The Indian Oven in Richmond upon Thames

Had a very strong craving for naan, so wandered down yesterday because it's local and I hadn't popped by. Got a bunch of naan and chilli paneer, very yummy - got that slightly charred edge to the naan for flavour that I love, the chilli paneer was a bit mild but very flavourful, though maybe will have to request it be a bit hotter next time as I assume it's for the british palate. Lovely little interior, very comfy seats, person who was in to take order was very kind and only took around 15 minutes from coming in to give the order to coming back to pick it up (though that may be because I ordered mostly naan). Free poppadoms always score bonus in my books too! Will have to be back to order more of a normal order.

This place has new owners. Menu is very limited. There are only half the dishes that there used to be. My wife wanted a Chicken Dopiaza, but I was told that they don't do it. So sad. We now go to the Teddington Tandoori to get our Indian takeaway, which is a fantastic Indian takeaway (see my review on that takeaway).

I was curious to try this after the management changed, and was really surprised as how good it is now. The quality and taste of the food is great and really authentic.

What happened?! New management?! This used to be my go to. Sadly, everything about the last order had changed. - 3 bhaajjis not 4 in a portion and no vivid green sauce (the brown goop sent instead was grim); they were also very heavy and floury, - both curries were not aromatic, and just had some chilli lazily dropped in to make it spicy, - the naan was heavy and floury; the flavour was more cardamom than coconut, but I didn’t mind this so much. Generally, menu not as extensive and prices much higher for smaller portion sizes. Sadly, such a disappointment we are unlikely to bother trying again. 😩

A well family run Indian take away with good food and a smiley family in the kitchen and reception taking pleasure serving the local community some good food. Well done to the previous owner to see to the right people

We have been living in Kew for 3 years and this is our go-to takeaway. Food is always excellent! I love the tikka masala and the chaat puri.

Ordered from here a few times as a local resident - great taste and excellent portion sizes! Lovely friendly team at the restaurant too. Great local takeaway with 10% collection discount. Highly recommend! Edit: the Biryani was particularly delicious, we think they've changed up recipes within the last month or two. The food was even better this time than before!! Absolutely delicious - and I've had a LOT of curries in my time!

It was my go to place for a good curry, but they have recently changed their menu and prices. The quality of the food have taken a serious dive! I ordered my usual and the receipe had totally changed, it now taste like they use jarred supermarket sauces, definitely not what it used to be.

I use Indian oven at least once or twice a month the food is delicious my favourite is the chicken Tikka masala or the chicken Tikka Roll very reasonably priced the orders always turn up on time and the drivers always friendly. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is they have for some reason removed the option to buy onion salad and mint sauce from thier menu again. If the restuarnt reads this please resolve this by adding the options again

Decided to try The Indian Oven again on a rainy Wednesday night walking back from Richmond - Had Chicken Jalfrezi and a Garlic Naan - Simply the best Jalfrezi, freshly cooked and good size portion too - Had to write this review to promote it more - a hidden gem on Sandycombe Road!

Recommended by friends and ordered our first takeaway tonight. Was absolutely delicious, no complaints about anything we ordered, food tasted fresh, was delivered hot, poppadoms yum I've mentioned these as other takeaways we've used poppadoms seem stale so thank you The Indian Oven. Will definitely be ordering from you again x

0 stars to this place now.This place used to be very good under Fahim. Yesterday had the worst experience with the new manager turning aggressive. I called up to place at 9 pm and order and was told we can do it in 30 minutes so I cancelled as was running short of time. I receive a call on my phone from a mobile phone ( not the restaurant number) at 10:45 saying to pick up the order to which I said that I had cancelled. The manager told me to never order from the place and cut the call. I called on the restaurant number to speak to Fahim and was told to speak to whoever but aggressively cut down the phone again. It seems that the new management is super rude with the worst possible manager.

We've ordered from here a few times and are always impressed with the customer service and quality of the food. It's also incredible value for money! The owners are super friendly and often chat to us even if we're just walking past :)

The meat dishes have no meat in them and their phones are off when you call to complain

over 2.5 hour delay in our food, no phone call to update us at all, when it arrived it was cold and probably the worse indian i've ever had to date. avoid at all costs! Not even salt could save this meal.

I have used this takeaway for several years and find the food really nicely cooked with fantastic, spicy flavours. There is a wide selection available with something to suit all my extended family when they visit. The service is very efficient, polite and freindly and compared to a sitdown restaurant the prices are very good,

Particularly surprising were the cauliflower bhaji, which were not bhaji at all but a sort of unflavourful curry like the others. Very disappointing.

I'm surprised at the previous poor reviews - we ordered from here twice during our stay in Kew - and found the food very good on both occasions. The vegetable rice was excellent - decent selection of vegetables and not bulked out with cabbage like some other places do.

Best Indian take away I have had in years. The food was absolutely delicious and there was enough to go around the whole family.

Order 2 bottles of coke with my order, 1 regular and 1 diet. The Diet Coke was out of date. ( 31 Dec 17) Apart from this the food was good.

Since moving to the area I have been looking for a good Indian and finally I have found it. Great food and very friendly service. This is my go to takeaway in richmond.

It was all cold. The best thing about it was the can of coke. The Chicken Korma tasted like nothing and it had the texture of flower mixed with cold water. The spinach and cheese thing was like rubber and grass. The rice was a sweaty mush and the nan was also tasteless . Would not recommend this place or hungry house as you can’t trust the reviews on there. It truly all went in the bin...a waste of calories, money and food. If I could rate lower than 1 I would.

Chicken tika & the poppadoms are far better from here then any other Indian restaurant I know of.

The Mrs and I are staying in Sheen temporarily for work and thought we'd take a punt on these guys (actually found them on hungry house and they were the highest ranked takeaway with 4.5 stars). Just finished it and we both agreed possibly the nicest takeaway we've had in a few years (we eat a lot of curry). I had the chicken tikka masala and the Mrs had the chicken tikka dhansak. Very impressed with the quality and quantity of chicken compared to other London takeaways and the sauce was flavoursome and of a good amount. We ordered at peak time on a Friday night and did take a bit longer than average but was to be expected. Highly recommend.

My husband and I used to regularly get takeaway from Indian Oven, but changed to another place in Whitton about a year ago. on New Years Day , our excellent alternative restaurant was closed, so we tried Indian Oven again. Terrible mistake. the food was really bland, everything tasted the same. the sauce was watery and had no flavor at all. the naan was doughy. It took 1 hour 45 mins to arrive. I would absolutely never order from there again, so disappointing.

The most delicious food I ever had very authentic keep up the food work

Food arrived late and no salt in any dishes. All the meat was bland. Everything ended up in bin. Total waste of money, wait time and slept starving including my kids.

This is a fantastic place to order Indian food. The chefs and the girl on reception are all lovely. The taste is amazing and we can't praise it enough. It's always a pleasure to be there.

I had a takeaway last night and now have food poisoning. I will be reporting this to health and safety standards.

Girl who answers phone is a total disgrace. Wrong food delivered. Told they would redeliver when I next order free of charge as an apology. Re ordered but re delivery not honored unless I pay a delivery charge. Delivery charge for something I had already paid for but was never delivered in the first place. Girl who answered phone was disgusting, unhelpful, argumentative, vile and disrespectful on the phone. A total embarrassment. The delivery staff are however lovely. Not a good advert for the Indian oven. Even though we had eaten there for many months. We won't be ordering there again, solely because of her behaviour.

The wost service ever experienced. Ordered food at 19-05pm received at 22--01pm, food was upside down in bag, spilt everywhere, then rung them to complain it was cold and spilt everywhere to be told to go elsewhere as they do not need my business. I overreacted and swore at him after such a response to then be threatened that he had my address and phone number. Absolute diabolical and reported to police. DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM THESE LOW LIVES. haven't even paid their taxes in two years, check companies house!

I had previously ordered twice from Indian oven and actually thought it was quite ok! I ordered take out today and was very disappointed, I won't order from them again. I ordered a lamb Tikka pasanda and vegetable korma. I could not eat the lamb.. The structure did not feel like lamb at all.. The vegetable korma actually had no vegetables, it was lots of korma sauce, potatoes, a few green pees and onions.. The korma was very sweet. Overall I really did not enjoy my dinner whilst I was starving and craving for Indian food. Last time for me ordering here.
