £9.95 each so maybe this was why it wasn’t as good. You get poppadums then any starter under £3, any curry with either rice or naan bread followed by ice cream or coffee. We had the offer but only chose a 3 course and had the coffee whilst eating. They charged us separately for the coffees because we had them during the meal and not at the end. So instead of charging us £19.90 they added the cost of the coffees and wouldn’t include them in the offer as they were ordered during the meal and not at the end. Place is good for families and do cater for babies as they did have a high chair. I don’t think you could get a wheelchair in there as tables quite close together.

Within walking distance so visited twice in last week or so first visit was about 8.30pm about 5 couples in yesterday visited at 6.30pm & it was completely full with most taking advantage of the 5 courses for £11.95 which is virtually 85% of the menu with small charge for 15% it doesn't cover so well worth it. The food is very good & although it was full the service was good with staff very friendly & helpful. All in all good two visits, well worth it & well recommended.

Food ok but the service was terrible. The restaurant was less than half full and we had to wait well over 30 minutes between each course. The final course of just an ice cream, never arrived at all. When we asked what was happening, the waiter advised that "it is what it is". I would class this place as more of just a take away with seats, rather than a restaurant.

5 course menu for £11.95 is a winner! Popadoms, starter, main + rice and a pudding. You are not going to be walking away hungry from this place. The curries are always excellent and you can select any from the menu as part of the deal (some small surcharges for king prawns etc apply, which is fair enough). Very small place but always has a great atmosphere. Would recommend booking a table if you want to go on a weekend.

We have eaten here many times before, and never been disappointed, the food is excellent and very tasty, the waiters are very helpful and always recommend different dishes, it’s very reasonably priced, and the restaurant is literally 5 minute drive from where we live so it’s ideal if we just want to come for food, but not travel too far. I would definitely recommend here to eat.

Ordered food to take away, was ready on time, waiter checked my food before I left and something was missing so was sorted before I got home and realised. The food was lovely, chicken very tender. Will return for sure.

This was our third visit to this restaurant and once again food good.this restaurant is quite small so I would imagine that if you are intending to go at the weekend I would recommend that you book. The service and quality of food that we had was really good, and the prices are really great value.Please give it a try if your in the area.

Has taken over where the Spice Raj left off when it closed. The food and service is first class,however the premises is small so I would advise you to phone ahead to check availability.

UPDATE posted a review on 6th June - Back to being one of the best Indians! Just had another takeaway, everything was great again, and I genuinely believe my last experience was a one off. We had mostly the same meals, got chicken tandoori this time as well, all very very tasty. We all really enjoyed it. I didn't realise my last takeaway was 3 months ago, I was kindly offered a complimentary meal in response to my previous review, but felt embarrassed to ask when I realised how long ago it was. Went to pick it up and they remembered me and they didn't charge me. Excellent customer service! I'm updating my review to 5 stars.

Mi anterior crítica elogiaron la Palacio indio, aunque partimos tenía la extraño de día a lo largo de los años, tengo que decir que nunca he tenido un plato terrible hasta ahora. Pedido mi habitual cordero puri entrante, fue con aceite, el Puri estaba empapada, el estaño para llevar todavía tenía una buena cantidad de aceite, mi plato estaba cubierto en aceite. Comí lo que pude, acabé comiendo sólo el cordero en la cima, ojalá no hubiese sido así, se siente un poco enfermo ahora después de un plato grasiento. Soy Indio y confía en mí no hay excusa para esta cantidad de aceite en cualquier plato indio, jamás! No sé si he cogido de nuevo personal como el primer chico por teléfono no podía entender nosotros, él hizo y conseguimos una camarera inglesa que no podía haber sabido lo que había en el menú y las cosas necesarias, y la ortografía no espesar un chef decente debido a la salsa galón de aceite. Otros platos estaban bien, chili chili paneer no tiene mucho menos contundente como de costumbre, en el pollo de lo habitual, que samosa también tenía el maíz dulce, por favor eso y uso guisantes! Pero, por desgracia, eclipsada por las espantosas puri. Espero que esta es una. Su me echó, así que supongo que será un rato antes de que me apetece llevar desde aquí de nuevo.

Always our favourite place fantastic food and excellent value defiantly the best Indian in st Helens, have told all my friends and work colleagues, also The takes us are great you get loads of food! Always enjoy and tend to try and go once every month, my husband does not like Indian food, but sometimes he may try if we get a takeaway and says it nice... my son also goes with his girlfriend and also he's mates would highly recommend this place.

The restaurant offers a set price menu for £11.95 (£9.95 on Sundays) popadom, starter, main, rice/nan bread and coffee or ice cream.The popadom was warm and tasty, the chutney tray was generous.I had the onion bhaji which tasted like it had been fried in old oil, the chicken on my main course had a tandoori coating which tasted a little powdery but was of a decent quality. We did eat everything but we won't return here, cheap isn't always good value.

Called to collect takeaway after phoning, ready in 45 mins which is good on a Saturday night, I was greeted with a smile & had quick service The food is excellent

My wife and I visited the Indian Palace last night and enjoyed a wonderful meal.Whilst the restaurant was small it was extremely busy and held a really positive atmosphere.The head of staff Lal Miah and his team worked extremely hard to ensure a positive dining experience.The food was wonderful full of flavour and well presented. The yoghurt dressing served with the popadoms was amazing.My wife had the lamb Katmandu and I had the Tandoori Mix which again were fantatstic.From this visit I would fully recommend.

This has been our regular haunt for years, but the last few months have been terrible. We always book a table, and now find that when we arrive several parties are already waiting and have been booked at our time.The place is tiny. This makes for huge waiting times. Like 45 minute wait just to get seated even when booked!! This has happened twice now. Often people get tired and leave really angry.Then at the end of the meal, they want you to to leave to get the next delayed booking in!

Lovely food but honestly for the second time we booked they are simply being too greedy with the bookings, unacceptable delays of over half an hour - 45 mins cramped in a tiny annex standing up watching everyone else eat when you are booked to be seated, ruins the whole experience, misses the point of booking in advance and just antagonises people, will be a little more room next week guys because we won't be back. Some organisation definitely and urgently required.

The restaurant is handy for the Ibis Styles. It is modern in style./ The staff were friendly and efficient. Food OK. My niggle was the noise made by a toddler whose parents let be noisy and wander around at will. As a consequence we diodn't have the relaxing meal we wanted.

Having lived in Haydock for nearly 5 years, this was our first visit and it will not be our last. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service.

The Indian Palace in Haydock offers amazing, delicious food at a value for money. The staff are very attentive and my experience here was out of this world. Went here for new years Eve. The staff were brilliant, really accommodating and friendly. Lovely food and good value. This restraunts is really local for us but even if it wasn't I'd travel to go.

We attended this restaurant in the recommendation from my parents. Right the night was quite and I was graceful here were not many people in. The restaurant could do with a little modernising and was a little tacky and outdated. We ordered out food which I always do the same type of food chicken tikka and a starter which normally shows the quality. Well the chicken tikka was alright and to be honest not that bad and the plain curry was good but not enough just covering the bottom of the dish which was very disappointing to say the least a couple of mouthfuls and it was gone. Starter was ok nothing special sheek kebab. The worst thing was the mint sauce which tasted like nothing no flavour. My wife had a vegetarian dish and she said it was ok but not the best she's tasted. Well conclusion is that it would not be our first choice for Indian in St. Helens but certainly nowhere near are last choice. Management update the restaurant a little and be careful the price of the alcohol. I thought it was a little on the expensive side from my. I would go again and try something in the curry side next time. I can't give it 5 due to outdated Decor and food was not the best I've had

We visit this restaurant which is just 5 mins drive from our home about twice a month on sunday when you get the special meal at just 9.95 per head. The restaurant is not massive but seems to cater well for parties and trade. No booking usually required except for parties. Staff are very attentive and pleasant. Great choice of all indian cuisine. Its a licensed restaurant. Food is well cooked and always piping hot . Situate on a small shopping area in Haydock just off main road of haydock. Plenty of free parking on this site. Well worth a visit

I can't praise it highly enough the food is fresh and well prepared. Although it's not the largest restaurant or most modern in styling it's clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

Restaurant is quite hidden, amongst some shops, but now I know it's there, will definitely be going back! Food is amazing, staff really friendly and go the extra mile and the cost is extremely reasonable! Would recommend for couples, friends, families alike!

Ate here Friday night off the £11.95 5 course menu. Can't really fault the value but I have eaten at cleaner establishments and the curry was very average ! Staff were pleasant enough and if watching family television with your curry is your idea of a good night out then make this top of your list. We won't return.

We had 5 courses and it was lovely and the cost was only £14.95.Great little place and would recommend .Beer was expensive but only as it is resturaunt prices £3.50 per pint .Will go again

The Indian Palace is to be found at the corner of a small "retail park" in Haydock. From the outside it looks like a Takeaway, but on entering, it is also a pleasant, simple restaurant. We have used it for both purposes and have never had any complaints. Four of us recently had the 5 course menu [£11.95pp] and all enjoyed the experience. The food is standard "Indian" and enjoyable. The service is efficient and very friendly, down to the complimentary Irish Cream before we left. As I am yet to find fault with the Palace, I can heartily recommend it. Just look for Aldi and Iceland and you can't miss it.

I was on a business trip and found this by trip advisor recommendation, friendly staff, attentive without being pushy. Good menu and very good quality food, I had lamb Madras and the heat description was spot on.I would go again.

Visited last night for a take away after gruelling journey home. Waited 20mins for the order when there was only one person in front of me and one table full in the restaurant. Chicken tikka masala was just bright pink sauce with five pieces of dry chicken. Garlic coriander naan was limp and cold. Lamb dopizza was nice but chips weren't in the bag when I got home.couldnt be bothered to go back as already tired and fed up.was supposed to be easy tasty option for tea, ended up being very disappointing and expensive too.

My son and I visited Monday night, the food was excellent and Azad was attentive and very friendly as always. The Indian palace is a firm favourite for sure.

We have been going here for years at least 2 / 3 times per month while the food is amazingly good (and it is) the last 5/6 times we have been they have tried to sneak on the odd beer we didn't have or a extra rice or extra garlic naan, while this isn't much its still annoying .. I have sopped going now so in the long run you have just done yourselves a injustice we now take our money elsewhere .. People check your bills this is happening all to often i am not the first to notice ! its a principle thing and we wont be returning which is a real shame

Best Indian I have ever been to. Food is so flavourful. Also good value for money as mon-sat they have a 5 course deal at 11.95 and Sunday is the same priced at 9.95. Went on Saturday night and although the restaurant is small and was packed we was seater and made out drinks orders within 5 minutes. These guys are so friendly and attentive to the customers and there customer service is very good. Will keep on returning to this little gem on an Indian.

This Indian does the best naans I have ever had! Love the chilli paneer starter and the butter chicken main. Rest of the menu is also good. I've not had a bad meal here. Very good value.

We took over the restaurant for my husbands birthday with family and friends. The staff as always couldn't do enough for us and the food was excellent. A group that has never been before said that this was the best Indian restaurant that they had been to.

Came here tonight (26/06/15) for a family meal. We were warmly welcomed and seated instantly. My family ordered the 5 course meal deal for £11.95 but I only had the main course which was no problem.We had our order taken and I decided to have the Dupiaza for the first time.Poppadums came and despite only ordering 3, we got 4 so I had some lime pickle. :)Our mains came and my Dupiaza was lovely and the service was fantastic. Great pint of Cobra too. For four of us, it was excellent value. Can't wait to go back.

Stayed locally on business and found it on Trip advisor ,great food very helpful staff and the food was Fab. To make things Evan better starters,mains and two rounds of drinks for 3 was £63.00 !!!!Don't be put off when you pull up,give it a go well done

ahhh, The Indian palace, this is the place to be.... Tea time special, has always been a favourite of mine! staff are really friendly, even the kitchen staff say hello, if you bump into them. Great food, didn't have to wait long to be seated. over all experience was great....Again!

Food is always amazing here. The staff are friendly and the offers are great. Always go for either a couples meal or as a family gathering. I'd say it's the best Indian in St Helens.

This used to be a good place for a curry.Maybe they have a different chef on a Thursday when I visited but the food wasn't even average.The tandori chicken and the chicken in the main curry was obviously pre-heated in the microwave giving a bad smell and chewy taste.The staff were pleasant and obliging but they could not compensate for the chefs inability.When I went to the w.c ,I could see dirty dishes in dirty water in the sink which doesn,t exactly help you enjoy your meal. I am not a complainer and eat Indian food regularly but producing food like this,even if it is a special tea time offer is not the way to have customers return.Come on Indian Palace you Used to be so much better than this.

This was recommended by a work friend to visit. When we arrived we choose the 5 course meals for £10. We got so much food we couldn't eat it all - well worth the money. I recommend this if you are in the area.

Following our bad experience a week earlier in London it was so good to return to 'The Little Indian'. Excellent food served when you are ready for it by very friendly and thoughtful staff who treat you like a customer. The meal deals are also great value. So glad it's open again after it's refurb. Would highly recommend to anyone. Big bonus for us it's 5 mins walk.

We had great meal here on New Years eve. There were 12 of us ( 6 adults and 6 children ) the service was great- really looked after us and particularly the children. Food was brilliant as always and very reasonable bill. Was great to see some of the old staff who really know how to look after regulars . Only disappointment- the chips - not as good as they used to be before the closure ! But hey should we be judging an Indian on the chips !

Went the Indian palace in Haydock tonight on New Year's Eve. Excellent food and excellent service. What more can I say. Great value!

Welcome back. After being closed for refurbishment, the Indian Palace reopened on 5th November 2014. Three of us went last night and it was as fabulous as ever. Excellent food, delightful, pleasant staff (they're always so very welcoming) and great value. Would recommend anyone to come here. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
