We went for Sunday lunch and they managed to squeeze us in at the last minute. The food was seriously good, best Sunday roast lamb I've ever had. Really warm, friendly pub with great walking from the pub. Lovely view over the church and beyond from the garden too. Really looking forward to coming back

What a hidden gem this cosy country pub (and b&b) is to randomly find. The style is modern with roots of a traditional pub. We had a warm welcome and a big smile from the bar keep before sitting outside with friendly locals with playful dogs. The locals with the dogs checked we were ok with these, which is so thoughtful (we have 2 at home). Good quality, decent portions without being too large. Peaceful garden and surrounding countryside and quite epic views. If you like architecture, you are in for a treat with the church and old school buildings. Family friendly too. Must come and check it out!!

This is my local pub, about a mile down the lane, my only problem with The Hunters Moon is that it’s easy to take it for granted! Everything about is is about as good as it gets - this does cause me a bit of an issue when I visit other pubs, as their beer inevitably feels second rate to what I’m lucky enough to have on my doorstep! Food, atmosphere & garden are also fab, it’s ideal for taking friends and visitors to - we recently took friends for a Sunday lunch and sat chatting until teatime! :))

A great pub with friendly, helpful staff. The menu, although not huge, offered a good selection of meals. The only downside for me is that a lot of dishes contained chilli, which I can't eat, so that limited my choice. However, that doesn't stop me from recommending this pub.

We came here after a long hike up pen y fan and we really looked forward to a Sunday roast dinner. We got there and barely even got greeted by the staff, we got sat at our table and then informed they no longer served roast dinner. This was on a Sunday at 5pm so we were appalled that they would stop serving it. Hungry and stuck in the middle of nowhere, we had no choice but to order alternative food. In fairness, the quality of the food was good but what shocked us next were the prices. £17 pounds for a standard beef burger ! How can a Welsh pub in the middle of nowhere get away with London prices ?! Disappointed.

Steeped in history, this building was erected in the 13th century, as was of't the way in Britain, to house the masons and other craftsmen who were building the church next door. What is now the bar room was a cider mill in the 19th century, an indentation on the central beam showing where the vertical pivot of the mill was fixed. The inn being known as the Carpenter’s Arms at that time and briefly called 'As You Like It' in the 1900s before becoming the Hunter’s Moon, a traditional name for the first full moon after the Harvest Moon in autumn. The inn is now run as a pub and guesthouse by three generations of the Bateman family, which acquired it in 2013 to restore to its former glory. Well they have certainly done a grand job, keeping all the history including a keystone dated in 1217. The landlord and staff were very friendly and made us so welcome on a Tuesday afternoon. These days rural pubs in the area seldom seem open on Monday + Tuesday but this is open every day and all day! 3 real ales in superb condition and local cider. The menu is exceptional value, and the rear beer garden has a tranquil view across the churchyard. This is a pub not to be missed. Enjoy! And if you are staying, watch out for the friendly ghosts at the inn, including one of a lady who moves across the top of the stairs.

We stumbled upon the Hunters Moon while searching for a Sunday lunch spot, and it turned out to be a fantastic find! The cozy atmosphere and delectable food, left us thoroughly impressed. The freshness and quality of the dishes were evident, making it one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve experienced. The lamb was a standout, incredibly delicious, and the gravy was unmatched. Their unique Brussels sprouts recipe, featuring almonds and bacon (I believe), was also an absolute delight!!! The friendly and welcoming staff added to the enjoyable experience. At £90 per night, this was the most expensive accommodation on the Offa's Dyke path route for me. What a ripp off. The double room was tiny and very dirty. There were lots of dead flies on the window shelf and also on the walls where, I assume, previous guests had swotted them. The shower would not drain away and when I removed the plug cover in the tray to clean it was absolutely and disgracefully filthy. This is the dirtiest place I have ever stayed. I did take photographs. The greeting was not particularly warm and the food very mediocre. The hot and cold water taps only worked intermittently which was frustrating. Meal condiments were stored on the floor. Not recommended.

Recently I was in Wales for the first time, staying at a nearby cottage that was literally a one minute walk from the Hunter's Moon. The first night my lady and I arrived, we stopped in for a pint and a bite. My mind was blown. The food was so unbelievably good I wish that I'd had more time to eat literally everything on the menu. The day before arriving, I'd eaten at two Gordon Ramsay restaurants in London, yet the flavor that was in the steak and ale pie here at the inn blew those away (including Gordon's wellington!). Not joking at all. My lady had the venison casserole and neither one of us could get enough. We knew we'd be back, and we were several times. The burgers were great, and the chips were outstanding each time. Paired with the Butty Bach, we were incredibly happy. And though we did not catch his name, the chef was incredibly personable and friendly and stopped to talk to us each time we were there. It just added that extra element of care, which was noticeable in the food. And, he even gave us some great recommendations of places to check out in the area after we mentioned we wanted to enjoy being in nature. We came back at least twice more, once for a pint and again for dinner. After seeing and smelling all the wild garlic, we knew we had to try the asparagus, wild garlic and pesto soup. It got better with every bite. The wild boar ragu was phenomenal as well. Every single bite of food we had just made us happy and comforted. Of course, because my lady and I were on vacation, dessert always had to happen. Again, everything was just right. Nothing was too sweet or heavy, just spot on. My only regret is that we couldn't take back the days we spent in London and instead spend them in Wales so that we could have another meal or two here at the inn and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Hope to be back some day.

We ate at The Half Moon inn twice whilst on holiday we were staying within a 2 minutes walk from the pub, we pre booked as reviews said it got busy but on both nights it was pretty empty on the Saturday night we were the only people there eating until 8pm. Food was faultless the first visit my husband had prawns to start followed by the pie and I had the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce the steak was a bit pricey at £29 but was cooked to perfection. They were accomodating when I asked for peas instead of mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. The service on our first evening which was a Thursday was not so good I had to get up twice to re order drinks which was a bit odd as there were about 4 members of staff around the bar. Also no one came to our table to check our meals were okay. Was different on Saturday night staff bought us more drinks and asked if our food was okay. We had the Chilli con carne and beef burger both very tasty. Overall we would return as the food was amazing, the pub is a very old pub with a lot of character felt like it could have been a bit cleaner, sticky table and quite a few spiders around the beams which I guess is to be expected.

I drove from an attraction 10 miles from the cafe got here at 3pm,, on the site it says cafe open till 4:30pm.. They stop selling food at 3pm... Owner told me the closing time is out of date. Wasted journey and a loss of custom to the establishment.

Good quality nice toast not enough options went to go get Greggs instead whilst the rest of my family ate there. Very loud tables full of half eaten food. What kind of breakfast place doesn't serve breakfast they have breakfast buns and salmon on toast but no English breakfast and no kids menu but nice toast

Fantastic coffee shop , went recently with my daughter , nothing to much trouble , the ladies serving absolutely lovely . They both made me and my daughter feel at home . They even turned the music off so my daughter could sing. Coffee was superb , gem of a find.
